Mel Martinez Joins Lobbying Shop Immediately After Quitting Senate

First Posted: 09-23-09 03:10 PM Updated: 09-23-09 08:26 PM

Former Sen. Mel Martinez has joined the lobbying shop of major law firm DLA Piper -- just two weeks after resigning from the Senate.

Martinez has joined the firm as a partner and will advise on issues ranging from government affairs, litigation, defense, energy and real estate, according to a statement released by DLA Piper.

USA Today reports that Martinez will come to the firm with $456,220 in cash from his campaign committee. DLA Piper made $11.8 million last year lobbying for clients that include the Royal Bank of Scotland and Lockheed Martin.

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey left DLA Piper last month amid negative media attention his Freedom Works organization received for its involvement in town hall protests.
Under the Senate's post employment rules, Martinez will be unable to lobby the Senate for two years.

President Obama's SPEECHES AND REMARKS...

Since taking office on January 20, 2009, President Barack Obama has made more speeches than I can count. It seems as if he averages between 1 or 2 speeches per day. How can he find so much to say? Can health care reform and the rest of his agenda be so important that he must reiterate platitudes incessantly? At this rate he'll be hoarse by New Year's day, or the public will be bored to tears with his constant elocution.
Ronald Reagan was called the great communicator; I believe this president will be remembered as the Great Palaverer.

I've heard that President Obama may have made close to 400 speeches is just 8 months! Here's the official (tally) link; You're welcome to count them yourself:

US Rep Towns: Bank Of America To Provide More

By Michael R. Crittenden
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Bank of America Corp. (BAC) has agreed to provide some additional documents to congressional investigators and may be forced to hand over more in the future, a top Democrat said Tuesday.

Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y., who chairs the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, said Bank of America agreed at a Tuesday afternoon meeting to hand over documents requested by investigators last month regarding the firm's acquisition of Merrill Lynch & Co.

Not all of the documents requested by the Oversight committee will be turned over. Towns said for documents where Bank of America has asserted attorney-client privilege the bank will be required to provide investigators with a "privilege log" that the panel will review. If the panel determines the documents are still necessary, they could again be requested from the bank or subpoenaed.

"The meeting today with Bank of America was constructive," Towns said in a statement.

Bank of America's decision to hand over some documents is the latest step in the Oversight panel's ongoing investigation into the Merrill Lynch acquisition and the federal government's decision to provide billions to help ensure the acquisition went through in January. Bank of America CEO Kenneth Lewis testified before the committee earlier this year.

The current dispute over the documents arose after Bank of America responded to an Aug. 6 request from Towns by refusing to turn over some documents because of attorney-client privilege. Other documents provided included pages that were partially or fully redacted, and what Towns said in a letter to Lewis were "hundreds of pages of unrelated, extraneous information."

Towns noted in the Sept. 18 letter to Lewis that Congress has the right to refuse an assertion of attorney-client privilege.

Bank of America missed a Monday deadline to turn over the information to the Oversight panel, prompting the meeting Tuesday between Towns and Anne Finucane, the bank's chief strategy and marketing officer.

Pope's Threee Banks in America

POPE'S THREE BANKS in AMERICA

by Sherman H. Skolnick

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At one time the Pope owned three major banks in America, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. In New York, St. Peter's banker Michael Sindona, ran the Franklin National Bank as a huge gambling device and money laundry. The bank collapsed in 1974 and was taken over by a group of European banks with the Vatican losing supposedly part of their grip.

Sindona was sent to an American prison for fraudulent banking. Later, he was extradited to Italy on more charges. He began talking too much. The Pope silenced him in an Italian jail---murdered with a poisoned cup of coffee. [See: "St.Peter's Banker", by Luigi DiFonzo.] By the way, the same method they used to murder Chicago's first black Mayor, Harold Washington, 1987 and replaced him as Mayor with the Vatican's "man of trust", Richie Daley, son of late Richard J. Daley who had been mayor for some 21 years. Harold when re-elected in 1987 said he was going to take over Commonwealth Edison, the local electric monopoly owned principally by the Vatican, and run it as municipal electricity at a very cheap price to Chicago residents. That was one of several motives to poison Harold Washington. We were the only ones publicizing it through our Cable TV Show later on.

Sindona and his confederate successors also ran, for the Pope, the Continental Bank of Chicago [by about 1996 merged with the Pope's Bank of America]. All the Catholic Churches of the Western Hemisphere run their money through THAT bank. After all, the Archbishop of Chicago is also the Treasurer, for the Church, for ALL OF NORTH AMERICA, CENTRAL AMERICA, and SOUTH AMERICA.

In the early 1980s, Continental Bank, through their holding company owed some 20 Billion Dollars to the Japanese including their mafia, the Yakuza who had put in flight capital [hot money]. Continental could not repay, so the Japanese in May, 1984, started a run on the bank and its holding company, Continental Illinois. Result? A consortium of banks, headed by J.P.Morgan and Company, took over---with the Pope losing part but not all of his control.[I was the first to publicly estimate the amount of the bank run, which turned out to be quite accurate.]

The Morgan banks are the front for British Royalty and the Queen, who for over 100 prior years always had a director sitting to supervise Continental. Through Continental Bank, however, the Vatican continued to oversee Panama's General Noriega, and his joint secret business deals with George Herbert Walker Bush. So, when the U.S. invaded Panama,1989, Noriega naturally sought refuge in the Vatican papal office and branch of the Vatican Bank in Panama. The U.S. Military used psychological warfare, including super hard-rock music, to drive Noriega out.

[In his book entitled "In God's Name", David Yallop tells how Italian newspaper editors criticized the Pope for doing nothing about Continental Bank and their links to the mafia. Yallop documents how the previous Pontiff,Pope John Paul 1st,opposing the mafia, was murdered after 33 days in office.]

The Justice Department's record-grabbers have descended on Continental Bank, seeking to destroy incriminating records that would put President Bush in the same jail cell with his CIA business partner, General Noriega. By the way, Panama, under General Noriega, was the ONLY country in the Western Hemisphere run by a dark-skinned person. Noriega was popular with the bulk of those in Panama, who are people of color. It was only the small, white aristocracy there that wanted him removed. They used the branches of worldwide banks there to skim-off loot from dope and gun running. Noriega was really just a small-time, semi-independent tyrant.

