Tornadoes, Heavy Rain and Flooding for Eastern U.S.
By NED POTTER
March 11, 2010
At least it's not snowing anymore. The unusually-harsh winter of 2010 is giving way to spring -- which brings the problems of rain, flooding, and in some places, tornadoes.
Eight states report wind damage, hail and flooding.
Today a cold front swung from the Southeast toward the Eastern Seaboard, causing tornadoes in Arkansas late Wednesday, including one that tracked across much of the state, killing one person.
There was a threat of tornadoes today in Florida, from Tampa Bay to the Orlando area, and parts of Alabama got 7 inches of rain.
Now the front is moving toward the Northeast.
"In central New York, northeastern Pennsylvania and up into central New England, we're looking at a couple of feet of snow melting very quickly," said Mike Sowko of the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center of NOAA, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. "We're going to have three, four, in some isolated places five inches of rain over the next few days. When you combine that with the melting snow, that's a lot of water that has to drain."

Democrat Rep. John Conyers’ Wife, Monica Conyers Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Bribery
Democrat Rep. John Conyers’ Wife, Monica Conyers Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Bribery after a federal judge refused to toss out her guilty plea.
Conyers wished to withdraw her guilty plea, claiming "badgering" as the reason she submitted the plea in the first place. However, upon reviewing the transcript of the June hearing, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn concluded Conyers had voluntarily pleaded guilty to conspiracy after denying any coercion.
Conyers had pleaded guilty in a cash which she admitted supporting a Houston company's sludge contract by taking cash. Upon leaving the courtroom, Conyers declared she would appeal and had previously stated, "I'm not going to jail for something I didn't do."

Major Aftershock Jolts Chile
By ALEXEI BARRIONUEVO and JACK HEALY
Published: March 11, 2010
Chile’s Navy rapidly issued a tsunami alert, and Chilean television carried reports of residents of coastal areas fleeing for higher ground. There were no immediate reports of damage, but in the capital of Santiago, 95 miles north of the epicenters, windows rattled, buildings trembled and cell phone service went down.
In the coastal city of Valparaiso, about 90 miles from the site of Thursday’s earthquakes, dignitaries who gathered for the inauguration of President Sebastián Piñera made nervous jokes and glanced at the shuddering ceiling of the National Congress building as the quakes hit, according to news reports.
Mr. Piñera, however, showed no sign of acknowledging the tremors, and continued to shake hands with leaders and supporters before taking the oath of office. But the building was evacuated after the inauguration.
The first of the three major aftershocks hit at 11:39 a.m., with a magnitude of 7.2. It the strongest to hit since Chile was ravaged by an 8.8-magnitude quake on Feb. 27.
The United States Geological Survey reported that the quake struck the coast near the city of Rancagua, and was quickly followed by one of 6.9 magnitude at 11:55 a.m., and another of 6.0 magnitude at 12:06 p.m.Scores of strong aftershocks have rattled Chile’s interior and its coastline since one of the most powerful earthquakes on record, at magnitude 8.9, devastated the country on Feb. 27. That quake killed hundreds of people, toppled apartment buildings and bridges, and stirred up powerful waves that wiped away entire fishing villages as they pounded the southern coast of the country.
The United States Geological Survey also reported that two other shocks, with magnitudes of about 5.0, hit the central part of Chile and its south earlier Thursday.
Noah's Flood
The people first beheld the destruction of the works of their own hands. Their splendid buildings, and the beautiful gardens and groves where they had placed their idols, were destroyed by lightning from heaven, and the ruins were scattered far and wide. The altars on which human sacrifices had been offered were torn down, and the worshipers were made to tremble at the power of the living God, and to know that it was their corruption and idolatry which had called down their destruction.
As the violence of the storm increased, trees, buildings, rocks, and earth were hurled in every direction. The terror of man and beast was beyond description. Above the roar of the tempest was heard the wailing of a people that had despised the authority of God. Satan himself, who was compelled to remain in the midst of the warring elements, feared for his own existence. He had delighted to control so powerful a race, and desired them to live to practice their abominations and continue their rebellion against the Ruler of heaven. He now uttered imprecations against God, charging Him with injustice and cruelty. Many of the people, like Satan, blasphemed God, and had they been able, they would have torn Him from the throne of power. Others were frantic with fear, stretching their hands toward the ark and pleading for admittance. But their entreaties were in vain. Conscience was at last aroused to know that there is a God who ruleth in the heavens. They called upon Him earnestly, but His ear was not open to their cry. In that terrible hour they saw that the transgression of God’s law had caused their ruin. Yet while, through fear of punishment, they acknowledged their sin, they felt no true contrition, no abhorrence of evil. They would have returned to their defiance of Heaven, had the judgment been removed. So when God’s judgments shall fall upon the earth before its deluge by fire, the impenitent will know just where and what their sin is -- the despising of His holy law. Yet they will have no more true repentance than did the old-world sinners.
Some in their desperation endeavored to break into the ark, but the firm-made structure withstood their efforts. Some clung to the ark until they were borne away by the surging waters, or their hold was broken by collision with rocks and trees. The massive ark trembled in every fiber as it was beaten by the merciless winds and flung from billow to billow. The cries of the beasts within expressed their fear and pain. But amid the warring elements it continued to ride safely. Angels that excel in strength were commissioned to preserve it.
The beasts, exposed to the tempest, rushed toward man, as though expecting help from him. Some of the people bound their children and themselves upon powerful animals, knowing that these were tenacious of life, and would climb to the highest points to escape the rising waters. Some fastened themselves to lofty trees on the summit of hills or mountains; but the trees were uprooted, and with their burden of living beings were hurled into the seething billows. One spot after another that promised safety was abandoned. As the waters rose higher and higher, the people fled for refuge to the loftiest mountains. Often man and beast would struggle together for a foothold, until both were swept away.
From the highest peaks men looked abroad upon a shoreless ocean. The solemn warnings of God’s servant no longer seemed a subject for ridicule and scorning. How those doomed sinners longed for the opportunities which they had slighted! How they pleaded for one hour’s probation, one more privilege of mercy, one call from the lips of Noah! But the sweet voice of mercy was no more to be heard by them. Love, no less than justice, demanded that God’s judgments should put a check on sin. The avenging waters swept over the last retreat, and the despisers of God perished in the black depths. -- E. G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets,Pacific Press Publishing Assn., Mountain View, CA., 1958, pp. 98-101.

