March 10 (Bloomberg) -- The Wisconsin Assembly voted 53-42 to give final passage to a bill curbing collective bargaining for most government workers that was stalled for weeks when Democratic senators left for Illinois to prevent a quorum.

The measure, which exempts police and firemen, limits bargaining to wages, not benefits or working conditions. Unions would be subject to recertification votes every year, requiring 51 percent of members, not just those voting. Automatic withdrawals to pay union dues would be prohibited.

Governor Scott Walker, a 43-year-old first-term Republican, said the measure would generate $30 million in savings this fiscal year and $300 million in the next two years. The bill calls for workers to pay more toward pensions and health insurance. He said he will sign the measure as soon as he is able.

"This is disgraceful and you all know it," Representative Tamara Grigsby, a Democrat from Milwaukee, told Republicans in a floor speech. "You know this is wrong, and you're going to pay a price for it."

Ash Wednesday - Could you give up Facebook for 40 days of Lent?

Last Updated: Wednesday, March 09, 2011 7:46 AM

Could you give up Facebook for 40 days?

ORLANDO -- Wednesday marks beginning of Lent, as Christians around the world observe Ash Wednesday.

The day kicks off a solemn period of 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday, which falls on April 24 this year.

If the math seems confusing, it's because those 40 days do not include the six Sundays between Ash Wednesday and Easter.
Ash Wednesday derives its name from the tradition of placing ashes on the forehead in the shape of a cross as a sign of mourning and repentance.

In some Christian denominations, observers may fast or abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday.

————————————————————————

No Facebook for 40 days?
Then there is the tradition of giving up something for Lent, usually a vice or a bad habit, as a form of penance and sacrifice.

Popular vices traditionally given up in the U.S. include chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, fast food and even swearing.

But how about Facebook? Could you live without it for 40 days?

In the last few years, social media has become a popular Lenten sacrifice among Christians and even some non-Christians.

Observers are urged to refocus on their personal relationships instead of virtual ones.

————————————————————————

Is your Bible up to date?
And just in time for Lent, two new translations of the Bible are being released.

Ash Wednesday marks the debut of a Revised Edition of the New American Bible, often used by Catholics; and the New International Version, often used by Protestants.

The new translations update some of the language in the Bibles, in some cases to make it more contemporary to reflect modern speech.

Women march for change

Equality, education, better life goals of International Women's Day

An anti-Gbagbo protester cries during a demonstration Tuesday in the Ivory Coast, where a disputed presidential election has sparked gun battles, including one that resulted in the deaths of seven women.Photograph by: Thierry Gouegnon, Reuters, Agence France-PresseWomen worldwide took to the streets Tuesday to mark the 100th International Women's Day, with protests against honour killings, the objectification of women in Italy and the shooting of seven women in Ivory Coast.

Drawing inspiration from the boardrooms of Finland and the toppling of autocratic regimes in Tunisia and Egypt, demonstrators staked their claim for equality, education and a better life.

A month before Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi goes on trial over allegations he paid an underage prostitute for sex, hundreds of women rallied in Rome. "Here women have sex with someone powerful to get into parliament. Women are treated like objects. I'm ashamed to have a prime minister like Berlusconi," said protester Irene D'Onfronio, 62.

In Turkey, women chanted "Don't turn our wedding dresses into shrouds" as they marched against honour killings, the murder of women by male family members because the women are deemed to have brought shame on their families.

Hundreds of women demonstrated in Ivory Coast, meanwhile, to condemn the killing of seven women at a rally last week demanding that strongman Laurent Gbagbo quit the presidency after losing elections.

In Guatemala, where nearly 700 women were killed in 2010, the head of a commission on "femicide" called for a specific statute on the killing of women.

Palestinian women took to the streets of Gaza to call for an end to the Israeli occupation. In the West Bank town of Beit Ummar, dozens of women blocked a major road for half an hour to protest Israeli roadblocks.

The European Union used the occasion to hail women's "crucial role in bringing about change in northern Africa."

"Amidst violence, women have joined the struggle for change," said the two female vice-presidents of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton and Viviane Reding. "Women must be at the heart of the discussions over the future order."

Whether in T-shirts and jeans or robes and veils, tens of thousands of women have recently made their voices heard on the streets from Tunis to Cairo and from Manama to Sanaa to demand reform in a region long ruled by autocracies.

Many around the world focused on gender equality, which OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria called "a moral imperative as well as an economic necessity."

"As we confront the scars of the financial crisis and search for new sources of growth, we cannot waste women's economic contributions," he said.

Visiting Finland, whose political leadership is top-heavy with women, U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden echoed the call, saying education of girls was the key to future global stability.

"The single most significant thing we can do in the 21st century to improve the prospect of peace and security is to educate more women," Biden said as he stood alongside Finnish President Tarja Halonen.

Biden praised gender equality in Finland, where the president, prime minister and opposition leader are all women.

In Greece, where the economic crisis has thrown disproportionately more women out of work, feminists staged a flash mob dubbed "Three Minutes Without Women" in a central square of Athens.

In Norway, the first country in the world to force large companies to gender balance their boardrooms, officials said the quotas should be extended to more companies.

The feminization of boardrooms "is going much too slowly," Trade and Industry Minister Trond Giske said.

A Moroccan human rights group called for the kingdom to enscribe gender equality in the constitution.

A leading rights activist in Morocco, where laws protecting girls from forced marriages are poorly enforced, blamed entrenched mindsets. In 2004, the minimum age of marriage for women was raised to 18 from 15, unless a judge grants special permission. Still, about 42,000 requests to marry minors were made in 2009, mostly in rural areas.

Cambodian women were unable to mark the day publicly as authorities banned a rally amid growing concern about a crackdown on freedom of expression in the country.