Helping supervise Continental Bank has been the Vatican's "man oftrust"[trusted to keep their business secrets], Chicago Federal Appeals Judge Walter J. Cummings, Jr.[he died about 1999]. For many years Cummings was chief judge of that Court made up primarily of banker-judges. Judge Cummings steered cases on to his fellow banker-judges who do NOT disqualify themselves in cases involving their financial interests. Guess who wins in their crooked court? [Cummings was replaced as Chief Judge by Richard A. Posner. See our story, "Chief Crook Enters Microsoft Mess".]

For many years the major owners of Bank of America and their holding company, Bank America, were the Jesuits and the Vatican, and their long-time cronies, the Rothschilds. Like Continental Bank up to 1984, they owed tens of Billions of Dollars to the Japanese mafia, the Yakuza who own most of the other sizeable banks in California. In the late 1980s, Bank of America was faced with a run, so they have quietly given over most of the control to the Japanese Yakuza.

Although the Pope has lost much of the control of the three banks in America, the Pontiff continues as the major owner in nuclear power utility firms in the U.S., including Commonwealth Edison and Florida Power [through a Dutch front for the Vatican, called Robeco.] Under the Atomic Energy Act, it is illegal for a FOREIGN entity, such as the Vatican, to own nuclear facilities in America. The law is not enforced. See: my story "The Electric Scandal".

Meltdown 101: Why banks' struggles have worsened

Meltdown 101: Why banks' struggles have worsened

By MARCY GORDON, AP

Business Writer Marcy Gordon, Ap

– Sat Aug 29, 12:15 am ET

WASHINGTON – Despite signs of an improving economy, the nation's banks are still struggling — in fact, the pace of bank failures has accelerated.
What would it take to turn the banking sector around? And what can people do to protect their savings in the meantime?

Here are some questions and answers about the wave of U.S. bank failures, as the latest quarterly snapshot of the industry painted a grim picture.

Q: How bad is this wave of failures?

A: A cascade of collapses began last year as the financial crisis struck.

Eighty-four banks have fallen so far this year as tumbling home prices and spiking unemployment pushed loan defaults upward. That's the largest number in a year since the early 1990s, at the apex of the savings and loan crisis. It compares with 25 bank failures last year and three in 2007.

The failures have sapped billions from the federal deposit insurance fund, which guarantees account holders' money when banks go under. The fund stood at $10.4 billion in the second quarter, its lowest point since 1992.

The biggest failure this year: Colonial Bank, a heavy regional lender in real estate development based in Montgomery, Ala., which became the sixth-largest bank failure in U.S. history on Aug. 14. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. seized Colonial and sold its $20 billion in deposits, 346 branches in five states and about $22 billion of its assets to BB&T Corp.

Some analysts believe another 100 to 300 banks could fail before the crisis runs its course, largely because of souring loans for commercial real estate. The number of institutions on the FDIC's internal "problem list" — those rated by examiners as having very low capital cushions against risk and other deficiencies — jumped to 416 at the end of June from 305 in the first quarter, the agency reported Thursday.

Q: What's behind this?

A: Banks around the country have run into trouble on their loans for construction and development, the fastest-growing category of troubled loans for U.S. banks, especially in overbuilt areas. Many companies have shut down in the recession, vacating shopping malls and office buildings financed by the loans.

Lots of banks have heavy concentrations of these loans in their lending portfolios, and some small banks are considered by regulators to be particularly vulnerable. Delinquent loan payments and defaults by commercial and residential developers have surged to the highest levels since the early 1990s, during the S&L crisis.

At the same time, some recent failures have been smaller banks brought down by garden-variety loans that have soured during the recession. Regulators say they're concerned about growing delinquencies on prime, conventional home loans.

Q: So even though the economy is starting to recover, banks are still struggling?

A: The condition of the banking industry is what economists call a lagging indicator: It falls behind the state of the economy because the problems take longer to percolate through banks, as opposed to other signposts such as consumer spending, gross domestic product or permits for building construction.

That means the pain will continue to weigh on the banking sector while the economy rebounds.

FDIC Chairman Sheila Bair offered a reminder on Thursday: "Banking industry performance is, as always, a lagging indicator."

Q: What will it take to turn the banking industry around?

A: Not much other than time, experts say.

"The only thing you could do is ... to ignore the losses that are already there," said Karen Shaw Petrou, managing partner of Federal Financial Analytics in Washington. That would be a terrible mistake, she said, noting that regulators' blind eye in the 1980s prolonged the S&L crisis.

"The best thing for the banking industry is just to take it on the chin and move on," she said.

Q: What about me? What can I do to protect my money in the bank?

A: Accounts are insured by the FDIC up to $250,000 per depositor per bank. Joint accounts are insured up to that amount for each co-owner of the account; individual retirement accounts, or IRAs, held in banks are also insured.

If you have multiple individual accounts at one bank, it's important to structure them carefully so they don't exceed the limits. The FDIC has a calculator on its Web site called the electronic deposit insurance estimator, or EDIE, that can help determine how much money in deposit accounts, if any, exceeds the insurance limits. You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/lt3aok.

For any money in a failed bank's deposit accounts that exceeds the insured limits, you become essentially a creditor of the bank. You would eventually recover some of your money, but the amount can range from 40 cents on the dollar up to the full amount. Recovery of the money could take months.

The Illuminati vol 1

The Illuminati is a group that practices a form of faith known as "enlightenment". It is Luciferian, and they teach their followers that their roots go back to the ancient mystery religions of Babylon, Egypt, and Celtic druidism. They have taken what they consider the "best" of each, the foundational practices, and joined them together into a strongly occult discipline. Many groups at the local level worship ancient deities such as "El", "Baal", and "Ashtarte", as well as "Isis and Osiris" and "Set".

Adam Weishaupt, a professor of Canon Law at Ingolstadt University and former Jesuit, formed and founded a secret society called the Order of the Illuminati on May 1, 1776, in Bavaria, within the existing Masonic lodges of Germany. Since Masonry is itself a secret society, the Illuminati was a secret society within a secret society, a mystery inside a mystery.

The parable of the sower

1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.

2And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;

4And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:

5Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:

6And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

7And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:

8But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

17For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

18Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

22He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Obama fetes Muslims at end of Ramadan

Obama fetes Muslims at end of Ramadan
(AFP) – 12 hours ago

WASHINGTON — US President Barack Obama marked the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan Saturday with his administration stressing the commonality between American culture and the values of Islam.