Chief Exorcist Says 'Devil at Work' Inside Vatican
Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that "the Devil is at work inside the Vatican", according to the Holy See's chief exorcist.
Father Gabriele Amorth, 85, who has been the Vatican's chief exorcist for 25 years and says he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said that the consequences of satanic infiltration included power struggles at the Vatican as well as "cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon".
He added: "When one speaks of 'the smoke of Satan' [a phrase coined by Pope Paul VI in 1972] in the holy rooms, it is all true – including these latest stories of violence and pedophilia."
He claimed that another example of satanic behavior was the Vatican "cover-up" over the deaths in 1998 of Alois Estermann, the then commander of the Swiss Guard, his wife and Corporal Cedric Tornay, a Swiss Guard, who were all found shot dead. "They covered up everything immediately," he said. "Here one sees the rot".
A remarkably swift Vatican investigation concluded that Corporal Tornay had shot the commander and his wife and then turned his gun on himself after being passed over for a medal.

A millionaire insurance executive killed his two-year-old daughter after becoming obsessed with the horror film Bug, the Old Bailey has heard.
Alberto Izaga, 36, shouted “Die, die, die” and “I have to kill her” moments after repeatedly smashing his daughter Yanire’s head against a wooden floor in his £1 million flat overlooking the Houses of Parliament.
He was hallucinating and hearing voices and had become convinced his family were possessed by the devil.
Izaga believed he was “involved in the act of destroying a malign and Satanic entity” when he attacked his daughter, the court heard.
He also believed he was part of a sect based on the philosophies of the Jesuits which was recruiting executives like him and trying to take over the financial world.
The court heard that until his “psychotic” episode Izaga was a devoted and loving father.
He woke up on June 3 last year at 4.30am and began ranting about God and humanity not really existing and calling for the little girl to die.
His hysterical wife Ligia tried to stop him but the madness could not have been predicted, the court was told.
On a ten day holiday in America which ended on May 28, last year, the couple had gone to the cinema in New York and saw the film Bug in which a man and his girlfriend are driven mad by bugs under the skin.
On May 29, he went to Geneva for a conference where he also became affected by a motivational talk by an adventurer.
On June 2, he was back in London but complained he was exhausted and had not slept for 72 hours.
The attack happened the next morning and during his ranting he banged his fists against a pillow saying he couldn’t sleep.
Mrs Izaga heard him say: “I know what I have to do. I have to kill her.”
After help arrived, Yanire was taken to hospital but died two days later.
Izaga had been a brilliant student, athlete and businessman. He was at the height of career working as the top executive at insurance giant Swiss Re based in the “Gherkin” building in London.
Judge Richard Hone told the jury it was “an exceptional case” and that it would be asked to find Izaga not guilty of murder through insanity.
The court was told Izaga had been transferred to a medium secure mental hospital and two psychiatrists were agreed that he was insane at the time of the attack.
The facts of the case were not disputed and Izaga will be sent to a mental hospital under mental health legislation.
Izaga sat in court next to his barrister David Perry QC. He was dressed in suit and tie and wore glasses and was still wearing his wedding ring. His wife and parents were also at court.
Jonathan Rees, prosecuting, said: “If ever a case deserves to be described as truly tragic, this is surely it.
“How else can you describe a case in which a devoted father killed a child he loved in front of her mother.”
Mr Rees said the Spanish-born businessman was considered to be “clever and driven” at work where he was well liked.
At home, he played a full part in looking after his daughter and in family life.
“He was the last person capable of killing another human and least of all his own flesh and blood,” said Mr Rees.
“All agreed, he was totally devoted to her and that the defendant had described his daughter as the most precious person on earth.”
A neighbour said “he was one the nicest men” he had met and “absolutely loved Yanire”.
Mr Rees added: “At 8am on 3rd of June, he killed his daughter in a frenzy. He smashed her head against the floor.”
He said that even with hindsight, it was difficult to see how the attack could have been anticipated or that “he would lose control as he did”.
But doctors were agreed that at the time Izaga was suffering “from an episode of acute mental illness which had a rapid onset”.
Mr Rees said the night before the attack, Izaga had changed the child’s nappy and given her milk.
When she woke at 8am, he had gone to her cot and picked her up and brought her into the living room.
Mrs Izaga, also 36, picked up the injured child, still dressed in her nightgown, put her on a sofa and rang 999.
Part of the attack had been recorded on a neighbour’s voicemail after Mrs Izaga began ringing friends for help.
Her husband could be heard shouting in English and Spanish.
He said: “What about this, what about this? How am I going to sleep? I just want to sleep.”
He also said: “Bitch, this bastard does not die. God does not exist, the universe does not exist, humanity does not exist.”
When police and paramedics arrived half an hour later, Izaga began chanting “Big Ben, Big Ben” for five minutes.
Later, he began to lick the face of a neighbour who came to try and help him.

Cybersecurity bill to give president new emergency powers
The president would have the power to safeguard essential federal and private Web resources under draft Senate cybersecurity legislation.
According to an aide familiar with the proposal, the bill includes a mandate for federal agencies to prepare emergency response plans in the event of a massive, nationwide cyberattack.
The president would then have the ability to initiate those network contingency plans to ensure key federal or private services did not go offline during a cyberattack of unprecedented scope, the aide said.
Ultimately, the legislation is chiefly the brainchild of Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Commerce Committee, respectively. Both lawmakers have long clamored for a federal cybersecurity bill, charging that current measures — including the legislation passed by the House last year — are too piecemeal to protect the country's Web infrastructure.
Their renewed focus arrives on the heels of two, high-profile cyberattacks last month: A strike on Google, believed to have originated in China, and a separate, more disjointed attack that affected thousands of businesses worldwide.
Rockefeller and Snowe's forthcoming bill would establish a host of heretofore absent cybersecurity prevention and response measures, an aide close to the process said. The bill will "significantly [raise] the profile of cybersecurity within the federal government," while incentivizing private companies to do the same, according to the aide.
Additionally, it will "promote public awareness" of Internet security issues, while outlining key protections of Americans' civil liberties on the Web, the aide continued.