WOMEN'S DAY

HISTORY

International Women's Day was honoured the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19, 1911. More than one million women and men attended rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, hold public office and end discrimination.

HEALTH

On average, women live six to eight ? ? years longer than men globally.

In 2007, women's life expectancy ? ? at birth was more than 80 years in 35 countries, but only 54 years in the WHO African Region.

Girls are far more likely than boys ? ? to suffer sexual abuse.

??

EDUCATION

The ratio of girls' to boys' enrolment ? ? has steadily improved, reaching 97 girls per 100 boys at primary level, 96 girls per 100 boys at secondary level and 108 women per 100 men at tertiary level in 2008.

Women are nearly two-thirds of the ? ? world's 759 million illiterate adults.

Access to university-level ? ? education remains highly unequal, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. In these regions, only 67 and 76 girls per 100 boys, respectively, are enrolled in tertiary education.

On average, across 121 countries ? ? with available data, women account for 29 per cent of researchers, and only 15 per cent of countries have achieved gender parity.

??

POLITICAL PARITY

Between 1995 and 2010, the share ? ? of women in parliament, on a global level, increased from 11 per cent to 19 per cent a gain of 73 per cent, but far short of gender parity.

Progress in women's ? ? representation in executive branches of government is even slower. In 2010, just nine of 151 elected heads of state and 11 of 192 heads of government were women. Globally, women held only 16 per cent of ministerial posts.

Pantheism and the Alpha of Heresies

Pantheism and the Alpha of Heresies

The difficulties that have arisen have been very hard to meet, and they are far from being settled yet. One, and another, and still another are presented to me as having been led to accept the pleasing fables that mean the sanctification of sin. Living Temple contains the alpha of a train of heresies. There heresies are similar to those that I met in my first labors in connection with the cause in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, then in Boston, Roxbury, New Bedford, and other parts of Massachusetts. Through them the evil one worked upon the minds of men and women. {11MR 247.1}

There was a Mrs. Minor, who had been to Jerusalem. When she returned she advocated some of these sentimental, spiritualistic [SPIRITUALISM AS HERE USED REFERS TO A METHOD OF INTERPRETATION EMPLOYED AFTER THE GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT OF OCTOBER 22, 1844, WHEREBY PLAIN TRUTHS OF THE BIBLE WERE SPIRITUALIZED AWAY.] sophistries. She invited me to visit her and relate what the Lord shown me. Brother Nichols took my sister and self to her home in Roxbury, where we found a company of about twenty assembled. Among them were brethren and sisters whom I loved and highly esteemed. They had believed the testimonies that I had borne to the people. But they had been led astray by spiritualistic ideas which were nothing less than a love-sick sentimentalism. The power of God came upon me as I warned them of their dangers, and some said they had never expected to see so much of the blessing of God this side of the Eden above. I bore them a message similar to the message I have been bearing for the last two months. I was instructed that the ideas they had accepted were but the alpha of a great deception. I had to meet similar delusions in Portsmouth and in Boston. {11MR 247.2}

These doctrines led to free-loveism, and my heart was sorely grieved as I saw the result they brought to those who accepted them. One family who for years had lived happily together was broken up. A man and his wife, well advanced in years, were separated. The husband left his wife and children, and established other family relations. We seemed to be able to do nothing to break the spell upon these persons. The precious truths of the Bible had no influence over them. {11MR 248.1}

This same hypnotic influence is seen working among our people today. Ever since my return to America a heavy burden has rested upon me. Everywhere I see the power of the enemy. Were it not for the armies of the Lord's host, led by Michael, the destruction that Satan would be pleased to witness would come to the people of God. They would be discomfited and brought to shame. But the Lord will work for His people. He will not suffer them to be defeated. {11MR 248.2}

We have a most solemn work to do. I have been instructed that some of our ministering brethren are working with clouded vision. They see men as trees walking. {11MR 248.3}

Unless Brethren Jones, Tenney, Waggoner, and others who have been flattered by the leaders of the medical work are especially worked by the Holy Spirit, they will never see things as they are. It is hard for those who have been charmed by seductive, flattering, soul-destroying theories to see where these theories will lead, or to discern, wherein their spiritual eyesight has been defective. {11MR 248.4}

Dr. Kellogg has been beguiled by beautiful, philosophical theories that are contrary to the truth. He is standing as a guide and instructor of youth. But for a long time he has been presented to me as a man walking in strange paths. He has not been working with the Lord. If his blind eyes could be anointed with the heavenly eyesalve, and he would then look at himself in the moral looking glass, he would see his sad condition and understand that unless he breaks his heart before God, and makes an entire reformation, he will surely receive of the judgments of God. The Lord will not forever bear with his perversity. {11MR 249.1}

I am instructed to say that Dr. Kellogg is not yet soundly converted, and cannot be until by genuine faith he receives Christ as his Saviour. He needs to feel the divine power that will work in him the change of heart represented in the Scriptures as the new birth. Neither his words nor his actions can be depended on. He is surrounded by circumstances that tend to stimulate his pride and increase his vanity. He does not see his peril, nor does he see the dangerous path which he has been following. {11MR 249.2}

If he were openly united with the world, his course would be less dangerous to the people of God. {11MR 249.3}

God reads the heart. He understands the motives which cannot be discerned by men. The question was asked by one of authority, "How can God accept such a man, though his professions and his assertions be ever so strong?" For a long time he has been deceived by the enemy. After the South Lancaster Conference, [THE 1899 GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION WAS HELD AT SOUTH LANCASTER, MA.] he was for a time in the valley of decision, but since he decided what course he would pursue he has been making many false paths for his feet. {11MR 249.4}