"As Muslims in the United States and around the world complete the month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, Michelle and I would like to extend our personal greetings on this joyous occasion," Obama said in a statement.

"Even on this festive occasion, Muslims remember those less fortunate, including those impacted by poverty, hunger, conflict, and disease," he added.

Obama highlighted Muslims' commitment to collecting and distributing charity and said his administration was "working to ensure that Muslims are able to fulfill their charitable obligations not just during Ramadan, but throughout the year."

In her own message, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stressed that Eid celebrations at the White House, pioneered by her husband Bill Clinton in 1996 when he was president, ensured that "all faiths have a home here in the United States."

"This time of self-reflection reminds us that the values of Islam -- charity, community, cooperation, compassion -- are values which we hold dear as Americans and which have contributed so much to American culture," Obama's top diplomat said.

"We know there is more that unites peoples of faith than divides us. So as Ramadan draws to a close, let us hold on to that spirit of community throughout the year to achieve our common goals of peace, prosperity, and stability."

Obama, who has Muslim heritage on his father's side of his family, vowed to forge a "new beginning" for Islam and America in a landmark speech to the world's 1.5 billion Muslims in Cairo in June.

The twenty-eight fundamentals: apostasy proclaimed in silence

Throughout the history of God's church on earth, the insinuation of apostasy has been achieved, not so much in open pronouncements, but by guile and stealth. Silence has been the major weapon upon which error has comfortably rested.

Oh Columbus

Oh Columbus

BY: Lincoln E. Steed & Barry Bussey

Nothing so defines the modern capital of the Dominican Republic as the Columbus monument, which dominates a hill just above Santo Domingo. Its soaring concrete facade—which evokes a massive ship bearing down on the land—contains more than the supposed bones of Christopher Columbus. It could just as easily be bearing the memories of religious zeal that destroyed a people in the New World.

Columbus made landfall in the Bahamas, moved on to Cuba, and then established the first outpost for European power in the New World here in what is modern-day Dominica.1 While thoughts of gold inspired the whole expedition, they were almost equally motivated to Christianize the inhabitants. Unfortunately, their methods knew no restraint. Within 50 years of the first voyage a Carib population2 estimated to be as high as 10 million had declined to about 400. Disease, forced slave labor, and unimaginable cruelties—known only because the perpetrators themselves wrote of them—led to almost total extermination.

A famous chief named Hatuey led an opposition till his capture. The conquistadores put him on a stake to burn him alive. But before lighting the fire they offered him the chance to convert—and then the offer of a cleaner death by beheading. Only by accepting the Christian faith, he was told, could he hope for heaven and an eternal life of bliss. “No,” he said, declining the offer, “I don’t want to meet any more Christians.”3

Now, so many centuries later, religion and religious dialogue have taken on a very different character in the Dominican Republic. At the International Religious Liberty Association Congress I attended we shared the value of religious freedom with leaders of many faiths and interacted with various political leaders. A Jesuit priest spoke eloquently about the freedom for all to determine their own faith direction.4 A congressman gave a very encouraging report of the in-process development of a new constitution and how it would enshrine the rights of religious faith for all. Best, it seems, to keep the bones of the past well and truly buried in the concrete of the past.

The present for the Dominican Republic was on dynamic display two days after the conference. Over 13,000 mostly young people assembled in a downtown stadium to celebrate and praise religious freedom for more than four hours. It was a highly charged program that moved along with an energy seemingly derived from the frequently cheering thousands. I will never forget the moment when, to the accompaniment of a costumed chorus and musical soloist on the stage, a “cast of hundreds” in costume enacted the freedom story of the biblical exodus.

Also on stage was Moses and Pharaoh’s court. Down on the floor a multitude of Hebrew slaves surged through the parting waters of the Red Sea (a billowing vision of cloth held by more actors). On the stage a brazier next to Pharaoh flamed up as he spoke of never letting them go. But at that moment down on the floor someone lit a huge paper-wrapped column that literally became the pillar of fire leading them to freedom. Thank God for religious liberty. And the crowd cheered!

P.S. A few detailed observations:

  1. The first European settlement in the New World was at La Navidad on the north coast of the island; Which was named Hispaniola by Christopher Columbus (Quisqueya), currently in modern Haiti. La Navidad was later abandoned due to the natives' attacks that killed all the Spaniards, and a permanent settlement was established on the south coast, on the western bank of the Ozama River in the present site of the Capital of the Dominican Republic: Santo Domingo de Guzman Republica Dominicana; not Dominica, that's a totally different island and history! Still this new settlement predates any other permanent European settlement in the Western Hemisphere; Even, the settlements of Jamestown and Plymouth. From Santo Domingo, the Conquitadores would set off to explore and conquer the Caribbean islands, Florida, Central and South America.
  2. Most of the inhabitants of Quisqueya (Hispaniola) were Taino of the Arawak family of tribes. The Caribs were a small minority on the Island when Columbus arrived. The Caribs were mainly a seafaring people that thrived on conquest and fishing. Most Caribs lived in the Lesser Antilles: From The Virgin Islands to Trinidad.
  3. Hatuey was a Taino native of Quisqueya; But, he abandoned the island for good when the Spanish settlers began to mistreat and enslave the Tainos. Hatuey fled to the island of Siboney (Cuba); where he plays a more dramatic part of that island's history.
  4. When Columbus arrived, he brought Dominican Priests (note the name Dominican Republic) on his voyage; These same Dominican Priests (note Santo Domingo) headed the Inquisition in Europe, and the christianization of the Taino people on Quisqueya. Within 50 years (after they had decimated the native Taino populace) a new order was established that replaced the Dominicans' dominant role of the Inquisition: Loyola's Jesuits. It's ironic that a Jesuit should be a featured speaker at a Religious Liberty Festival. What an oxymoron? Religious Liberty and Jesuits don't jibe too well. Have any of the organizers of that Festival ever read the history of the Reformation? Or, have they read the description of the Jesuits in the book The Great Controversy? It surely was a Festival; One to come and leave your thinking caps at home, and just wear your festive frijian cap! It's a good thing that it wasn't a Carnival. Then, maybe the fireworks would have been live!

This article could have been more appropriately titled "Oh the Facts";

Or, even "Oh Ellen G. White, The Reformers, and the poor remnant without a clue".