Privacy groups are nonetheless likely to take some umbrage at Rockefeller and Snowe's latest effort, an early draft of which leaked late last year.
When early reports predicted the cybersecurity measure would allow the president to "declare a cybersecurity emergency," online privacy groups said they felt that would endow the White House with overly ambiguous and far-reaching powers to regulate the Internet.
The bill will still contain most of those powers, and a "vast majority" of its other components "remain unchanged," an aide with knowledge of the legislation told The Hill. But both the aide and a handful of tech insiders who support the bill have nonetheless tried to dampen skeptics' concerns, reminding them the president already has vast — albeit lesser-known — powers to regulate the Internet during emergencies.
It is unclear when Rockefeller and Snowe will finish their legislation. And the ongoing debate over healthcare reform, financial regulatory reform, jobs bills and education fixes could postpone action on the floor for many months.
Both lawmakers heavily emphasized the need for such a bill during a Senate Commerce Committee cybersecurity hearing on Wednesday.
"Too much is at stake for us to pretend that today’s outdated cybersecurity policies are up to the task of protecting our nation and economic infrastructure," Rockefeller said. "We have to do better and that means it will take a level of coordination and sophistication to outmatch our adversaries and minimize this enormous threat."
The Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010
Via: The Atlantic:
Why is the national security community treating the “Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010,” introduced by Sens. John McCain and Joseph Lieberman on Thursday as a standard proposal, as a simple response to the administration’s choices in the aftermath of the Christmas Day bombing attempt? A close reading of the bill suggests it would allow the U.S. military to detain U.S. citizens without trial indefinitely in the U.S. based on suspected activity. Read the bill here, and then read the summarized points after the jump.
According to the summary, the bill sets out a comprehensive policy for the detention, interrogation and trial of suspected enemy belligerents who are believed to have engaged in hostilities against the United States by requiring these individuals to be held in military custody, interrogated for their intelligence value and not provided with a Miranda warning.
(There is no distinction between U.S. persons–visa holders or citizens–and non-U.S. persons.)
It would require these “belligerents” to be coded as “high-value detainee[s]” to be held in military custody and interrogated for their intelligence value by a High-Value Detainee Interrogation Team established by the president. (The H.I.G., of course, was established to bring a sophisticated interrogation capacity to the federal justice system.)
Any suspected unprivileged enemy belligerents considered a “high-value detainee” shall not be provided with a Miranda warning.
The bill asks the President to determine criteria for designating an individual as a “high-value detainee” if he/she: (1) poses a threat of an attack on civilians or civilian facilities within the U.S. or U.S. facilities abroad; (2) poses a threat to U.S. military personnel or U.S. military facilities; (3) potential intelligence value; (4) is a member of al Qaeda or a terrorist group affiliated with al Qaeda or (5) such other matters as the President considers appropriate. The President must submit the regulations and guidance to the appropriate committees of Congress no later than 60 days after enactment.
To the extent possible, the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Team must make a preliminary determination whether the detainee is an unprivileged enemy belligerent within 48 hours of taking detainee into custody.
The High-Value Detainee Interrogation Team must submit its determination to the Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General after consultation with the Director of National Intelligence, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General make a final determination and report the determination to the President and the appropriate committees of Congress. In the case of any disagreement between the Secretary of Defense and the Attorney General, the President will make the determination.
Note that the president himself doesn’t get to make the call.
ID Card for Workers Is at Center of Immigration Plan
Customs and Border Protection agent Jesus Gomez checks a passport at the vehicle crossing at the San Ysidro Port of Entry in California.
Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.
Under the potentially controversial plan still taking shape in the Senate, all legal U.S. workers, including citizens and immigrants, would be issued an ID card with embedded information, such as fingerprints, to tie the card to the worker.
The ID card plan is one of several steps advocates of an immigration overhaul are taking to address concerns that have defeated similar bills in the past.
The uphill effort to pass a bill is being led by Sens. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.), who plan to meet with President Barack Obama as soon as this week to update him on their work. An administration official said the White House had no position on the biometric card.
"It's the nub of solving the immigration dilemma politically speaking," Mr. Schumer said in an interview. The card, he said, would directly answer concerns that after legislation is signed, another wave of illegal immigrants would arrive. "If you say they can't get a job when they come here, you'll stop it."
The biggest objections to the biometric cards may come from privacy advocates, who fear they would become de facto national ID cards that enable the government to track citizens.
"It is fundamentally a massive invasion of people's privacy," said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union. "We're not only talking about fingerprinting every American, treating ordinary Americans like criminals in order to work. We're also talking about a card that would quickly spread from work to voting to travel to pretty much every aspect of American life that requires identification."
Mr. Graham says he respects those concerns but disagrees. "We've all got Social Security cards," he said. "They're just easily tampered with. Make them tamper-proof. That's all I'm saying."
U.S. employers now have the option of using an online system called E-Verify to check whether potential employees are in the U.S. legally. Many Republicans have pressed to make the system mandatory. But others, including Mr. Schumer, complain that the existing system is ineffective.
Last year, White House aides said they expected to push immigration legislation in 2010. But with health care and unemployment dominating his attention, the president has given little indication the issue is a priority.
Rather, Mr. Obama has said he wanted to see bipartisan support in Congress first. So far, Mr. Graham is the only Republican to voice interest publicly, and he wants at least one other GOP co-sponsor to launch the effort.
An immigration overhaul has long proven a complicated political task. The Latino community is pressing for action and will be angry if it is put off again. But many Americans oppose any measure that resembles amnesty for people who came here illegally.
Under the legislation envisioned by Messrs. Graham and Schumer, the estimated 10.8 million people living illegally in the U.S. would be offered a path to citizenship, though they would have to register, pay taxes, pay a fine and wait in line. A guest-worker program would let a set number of new foreigners come to the U.S. legally to work.
Most European countries require citizens and foreigners to carry ID cards. The U.K. had been a holdout, but in the early 2000s it considered national cards as a way to stop identify fraud, protect against terrorism and help stop illegal foreign workers. Amid worries about the cost and complaints that the cards infringe on personal privacy, the government said it would make them voluntary for British citizens. They are required for foreign workers and students, and so far about 130,000 cards have been issued.