His course in urging the adoption of binding agreements, and in leaning upon the arm of the law instead of upon the arm of God, has led him farther and farther from the truth. Yet the Lord says, "Let him now accept My word. If he will wear My yoke he shall be My chosen physician, My human helper." {11MR 250.1}

At the time of the General Conference in Battle Creek, [THE 1901 GENERAL CONFERENCE SESSION WAS HELD AT BATTLE CREEK, MI.] the Lord mercifully gave him another opportunity to change his course. He has waited for him to humble his heart. All obstructions were removed, even those that his own course had built up. But he was again deceived by the flatteries and sophistries of the enemy. Last spring he began a work of repentance. But he did not make thorough work. {11MR 250.2}

The Lord has a message for Dr. Kellogg. Holding up the Bible, one of authority said to him, "On this Book shalt thou meditate day and night. Then you will have much less confidence in your own wisdom and methods, and in the agreements and arrangements that you have formulated. You have greatly dishonored God. But He gives you another invitation. If you hear and obey His word, you will have power to become one of the sons of God. Make straight paths for your feet, lest the lame be turned out of the way. Unless in the cares of your accumulated responsibilities you take God as your guide, you will continue to act a part displeasing to God, and the blood of souls will be charged to your account.

"The Word of God is to be a lamp to your feet. That precious, sacred Word, is not to be appealed to to uphold any spiritualistic, philosophical views regarding God, for He is dishonored by such views. {11MR 251.1}

"No greater deception could be presented to the minds of men than the representation you have made of God in the pleasing fables you have advocated. Souls will be lost through the sowing of the sentiments found in Living Temple. In presenting error you have united with the prince of darkness in his work of seducing souls to eternal ruin. {11MR 251.2}

"The influence you have obtained with worldlings is not the credit to you that you have supposed it to be. Unless you change, decidedly change, your life will be a savor of death unto death instead of a savor of life unto life. {11MR 251.3}

"Make the Word of God the man of your counsel. It will be a lamp unto your feet, and a light unto your path. Study the Word to see what God has revealed in regard to who He is. He is 'the Almighty,' 'from everlasting,' an unerring Guide. Upon whom else would you venture to depend in times of difficulty? What folly could be greater than to set aside the wisdom of God, and accept the wisdom of him who fell from his exalted position in heaven as a covering cherub, and who has become the head of an apostate race? Will you unite with the arch-deceiver? Will you receive his deceptive falsehoods? Shall it continue to be said of you, 'Thou art weighed in the balances of the sanctuary, and art found wanting'?" {11MR 251.4}

My brother, heed the invitation of Christ, "Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29). Your safety depends on linking up with Christ, and learning from Him.

You have much to unlearn. Your example has not been in harmony with the example of Christ. You could do nothing more objectionable than to put aside the wisdom of God, and set up your own ideas as of greatest merit for healing diseased bodies and souls, belittling and disparaging the remedy prescribed by the eternal God, and superseding the divine instruction. {11MR 252.1}

God is in earnest with you. You have sought to set aside God's revealed will, teaching for doctrine the opinions and the speculations of finite human agencies through whom Satan works to destroy. Let the Word of God be your lesson book. Guided by it, you will be led to think wisely; you will reveal steadfastness of purpose; and you will build upon the true foundation. {11MR 252.2}
If you are transformed, and your character is formed after the character of Christ, it will be pleasing to God for you to remain in a position of responsibility. If you refuse to be transformed, if you look to men of the world, and cherish worldly ambition, turning from God to human beings, you will become an instrument of deception in the hands of Satan until at last you will have no power to break away from the snare. If you continue to work as you have been working, you will become one of the chief of sinners. But the eternal God has thoughts of mercy toward you, and He will abundantly pardon you through Jesus Christ if you will repent and turn to Him with full purpose of heart. {11MR 252.3}

Christ does not want you to lose your soul. He wants you to take hold of His saving grace, that He may do a thorough work in your heart. Now is your opportunity to decide whether you will have eternal life or eternal death. It will be a tremendous struggle for you to make a thorough work of repentance. Those who have not seen the inwardness of your character will flatter and sympathize with you, seeking to establish you in your sins. {11MR 252.4}

To such a man as Dr. Paulson the reception of spiritualistic ideas means much more than it can ever mean to you. When he realizes how near he has come to making shipwreck of his faith, when he sees that he has been giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, it may cost him his life. He will ever feel the wound. It is hard for you, but tenfold harder for such men as Dr. Paulson to recover from the shock.

My heart is heavily burdened over these matters. The knowledge of what these things will mean to you unless you change has induced me to urge you to become intelligent in regard to your condition, and to take your position for the truth.--Letter 265, 1903, pp. 1-7. 7 children die in Pennsylvania house fire

By Jason Kessler, CNN

March 9, 2011 -- Updated 1101 GMT (1901 HKT)

STORY HIGHLIGHTS
The children's ages are 7 months to 11 years
They are six girls and one boy
Police: The mother was milking cows in the barn and the father was at work

(CNN) -- Seven children died in a fire at a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania while their parents were elsewhere, state police said Wednesday morning.

The children -- ages 7 months to 11 years -- died Tuesday night when the fire fully engulfed the Mennonite family's two-story house in Loysville, about 25 miles northwest of Harrisburg, Tom Pinkerton of the state police said.

The parents, who were outside the house at the time of the fire, survived, as did another child, he said.

The father was taking a nap in his milk truck after making a few stops along his delivery route, Pinkerton said. The mother was milking cows in the barn.

"While mom's milking cows, her 3-year-old daughter comes running into the barn and the 3-year-old tells the mother that there's smoke inside the house," Pinkerton said. "Mom leaves the barn, comes running out, sees that the house appears to be on fire."

The mother went to two neighbors' houses before she could get someone to call 911, he said. She then found her husband sleeping in his milk truck and they rushed back to the home to find their home engulfed in flames and firefighters trying to put out the blaze.

