Alternative Health & Healing: Len Horowitz

Alternative Health & Healing
Date: 10-19-10
Host: George Noory

Guests: Dr. Leonard Horowitz, Fiona Horne

Authority on public health and consumer protection, Dr. Len Horowitz touched on a variety of topics including the dangers of vaccines, methods of natural healing, and how a spiritual renaissance is changing medicine. He also discussed the "Illuminati" agenda to reduce the world population, and the Denver Airport murals, which he said symbolically depict the New World Order agenda.

Hororwitz suggested that 528 hertz is a healing frequency that can help people relax and breathe better. "In musicology, it's actually called ecstatic listening...and all of nature is celebrating that frequency of 528 hertz...It is the heart of the universe," he commented.

Regarding natural remedies, he advocated a five-step process to combat disease: detoxification, alkalinization, boosting the immune system, oxygenation, and bio-energizing. The last step can be accomplished through prayer, sound, color, frequency, resonance, or music-- "this creates an energy of spirituality that is impregnable...against infectious diseases," he stated. He also recommended OxySilver for eliminating infections, and hydrosonics-- water resonating at a certain frequency, for healing.

Arizona Sheriff claims Mexican assassins ‘national security threat’

October 18th, 2010 7:07 pm ET.Do you like this story?

Several law enforcement agencies in Arizona were notified by Homeland Security about the ominous plans of the Mexican Drug cartel. Assassins, also referred to as "sicarios”, are planning to attack anyone who interferes with their drug runs into the US. Sheriff Paul Babeu says that it’s a very serious problem because innocent bystanders have been attacked, kidnapped, killed, and the houses of citizens have been robbed. He referred to its severity as one that is a “national security threat.” While the video to the left also indicates that the notification was “leaked” from Homeland Security, a http://www.washingtontimes.com/ article on Sunday says that the Vekol Valley precincts were “warned”.

This particular area in Arizona is considered a “well-established and widely travelled drug-smuggling corridor running north and south across Interstate 8 between the Arizona towns of Casa Grande and Gila Bend. The valley is a direct link to both the interstate and to Phoenix, giving drug smugglers the option of shipping their goods to California or to major cities both north and east.” In addition, there are 15 assassins who are considered “very well-equipped and armed”. The Sheriff has told the Washington Times that, “Mexican drug cartels have posted scouts on the high points around the valley to control movement in the area. He said they have radios, optics and ‘night-vision goggles as good as anything law enforcement has.’"

The Sheriff has requested the assistance of 3000 National Guards soldiers, but Washington’s ludicrous response was to send 15 signs to post along Interstate 8 that warn American citizens and travelers that the area is an "active drug- and human-smuggling area" and that they might be attacked and injured by "armed criminals and smuggling vehicles traveling at high rates of speed." And people wonder why Arizona passed an immigration law.

The irony of all this is that back in June, when news was breaking about 18 other states who were planning to introduce a law similar to Arizona’s, which then started the nonsense of the feds suing Arizona, Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano was insisting that the boarder was secure. Her exact words, according to a www.cnsnews.com article were, “The plain fact of the matter is the border is as secure now as it has ever been.”

The immigration issue, the economy, joblessness and Obamacare are the main issues that have most Democrats nervous about Election Day. In fact, a http://www.nytimes.com/ article in July stated that Democrat governors were voicing “deep anxiety about the Obama administration’s suit against Arizona’s new immigration law, worrying that it could cost a vulnerable Democratic Party in the fall elections.” Democrats have been afraid of losing their majority even as far back as December, and the polls are now showing that 2010 has the potential to be a landslide loss that wipes out their majority.

According to a http://www.rasmussenreports.com/ article on Monday, “The economy continues to be the most important issue on voters’ minds this election, and 49% place their trust in Republicans to handle this issue. Thirty-nine percent (39%) trust Democrats more.” The other issues in which Rasmussen Reports a majority of voters trust Republicans over Democrats include: immigration; national security; healthcare; lower taxes; and the war in Iraq. In addition, “Republicans now hold a nine-point lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot.”

A http://www.ft.com/ article on Monday stated that president of the Chicago Fed Charles Evans has described the US economy as “being in a bona fide liquidity trap.” To make matters even more interesting, a Monday http://www.breitbart.com/ article noted that sometime this week, “a key Group of 20 (would be) meeting in South Korea where currency reform is expected to dominate talks, amid fears that nations could adopt trade barriers in the face of competition from Asian exports” (emphasis added). It was pointed out by IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn that “The spirit of cooperation must be maintained. Without that, the (global economic) recovery is in peril.” Those who have an interest in Bible prophecy will recognize that currency reform is the precursor to a One World monetary system.

Top-Ranked Applications Transmit Personal IDs, a Journal Investigation Finds.

Kim White Bloomberg

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg addressed the F8 developer conference this spring.
Many of the most popular applications, or "apps," on the social-networking site Facebook Inc. have been transmitting identifying information—in effect, providing access to people's names and, in some cases, their friends' names—to dozens of advertising and Internet tracking companies, a Wall Street Journal investigation has found.