Mr. Schumer first suggested a biometric-based employer-verification system last summer. Since then, the idea has gained currency and is now a centerpiece of the legislation being developed, aides said.
A person familiar with the legislative planning said the biometric data would likely be either fingerprints or a scan of the veins in the top of the hand. It would be required of all workers, including teenagers, but would be phased in, with current workers needing to obtain the card only when they next changed jobs, the person said.
The card requirement also would be phased in among employers, beginning with industries that typically rely on illegal-immigrant labor.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce doesn't have a position on the proposal, but it is concerned that employers would find it expensive and complicated to properly check the biometrics.
Mr. Schumer said employers would be able to buy a scanner to check the IDs for as much as $800. Small employers, he said, could take their applicants to a government office to like the Department of Motor Vehicles and have their hands scanned there.

New Missile Defense Agency logo more than meets the eye?
February 25, 2010
NewsWithViews.com
A new logo for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) is strikingly similar to the one Obama used during his 2008 campaign. Designed by TMP Government, the new emblem bears an Islamic crest amidst the same color scheme and three red stripes that defined the official Obama campaign logo during his run for the presidency.
Given MDA's mission within the Department of Defense to "develop, test, and field an integrated, layered, ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends against all ranges of enemy ballistic missiles in all phases of flight," the new logo looks and feels oddly out of place. The old logo (below left) clearly represented the defensive responsibility the MDA holds in protecting the United States and its interests from airborne threats, while the new logo appears to reflect ambiguous metaphysical ideas, employing the same color scheme -- blue, white, and three red stripes -- of Obama's campaign logo, plus a stylized earth as an Islamic crest.
Worse, the symbols and numerological values on the new seal mirror Islamic and Christian beliefs about the final world leader -- the Antichrist -- say prophecy experts. This new logo may even cleverly perpetuate Obama as a type of, if not the, Antichrist.
If a logo was designed representing Islamic and Christian eschatology concerning the final world leader, it could look very much like the new MDA seal. Its has 7 rays that stand alone. The 8th joins a red swath, which itself is divided into 3 red stripes. These 8 plus the 3 red focal points equal 11. Prophecy scholars will immediately recognize the value of this specific symbolism and numerology -- the numbers 3, 7, 8, and 11 -- as connected to the coming of Antichrist. When the Islamic crescent is added to this mix of symbolism within the context of what is believed about Obama's true origin of birth and religion, it is quite disturbing.
But should symbols and parts of a logo be interpreted in this way?
Absolutely. Notwithstanding the MDA is denying any connection to the Obama campaign logo, corporations and agencies develop logos to convey meaning and the Obama logo may be the most well-known in recent history. This is Semiotics, also called semiotic studies or semiology, in which signs, symbols, and logos are meant to communicate something about the parent organization, its purpose and mission. Sometimes it is also intended to have a subliminal effect upon those that look upon it, to influence them in ways they may not even understand.
According to famous Freemason, Foster Bailey, symbols intentionally hide "a secret…which veils mysterious forces. These energies when released can have a potent effect."
Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle once famously added: "By symbols, accordingly, is man guided and commanded, made happy, made wretched."
Sidney Webb, founder of the Fabian Society described this process as having the ability to play "those millions of minds, to watch them slowly respond to an unseen stimulas, to guide their aspirations without their knowledge—all this whether in high capacities or in humble—is a big and endless game of chess, of ever extraordinary excitement."
Well-known prophecy expert Steve Quayle sees a hidden message in the new MDA logo as well: "One cannot get away from the fact that the twelfth Imam is heralded in Islamic apocalyptic writings as the coming messiah. I believe Obama sees himself as this Imam Mahdi. The monkey god Hanuman, the talisman that Obama carries in his pocket, is portrayed in the Indian epic 'Ramayana' as an intermediary between two worlds, the celestial and the divine. This new logo at MDA embellishes the crescent and star symbol of the coming 'GREAT WAR' between heaven and earth, between angels and demons, between this devil and his legions and Almighty God."
The numerological significance of the new MDA logo envisions this prophecy. The numbers 3 and 7 hold special places in biblical end times events and are directly related to deity, while the number 8 represents resurrection, and 11 represents evil incarnate, disorder, and judgment. When referring to the beast with ten horns (Roman Empire), the prophet Daniel, as he was considering these horns, said, "there came up among them another little horn" (Daniel 7:8). According to scholars, this 11th horn is the Antichrist, who will derive power from a revived Roman Empire and New World Order. In Jewish mysticism and numerology, the number 11 is thus considered the essence of all that is sinful, harmful, and imperfect. Any biblical scholar of numerology and symbolism would agree therefore that, if interpreted based on their fixed numerological, historical, and prophetic meaning, this logo if interpreted based on its occult significance literally means: evil incarnate (11) will be resurrected (8) as deity (3 and 7) and hold Islam in esteem.
David Hitt, an intellectual property attorney and former 32nd degree Freemason with an interest in occult symbolism observes that the three red stripes in the logo come to an end at the crescent, at which point the eighth ray, which is small relative to the other rays, emerges in their place. This is in line with Daniel's specific prophecy that three horns of an original 10 horns are cut off in favor of a small, eighth horn. Additionally, the glaring light from which the rays on this new logo emanate depict a sun rising, perhaps to signify the dawning of a new, occult age.
On pages 106-107 of Apollyon Rising 2012 important additional information says:
A Hadith (tradition) sacred to Shiite Islam from the seventeenth century contains a prophecy from Ali ibn Abi-Talib, which predicts that just before the return of the Mahdi (the end-times redeemer of Islam), a "tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West." This leader will command "the strongest army on earth" and will bear "a clear sign" from the third imam, Hussein. The prophecy concludes that: "Shiites should have no doubt that he is with us."
Does this Islamic prophecy identify Obama as the "promised warrior" who comes to help the savior of Shiite Muslims conquer the world? Amir Taheri asked this very question for Forbes Magazine in October 2008, pointing out how "Obama’s first and second names—Barack Hussein—mean ‘the blessing of Hussein’ in Arabic and Persian" while his "family name, Obama, written in the Persian alphabet, reads O Ba Ma, meaning ‘he is with us,’ the magic formula in Majlisi’s tradition."