The children -- six girls and a boy -- were found dead inside the house.

The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

22And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

24Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

25And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

26If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

27Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Luke 12:15-31

Stung: NPR Execs Caught in Candid Chat With Would-be Muslim Donors

A video made surreptitiously by a conservative sting artist shows phony, would-be Muslim donors meeting with two NPR fundraisers who are caught on the tape making candid, awkward comments about the Republican Party -- and also talking bluntly about the ouster of commentator Juan Williams.

Slate's David Weigel posted the video and a report on the incident. The sting operation, produced by conservative activist James O'Keefe, shows NPR fundraisers Ron Schiller (who has since left NPR) and Betsy Liley at lunch with two men masquerading as wealthy Muslim donors. That the NPR people appear to tell the supposed contributors what they want to hear is not an unusual approach for fundraisers.

But against the backdrop of a possible cut off of NPR funding proposed by the GOP-controlled U.S. House, Schiller can be heard saying that "very little of our funding comes from the government." That is correct. Then, talking about the GOP, he adds: "The current Republican Party, particularly the tea party, is fanatically involved in people's personal lives and very fundamental Christian -- and I wouldn't even call it Christian." In answer to a leading question about the tea party movement, he adds, "Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun toting -- it's pretty scary. They're seriously racist..."

Schiller, who has left his job as NPR Foundation's senior vice president for development, goes on to say that he is proud that NPR let Juan Williams go last year after Williams said on Fox News he would be concerned if he boarded a plane with fellow passengers in Muslim garb. "He lost all credibility and that breaks your ethics as a journalist." Schiller says.

NPR, in a statement, said: "The fraudulent organization represented in the video repeatedly pressed us to accept a $5 million check, with no strings attached, which we repeatedly refused to accept. We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for. Mr. Schiller announced last week he is leaving NPR for another job."

O'Keefe's Project Veritas gained notoriety in 2009 in another covertly made video that showed individuals posing as a pimp and prostitute seeming to get advice on gaming the tax system from a representative of ACORN, a liberal community activist organization. O'Keefe want too far last year when he and three others were charged with attempting to tamper with the phone lines in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu's New Orleans office. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, received three years' probation, a $1,500 fine and 100 hours of community service.

In Inter-America, church launches 'constant prayer' spiritual renewal program

Prayer, Bible study to propel region's Adventists toward revival, regional leaders say

The Seventh-day Adventist Church's Inter-American Division appealed to its more than 3.3 million members last week to seek spiritual renewal through prayer and Bible study with the regional launch of the denomination's Revival and Reformation program.

Wilson (right) addresses more than 13,000 church members during the launch of Inter-America's spiritual revival program in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic February 12. Urging a spirit of constant prayer among Adventists in the region, the program echoes the Adventist world church's recent emphasis on spiritual revival. It also features a 160-day prayer initiative addressing specific needs for each church territory in the region, church leaders said.

The three-hour satellite event, broadcast live on Hope Channel, Esperanza TV and 3ABN Latino, highlighted activities planned for members in the region for the initiative in the coming months.

A March 12 event will focus on prayer for children and young people. Later, Adventists in the region will pray for their pastors, charged with leading congregations toward spiritual revival. Focus will then shift to students and teachers across Inter-America's more than 1,000 Adventist-run schools and universities. In June, an emphasis on prayer in the home is expected to help members impact their neighbors.

"[God] wants to do something extraordinary in these end times," said Adventist world church President Ted N.C. Wilson, speaking at the February 12 launch at El Palacio de los Deportes in Santo Domingo. More than 13,000 Adventist leaders and church members attended the event.

Wilson urged Adventists in Inter-America to embrace a spirit of humility that he said will allow God to work through them. "We cannot initiate revival and reformation, we can only place ourselves in God's hands and then the power of [his spirit] will take control," he said.

"Let Seventh-day Adventists be known as people who practice Christianity. Let your humble lifestyle ... always point people to Jesus and His soon coming," Wilson added.

Wilson, who challenged church leaders in Inter-America to plead for an outpouring of God's spirit, was instrumental in prompting the region to launch its prayer initiative.

"The church in Inter-America has always been identified as a church that prays," said Israel Leito, president of the church in Inter-America. "We have this revival event today to thank the Lord, to tell the Lord that we want to be a people ready for His coming, and tell the world that we are a church that is 'Constant in Prayer' and will remain so."

Leaders in Inter-America report that church regions there have already embraced spiritual revival and reformation as part of their strategic plan to strengthen the church.

Shortly after Wilson's February 11 arrival in the Dominican Republic, top church officials from across the region met with the world church leader to pray for the initiative. The group heard Wilson's vision for a revived church and committed to take the call for spiritual renewal seriously.

"You look around the world and see what is happening in the natural world, political situation, fragile economic setting -- things are not going to get much better," Wilson said. "We know Jesus is coming soon."

Plans are underway for similar spiritual revival satellite event this summer, held in El Salvador, church leaders said.

Christians Call for Partnership Against Poverty (2005)

Flashback 2005:

14 Sep 2005,

Churches and governments must pursue partnerships to eradicate extreme poverty if the Millennium Declaration of 2000 is to meet its 2015 deadline, faith leaders who met at a two-day summit at the Washington National Cathedral, said in a communiqué.

Religious leaders from a wide range of denominations crafted and signed the communiqué outlining steps for governments and churches to take in building a global movement to help the poor.

On Sept. 13, the document was presented to United Nations officials in New York on the eve of the world body's 60th anniversary by a delegation representing the creators of the communiqué.
"This is an urgent call and one that responds to the cry of the least among us -- the voiceless," said Pastor Rajmund Dabrowski, communication director of the Seventh-day Adventist world church, and a participant in the consultation. "It's a cry for justice to be done, and for equitable redistribution and accountability for the wealth the world has. As Christians, we know this cry, but we also know that much more must be done and that intentions must turn into actions.