The issue affects tens of millions of Facebook app users, including people who set their profiles to Facebook's strictest privacy settings. The practice breaks Facebook's rules, and renews questions about its ability to keep identifiable information about its users' activities secure.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light,..

Isaiah 5

1Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

2And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

3And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

4What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

5And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

6And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

7For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

8Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!

9In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

10Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

11Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

12And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

13Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

14Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

15And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

16But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

17Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

18Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:

19That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

20Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

22Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

23Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

24Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

25Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

26And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:

27None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:

28Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:

29Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.

30And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

Megachurch Birthplace of 'Hour of Power' Files for Bankruptcy in California

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. -- Crystal Cathedral, the megachurch birthplace of the televangelist show "Hour of Power," filed for bankruptcy Monday in Southern California after struggling to emerge from debt that exceeds $43 million.

In addition to a $36 million mortgage, the Orange County-based church owes $7.5 million to several hundred vendors for services ranging from advertising to the use of live animals in Easter and Christmas services.

The church had been negotiating a repayment plan with vendors, but several filed lawsuits seeking quicker payment, which prompted a coalition formed by creditors to fall apart, church officials said.

"Tough times never last, every storm comes to an end. Right now, people need to hear that message more than ever," Sheila Schuller Coleman, the Cathedral's senior pastor and daughter of the founder, told reporters outside the worship hall.

"Everybody is hurting today. We are no exception," she said.

The church, founded in the mid-1950s by the Rev. Robert H. Schuller Sr., has already ordered major layoffs, cut the number of stations airing the "Hour of Power" and sold property to stay afloat. In addition, the 10,000-member church canceled this year's "Glory of Easter" pageant, which attracts thousands of visitors and is a regional holiday staple.

Vendors owed money by the church formed a committee in April and agreed to a moratorium to negotiate a repayment plan with the Crystal Cathedral.

Kristina Oliver, whose Hemet-based company provided live animals for the church's "Glory of Christmas" manger scene, said she doubts she will recover in full the $57,000 she is owed.

"The church never made any kind of advancement that they wanted to pay their debt, that they were willing to try to make it happen and every time we tried they told us, 'You can't tell us how to run our business,"' Oliver said.

"I'm upset because I have a 30-year relationship with them and you need to be up front, put all your cards on the table."

Crystal Cathedral was founded at a drive-in theater and attracted congregants with its sermons on the power of positive thinking. It features a soaring glass spire and is an architectural wonder and tourist destination.

The "Hour of Power" telecast, filmed in the cathedral's main sanctuary, at one point attracted 1.3 million viewers in 156 countries.

Church leaders said the telecast and Sunday services will continue while in bankruptcy.

Crystal Cathedral and other megachurches have suffered from the recession and reduced charitable giving.

The church saw revenue drop roughly 30 percent in 2009 and simply couldn't slash expenses quickly enough to avoid accruing the debt, said Jim Penner, a church pastor and executive producer of the "Hour of Power."

Penner said it became difficult to hold the vendors' committee together after several vendors filed lawsuits and obtained writs of attachment to try to collect their cash.

Now, the church is avoiding credit entirely and spends only the roughly $2 million it receives each month in donations and revenue, Penner said. The church still hopes to pay all of the vendors back in full, he said.

"What we're doing now is we're trying to walk what we preach, we're paying cash for things as we go," he said.

Corruption?

As I awoke this morning I heard a news report from Kosovo, where a man alluded to Corruption while speaking of the upcoming elections.

I ask myself whether this is a new found phenomenon?

Everywhere people are complaining about Corruption. Is there anything new under the sun? Has Corruption surfaced in every country of the world for the first time all at once?

5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

6For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

7Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

8For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

9The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

11As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool

THE ILLUMINATI

PART 1

By Dennis L. Cuddy, Ph.D.
October 18, 2010
NewsWithViews.com

[Note: With the national elections only two weeks away, few people seem to realize President Obama’s dirty little secret. That is he will not be all that sad if the Republicans win control of the U.S. House and/or Senate. He figures that two years from now if the economy is better, he’ll be able to win re-election based upon that.
But if things aren’t better, he plans to say that’s the fault of the Republicans who control the House and/or Senate. He’ll then say that since he’s not to blame, the people should therefore re-elect him as President.]

The Illuminati (called “The Order” by its members) was a secret society founded on May 1, 1776 by Adam Weishaupt. According to University of Edinburgh professor (and General Secretary of the Royal Society of Edinburgh) John Robinson in Proofs of a Conspiracy (1798), its purpose was to root out all religion and ordinary morality, abolish national distinctions, demean patriotism, and “rule the world.”