Santo Domingo's First Festival of Religious Freedom

http://www.festivalofreligiousfreedom.org/images/stories/dominicanrepublicfestivalreligiousfreedom2.jpg

04 May 2009, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic... [Barry W. Bussey]

Over 13,000 people filled Santo Domingo’s arena on Saturday May 2, to celebrate religious freedom. It was the first Festival of Religious Freedom held in the Inter-America region. The Festival capped of the region’s meeting of the International Religious Liberty Association. Delegates from 13 countries met in the Dominican Republic’s capital April 28-30 where they heard from religious liberty scholars and activists on the historical and current trends of religious freedom in Latin America.
Exquisitely choreographed
- the Festival was peppered with Biblical drama and music highlighting the divine call to free people from religious oppression.Stories of Moses, Jesus with His disciples, and the leaders of the Reformation overcoming persecution were convincingly presented by Club de Conquistadores de Higüey with appropriate audio and visual effects – including a spontaneous “pillar” of real fire that electrified everyone’s attention. (No word on whether the local fire officials were standing at bay). Hundreds of young people were employed to stage the event.
Club Conquistadores La Romana performed a march on the arena floor that morphed into various shapes symbolic of the Christian faith including the cross. Their precision march was appreciated by those with a bird’s eye view of the stadium floor. The ease with which they fell in line spoke to the incredible investment in preparation.
Pastor Josias de Trinidad moved the audience with his powerful expression on the piano playing historical songs of faith. Obviously satisfying his listeners as they gave him a thunderous applause. He demurred - instead raising his hand high to signify that such recognition belonged only to His Lord. Music also came from a number of choirs, bands, and other soloists including Wander Bello, Maribel Soto, Fanny Arcena, and José Gómez.
The event organizers, Pastors Roberto Herrera, L. M. Acevedo, Lic. Javier, and lawyer Miguel Núñez are credited with putting together the team who put produced a no-holds barred presentation. Dr. Eugene Hsu, Dr. John Graz, Barry Bussey of the General Conference and Lincoln Steed, Editor of Liberty Magazine, were also in attendance. Dr. Graz congratulated the Dominican Republic on its high standing amongst those countries in the world that provide its citizens with religious freedom.
Earlier in the week the delegates to the IRLA Inter-America meeting heard from religious liberty scholars, and representatives from a number of faith communities on the historical and current trends of religious freedom in Latin America. A consistent theme throughout the presentations was the recognition that religious freedom not only includes the right to practice ones faith but to be treated equally with the majority religion in the respective country. Examples were given of some Latin America countries that authorized only the majority religion’s clergy to perform marriages.
Professor Rosa Maria Martínez de Codes opened the meeting with a recognition that government must reflect the changing reality in society. Latin America is very different from 50 years ago when not every religion was accepted. Today there is a greater plurality that requires a change in views. The fact that the Roman Catholic Church enjoys privileges she noted, “doesn’t mean the other religions should not be so recognized.” She gave the example of Spain that took over 10 years of negotiation to arrive at a comprehensive agreement of recognition for other religious communities.
“Catholic preachers said I belonged to the devil because I was evangelical,” said Pastor Braulio Portes, President of the Christianization Church in the country. He then noted that when he was a teenager he was told, “… the Catholics were of the devil. I was confused.” As the mainly Adventist audience chuckled he went on, “Adventists don’t laugh – you were included with the devil too.”
Portes was part of a panel discussion with Rabi Oisiki Ghiti of the Jewish Community, Rev. Francisco Javier Colino, professor of the Major Jesuit Seminar, and Obispo Cesar Holguin Kourry a clergy of the Episcopal Church. All noted the changes in understanding toward religious freedom in Latin America in the current context.
“The human being is the foundation of our society with rights that nobody can destroy,” Rev. Colino, of the Roman Catholic Church, said to the delegates, “We need to allow the churches to work with liberty and freedom to share the true liberty God offers to men -to seek truth without pressure and violence. Religious Institutions need to help society. Religious liberty is our human right government cannot change its position on human rights. And if privileges are given to one religion we must have rights to everyone.”
Colino called upon everyone to work together in protecting religious liberty. However everyone is guilty he noted in not doing more. “As religious leaders we need to respect the rights of everyone…. We need to be united and raise voices together to every creature in every land to seek whatever religion they like. We can gather together with Jesus. Peace is the greatest thing we have. Jesus is with us and in us – He also faced difficulty when he was with us. We are here because we need to express love – first to God – a great privilege to love the lord – and second to love the other people. Finally we have to love ourselves because if we love ourselves we lover other people and we love the Lord.”
Dr. Scot E. Isaacson and Dr. Patrick Thurston provided the delegates with a historical review of the experience of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Latin America. A humble missionary beginning in the 1850s to being a major religious movement in the region today has a history of trial and perseverance against religious discrimination and persecution.
Dr. Israel Leito, President of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists, reminded the delegates that there is still a ways to go in the region to protect religious freedom. He suggested that there is “intolerance without boundaries.” “In most of our countries they recognize just one church.” He bemoaned the fact that in some situations the government says where a church may be built – “In other countries the church building has to be smaller than the main church.” “To receive tolerance we must be tolerant and defend the right of everyone to praise the Lord as they want. Religious liberty requires respect to government officials.” “We need to support the person suffering for his religion,” Leito concluded, “it might be happening to him today but to me tomorrow.”“It is a great accomplishment,” Dr. Graz notes, “for the Dominican Republic to have hosted this event. They have much to be proud of. The congress was very good and on Saturday the Festival fabulous. The program was so good that 4 hours were like one.”

Rev. Francisco Javier Colino, professor of the Major Jesuit Seminar:
.

Reverend Francisco Javier Colino S.J.? Where is these people's discernment?
.

Way too much wine of Babylon to understand the ramifications of this person's presence!

.
No idea on what organization persecutes the remnant few in Latin America, or the rest of the world according to the facts, and as stated in the Bible? Go back to Christian basics, study the Word! Read the books of Daniel and Revelation, perhaps, maybe then you will choose your friends more wisely!

Ephesians 5:6-18 -

6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Update 12/31/2011

Curiosity brought me back to this article today.  I discovered all the pictures were blank, and when I attempted to go to the original article: (http://www.festivalofreligiousfreedom.org/Festival%20Reports/SantoDomingo.html), it was no longer there.  Apparently, someone who read my comments about the (presence of a Jesuit at this spectacle) above article decided to clear his or their tracks.  Here is the article from where I acquired the current picture (not as direct as  the original ones).  I wonder how long that article and the picture I posted today will last?