"Managing the world in which we live, a world of so many needs, is what Christians can contribute through their faith and actions,"
he said.

"In the context of the abysmal presence of poverty as a Christian I am compelled to consider generosity, solidarity and human justice and place it at the forefront of my Christian witness and presence, wherever I live. The Christian's response to a world of needs is driven by the gospel commission. Our response to God's call is a response to partner with Him," Dabrowski added.

The call for action against poverty came from a "Consultation of Religious Leaders on Global Poverty." The two-day session, Sept. 11 to 12, was sponsored by the Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation, a new initiative of the Cathedral College of Washington National Cathedral, which is part of the Episcopal Church U.S.A. Among the 36 participants of the consultation was the former Archbishop of Canterbury, George Leonard Carey, as well as other leaders of world Christian communions.

The consultation, which came about as an initiative of South Africa's Archbishop of Cape Town, Njongonkulu W.H. Ndungane, opened with a series of worship services and lectures in the Cathedral nave, including an address by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University and special advisor to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and a reflection by the former U.S. Secretary of State, Madeleine K. Albright. The participants also met with Paul Wolfowitz, president of the World Bank.

"At the urgent call of church leaders in the Southern hemisphere, we came together at Washington National Cathedral as Christian leaders from diverse traditions and places, both rich and poor, South and North, united in a common concern for those of us living in poverty. We see their faces; we hear their voices; they are a part of us, and we are a part of them," the communiqué states.

"We believe that our communities of faith, representing millions of people and sponsoring numerous human-development initiatives, can provide new models for advancing a global movement against poverty," the communiqué adds. "The churches have a vast network of institutions, trusted relationships with millions of people, and access to countless local communities, all rich resources for development."

The communiqué calls for global governments to make several steps aimed at implementing the "Millennium Development Goals" promulgated by the United Nations. Governments, the document said, should work at creating just societies; build partnerships with "churches and religious organizations so that the poor become protagonists in their own destinies"; "cancel the remaining debt of all nations struggling with extreme poverty"; "dramatically" increase development assistance; make "the world's trade systems fair and just for developing countries and peoples"; and "protect innocent populations, reduce the flow of arms, and support peace building" as a means of reducing poverty.

Significantly, the communiqué also asks for "accountability and transparency" in global development and antipoverty programs: "Corruption and a lack of transparency and accountability rob the poor of significant resources and pose an obstacle to development in many countries," the document says. "We know that nations and international institutions have undertaken anti-corruption initiatives; we commend these and urge that far greater resources be devoted to their implementation."

In his comments to the media, Archbishop Ndungane said plans are being developed to establish, in cooperation with faith communities, non-governmental organizations and other groups, an independent, African-based monitoring system to assist with the issues of transparency in the recipient countries.

Dabrowski said, "As a church we can cite many examples of our own involvement with alleviating the dire needs of the planet, whether through the work of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, or the work of education and healthcare. And there is an infrastructure -- it includes local congregations, education and health centers -- to deal with many of the issues identified by the Millennium Development Goals, and global poverty in particular.

"The partnership aspect, as identified in the communiqué, puts Adventists, along with other faith communities in a position of doing a better job in working together in the arena of common needs, being practical, as well as being more effective delivering help and hope. Christian churches are required to be accountable for the way we should share our abundance with the needy. What is also required [is] that the churches become more effective in communicating about the issues, and do so far and wide," Dabrowski added.

Among the concluding statements of the "Call to Partnership" communiqué is a call for faith communities to actively participate across a broad spectrum in development work: "As Christian leaders we challenge our own churches to pursue partnerships with governments, international organizations, civil society, and across confessional lines," the communiqué says.

Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me

Jeremiah 2

1Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

2Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.

3Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.

4Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:

5Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

6Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?

7And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.

8The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.

9Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.

10For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.

11Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

12Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.

13For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

14Is Israel a servant? is he a homeborn slave? why is he spoiled?

15The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.

16Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.

17Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?

18And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

19Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

20For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.

21Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?

22For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.

23How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift dromedary traversing her ways;

24A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

25Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

26As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.

27Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

28But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

29Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.

30In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

31O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?

32Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

33Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.

34Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.

35Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.

36Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.

37Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.

Carefully Consider Every Move

Carefully Consider Every Move

Let everyone take time to consider carefully; and not be like the man in the parable who began to build, and was not able to finish. Not a move should be made but that movement and all that it portends are carefully considered--everything weighed. . . . To every man was given his work according to his several ability. Then let him not move hesitatingly, but firmly, and yet humbly trusting in God. {2SM 362.1}

There may be individuals who will make a rush to do something, and enter into some business they know nothing about. This God does not require. Think candidly, prayerfully, studying the Word with all carefulness and prayerfulness, with mind and heart awake to hear the voice of God. . . . To understand the will of God is a great thing. . . . {2SM 362.2}

I address words to the church at Battle Creek, to move in the counsels of God. There is need of your moving--many from Battle Creek--and there is also need of your having well-defined plans as to what you will do when you go out from Battle Creek. Do not go in a rush, without knowing what you are about. . . . O for generals, wise and considerate, well-balanced men, who will be safe advisers, who have some insight into human nature, who know how to direct and counsel in the fear of God. {2SM 362.3}

Jesuits and the Hippie Movement

Jesuit Reverend Richard McSorley.

Author: Professor Walter J. Veith, PhD
Summary: The main goal of
the Jesuit order is to counter Protestantism. One way this was accomplished in the 20th century was the hippie movement.

This article is part of a series. We recommend that you first read:
The Jesuits, Protestantism Destroyed.

