The Douglas County School District has purchased ten long rifles for the armed patrol division.

"We purchased 10 long rifles and those are to be used by our patrol division and armed personnel. So we're being proactive and making sure that we have all the tools necessary if we have to respond to keep our students and staff safe," said Rich Payne, Director of Safety and Security.

The guns are Bushmaster long rifles. They are semi-automatic, Payne confirmed.