One Lord, one faith, one baptism

Ephesians 4

1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

7But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20But ye have not so learned Christ;

21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27Neither give place to the devil.

28Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

P.S.

One Lord,

The Lord Jesus Christ;

one faith,

The Faith once delivered to the Saints;

one baptism

Baptism by immersion of Adults or Children; not infants.

Stand Up! Stand Up for Jesus!

618

1
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
his army shall he lead,
till every foe is vanquished,
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict,
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are brave now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose.

3
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4
Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil
a crown of life shall be;
they with the King of Glory
shall reign eternally.

Reject defamation of religions laws, panel of experts advises

Hate speech legislation could be enforced unequally, religious liberty advocates say

Addressing the scope of proposed legislation against hate speech, members of the International Religious Liberty Association's Board of Experts drafted a statement deeming defamation of religions laws unnecessary last week during the group's 11th annual meeting.

Existing international human rights law is a sufficient means of protecting faith groups against hate speech that may result in discrimination or violence, members agreed during September 1 to 3 talks at the Seventh-day Adventist world church headquarters and locations in Washington, D.C.

The statement comes as international bodies such as the United Nations advocate specific laws targeting hate speech in an effort to preempt crimes fueled by religious hatred.

While experts agreed with the motivation behind such laws, they said enforcement could backfire, infringing upon individual freedoms of expression, which include the right to criticize religious beliefs and practices.

"While there are laws that already guarantee religious liberty, if I'm offended, I can appeal to this other law that overrides the first," said Robert Seiple, former United States ambassador for International Religious Freedom, hypothesizing on the moral conundrum he and other panel members say defamation of religions laws can create.

"Good laws and great lawyers don't guarantee good behavior," he added.

The statement reiterates conclusions board members made when they first met to discuss the then-emerging issue of defamation of religions last fall in Bucharest, Romania. Without a universally accepted definition of defamation of religions, experts worried that laws seeking to eliminate hate speech might be enforced arbitrarily and unequally.

While panel members such as Rosa Maria Martinez de Codes, a professor at Spain's Universidad Complutense in Madrid, agreed that there must be a "margin of respect" for differing beliefs, the panel concluded that dialogue and education, rather than legislation, can best cultivate such an attitude.

Among several suggestions, the statement proposes that government, educational and religious leaders encourage "understanding, tolerance, respect and friendship" among members of various faith communities.

"We must elevate our thinking beyond the common denominator of basic tolerance to true understanding," Seiple said.

The statement also calls for human rights advocates to "closely monitor" the enforcement of defamation of religions laws already passed to guard against any "counterproductive consequences."

Members hope that in addition to human rights experts and the United Nations, the statement will reach members of the non-governmental agency community and heads of state.

How about The Three Angels' Messages?
Will they be left for later, when the time is right?

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide...
Micah 7:5a.
.

The Lord is Merciful

Micah 7

1Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.

2The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

3That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

4The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

5Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

6For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

7Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

8Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

10Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

11In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

12In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

13Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

14Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

15According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.

16The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.

17They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the LORD our God, and shall fear because of thee.

18Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

19He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

20Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

Why is it?

I heard this on the radio on America's Trucking Network:
  1. Why is it, that if you cross the border into North Korea you're caught and sentenced to hard labor, etc..?

  2. Why is it, that if you hike into Iran you are sentenced to prison for x years, etc..?

  3. Why is it if you sneak into the United States you get a Driver's Licence, a Social Security Card, etc..?

Operation Mockingbird
By Alex Constantine

Who Controls the Media?

Soulless corporations do, of course. Corporations
with grinning, double-breasted executives,
interlocking directorates, labor squabbles and
flying capital. Dow. General Electric. Coca-Cola.
Disney. Newspapers should have mastheads that
mirror the world: The Westinghouse Evening
Scimitar, The Atlantic-Richfield Intelligentser .
It is beginning to dawn on a growing number of
armchair ombudsmen that the public print reports
news from a parallel universe - one that has never
heard of politically-motivated assassinations,
CIA-Mafia banking thefts, mind control, death
squads or even federal agencies with secret budgets
fattened by cocaine sales - a place overrun by lone
gunmen, where the CIA and Mafia are usually on
their best behavior. In this idyllic land, the most
serious infraction an official can commit __is a
the employment of a domestic servant with (shudder)
no residency status.

This unlikely land of enchantment is the creation
of MOCKINGBIRD.

It was conceived in the late 1940s, the most frigid
period of the cold war, when the CIA began a
systematic infiltration of the corporate media, a
process that often included direct takeover of
major news outlets.

In this period, the American intelligence services
competed with communist activists abroad to
influence European labor unions. With or without
the cooperation of local governments, Frank Wisner,
an undercover State Department official assigned to
the Foreign Service, rounded up students abroad to
enter the cold war underground of covert operations
on behalf of his Office of Policy Coordination.
Philip Graham, __a graduate of the Army
Intelligence School in Harrisburg, PA, then
publisher of the Washington Post., was taken under
Wisner's wing to direct the program code-named
Operation MOCKINGBIRD.

"By the early 1950s," writes former Village Voice
reporter Deborah Davis in Katharine the Great,
"Wisner 'owned' respected members of the New York
Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communications
vehicles, plus stringers, four to six hundred in
all, according to a former CIA analyst." The
network was overseen by Allen Dulles, a templar for
German and American corporations who wanted their
points of view represented in the public print.
Early MOCKINGBIRD influenced 25 newspapers and wire
agencies consenting to act as organs of CIA
propaganda. Many of these were already run by men
with reactionary views, among them William Paley
(CBS), C.D. Jackson (Fortune), Henry Luce (Time)
and Arthur Hays Sulzberger (N.Y. Times).

Activists curious about the workings of MOCKINGBIRD
have since been appalled to find in FOIA
documents that agents boasting in CIA office memos
of their pride in having placed "important assets"
inside every major news publication in the country.
It was not until 1982 that the Agency openly
admitted that reporters on the CIA payroll have
acted as case officers to agents in the field.

"World War III has begun," Henry's Luce's Life
declared in March, 1947. "It is in the opening
skirmish stage already." The issue featured an
excerpt of a book by James Burnham, who called for
the creation of an "American Empire,"
"world-dominating in political power, set up at
least in part through coercion (probably including
war, but certainly the threat of war) and in which
one group of people ... would hold more than its
equal share of power."