Many have pointed out how reporters, politicians, celebrities, and even preachers celebrated the "spiritual nature" of Obama’s meteoric rise from near obscurity to U.S. president, and how this may have reflected people’s strong desire for the coming of an earthly savoir.
San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford characterized Obama as "a sort of powerful luminosity." In Morford’s opinion, this was because Obama is "a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to…help usher in a new way of being on the planet."
The dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, Lawrence Carter, went further, comparing Obama to the coming of Jesus Christ: "It is powerful and significant on a spiritual level that there is the emergence of Barack Obama.… No one saw him coming, and Christians believe God comes at us from strange angles and places we don’t expect, like Jesus being born in a manger."
Dinesh Sharma, a marketing science consultant with a PhD in psychology from Harvard, appraised Obama likewise: "Many…see in Obama a messiah-like figure, a great soul, and some affectionately call him Mahatma Obama."

The followup to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 masterpiece. Director Peter Hyams went with a more a conventional story with this one. I still feel it's an entertaining movie though despite the shortcomings. Starred the late Roy Scheider, John Lithgow, Bob Balaban, & Helen Mirren.

State joins International women's Day observance
Imphal, March 08, 2010: As in other part of the globe, International Women's Day was observed in different parts of the State today.
Under the aegis of Women Committee of United NGO Mission, Manipur, the observance was held along with a public rally in and around Kakching Khunou Bazar.
It was followed by a public meeting at Popular Cinema hall, Kakching Khunou.
At the occasion, various recommendations were adopted.
These include ensuring equal rights and equal opportunities to both men and women by the Government; declaration of March 8, International Women's Day as Restricted Holiday, formulation of a Gender Policy in Manipur and implementation of Gender Budgeting, implementation of Convention of eliminating all forms of discrimination against women, etc.
The public meeting was attended by president of Jamiatul Ulama, Manipur Maulana Syed Ahmed as chief guest and secretary of Rongmei Loubum Panti Gonmei as functional president.
Veteran athlete Salam Ongbi Padmo and co-ordinator of Child Line, Imphal Mala Lisam were also present at the occasion as special guests.
Among those who spoke at meeting, secretary of Tangkhul Baptist Churches K Shimray pointed out that equal rights and equal opportunity between man and woman is still a distant dream more specially for the womenfolk in the hill districts of Manipur.
Unlike their counterparts in the valley districts where there is 33 percent reservation of seats for women in Panchayat and Municipality, womenfolk in the hill districts have not been able to take part in the decision making process even at the village level.
Programme Executive of All India Radio, Imphal Bijaya Yumlembam noted that although International Women's Day is being observed for 100 years now, women are yet to enjoy equal rights and opportunities like their male counterparts.
Pointing out that there is discrimination against daughters by their own mothers even, she called for stopping such discrimination.
Human Rights Initiative (HRI) observed International Women's Day at its office building today along organising a group discussion on the topic of 'Challenges of women human rights defenders in Manipur and measures to overcome them'.
Moderated by Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, president of United Committee Manipur, the discussion was attended by about 30 human rights defenders including Meira Paibis, advocates, journalists, social workers and other rights defenders of Manipur.
Executive director of HRI Lc Jinine delivered the key note address.
Along with discovering various limitations and challenges of non-cooperation from the majority of the people due to lack of social and political consciousness, disunity among the human rights defenders, etc, the discussion acknowledged the spirit and invaluable activities of women human rights defenders of Manipur including the living icon, Irom Chanu Sharmila's struggle.
However, the necessity of imparting human rights education and other update development including the technical know how and importance of absorption of other educated women in the present efforts of the women rights defenders were also realised.
Accordingly, the discussion concluded on the positive note of organising a special training of the rights defenders very soon.
All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) observed International Women's Day at Ema Khunthokhanbi Sanglen today.
Giving keynote address, AMAWOVA finance secretary H Manbi said that the day is observed to pay tribute to those women who fought against torture, corruption, killings and criminalisation.
In USA, she said, industrial revolution came into existence after the abolish of feudalism.
But the Government failed to give equal opportunities of work to all its citizens.
This ultimately hurt the sentiments of American women and subsequently set up labour union, she said.
Manbi added that women daily wage earners agitated against textile mill owners in USA in 1857. Speaking as chief guest in the function, Irabot Foundation president Th Iboyaima exhorted all women to be brave like past imas (mothers) and stand against corruption, killings and criminalisation.
Women Society of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Tarung also observed International Women's Day on March 6. The women society leaders offered special prayers for the well-being of women of the world and Manipur in the programme.
International Women's Day was also reportedly observed at the conference hall of Moreh Trade Centre under the joint aegis of Centre for Development Activities, Wangjing and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandel.
Additional SP of Moreh Y Ashokumar Singh and SDC Moreh Ph Ibohal Singh were chief guest and functional president of the function which was also attended by DYC Nehru Yuva Kendra, Chandel W Ibohal Singh, vice president of Meetei Council, Moreh N Pulindro and president of Kha-Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup W Keinahal as guests of honour.

His rest shall be glorious
King James Bible
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.
14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.
15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.
16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

Dutch church orders inquiry into sex abuse allegations
The Catholic Church is facing a new scandal in the Netherlands
Dutch religious leaders have ordered an independent inquiry into alleged sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests.
Earlier, the Vatican defended its response to child sex abuse allegations in a number of European states, saying it had reacted rapidly and decisively.
In the latest revelations, the head of an Austrian monastery confessed to abusing a boy more than 40 years ago.
Separately, Pope Benedict's brother said in an interview he slapped pupils in the face at a German choir school.
The Dutch investigation will be opened "as soon as possible", it was announced after Dutch bishops met to discuss abuse claims by about 200 alleged victims, some from several decades ago.
Monastery resignation
The Dutch Catholic Church offered its apologies to the victims: "To the victims of abuse in Catholic boarding schools, the religious leaders and bishops offer their deep-felt condolences and apologies," a statement said.
Allegations first centred on a school in the eastern Netherlands, with people saying they were abused by Catholic priests. This prompted dozens more alleged victims from other institutions to come forward in recent days.
It also emerged on Tuesday that the head of a Salzburg monastery, Bruno Becker, had offered his resignation on Monday after confessing to having abused a boy 40 years ago, when he was a monk.
Church authorities accepted his resignation immediately.