Weishaupt had been a Jesuit and professor of Canon Law at the University at Ingolstadt (Bavaria), and he initially called his secret society Perfektibilisten. According to Will and Ariel Durant in Rousseau and Revolution (1967), Weishaupt “followed the model of the Society of Jesus [Jesuits], divided his associates into grades of initiation, and pledged them to obey their leaders in a campaign to ‘unite all men capable of independent thought,’ make man ‘a masterpiece of reason, and thus attain highest perfection in the art of government’.” Weishaupt said, “Reason will be the only code of man…. When at last reason becomes the religion of man, so will the problem be solved.” To Weishaupt (Illuminati code name Spartacus), the “problem” was all authority, monarchical and religious, as well as ownership of private property.

Weishaupt believed that he had developed a plan that could not be stopped, saying “my means are effectual, and irresistable. Our secret association works in a way that nothing can withstand.” A key component of his plan included directing academic and religious education. If the Illuminati “was to govern the world,” as they believed, they had to “acquire the direction of education—of church management—of the professorial chair, and the pulpit” (Robinson, page 109). From Illuminati “secret correspondence” Robinson found their “Instruction B for the whole degree of Regent” that included winning “the common people in every corner. This will be done chiefly by means of the schools, and by open, hearty behavior, show condescension, popularity and toleration of their prejudices which we shall at leisure root out and dispel.”

According to Friedrich Christoph Schlosser’s History of the eighteenth century and of the nineteenth till the overthrow of the French Empire: With particular reference to mental cultivation and progress (Vol. IV, 1845), the Illuminati was particularly interested in princes, declaring that their “grand object shall be to disseminate true knowledge among classes, and to bring the ruling princes under guardianship of the order.” One way the Illuminati did this was to place their members as tutors of the children of nobility, especially princes who would later become rulers of countries. Such is the case of Alexander I of Russia who came under the influence of the Illuminati at a young age.

The secret correspondence of the Illuminati also revealed their plan to use the liberation of women for their purposes, as is stated “There is no way of influencing men so powerfully as by means of the women. These should therefore be our chief study; we should insinuate ourselves into their good opinion, give them hints of emancipation from the tyranny of public opinion and of standing up for themselves; it will be an immense relief to their enslaved minds to be freed from any one bond of restraint, and it will fire them more, and cause them to work for us with zeal, without knowing that they do so; for they will only be indulging their own desire of personal admiration.”

Concerning religious education, Terry Melanson of the online Illuminati Conspiracy Archive said “Weishaupt and his control turned Jesus into a socialist revolutionary: representing Him as a secret society adept, who came to preach egalitarian virtue.” In a letter dated September 19, 1776, Weishaupt refers to “our grand master, Jesus of Nazareth.”

In terms of morality, Robinson indicated the Illuminati’s plan included “destroying the veneration of marriage-vows.” And he includes a letter from Illuminist Count Ludwig Savioli (code name Brutus) stating: “The Order must possess the power of life and death in consequence of our Oath… by the same right that any government in the world possesses it: For the Order comes in their place, making them unnecessary.” This power of life and death included abortion, as Robinson wrote that in the handwriting of Franz Zwack (Weishaupt’s closest confidant, and code name Cato) was “description of a strong box, which, if forced open, shall blow up and destroy its contents—Several receipts for procuring abortion—A composition which blinds or kills when spurted in the face… A method for filling a bed-chamber with pestilential vapours….” Regarding abortion, Weishaupt wrote to confidant Jakob Hertel (code name Marius) in September 1783 that Weishaupt and his sister-in-law “have tried every method in our power to destroy the child” in her womb.

Not only did the members of the Illuminati have code names, but symbols as well. According to Librarian of Congress and Rhodes Scholar James Billington in Fire in the Minds of Men (1980), “Weishaupt described his recruitment of Illuminists from within Masonic Lodges in Munich as ‘the progress of the [picture of a point in the middle of a circle]’ in the political area.” Also, if one looks at the Masonic website, one can see the owl as an Illuminati symbol for their Minerval degree, which was just above the class of Novice. In Greek mythology, Minerva (Pallas-Athene or Athena) was the goddess of wisdom and reason. The Illuminati’s Censor at the Minerval Assembly (at night) bows in front of the pyramid painted there. At this point, you might remember the gigantic carved owl present at the Bohemian Grove in California where many of the elite yearly gather in secret.

Robinson related that once one became an Illuminatus Minor, “the pupil is warmed by the pictures of universal happiness, and convinced that it is a possible thing to unite all the inhabitants of the earth in one great society…. [Then] it may frequently be no hard task to make him think that patriotism is a narrow-minded monopolizing sentiment.” In a strategy Fabian Socialists later would adopt, the Illuminatus Minor also is told: “We must do our utmost to procure our advancement of Illuminati to all civil offices.” Fabian Socialist H.G. Wells in New Worlds for Old (1907) revealed: “Socialism ceased to be an open revolution, and became a plot. Functions were to be shifted, quietly, unostentatiously, from the representative to the official he appointed: a bureaucracy was to slip into power….”

Baron Adolph von Knigge (code name Philo) was Weishaupt’s second-in-command from 1780-1784. And according to Robinson, “his favorite scheme” was to create “Citizens of the World.” You might reflect at this point whether you have heard any leading political figures recently refer to themselves as “Citizens of the World.” Thus, whether it’s world citizenship, abortion, women’s liberation, or some other issue today, one can probably trace its origins back to being part of the Illuminati’s plan.