George Seldes, the famed anti-fascist media critic,
drew down on Luce in 1947, explaining that
"although avoiding typical Hitlerian phrases, the
same doctrine of a superior people taking over the
world and ruling it, began to appear in the press,
whereas the organs of Wall Street were much more
honest in favoring a doctrine inevitably leading to
war if it brought greater commercial markets under
the American flag."

On the domestic front, an abiding relationship was
struck between the CIA and William Paley, a wartime
colonel and the founder of CBS. A firm believer in
"all forms of propaganda" to foster loyalty to the
Pentagon, Paley hired CIA agents to work undercover
at the behest of his close friend, the busy grey
eminence of the nation's media, Allen Dulles.
Paley's designated go-between in his dealings with
the CIA was Sig Mickelson, president of CBS News
from 1954 to 1961.

The CIA's assimilation of old guard fascists was
overseen by the Operations Coordination Board,
directed by C.D. Jackson, formerly an executive of
Time magazine and Eisenhower's Special Assistant
for Cold War Strategy. In 1954 he was succeeded by
Nelson Rockefeller, who quit a year later,
disgusted at the administration's political
infighting. Vice President Nixon succeeded
Rockefeller as the key cold war strategist.

"Nixon," writes John Loftus, a former attorney for
the Justice Department's Office of Special
Investigations, took "a small boy's delight in the
arcane tools of the intelligence craft - the hidden
microphones, the 'black' propaganda." Nixon
especially enjoyed his visit to a Virginia training
camp to observe Nazis in the "special forces"
drilling at covert operations.

One of the fugitives recruited by the American
intelligence underground was heroin smuggler Hubert
von Blcher, the son of A German ambassador. Hubert
often bragged that that he was trained by the
Abwehr, the German military intelligence division,
while still a civilian in his twenties. He served
in a recon unit of the German Army until forced out
for medical reasons in 1944, according to his
wartime records. He worked briefly as an assistant
director for Berlin-Film on a movie entitled One
Day ..., and finished out the war flying with the
Luftwaffe, but not to engage the enemy - his
mission was the smuggling of Nazi loot out of the
country. His exploits were, in part, the subject of
Sayer and Botting's Nazi Gold, an account of the
knockover of the Reichsbank at the end of the war.

In 1948 he flew the coop to Argentina. Posing as a
photographer named Huberto von Bleucher Corell, he
immediately paid court to Eva Peron, presenting her
with an invaluable Gobelin tapestry (a selection
from the wealth of artifacts confiscated by the SS
from Europe's Jews?). Hubert then met with Martin
Bormann at the Hotel Plaza to deliver German marks
worth $80 million. The loot financed the birth of
the National Socialist Party in Argentina, among
other forms of Nazi revival.

In 1951, Hubert migrated northward and took a job
at the Color Corporation of America in Hollywood.
He eked out a living writing scripts for the
booming movie industry. His voice can be heard on a
film set in the Amazon, produced by Walt Disney.
Nine years later he returned to Buenos Aires, then
Dsseldorf, West Germany, and established a firm
that developed not movie scripts, but anti-chemical
warfare agents for the government. At the Industrie
Club in Dsseldorf in 1982, von Blcher boasted to
journalists, "I am chief shareholder of Pan
American Airways. I am the best friend of Howard
Hughes. The Beach Hotel in Las Vegas is 45 percent
financed by me. I am thus the biggest financier
ever to appear in the Arabian Nights tales dreamed
up by these people over their second bottle of
brandy."

Not really. Two the biggest financiers to stumble
from the drunken dreams of world-moving affluence
were, in their time, Moses Annenberg, publisher of
The Philadelphia Inquirer, and his son Walter , the
CIA/mob-anchored publisher of the TV Guide. Like
most American high-rollers, Annenberg lived a
double life. Moses, his father, was a scion of the
Capone mob. Both Moses and Walter were indicted in
1939 for tax evasions totalling many millions of
dollars - the biggest case in the history of the
Justice Department. Moses pled guilty and agreed to
pay the government $8 million and settle $9 million
in assorted tax claims, penalties and interest
debts. Moses received a three-year sentence. He
died in Lewisburg Penitentiary.

Walter Annenbeg, the TV Guide magnate, was a lofty
Republican. On the campaign trail in April, 1988,
George Bush flew into Los Angeles to woo Reagan's
kitchen cabinet. "This is the topping on the cake,"
Bush's regional campaign director told the Los
Angeles Times. The Bush team met at Annenberg's
plush Rancho Mirage estate at Sunnylands,
California. It was at the Annenberg mansion that
Nixon's cabinet was chosen, and the state's social
and contributor registers built over a
quarter-century of state political dominance by
Ronald Reagan, whose acting career was launched by
Operation MOCKINGBIRD.

The commercialization of television, coinciding
with Reagan's recruitment by the Crusade for
Freedom, a CIA front, presented the intelligence
world with unprecedented potential for sowing
propaganda and even prying in the age of Big
Brother. George Orwell glimpsed the possibilities
when he installed omniscient video surveillance
technology in 1948, a novel rechristened 1984 for
the first edition published in the U.S. by
Harcourt, Brace. Operation Octopus, according to
federal files, was in full swing by 1948, a
surveillance program that turned any television set
with tubes into a broadcast transmitter. Agents of
Octopus could pick up audio and visual images with
the equipment as far as 25 miles away.

Hale Boggs was investigating Operation Octopus at
the time of his disappearance in the midst of the
Watergate probe.

In 1952, at MCA, Actors' Guild president Ronald
Reagan - a screen idol recruited by MOCKINGBIRD's
Crusade for Freedom to raise funds for the
resettlement of Nazis in the U.S., according to
Loftus - signed a secret waiver of the
conflict-of-interest rule with the mob-controlled
studio, in effect granting it a labor monopoly on
early television programming. In exchange, MCA made
Reagan a part owner. Furthermore, historian C. Vann
Woodward, writing in the New York Times, in 1987,
reported that Reagan had "fed the names of suspect
people in his organization to the FBI secretly and
regularly enough to be assigned 'an informer's code
number, T-10.' His FBI file indicates intense
collaboration with producers to 'purge' the
industry of subversives."

No one ever turned a suspicious eye on Walter
Cronkite, a former intelligence officer and in the
immediate postwar period UPI's Moscow
correspondent. Cronkite was lured to CBS by
Operation MOCKINGBIRD's Phil Graham, according to
Deborah Davis.