The German, Austrian, Irish and US churches have all been damaged by sexual abuse scandals, and suggestions that senior clergy covered up what was happening.
No 'culture of silence'
Earlier on Tuesday, a Vatican spokesman said in a statement the sexual abuse scandals were especially deplorable given the educational and moral responsibilities of the Catholic Church, but that the institutions in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands had shown that it wanted to be transparent.
"They have demonstrated their desire for transparency and, in a certain sense, accelerated the emergence of the problem by inviting victims to speak out, even when the cases involved date from many years ago," said Father Federico Lombardi.
"By doing so, they have approached the matter 'on the right foot', because the correct starting point is recognition of what happened and concern for the victims and the consequences of the acts committed against them."
He denied the Vatican had tried to erect a "wall of silence" around the scandals surfacing in many countries.
On Monday, the German justice minister said Vatican secrecy rules were complicating investigations of the cases.
Allegations of sexual abuse are being investigated in 18 of Germany's 27 Roman Catholic dioceses, where former students from a number of Catholic schools have alleged sexual abuse by teachers.
The worldwide media publicity given to the scandals has proved disconcerting to the Vatican, says the BBC's David Willey in Rome.
Papal link
It is doing its best to limit the moral damage caused to the church by stressing that paedophilia is a problem not limited to Catholic institutions and teachers, but which must be tackled in a broader context within civil society, our correspondent adds.
The Pope's own elder brother, Father Georg Ratzinger, admitted he slapped pupils in the face at the German school where he led the choir, but never beat them to an abusive extent.
"Pupils told me on concert trips about what went on. But it didn't dawn on me from their stories that I should do something. I was not aware of the extent of these brutal methods," he told the Passauer Neue Presse.
"At the start, I also slapped people in the face, but I always had a bad conscience," he said, adding he was relieved when corporal punishment was banned in 1980.
He denies any knowledge of sex abuse cases involving members of his choir.
Last week, the Regensburg Diocese said a former singer in a church choir that was run by Father Ratzinger from 1964-1993, had alleged there was abuse there in the early 1960s.
Thailand invokes emergency laws before rally
The red shirts are demanding that fresh elections are held
The Thai government has announced that it will invoke the Internal Security Act from 11-23 March, in Bangkok and seven surrounding provinces.
The move comes ahead of a planned march by "red shirt" opposition protesters.
They are mainly supporters of the former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a military coup in 2006.
They say they plan to rally until the current coalition government calls new elections.
The ISA puts the military in charge, with powers to impose curfews, restrict numbers at gatherings and man check points if they deem such measures necessary.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has cancelled a planned trip to Australia.
Fears and loathing
The last time the act was invoked was during the meeting of the regional grouping Asean held in Thailand last October - after an earlier attempt to host Asean in April was derailed by red shirt protests.
The police had failed to act against them as they took over the conference centre and the army asserted control to keep Mr Abhisit's government in power.
This time, the red shirt movement, led by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), has promised a huge but peaceful demonstration.
Thaksin is living outside Thailand, but is still the focus of the protests
Smaller rallies, meetings and "political schools" are being held in various provinces before convoys of vehicles are expected to carry protesters to the capital by the weekend.
Thailand's Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij has said the government would be "as patient as all governments need be".
"There is a very small minority who is trying to cause instability through, frankly speaking, potentially violent acts," he said.
The government also fully intended to "use all means within its powers, within the laws of the country, to make sure that the property and safety of its citizens are protected".
He admitted that political reconciliation in the country remained a distant dream.
"In fact, the situation in the next few years might indicate that in fact political differences have actually widened over the past year," Mr Korn said.
Last month the Supreme Court ruled that just over half of the assets belonging to Mr Thaksin or his family which were frozen since the coup, should be seized.

Aer Lingus job cuts to total 670
The Irish Airline says it plans to save 97m euros (£88m) as a result of the cuts.
The airline's cabin crew face 230 compulsory redundancies after their union rejected restructuring plans.
Other staff, whose unions agreed with the cuts, will see 440 voluntary job losses.
Earlier, Aer Lingus reported losses of 66.2m euros (£60m, $88m) for 2009.
The losses came despite a rise in passenger numbers to 10.4 million.
The figures were released in a short trading update one day after the company said it would have to delay its complete full-year results.
The airline said that the agreement of the majority of unions meant that harsher cost-cutting measures, involving the loss of more than 1,000 jobs, could be avoided.
The move comes at a difficult time for airlines, with many looking to make cuts in the face of falling passenger numbers.
British Airways still faces the threat of strike action over cuts it plans to make to cabin crew numbers, while German flag carrier Lufthansa is in talks with its pilots.

A Lamp in the Dark: The Untold History of the Bible
by Adullam Films
A Lamp in the Dark is an exciting new documentary that unfolds the
fascinating and “untold” history of the Bible, revealing critical information
often withheld or overlooked in modern histories. Enter into a world of saints
and martyrs battling against spies, assassins and wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Throughout the Middle Ages, the Papal Inquisition forbade biblical translation,
threatening imprisonment and death to those who disobeyed. Learn the stories of
valiant warriors of the faith, such as John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, Martin
Luther, the ancient Waldenses, Albigenses and others who hazarded their lives
for the sake of sharing the light of the Gospel to a world drowning in darkness.
Once the people were able to read the Bible and had the Word of God in their
hands, the world was turned upside down through the Protestant Reformation.
In response, Rome would launch a Counter Reformation to destroy the impact of
the Reformers, including the bibles they produced.
The Counter Reformation
We sincerely believe that Rome’s Counter Reformation is one of the most important
subjects to be studied by Christians today. As we show in the film, the pope
commissioned the Jesuit Order to lead the movement, and it has never ceased to
function. Learn the influence of the Jesuits during the translation of the King
James Bible, during the Civil War, in Nazi Germany; and especially how they have
been exposed in modern times.
Ignorance of the Counter Reform has enabled Rome to deceive millions through the
Ecumenical Movement, the World Council of Churches, the Emerging Church movement,
the current Interfaith Council with Tony Blair and Rick Warren, and the overall
seduction of Biblical Christianity. Some researchers even believe the Counter
Reformation is the real secret behind the European Union and the New World Order.