Early life and family
Coons grew up in Hockessin, Delaware, married Annie Lingenfelter, and has three children. They live in Wilmington, Delaware. He graduated from the Tower Hill School and then Amherst College in 1985 with a B.A. in Chemistry and Political Science, earning a Truman Scholarship. During his junior year of college, Coons studied abroad at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. He earned graduate degrees from both the law and divinity schools at Yale University.

Professional career
After college, Coons worked in Washington, D.C., for the Investor Responsibility Research Center, where he wrote a book on South Africa and the U.S. divestment movement. He then worked as a volunteer for the South African Council of Churches and as a relief worker in Kenya, before returning to the U.S. to work for the Coalition for the Homeless in New York. In 1992, he earned his J.D. degree from Yale Law School, and a master's degree in Ethics from Yale Divinity School.[4]

Coons clerked for Judge Jane Richards Roth on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and then worked for the National "I Have a Dream" Foundation in New York.[5] After returning to Delaware in 1996, Coons began his eight year career as in-house counsel for W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc., Newark, Delaware-based makers of Gore-Tex fabrics and other high-tech materials. There he was responsible for the ethics training program, federal government relations, e-commerce legal work, and for general commercial contracting.[citation needed]

He has also worked with several non-profits, including the Council for the Homeless, the education-oriented “I Have a Dream” Foundation of Delaware, and the South African Council of Churches, and serves on several boards including First State Innovation, the Bear/Glasgow Boys & Girls Club, and the Delaware College of Art & Design.

Awards and honors
In 1999, he was awarded the Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award for his work with the "I Have a Dream" Foundation, the Governor's Mentoring Council, and the United Way of Delaware.[citation needed]

Coons has been named an honorary commander of the 166th Air Wing of the Delaware Air National Guard, and is an honorary life member of the Minquadale Fire Company.

Political career
Coons first became involved in politics working on behalf of Republican politicians, first for Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign in 1980 and then for Bill Roth's Senate campaign in 1982.[6] During college, he switched from being a Republican to a Democrat and in 1988, Coons worked as a volunteer for the Senate campaign of Democratic Delaware Lt. Gov. Shien Biau Woo[5]. He was a delegate from Wilmington to the 1996 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. His first elected office was President of the New Castle County Council, elected in 2000 and serving four years before being elected County Executive in 2004. He was the endorsed candidate of the New Castle County Democratic Party in 2008, and was re-nominated by the party on September 9, 2008.

Coons was re-elected on November 4, 2008, defeating Republican candidate and former New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon.

2010 U.S. Senate campaign
See also: United States Senate special election in Delaware, 2010
Coons is running in the 2010 special election against the Republican candidate Christine O'Donnell for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Ted Kaufman, who was appointed after Joe Biden resigned.[7][dead link]

In the first post-primary polls, Rasmussen Reports showed Coons with a double-digit lead over O'Donnell, describing this as a "remarkable turnaround" as the race had been leaning Republican until O'Donnell upset Mike Castle in the Republican primary election.[8]

Controversy
During the campaign, a controversy arose surrounding an article Coons wrote in 1985 for his college newspaper, entitled "Chris Coons: The Making of a Bearded Marxist". In it, he describes his transformation from a Republican to what FoxNews described as a "Democrat suspicious of America's power and ideals."[9]Coons said his college anthropology courses had "undermined the accepted value of progress and the cultural superiority of the West", while coursework on the Vietnam War had led him to suspect that "the ideal of America as a ‘beacon of freedom and justice, providing hope for the world' was not exactly based on reality." He went on to state that his belief in the "miracles of free enterprise and the boundless opportunities of America" may be untrue. Coons concluded the article with the statement that he had "returned to loving America, but in a way of one who has realized its faults and failures and still believes in its promise."[10][11]

Dave Hoffman, a Coons campaign spokesman, said the title of the article was designed as a humorous take-off on a joke Coons's college friends had made about how his time outside the country had affected his outlook. "After witnessing crushing poverty and the consequences of the Reagan Administration's 'constructive engagement' with the South African apartheid regime, he rethought his political views, returned to the America he loved and proudly registered as a Democrat," Hoffman said in a statement to POLITICO.[12]

According to FoxNews, Coons was "targeted by Republicans" over the 25-year-old piece. Coons himself downplayed the article, as well as controversial past statements by his opponent Christine O'Donnell, saying that voters were interested in current issues such as job creation and the national debt and were not "particularly interested in statements that either of us made 20 or 30 years ago."[9] David Weigel, writing in Slate, opined: "If the Tea Party Express slings the 'bearded Marxist' nonsense, I doubt it will work."[13]

Public offices
The County Executive of New Castle County takes office the first Tuesday of January and has a term of four years. In his six years in office as County Executive, Coons balanced the budget with a surplus in fiscal year 2010 by cutting spending and raising taxes.[14] New Castle County maintained a AAA bond rating throughout his tenure.[15]

Super Typhoon Lashes Philippines, Knocks Out Power

Updated: 13 minutes ago
Bullit Marquez

AP CAUAYAN, Philippines (Oct. 18) -- The strongest cyclone in years to buffet the Philippines knocked out communications and power as residents took shelter Monday, while flooding in Vietnam swept away a bus and 20 of its passengers, including a girl pulled from her mother's grasp by the raging waters.