The hippie movement was led by Jesuits such as Father Richard McSorley of Georgetown University (1914-2002). McSorley was known as a peace activist and even "Marxist priest." He was a trusted adviser and tutor to the Kennedy presidential family,iand was also associated with Bill Clinton, who studied at Georgetown in the early 1960s.

In an interview with Rick Martin of SPECTRUM magazine, one controversial author and talk-show host claims that "the Beatles were Jesuit-controlled" and that the drug world is controlled by Rome via the Mafia—which is Jesuit controlled.ii Sir George Martin, the Beatles' producer, attended a Jesuit college.

This hippie movement twisted the true understanding of Christ. Instead of God and Saviour, Jesus was seen as a political activist. It was taught that Jesus fulfilled the needs of all cultures, creeds, and aspirations—Christian or not. This new culture—rife with drugs, fictional entertainment, and rock music—effectively distracted Protestants around the world from true spirituality, which was exactly what the Jesuits were striving to do.

New Age theology and Earth-worship also spread in this era, partially through the work of scientist James Lovelock and his Gaia hypothesis.

Today, powerful organizations such as Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Global Recycling Network, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service continue what was started in the 1960s, worshiping the earth as a something more important than human life.iii All of these initiatives are a disguise for papal domination.

Wars, Rumors Of Wars, Skyrocketing Oil Prices And Global Economic Chaos – Why Is All Of This Happening?

Did anyone out there anticipate that 2011 would be such a wild year? The year is barely over two months old and we have already seen multiple civil wars erupt, rumors of more wars all over the mainstream media (potentially even including the United States), riots and revolutions breaking out all over the globe, oil prices soaring into the stratosphere and chaos on global financial markets. So why is all of this happening? Is all of this one big coincidence or is there a reason why we are witnessing such global chaos right now? Is it just coincidence that revolutions have broken out in over a dozen countries in the Middle East all at the same time? Is it just a coincidence that global prices for oil, food and precious metals are all skyrocketing? Is it just a coincidence that world financial markets suddenly seem more vulnerable than at any time since 2008? Looking at what is going on in the world right now, it is very tempting to use the phrase "a perfect storm" to describe it. Unfortunately, this "perfect storm" is very likely to plunge the global economy into yet another financial collapse if it continues to get even worse.

After decades of relative stability, the Middle East has erupted in chaos in 2011. In the post-World War 2 era, we have never seen a time when there have been so many major internal revolutions all at once. All of these simultaneous revolutions are driving the price of oil rapidly upwards.

The price of West Texas crude is now over $102 a barrel and the price of Brent crude is now over $116 a barrel and if the chaos in the Middle East continues those numbers are likely to go a lot higher.

Meanwhile, gold has set a new all-time record this week and the price of silver is absolutely exploding.

In fact, just about every kind of "hard asset" that you can possibly name is going up in price. Investors don't like all of this instability and they are looking for safe places to put their money.

Unfortunately, the global situation looks like it may become even more heated.

The calls for military action against Libya are rapidly reaching a crescendo.

The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a resolution calling for the UN Security Council to impose a no-fly zone over Libya, and many members of Congress are openly declaring that the U.S. and NATO should take unilateral action no matter what the UN ultimately decides.

But implementing a no-fly zone is not a simple thing. It is not just a matter of telling Libya not to fly their planes. Rather, imposing a no-fly zone over Libya would constitute a major military operation.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is even admitting that enforcing a no-fly zone over Libya would begin with a huge military strike.....

"Let's just call a spade a spade. A no-fly zone begins with an attack on Libya to destroy the air defenses ... and then you can fly planes around the country and not worry about our guys being shot down."
U.S. commander General James Mattis made a similar comment on Tuesday....

You would have to remove the air defense capability in order to establish the no-fly zone so it - no illusions here, it would be a military operation.
Essentially, imposing a no-fly zone over Libya would be an act of war.

Most of our representatives in Washington D.C. seem to be quite ready to go to war in Libya, but it is another story entirely when it comes to the American people. A recent Rasmussen poll found that a whopping 67 percent of Americans do not want the U.S. to get more involved in the unrest going on in Arab countries and only 17 percent of Americans do want the U.S. to get more directly involved.

But the American people don't get to decide whether we go to war or not. Our leaders in Washington D.C. do. The USS Enterprise and other major warships are on their way to Libya, and U.S. forces throughout the Mediterranean are on high alert.

So could the U.S. really get involved in another war in the Middle East?

Well, if the U.S. and NATO choose to get involved they will do it without the approval of the rest of the world.

On Wednesday, the Arab League issued a statement which specifically rejected "any foreign interference within Libya on behalf of the opposition".

Not only that, but any military action by the UN will most likely be blocked by both China and Russia.

Russia's ambassador to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, says that any military action against Libya without UN approval would be a violation of international law....

"If someone in Washington is seeking a blitzkrieg in Libya, it is a serious mistake because any use of military force outside the NATO responsibility zone will be considered a violation of international law."
But Libya is far from the only crisis point in the Middle East.

In fact, a much larger problem may be brewing in Saudi Arabia.

On Facebook, a "Day of Rage" is being hyped for March 11th. Other dates being promoted for "revolution" in Saudi Arabia include March 20th and March 21st.

But if Saudi Arabia sees the same kind of chaos that we have seen in other countries in the Middle East there is no telling how high the price of oil could go.

Could we see $125 oil?

Could we see $150 oil?

Could we see $200 oil?

Saudi Arabia exports more oil than anyone else in the world, so if their oil production gets interrupted it is going to have a dramatic impact on the global economy.

For example, are you ready to pay 5 dollars for a gallon of gasoline in the United States?

For decades, the entire globe has been blessed with very cheap oil and this has resulted in a massive economic boom.

But times are changing.