Throughout the film, we show how the struggles of the past continue to impact
current events, and are a guiding influence in the march toward globalization.
The Bible: Enemy Number One
Not surprisingly, at the heart of all this conflict is the Holy Bible. The Word
of God was the weapon of choice for the Reformers, who subdued whole kingdoms by
preaching the Gospel and exposing the idolatry of Rome. As a result, the
scriptures became a key focus for the Jesuits in their attempts to conquer the
world for the Pope, and bring mankind back into the Dark Ages.
But do the deceptions of Rome continue today? And how does this impact the Bible?
What to Expect
“Lamp” was filmed on locations in England and Belgium, and features never before
seen interviews with leading Bible scholars, including David Brown, Roger Oakland,
Alan O’Reilly, D.A. Waite and others. Also included are chief curators from the
British Library in London, Erasmus House in Belgium, and the William Tyndale
Museum in Vilvoorde, where Tyndale himself was burnt at the stake.
This ground breaking documentary is also filled with rich visual graphics and
dramatic re-enactments of key historic events.
Included in this 3 hour DVD:
1) The history of the early Church, with the warnings from Jesus and the
Apostles about “grievous wolves” and apostasy.
2) The alleged “conversion” of Constantine the Great and development of
the Roman Church.
3) How the Inquisition began for the purpose of silencing Christians
and outlawing the Bible.
4) The Bible translations of John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, the Great
Bible, the Geneva Bible, and finally the King James Version.
5) The Protestant Reformation and the reasons behind it.
6) Key doctrines confronted by the Reformers (i.e. inspiration of
scripture, salvation, transubstantiation, veneration of Mary, and
papal claims of authority).
7) Rome’s Counter Reformation with the founding of the Jesuit
Order in 1540. Included is the history of the Council of Trent,
the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, and the dreadful Jesuit oath.
8) The Jesuit plot of 1825 to “sieze” control of the Bible.
9) The Vatican’s involvement with the Critical Text used by
seminaries in the 20th century.
10) Rome’s fully documented (and largely unknown) influence
over modern biblical translations.
A Witnessing Tool
A Lamp in the Dark is also a great witnessing tool for salvation,
since it begins with the witness of the Gospel in the first century,
and then throughout the history of the Bible, unfolds some of the key
doctrines taught by the Reformers, such as repentance from sin and
justification by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.

FILM REVIEW by Dr. Mike Bennett
"A Lamp in The Dark" should bring tears to the eyes of every Christian who treasures their Bible -- printed by the blood and sacrifices of our brave Christian forefathers, as evidenced in this moving production... Pinto's work is a certain cure for Christian apathy and idleness, when the battle for truth is made so clear in this work. People will never look at the Bible the same way again and will now take notice of the battle over God's Word that now rages around us." - J. The Road to Armageddon: The Insane Drive for American Hegemony Threatens Life on Earth
Global Research, February 26, 2010
I was even more surprised that the news report treated the press conference seriously.
How did three World Trade Center skyscrapers suddenly disintegrate into fine dust? How did massive steel beams in three skyscrapers suddenly fail as a result of short-lived, isolated, and low temperature fires? “A thousand architects and engineers want to know, and are calling on Congress to order a new investigation into the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7,” reports the Washington Times.
The paper reports that the architects and engineers have concluded that the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Institute of Standards and Technology provided “insufficient, contradictory and fraudulent accounts of the circumstances of the towers’ destruction” and are “calling for a grand jury investigation of NIST officials.”
The newspaper reports that Richard Gage, the spokesperson for the architects and engineers said: “Government officials will be notified that ‘Misprision of Treason,’ U.S. Code 18 (Sec. 2382) is a serious federal offense, which requires those with evidence of treason to act. The implications are enormous and may have profound impact on the forthcoming Khalid Sheik Mohammed trial.”
There is now an organization, Firefighters for 9/11 Truth. At the main press conference in San Francisco, Eric Lawyer, the head of that organization, announced the firefighters’ support for the architects and engineers’ demands. He reported that no forensic investigation was made of the fires that are alleged to have destroyed the three buildings and that this failure constitutes a crime.
Mandated procedures were not followed, and instead of being preserved and investigated, the crime scene was destroyed. He also reported that there are more than one hundred first responders who heard and experienced explosions and that there is radio, audio and video evidence of explosions.
Also at the press conference, physicist Steven Jones presented the evidence of nano-thermite in the residue of the WTC buildings found by an international panel of scientists led by University of Copenhagen nano-chemist Professor Niels Harrit. Nano-thermite is a high-tech explosive/pyrotechnic capable of instantly melting steel girders.
Before we yell “conspiracy theory,” we should be aware that the architects, engineers, firefighters, and scientists offer no theory. They provide evidence that challenges the official theory. This evidence is not going to go away.
If expressing doubts or reservations about the official story in the 9/11 Commission Report makes a person a conspiracy theory kook, then we have to include both co-chairmen of the 9/11 Commission and the Commission’s legal counsel, all of whom have written books in which they clearly state that they were lied to by government officials when they conducted their investigation, or, rather, when they presided over the investigation conducted by executive director Philip Zelikow, a member of President George W. Bush’s transition team and Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board and a co-author of Bush Secretary of State Condi “Mushroom Cloud” Rice.
There will always be Americans who will believe whatever the government tells them no matter how many times they know the government has lied to them. Despite expensive wars that threaten Social Security and Medicare, wars based on non-existent Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, non-existent Saddam Hussein connections to al Qaida, non-existent Afghan participation in the 9/11 attacks, and the non-existent Iranian nukes that are being hyped as the reason for the next American war of aggression in the Middle East, more than half of the U.S. population still believes the fantastic story that the government has told them about 9/11, a Muslim conspiracy that outwitted the entire Western world.
Moreover, it doesn’t matter to these Americans how often the government changes its story. For example, Americans first heard of Osama bin Laden because the Bush regime pinned the 9/11 attacks on him. Over the years video after video was served up to the gullible American public of bin Laden’s pronouncements. Experts dismissed the videos as fakes, but Americans remained their gullible selves. Then suddenly last year a new 9/11 “mastermind” emerged to take bin Laden’s place, the captive Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the detainee waterboarded 183 times until he confessed to mastermining the 9/11 attack.