Super Typhoon Megi, crossing the northern Philippines, was expected to add to the already heavy rains that have fallen on much of Asia. In China, authorities evacuated 140,000 people from a coastal province ahead of the typhoon.

Megi could later hit Vietnam, where flooding has caused 30 deaths in recent days, in addition to those missing and feared dead after a bus was snatched off a road by surging currents Monday.

Megi packed sustained winds of 140 miles (225 kilometers) per hour and gusts of 162 mph (260 kph) as it made landfall midday Monday at Palanan Bay in Isabela province, felling trees and utility poles and cutting off power, phone and Internet services in many areas. It appeared to be weakening while crossing the mountains of the Philippines' main northern island of Luzon.

With more than 3,600 Filipinos riding out the typhoon in sturdy school buildings, town halls, churches and relatives' homes, roads in and out of coastal Isabela province, about 320 kilometers (200 miles) northeast of Manila, were deserted and blocked by collapsed trees and power lines.

One man who had just rescued his water buffalo slipped and fell into a river and probably drowned, said Bonifacio Cuarteros, an official with the Cagayan provincial disaster agency.

As it crashed ashore, the typhoon whipped up huge waves. There was zero visibility and radio reports said the wind was so powerful that people could not take more than a step at a time. Ships and fishing vessels were told to stay in ports, and several domestic and international flights were canceled.

Thousands of military reserve officers and volunteers were on standby, along with helicopters, including six Chinooks that were committed by U.S. troops holding war exercises with Filipino soldiers near Manila, said Benito Ramos, a top disaster-response official.

"This is like preparing for war," Ramos, a retired army general, told The Associated Press. "We know the past lessons, and we're aiming for zero casualties."

In July, an angry President Benigno Aquino III fired the head of the weather bureau for failing to predict that a typhoon would hit Manila. That storm killed more than 100 people in Manila and outlying provinces.

This time, authorities sounded the alarm early and ordered evacuations and the positioning of emergency relief and food supplies days before the typhoon hit. The capital was expected to avoid any direct hit, though schools were closed.

Megi was the most powerful typhoon to hit the Philippines in four years, government forecasters say. A 2006 howler with 155-mph (250-kph) winds set off mudslides that buried entire villages, killing about 1,000 people.

In central Vietnam, officials said 20 people on a bus were swept away Monday by strong currents from a river flooded by recent rains unrelated to Megi, while another 17 survived by swimming or clinging to trees or power poles.

One survivor treaded water for 3½ hours as the current pushed her downstream and she was forced to let go of her daughter due to exhaustion. The girl is among the missing.

Officials said 30 other people died in central Vietnam from flooding over the weekend, and five remain missing.

Megi could add to the misery.

"People are exhausted," Vietnamese disaster official Nguyen Ngoc Giai said by telephone from Quang Binh province. "Many people have not even returned to their flooded homes from previous flooding, while many others who returned home several days ago were forced to be evacuated again."

China's National Meteorological Center said Megi was expected to enter the South China Sea on Tuesday, threatening southeasterern coastal provinces. The center issued its second-highest alert for potential "wild winds and huge waves," warning vessels to take shelter and urging authorities to brace for emergencies.

Floods triggered by heavy rains forced nearly 140,000 people to evacuate from homes in the southern island province of Hainan, where heavy rains left thousands homeless over the weekend, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.

Thailand also reported flooding that submerged thousands of homes and vehilce and halting train service. No casualties were reported, but nearly 100 elephants were evacuated from a popular tourist attraction north of the capital.

Associated Press writers Jim Gomez, Teresa Cerojano and Hrvoje Hranjski in Manila; Margie Mason and Tran Van Minh in Hanoi, Vietnam; and Chi-Chi Zhang in Beijing contributed to this report.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

8The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

Rotarians Attend UN Prayer Service

Rotarians Attend UN Prayer Service

Rotarians attended the Prayer Service for the start of the 64th Session of the General Assembly lead by Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York. The Archbishop recommended adopting a “tongue common to all of us that has at its center the human person the heart of all institutions, laws and works of society." He made these comments on September 14 at the Church of the Holy Family, (the United Nations Roman Catholic parish). The Vatican’s Permanent Observer at the U.N., Archbishop Celestino Migliore, as well as U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, spoke at the service.

With an ostensible reference to the Tower of Babel, the Archbishop noted that the international community would be better served if it used as an official language "a voice, a tongue, common to all of us, and one that does not demand the use of a dictionary or grammar. This tongue speaks of help and hope, mercy and tenderness, of fatigue over war, of longing for simple decency and dignity."