The economic situation over in Europe is already deteriorating and any additional bad news could plunge that entire continent into a major crisis. A recently released report from Ernst & Young is warning that if oil goes up to 150 dollars a barrel and it stays there, "at least" one eurozone country will default and the entire eurozone will be plunged back into recession.

A much higher price for oil would obviously not be good for the U.S. economy either. Do you remember what happened back in 2008? The price of oil hit a record high in June and then the entire financial system came unglued just a few months later.

But if we see a repeat of 2008 it may be a lot worse this time because the global financial system is now more unstable than ever.

The truth is that the entire world is still trying to recover from the last financial crisis. The Federal Reserve is pumping massive quantities of dollars into the U.S. economy in an attempt to stimulate it back to life, but so far it is not working too well.

The rest of the world does not appreciate all of this "money printing" and the inflation that this is causing is beginning to create massive imbalances on global financial markets.

The world is starting to lose faith in the U.S. dollar. Right now, approximately 85% of all foreign-exchange transactions in the world involve the U.S. dollar. Not only that, 60% of all the currency reserves in the world are in U.S. dollars. With the U.S. dollar rapidly becoming less stable, many are now wondering if it should continue to be used as the reserve currency of the world.

The truth is that if the U.S. dollar falls, it is going to create a tremendous amount of financial chaos in almost every nation on the globe.

Unfortunately, as I have written about so many times previously, the U.S. economy is dying. The U.S. government is absolutely drowning in debt, and leaders all over the planet are calling for the establishment of a new global reserve currency.

The days of the United States being the "economic engine of the planet" are rapidly coming to an end.

The U.S. economy is not ever going to fully "recover". In fact, the U.S. economy is basically "running on empty" at this point as Gerald Celente recently noted during an interview on RT television....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhoDLqwjzpY&feature=player_embedded

The entire U.S. economy was designed to operate on massive amounts of very cheap oil. Americans do more driving than anyone else in the world. Many of us are so lazy that we won't even walk to a store if it is on the other side of the parking lot.

If oil hits record levels in 2011, it is going to be a massive shock to the U.S. economic system. Any hopes for an "economic recovery" will be completely dashed.

In fact, if one wanted to "take down" the U.S. economy, driving up the price of oil would be a perfect way to do it.

And if one wanted to drive up the price of oil, a perfect way to do that would be to create all kinds of chaos in the Middle East.

So is all of this craziness that we are seeing in 2011 just a big coincidence or is there a reason why all of this is happening?

Be Strong, Fear not...

Isaiah 35

1The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

2It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

3Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

6Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

7And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

8And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

9No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:

10And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Assassin Sirhan Sirhan says he can't remember shooting RFK

LINDA DEUTSCH • AP Special Correspondent • February 28, 2011

This Oct. 29, 2009 photo from the California Department of Corrections shows Sirhan Sirhan, convicted of the murder of presidential candidate Sen. Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. More than four decades after Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated, Sirhan wants to go free for a crime he says he can’t remember. (AP)

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- More than four decades after Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated, his convicted murderer wants to go free for a crime he says he can't remember.

It is not old age or some memory-snatching disease that has erased an act Sirhan Bishara Sirhan once said he committed "with 20 years of malice aforethought." It's been this way almost from the beginning. Hypnotists and psychologists, lawyers and investigators have tried to jog his memory with no useful result.

Now a new lawyer is on the case and he says his efforts have also failed.

"There is no doubt he does not remember the critical events," said William F. Pepper, the attorney who will argue for Sirhan's parole Wednesday. "He is not feigning it. It's not an act. He does not remember it."

Sirhan may not remember much about the night of June 4, 1968, but the world remembers.
They have heard how Sirhan was grabbed as he emptied a pistol in the crowded kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel here where Kennedy stood moments after claiming victory in the California presidential primary. They heard how he kept firing even as his hand was pinned to a table. They heard how Kennedy, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was shot and died, changing the course of American history.

Parole Board members are bound to review those facts, but they won't consider the many conspiracy theories floated over the years.

Pepper, a New York-based lawyer who also is a British barrister, is the latest advocate of a second gunman theory. Believers claim 13 shots were fired while Sirhan's gun held only eight bullets and that the fatal shot appeared to come from behind Kennedy while Sirhan faced him.
Pepper also suggests Sirhan was "hypno-programmed," turning him into a virtual "Manchurian Candidate," acting robot-like at the behest of evil forces who then wiped his memory clean. It's the stuff of science fiction and Hollywood movies, but some believe it is the key.
How Pepper plans to use any of this to his client's advantage remains to be seen because it will have little bearing on the decision of the panel that must determine if Sirhan is suitable for parole. The board is not being asked to retry the case and lawyers may not present evidence relating to guilt or innocence.

The King's Speech

No, this is not about the silly movie about a British King with a lisp. It's rather about a man who thinks he is king, and is governing with the prerogatives of a decadent monarch.

While the President and his Secretary of State call for Mubarack of Egypt, and now also Kaddafi of Lybia to step down; Mr. Obama and his administration carry on in a despotic manner as if they are above reproach. Bulls and Edicts are soon to follow since the apparent change to the use of Cannon Law

Last week, President Obama shocked the nation, but didn't surprise me at all, by stating that he would no longer uphold the Defense of Marriage Act, and has advised Attorney General Eric Holder to follow suit.

Obama administration will no longer defend DOMA

Jay Carney* (new White House Press Secretary):
The decision is that we will -- the administration will not defend the Defense of Marriage Act in the Second Circuit. Furthermore, the President directed the Attorney General not to defend, because of the decision that it’s not constitutional, defend the Defense of Marriage Act in any other circuit, in any other case.