Another television conglomerate, Cap Cities, rose
like a horror-film simian from CIA and Mafia heroin
operations. Among other organized-crime
Republicans, Thomas Dewey and his neighbor Lowell
Thomas threw in to launch the infamous Resorts
International, the corporate front for Lansky's
branch of the federally-sponsored mob family and
the corporate precursor to Cap Cities. Another of
the investors was James Crosby, a Cap Cities
executive who donated $100,000 to Nixon's 1968
presidential campaign. This was the year that
Resorts bought into Atlantic City casino interests.
Police in New jersey attempted, with no success, to
spike the issuance of a gambling license to the
company, citing Mafia ties.

In 1954, this same circle of investors, all
Catholics, founded the broadcasting company
notorious for overt propagandizing and general
spookiness. The company's chief counsel was OSS
veteran William Casey, who clung to his shares by
concealing them in a blind trust even after he was
appointed CIA director by Ronald Reagan in 1981.

"Black radio" was the phrase CIA critic David Wise
coined in The Invisible Government to describe the
agency's intertwining interests in the emergence of
the transistor radio with the entrepreneurs who
took to the airwaves. "Daily, East and West beam
hundreds of propaganda broadcasts at each other in
an unrelenting babble of competition for the minds
of their listeners. The low-price transistor has
given the hidden war a new importance," enthused
one foreign correspondent.

A Hydra of private foundations sprang up to finance
the propaganda push. One of them, Operations and
Policy Research, Inc. (OPR), received hundreds of
thousands of dollars from the CIA through private
foundations and trusts. OPR research was the basis
of a television series that aired in New York and
Washington, D.C. in 1964, Of People and Politics, a
"study" of the American political system in 21
weekly installments.

In Hollywood, the visual cortex of The Beast, the
same CIA/Mafia combination that formed Cap Cities
sank its claws into the film studios and labor
unions. Johnny Rosselli was pulled out of the Army
during the war by a criminal investigation of
Chicago mobsters in the film industry. Rosselli, a
CIA asset probably assassinated by the CIA, played
sidekick to Harry Cohn, the Columbia Pictures mogul
who visited Italy's Benito Mussolini in 1933, and
upon his return to Hollywood remodeled his office
after the dictator's. The only honest job Rosselli
ever had was assistant purchasing agent (and a
secret investor) at Eagle Lion productions, run by
Bryan Foy, a former producer for 20th Century Fox.
Rosselli, Capone's representative on the West
Coast, passed a small fortune in mafia investments
to Cohn. Bugsy Seigel pooled gambling investments
with Billy Wilkerson, publisher of the Hollywood
Reporter.

In the 1950s, outlays for global propaganda climbed
to a full third of the CIA's covert operations
budget. Some 3, 000 salaried and contract CIA
employees were eventually engaged in propaganda
efforts. The cost of disinforming the world cost
American taxpayers an estimated $265 million a year
by 1978, a budget larger than the combined
expenditures of Reuters, UPI and the AP news
syndicates.

In 1977, the Copely News Service admitted that it
worked closely with the intelligence services - in
fact, 23 employees were full-time employees of the
Agency.

Most consumers of the corporate media were - and
are - unaware of the effect that the salting of
public opinion has on their own beliefs. A network
anchorman in time of national crisis is an
instrument of psychological warfare in the
MOCKINGBIRD media. He is a creature from the
national security sector's chamber of horrors. For
this reason consumers of the corporate press have
reason to examine their basic beliefs about
government and life in the parallel universe of
these United States.

The Under Cover Christian

The Undercover Christian

Silent witnessing vs What did Jesus Do? (WDJD)

When I was a new christian, pastors and other christian workers were always trying to give us tips about how to witness to Christ. I went to some beach evangelism and campus evangelism outreaches, which often used a cold-turkey and aggressive style of witnessing to a total stranger with a booklet which had the four principles of finding salvation or other similar methods. But I found that these confrontational methods to complete strangers were immeasurably uncomfortable for me and seemingly awkward for the person I was trying to evangelize.

Then, years later, after settling into the work-a-day office or construction environment, I soon concluded that the confrontational method of evangelism when used in the workplace would either get me a punch in the mouth or fired or both, (at least this is what I feared). So I opted for the "007 method " of evangelism, that is, being God's little "secret agent", working undercover and just "being there" with my little personal testimony, my life filled with the presence of Christ.

At least that was the theory, people were some how supposed to see Christ in my life and that would lead them to want to know more about Him. But in fact my life wasn't always filled with Christ, and my lips weren't always ready with an answer to those who derided God or the Gospel. The net result of all this secret service was that in 30 years I cannot think of one person who I personally led to Christ by this approach. I say this to my own embarrassment and incompetence, I chose the coward's way out, and just kept my little candle safely underneath my little bushel basket where nobody would get burned, especially me. And the score at the end of the day of using this approach was Satan 100%, God 0%.

Naturally, what should I have expected?? This method is UN-BIBLICAL !!! "Silent Witnessing" favors everybody staying in their comfort zone, and nothing else. For the sinner, who wants to basically be left alone so he/she can go on enjoying the pleasures of sin for as many seasons as they can, the Silent Method of evangelism is PERFECT. No bothersome Bible-thumping hypocrites (their words) raining on their parade of sin, no Holy Ghost conviction of sin, no reminders of feelings of guilt that they long-ago suppressed... just peace and tranquility, and watching the silly little christian hypocrite denying himself the pleasures of this world which he probably enjoys in secret anyway (their words again).

And for the Secret Agent (non)-Witness Christian, more peace and tranquility. No bothersome studying my Bible to be able to adequately answer someone about why I believe in Jesus; no painful embarrassment from the rejection which we all know will come when we try to "witness" to an acquaintance at work; no possible recriminations from the boss who is bound to object to our taking up precious work-time on the clock for "talking religion"...just the inner knowledge that even though I dont exactly know what is happening, somehow, in some mysterious spiritual way, people are being won to Christ by me just walking around with an enigmatic smile on my face and refusing to go out for a beer with the gang after work.

