CANE ON CBS : 'THE CUBANS' IN THE SUGAR

??????

Jimmy
Smits

A native of Brooklyn and a second-generation American, Smits traces his Hispanic roots to Puerto Rico on his mother's side and to Suriname, South America, for his father's. His family moved several times during his childhood and he spent his early adolescence in Puerto Rico, where he learned to speak Spanish.1.

Rita Moreno, originally named Rosita Dolores Alverio

Rita Moreno (born December 11, 1931, in Humacao, Puerto Rico) is a singer, dancer and an Academy Award-winning actress and the first and only Puerto Rican actress in history (as well as one of only nine people) to have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award.2.

Hector Elizondo

Elizondo was born in New York City. In the 1930s, his Puerto Rican parents, Martin Echevarria Elizondo (whose parents were Basques from Spain) and Carmen Medina Reyes, emigrated to New York City, like so many other Puerto Ricans at the time, with the hope of finding a better way of life. 3.