In the Middle Ages confessions extracted by torture constituted evidence, but self-incrimination has been a no-no in the U.S. legal system since our founding. But with the Bush regime and the Republican federal judges, whom we were assured would defend the U.S. Constitution, the self-incrimination of Sheik Mohammed stands today as the only evidence the U.S. government has that Muslim terrorists pulled off 9/11.
If a person considers the feats attributed to Khalid Sheik Mohammed, they are simply unbelievable. Sheik Mohammed is a more brilliant, capable superhero than V in the fantasy movie, “V for Vendetta.” Sheik Mohammed outwitted all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies along with those of all U.S. allies or puppets, including Israel’s Mossad. No intelligence service on earth or all of them combined was a match for Sheik Mohammed.
Sheik Mohammed outwitted the U.S. National Security Council, Dick Cheney, the Pentagon, the State Department, NORAD, the U.S. Air Force, and Air Traffic Control.
He caused Airport Security to fail four times in one morning. He caused the state-of-the-art air defenses of the Pentagon to fail, allowing a hijacked airliner, which was off course all morning while the U.S. Air Force, for the first time in history, was unable to get aloft intercepter aircraft, to crash into the Pentagon.
Sheik Mohammed was able to perform these feats with unqualified pilots.
Sheik Mohammed, even as a waterboarded detainee, has managed to prevent the FBI from releasing the many confiscated videos that would show, according to the official story, the hijacked airliner hitting the Penagon.
How naive do you have to be to believe that any human, or for that matter Hollywood fantasy character, is this powerful and capable?
If Sheik Mohammed has these superhuman capabilities, how did the incompetent Americans catch him? This guy is a patsy tortured into confession in order to keep the American naifs believing the government’s conspiracy theory.
What is going on here is that the U.S. government has to bring the 9/11 mystery to an end. The government must put on trial and convict a culprit so that it can close the case before it explodes. Anyone waterboarded 183 times would confess to anything.
The U.S. government has responded to the evidence being arrayed against its outlandish 9/11 conspiracy theory by redefining the war on terror from external to internal enemies. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on February 21 that American extremists are now as big a concern as international terrorists. Extremists, of course, are people who get in the way of the government’s agenda, such as the 1,000 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. The group used to be 100, now it is 1,000. What if it becomes 10,000?
Cass Sunstein, an Obama regime official, has a solution for the 9/11 skeptics: Infiltrate them and provoke them into statements and actions that can be used to discredit or to arrest them. But get rid of them at all cost.
Why employ such extreme measures against alleged kooks if they only provide entertainment and laughs? Is the government worried that they are on to something?
Instead, why doesn’t the U.S. government simply confront the evidence that is presented and answer it?
If the architects, engineers, firefighters, and scientists are merely kooks, it would be a simple matter to acknowledge their evidence and refute it. Why is it necessary to infiltrate them with police agents and to set them up?
Many Americans would reply that “their” government would never even dream of killing Americans by hijacking airliners and destroying buildings in order to advance a government agenda. But on February 3, National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair told the House Intelligence Committee that the U.S. government can assassinate its own citizens when they are overseas. No arrest, trial, or conviction of a capital crime is necessary. Just straight out murder.
Obviously, if the U.S. government can murder its citizens abroad it can murder them at home, and has done so. For example, 100 Branch Davidians were murdered in Waco, Texas, by the Clinton administration for no legitimate reason. The government just decided to use its power knowing that it could get away with it, which it did.
Americans who think “their” government is some kind of morally pure operation would do well to familiarize themselves with Operation Northwoods. Operation Northwoods was a plot drawn up by the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff for the CIA to commit acts of terrorism in American cities and fabricate evidence blaming Castro so that the U.S. could gain domestic and international support for regime change in Cuba. The secret plan was nixed by President John F. Kennedy and was declassified by the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board. It is available online in the National Security Archive. There are numerous online accounts available, including Wikipedia. James Bamford’s book, Body of Secrets, also summarizes the plot:
“Operation Northwoods, which had the written approval of the Chairman [Gen. Lemnitzer] and every member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called for innocent people to be shot on American streets; for boats carrying refugees fleeing Cuba to be sunk on the high seas; for a wave of violent terrorism to be launched in Washington, D.C., Miami, and elsewhere. People would be framed for bombings they did not commit; planes would be hijacked. Using phony evidence, all of it would be blamed on Castro, thus giving Lemnitzer and his cabal the excuse, as well as the public and international backing, they needed to launch their war.”
Prior to 9/11 the American neoconservatives were explicit that the wars of aggression that they intended to launch in the Middle East required “a new Pearl Harbor.”
For their own good and that of the wider world, Americans need to pay attention to the growing body of experts who are telling them that the government’s account of 9/11 fails their investigation. 9/11 launched the neoconservative plan for U.S. world hegemony. As I write the U.S. government is purchasing the agreement of foreign governments that border Russia to accept U.S. missile interceptor bases. The U.S. intends to ring Russia with U.S. missile bases from Poland through central Europe and Kosovo to Georgia, Azerbaijan and central Asia. [see http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103078349072&s=5637&e=001TnjaHnNYFmL8pyeERYW74qAdnOP6-GxrBP2LldZPXgXBX63xhPrPDEmS7_3EHDq6A9DAJAYbc93L9w5K6EqLZC3CnozoAgTs_cMvXkVguAjtARRmMlyk9qJBP2Bef2qYvFVeVA6qxXpWG4Dtwp66cyTQENkwTEjo56V9g1TPPI4= ]
The U.S. has already encircled Iran with military bases. The U.S. government intends to neutralize China by seizing control over the Middle East and cutting China off from oil.
This plan assumes that Russia and China, nuclear armed states, will be intimidated by U.S. anti-missile defenses and acquiesce to U.S. hegemony and that China will lack oil for its industries and military.
The U.S. government is delusional. Russian military and political leaders have responded to the obvious threat by declaring NATO a direct threat to the security of Russia and by announcing a change in Russian war doctrine to the pre-emptive launch of nuclear weapons. The Chinese are too confident to be bullied by a washed up American “superpower.”
The morons in Washington are pushing the envelop of nuclear war. The insane drive for American hegemony threatens life on earth. The American people, by accepting the lies and deceptions of “their” government, are facilitating this outcome.