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also addressed the attendees and stated: "I am deeply honored to join with you once again for this service. I look forward to it every year. For the United Nations, September is the season of renewal. And we begin right here. By giving thanks, gathering strength, and looking forward in faith: Faith in our universal values, faith in our common humanity, and faith in our shared future."

A reception immediately followed the service at Holy Family's Community Center. (Photos)

Adventist-run Ministry to Muslims to be Featured in Parade Magazine

Adventist-operated Good Neighbor Community Center (GNCC) in Lincoln, Neb., is slated to be the Oct. 10 cover feature of Parade magazine because of its “MENA Hope Project”—a ministry to mostly Muslim immigrants from the Middle East and North Africa.

“God has blessed us with a wonderful opportunity before the entire country,” says Sheila Schlisner, head of GNCC and Adventist Community Services director for the Mid-America Union. “The Parade journalist spent two days here, along with a photographer.”

GNCC began in 1973 as a collaborative ministry among Lincoln-area Adventist churches. Its founder was the city's first female Adventist police officer, Hulda Ropper, who saw the need for relieving basic and emergency needs. Today, many other churches in the community, representing a spectrum of denominations, contribute to the ministry of the center.

GNCC had 58,000 compassion contacts with Lincoln-area residents this past year in a building provided rent-free by the Kansas-Nebraska Conference. Its MENA division assists about 1,000 mostly-Islamic immigrants from 200 families who came to Lincoln from the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to providing immediate physical necessities, MENA offers cultural assimilation counseling along with classes in citizenship, healthy cooking, swimming and parenting.

“GNCC is showing that Christians and Muslims can interact in peace and compassion,” says Roscoe J. Howard III, president of the Mid-America Union. “This is exactly the type of cross-cultural, interfaith good-will initiative that society is yearning for and that Christ has called us to do.”

According to its website, Parade is the most widely read magazine in America, with a circulation of 32.2 million. A prototype of the Oct. 10 cover has been readied and will feature the GNCC story unless preempted at the last minute. Having an Adventist-operated ministry so honored is potentially a huge goodwill windfall for the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Rotary Clubs Honor Traditions While Facing Change

Rotary Clubs Honor Traditions While Facing Change

By Susan Kim, STAFF WRITER

Connecting with other businesspeople and helping others were the top reasons cited by local Rotary club members as their reasons for joining in the first place. Now they find themselves honoring the traditions of Rotary while, at the same time, facing changes that have shifted their trends on fundraising, membership and global outlook.

Betty Loafmann, owner of the 4 East Madison Inn in Baltimore, moved to Baltimore from Chicago in 2003 and promptly joined the Baltimore club, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012.

"A friend said it would be an excellent place to meet people, and it was," said Loafmann, who is now president of the club.

Meanwhile, the North Anne Arundel club is just 3 years old but is already forging close ties between its members. Architect Peter Notari, president of Notari Associates in Baltimore, became a member when the chapter started.

"When we chartered there were 24 of us," he said. "I was intrigued because, while my business is in Baltimore, I live in Linthicum, and I didn't have a lot of business connections to Anne Arundel County. The other thing that attracted me to Rotary is the idea of civic work to better the community."

A Better World, Locally and Globally
Across the board, Rotary members said they appreciate the chance Rotary offers to not only make their community a better place, but to reach out locally to those in need.

"It's something to help the community," said Jeff Blitz, owner of Laurel Automotive and president of the Laurel club. Blitz said that, currently, the club is focusing on enhancing education in the community in a variety of ways.

Like other local clubs, the Laurel club also has a global outlook. In the wake of the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in January, the club raised funds for an international aid kit that contained a 10-person tent, portable stove, blankets and other survival tools.

The Bowie Club is also focused on meeting the needs of others, and is currently in the planning stages of a bus shelter for the C. Elizabeth Rieg Regional School in Bowie, a public special education school.

Abba Polangin, president of the Bowie club and a local architect, said the club, though fairly new, is already immersed in the project.

"We chose a bus shelter because, every day, 12 to 14 buses pull up in front of the school and each child has to be unbuckled from the seat, rolled to a lift, and lowered to the ground, where an adult picks them up. Then, it's the reverse in the afternoon. They do that completely in the weather right now," he said.

Changes Afoot
Rotarians also reported that, though their organization is steeped in tradition, clubs are extremely adaptable to change.

David Newman, president of the Clarksville club and pastor of New Hope Adventist Church, said he has been a Rotary member since before women were officially admitted to Rotary. The Rotary club was established in 1905, but it wasn't until 1989, after a legal battle, that women were admitted to the international service organization. Today all clubs in the United States and Canada permit female members.

"When I joined, Rotary was very much a men's club - and it's been so much better since women have joined the ranks," he said.

Rotary clubs always have thought on a global level, but now are working more effectively on a larger scale, reflected John Contreras, president of the Columbia Town Center club and general manager of business affairs at Athelas Institute.