Well, I am sorry for bursting anyone's little spiritual bubble, especially my own, but the silent approach never won anyone in Bible times, or since, neither can it do the job today. Jesus said,

"I have not come to send peace, but a sword !" (Matt 10:34)

Why is this? This would seem to be so out of character for "Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild". The problem is, there is no Bible verse which says "Gentle Jesus Meek and Mild" !! This picture of Christ as non-confrontational and politically correct is simply NOT TRUE. This is a LIE made-up by the prince of liars, Satan, to lull Christians into a state of silence, afraid of hurting people's feelings and damaging relationships...

Mat 10:34-39 (KJV)

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:

I came not to send peace, but a sword.

{35} For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,

and the daughter against her mother,

and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

{36} And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

{37} He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me:

and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

{38} And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. {39} He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Apparently Jesus is less worried about whether we risk making a few enemies of our families and friends by telling them the Gospel, than He is the risk that these people that we hold dear will slip off into a Christless eternity from which there is no turning back.

And Why is this? Because Jesus is the ultimate realist. He has been to Hell. He created Hell, not for men, but for Satan and the fallen angels. But He will cast those people who reject His suffering and death on the Cross into this horrible place. And Jesus has done everything in His power short of violating our free choice to provide a way out of Hell. So for Jesus, the risk of hurting somebody's feelings is irrelevant compared to the risk of that person's eternal death. Consider this verse....

{47} And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out:

it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye,

than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

{48} Where their worm (maggots) dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Mark 9:47-48 (KJV)

Jesus is telling us that, as horrible as losing an eye would be, even by your own hand, it is not as horrible as having to spend eternity in Hell...Eternity...never to get out...ever...where that which consumes you does not end...ever...

So what are we afraid of? Have we found our lives now, and decided, "Hey ! Life is pretty darn good. Let's not do anything that will upset anybody...and spoil our fun. Life is all kindof warm and fuzzy here...good wages...nice working environment, lots of respect from my co-workers and underlings....shhhhh..don't say a word...Jesus lives in my heart, but let's not weird anyone out by reading my Bible at lunch....shhhhhhh....people are going to hell all around me but.....well that's their decision....if I quote Bible passages to them they will think I am an idiot....they will say "how can you believe in that archaic book with all its awful rules in this new millenium..grow up pal"....shhhh...Jesus loves me this I know...shhhhh...". And so it goes.

But Jesus says "

"I know you well--you are neither hot nor cold; I wish you were one or the other! {16} But since you are merely lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth! {17} "You say, 'I am rich, with everything I want; I don't need a thing!' And you don't realize that spiritually you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

Rev 3:15-17 (TLB) and He goes on to say....

"I continually discipline and punish everyone I love; so I must punish you unless you turn from your indifference and become enthusiastic about the things of God. Rev 3:19 (TLB)

And when they had brought them, they set them before the council:

and the high priest asked them,{28} Saying,

Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name?

and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine,
and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

{29} Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said,

We ought to obey God rather than men.

Acts 5:27-29 (KJV)

And if we ought to obey God, what are we supposed to do? You don't have to be an obnoxious collar-grabber " Are you saved.....brother???". On the other hand, if people see your Godly behaviour, because you are filled with the fragrance of Christ, let them know in no uncertain terms that it is Christ in You, that makes you that way, and not that YOU are such a good person. Don't be afraid to carry your Bible around, read it at lunch, in the lunchroom or wherever you are. You'd be surprised at the opportunities for witnessing this will open up.

Don't engage in dirty-joke-telling...don't even listen to them. Let them make fun of you for being a "prude" but have an answer from the Bible ready....like, "I used to tell jokes like that before I knew Jesus..but now I would rather use my mouth to give Him Glory"...it might get you a few cat-calls, but so what? Jesus suffered a lot worse than that for you.

I actually used to have a little fun with the non-christians where I worked, because they knew exactly where I stood for Christ. When I would come into the lunch-room, if they were telling dirty jokes, they would stop, (I never said anything or told them to do that..the Holy Spirit must have just hit them with conviction or something).

I remember one instance when some men I had witnessed to, and who always rejected the Word, were playing cards at the far end of the lunchroom, and did'nt see me come in. One man had just lost the game, and said in a very loud and angry voice, "Jesus Christ!!!!" He looked up and saw me standing there, and I was just looking at him in a neutral expression. So I said, " He heard you. What did you want to say to Him.??" The man looked at me confusedly and said, "What?? Who??" I said, "Why, the Lord Jesus of course! You were calling out His name. I supposed that you wanted to do some praying and talk to Him about something. Do you want me to come over there and pray with you ???" He said, "You know, You are NUTS !!!" and stormed out of the room. And then I looked around, and everybody else was sitting there with their mouths open staring. And after that, the filthy talk was almost non-existent in that room whenever I came in. I don't know why...

Of course, I eventually paid the price for that encounter. A short time later, somebody drew an obscene picture of me in one of the men's locker room stalls with my name on it, and a few derogatory words about me. I just left them there, to see what would happen. They stayed up for about 4 days, and then somebody took some solvent and cleaned all the filthy writing off all the bathroom stall walls.

Nobody said that coming out from undercover would be easy. It may even cost you your job, as it did in my case. But again I say, "So What!!" God may have something even more blessed for you to do than what you think you are enjoying now. This is how it turned out for me. I am blessed every day doing the Lord's work, something which I never thought I would hear myself say.

{7} But all these things that I once thought very worthwhile--

now I've thrown them all away so that I can put my trust and hope in Christ alone.

{8} Yes, everything else is worthless

when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

I have put aside all else, counting it worth less than nothing,

in order that I can have Christ,

{9} and become one with him, no longer counting on being saved by being good enough

or by obeying God's laws, but by trusting Christ to save me;

for God's way of making us right with himself depends on faith-- counting on Christ alone.

{10} Now I have given up everything else-- I have found it to be the only way to really know

Christ and to experience the mighty power that brought him back to life again,

and to find out what it means to suffer and to die with him.

{11} So whatever it takes,

I will be one who lives in the fresh newness of life

of those who are alive from the dead.

Phil 3:7-11(TLB)

God Bless you, friends, as you live your lives for Him !!

In Christ.....brother bob..........

God Bless You.....brother bob.......<>< [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] "The more that the Minister of CHRIST associates with His Master, through contemplation of His life and character, the more closely will he resemble Him, and the better qualified will he be to teach His truths. Every feature in the life of the great Example should be studied with care, and close converse should be held with Him through the prayer of living faith. So will the defective human character be transformed into the image of His glorious character. Thus will the teacher of the truth be prepared to lead souls to CHRIST."