"Clubs are coming up with bigger and better ways to help worldwide with big disasters, and with nearly eradicating polio in countries such as India," he said.

Constantly Evolving
As the community around them changes, local clubs change, too. Sometimes that means taking a hard look at the habits of a club, said Michael Maultsby, president of the Glen Burnie club and a senior accountant for Clark & Anderson.

"The club has gone from being one of the larger clubs in the district to a smaller club, and now to a growing club. Over the years, as we shrunk a little, we really needed to take a good hard look at ourselves and work to find who we are. While we have numerous dedicated Rotarians, we, like most organizations, have had to accept that change happens, and we are not the same club we were when we started 81 years ago, or that we were 10 or 20 years ago."

The Glen Burnie club is one among many local clubs that has had to work to redefine itself and its parameters, explained Maultsby. "For a number of years we had followed the normal migration of age, though this year we have been working on growing, and also trying to attract younger members."

Loyal And True

When Jesus revealed to His disciples the fate of Jerusalem and the scenes of the second advent, He foretold also the experience of His people from the time when He should be taken from them, to His return in power and glory. Penetrating deeper into the future, His eye discerned the fierce, wasting tempests that were to beat upon His followers in the coming ages of darkness and persecution. In a few brief utterances of awful significance He foretold the portion which the rulers of this world would mete out to the church of God.

Paganism foresaw that should the gospel triumph, her temples and altars would be swept away; therefore she summoned her forces to destroy Christianity. The fires of persecution were kindled.

These persecutions, beginning under Nero, continued with greater or less fury for centuries. Christians were falsely accused of the most dreadful crimes and declared to be the cause of great calamities - famine, pestilence, and earthquake. Great numbers were thrown to wild beasts or burned alive in amphitheaters. Some were crucified; others were covered with the skins of wild animals and thrust into the arena to be torn by dogs. Vast multitudes assembled to enjoy the sight and greeted their dying agonies with laughter and applause.

Wherever they sought refuge, the followers of Christ were hunted like beasts of prey. They were forced to seek concealment in desolate and solitary places. These called to mind the words of their Master, that when persecuted for Christ's sake, they were to be exceeding glad, for great would be their reward in heaven; for so the prophets had been persecuted before them. They rejoiced that they were accounted worthy to suffer for the truth, and songs of triumph ascended from the midst of crackling flames. Looking upward by faith, they saw Christ and angels gazing upon them with the deepest interest and regarding their steadfastness with approval. A voice came down to them from the throne of God: "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life"(Revelation 2:10)

In vain were Satan's efforts to destroy the church of Christ by violence, God's workmen were slain, but His work went steadily forward. The gospel continued to spread and the number of its adherents to increase. "The oftener we are mown down by you, the more in number we grow; the blood of Christians is seed" (Tertullian, Apology, par. 50)

Satan therefore laid his plans to war more successfully against the government of God by planting his banner in the Christian church. If the followers of Christ could be deceived and led to displease God, then their strength, fortitude, and firmness would fail, and they would fall an easy prey.

The great adversary now endeavored to gain by artifice what he had failed to secure by force. Persecution ceased, and in its stead were substituted the dangerous allurements of temporal prosperity and worldly honor. Idolaters were led to receive a part of the Christian faith, while they rejected other essential truths. They professed to accept Jesus as the Son of God and to believe in His death and resurrection, but they had no conviction of sin and felt no need of repentance or of a change of heart. With some concessions on their part they proposed that Christians should make concessions, that all might unite on the platform of belief in Christ.

There have ever been two classes among those who profess to be followers of Christ. While one class study the Saviour's life and earnestly seek to correct their defects and conform to the Pattern, the other class shun the plain, practical truths which expose their errors.

It required a desperate struggle for those who would be faithful to stand firm against the deceptions and abominations which were disguised in sacerdotal garments and introduced into the church. The Bible was not accepted as the standard of faith. The doctrine of religious freedom was termed heresy, and its upholders were hated and proscribed.

Now the church was in fearful peril. Prison, torture, fire, and sword were blessings in comparison with this. Some of the Christians stood firm, declaring that they could make no compromise. Others were in favor of yielding or modifying some features of their faith and uniting with those who had accepted a part of Christianity, urging that this might be the means of their full conversion. That was a time of deep anguish to the faithful followers of Christ. Under a cloak of pretended Christianity, Satan was insinuating himself into the church, to corrupt their faith and turn their minds from the word of truth.

Most of the Christians at last consented to lower their standard, and a union was formed between Christianity and paganism. Although the worshipers of idols professed to be converted, and united with the church, they still clung to their idolatry, only changing the objects of their worship to images of Jesus, and even of Mary and the saints. The foul leaven of idolatry, thus brought into the church, continued its baleful work. Unsound doctrines, superstitious rites, and idolatrous ceremonies were incorporated into her faith and worship. As the followers of Christ united with idolaters, the Christian religion became corrupted, and the church lost her purity and power.

There were some, however, who were not misled by these delusions. They still maintained their fidelity to the Author of truth and worshiped God alone.

Satan exulted that he had succeeded in deceiving so large a number of the followers of Christ. He then brought his power to bear more fully upon these, and inspired them to persecute those who remained true to God. None understood so well how to oppose the true Christian faith as did those who had once been its defenders; and these apostate Christians, uniting with their half-pagan companions, directed their warfare against the most essential features of the doctrines of Christ.

The early Christians were indeed a peculiar people. Their blameless deportment and unswerving faith were a continual reproof that disturbed the sinner's peace. Though few in numbers, without wealth, position, or honorary titles, they were a terror to evildoers wherever their character and doctrines were known.

Therefore they were hated by the wicked, even as Abel was hated by the ungodly Cain. For the same reason that Cain slew Abel, did those who sought to throw off the restraint of the Holy Spirit, put to death God's people. It was for the same reason that the Jews rejected and crucified the Saviour--because the purity and holiness of His character was a constant rebuke to their selfishness and corruption. From the days of Christ until now His faithful disciples have excited the hatred and opposition of those who love and follow the ways of sin.

After a long and severe conflict, the faithful few decided to dissolve all union with the apostate church if she still refused to free herself from falsehood and idolatry। They saw that separation was an absolute necessity if they would obey the word of God। They dared not tolerate errors fatal to their own souls, and set an example which would imperil the faith of their children and children's children. To secure peace and unity they were ready to make any concession consistent with fidelity to God; but they felt that even peace would be too dearly purchased at the sacrifice of principle.

Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen

Psalm 106

1Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
.
2Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?

3Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

4Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;

5That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.

6We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

8Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.

9He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.

10And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

12Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

13They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:

14But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

15And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.

16They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.

17The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan and covered the company of Abiram.

18And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

19They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.

20Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

21They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;

22Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.

23Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

25But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

26Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

27To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

28They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.

30Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.

31And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.

32They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:

33Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

35But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

36And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.

37Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

38And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

39Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

40Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

41And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

42Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.

44Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:

45And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.

46He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.

47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.

48Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting: and let all the people say, Amen. Praise ye the LORD.

Series Of Earthquakes Hit Central Arkansas

Reported by: Jackie Orozco

GUY, AR - Central Arkansas has been hit by a series of earthquakes recently, the biggest so far was a magnitude four that shook the town of Guy, about 150 miles west of Memphis.

A research scientist from the University of Memphis, Dr। Steve Horton said Arkansas is getting a lot of unusual earthquakes, more than 60 in the last month।

"In the New Madrid Seismic Zone there's approximately 200 per year, so if we had that many in Central Arkansas in less than a month, something is going on," said Dr। Horton।

That part of central Arkansas isn't even part of the New Madrid Fault Zone, so researchers are trying to figure out what's causing all those earthquakes। Horton thinks, the earthquake swarm could be the result of injecting salt water into old natural gas wells to force more gas production।

"There’s salt water that’s a by product of the natural gas industry in that area and then disposed in a well," said Dr। Horton.

Even though the two areas are not connected, Horton's biggest worry is along the New Madrid Fault where he said damage from a magnitude six earthquake could be catastrophic to Mid-Southerners।

"A probability of having that in a 50-year period is about 25 to 40-percent chance," said Dr। Horton.

There have been no reports of damage or anyone getting hurt from the earthquakes in central Arkansas. The largest earthquake along the New Madrid Fault was a 7.7 magnitude in 1811. It caused a massive upheaval of the ground and the shaking was felt all the way to New York City.

Day 4 of French strikes: refinery strike hits airport fuel supply

AP
French students erect a barricade in front of their college "Les Eucalyptus" in Nice, southeastern France on Friday. Students intensified blockades of high schools and universities, as a fourth straight day of nationwide strikes over the government's retirement reform snarled train travel and shuttered oil refineries
.

As police intervened at several sites to prevent the risk of petrol shortages, strikers blocked the gates of other oil depots as the bitter tug-of-war continued over the reform.

Fuel stopped flowing to Paris’s two main airports on Friday as strikes against President Nicolas Sarkozys pension reform went into their fourth day।The company that operates the pipeline serving Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports told French media that fuel had stopped flowing because of the strike at the refinery providing it।

On Friday, those strikes affected all 12 of France’s oil refineries, and many oil depots were blockaded, raising fears of eventual fuel shortages.
Early on Friday, French police forcibly lifted the blockades of several oil depots as the bitter tug-of-war continued over the reform, which foresees gradually raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 by the year 2018.

Unions have set mass street protests against the reform for Saturday and called for another day of nationwide strikes and demonstrations on Tuesday।

The strike continued to disrupt railway traffic on Friday, with an average of about one in two scheduled high-speed TGV trains and regional trains operating।

Secondary school students protested in several cities Friday। In Cannes, a police officer was taken to hospital after being struck by a rock. Several hundred schools were disrupted by anti-reform activities Friday, the education ministry said.

The reform has passed the National Assembly and will be voted on in the Senate on Wednesday.

Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God

12Then spake Jeremiah unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.

13Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

14As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seemeth good and meet unto you.

15But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