Here are my concerns:

While the nation is experiencing a financial crisis (despite the ever present propaganda that we're in the midst of recovery) with unemployment on the record at 9%, and well over 18% on the ground;

  1. When the national deficit is rapidly approaching $14,200,000,000,000 http://www.usdebtclock.org/ ;
  2. When the government is operating without a budget and is facing a possible shut-down;
  3. When 4 Americans were kidnapped and killed by Somali 'PIRATES';
  4. When 4 Police Officers have recently been killed in Florida, three of which were in St. Petersburgh within the last 30 days;
  5. While inflation is affecting the price of all consumer goods;
  6. While there is a disruption of Law and Order in the capital of Wisconsin;
  7. While Wisconsin Democrat State Senators are hiding, failing to report to duty, and teachers are playing hooky from school;
  8. And there are crowds chanting in the streets of cities: If they did it in Egypt, we can do it here too!

Mr. Obama decides it's time to meet in private with Democrat Governors in Washington;

What planet are we living on, here? Futurama?

Do we have government by decree in the land of the free? Are we a monarchy in the midst of all this anarchy?

Isn't this reminiscent of the famous line attributed to Queen Marie Antoinette:
"Let them eat cake"?

On another note, this is like a sick Hegelian Dialectic Bowling game - Bill Clinton sets them up, then Obama knocks them down:

Don't ask Don't Tell - Bill Clinton, January, 1993 - Obama, January 2011.

Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) Bill Clinton, 1996 - Obama , February 2011.

So far the only observable exception to this peculiar Clinton-Obama symbiotic relationship is the HEALTH CARE OVERHAUL.

Bill Clinton (Hillary Rodham) attempted passing Health Care Reform during his tenure; But, Obama slam dunked it like a Harlem Globetrotter in 2010, with smoke and mirrors.

A Safe Refuge

Behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Isa. 26:21.

There is coming rapidly and surely an almost universal guilt upon the inhabitants of the cities, because of the steady increase of determined wickedness. The corruption that prevails, is beyond the power of the human pen to describe. Every day brings fresh revelations of strife, bribery, and fraud; every day brings its heart-sickening record of violence and lawlessness, of indifference to human suffering, of brutal, fiendish destruction of human life. . . {Mar 67.1}

Our God is a God of mercy. With long-sufferance and tender compassion He deals with the transgressors of His law. . . . The Lord bears long with men, and with cities, mercifully giving warnings to save them from divine wrath; but a time will come when pleadings for mercy will no longer be heard. . . {Mar 67.2}

The conditions prevailing in society, and especially in the great cities of the nations, proclaim in thunder tones that the hour of God's judgment is come and that the end of all things earthly is at hand. We are standing on the threshold of the crisis of the ages. In quick succession the judgments of God will follow one another--fire, and flood, and earthquake, with war and bloodshed. . . {Mar 67.3}

The storm of God's wrath is gathering; and those only will stand who respond to the invitations of mercy, . . . and become sanctified through obedience to the laws of the divine Ruler. The righteous alone will be hid with Christ in God till the desolation be overpast. Let the language of the soul be:

"Other refuge have I none;
Hangs my helpless soul on Thee;
Leave, Oh leave me not alone!
Still support and comfort me.

"Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide;
Oh, receive my soul at last!"

A New Economic Order

We have learned that the Jesuits are in control of the following secret societies and more:

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

Scottish-Rite Shriner Freemasonry

The Order of the Illuminati

The Knights of Columbus

The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan

B'nai B'rith

The Nation of Islam and its private army called "The Fruit of Islam"

The Mafia Commission

Opus Dei along with a host of lesser Brotherhoods.......

NOTE: And we have already learned that these secret societies are dedicated to establish a One World Order for the Pope. Now if the Pope is at the head, that means that these societies are going to push the Popes agenda. What is the Popes economic agenda?

Do you remember what the Hegelian Principle was? ,The Hegelian Principle was formulated by George Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, German philosopher. It is a process intended to produce Oneness of Mind through a process of 1) thesis: embodying a particular view or position; 2) antithesis: providing an opposing or contrary position; and 3) synthesis: which reconciles the two previous positions and then becomes the basis of a new thesis…in accordance with the laws of dialectical materialism (Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary). In theory, through a continual process of evolution, Oneness of Mind is achieved. This process can also be used to 1) create crisis, 2) opposition to crisis, to 3) effect the wanted solution.
Communism ( Thesis) took property away and made it the states property. Capitalism (Antithesis) says that the property belongs to the individual and nobody can take it away. Now we must have a Synthesis. This Synthesis is going to be some were in the middle and will be in the name of fairness.

The Economic Thought of the Catholic Church
Quote: ...Thomas Aquinas, wrote no treatise on economics, but his thinking, based on that of Aristotle, is foundational for understanding the economic thought of the Roman Catholic Church-State.
Henry William Spiegel, The Growth of Economic Thought. 1983, p 57.

Thomas also said:

Quote: Roman Catholic economic thought, as developed by the popes in their encyclicals and by Roman Church-State councils, has been a contributer to.......
1.) Feudalism and guild socialism in Europe during the Middle Ages;

2.) fasscism in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, and Latin America in the twentieth century;

3.) Nazism in German in the twentieth century;

4.) interventionism and the redistributive state in the west, including the United States in the twentieth century; and

5.) liberation theology in Latin America and Africa in the twentieth century.

......Thomas Aquinas discussion of private property. P. 30

....the possession of all things in common is the natural law. Thomas wrote: "...'the possession of all thimgs in common and universal freedom' are said to be the natural law because, to wit, the distinction of possessions and slavery were not brought in by nature, but devised by human reason for the benefit of human life."

Summa Theologiae. ii-ii, 5th artical.

NOTE: What does this mean? That all property is for common good.

Community of Goods
Quote:

The community of goods, wrote Thomas, is ascribed the natural law, not that the natural law dictates that all things should be possessed in common and that nothing should be possessed as one's own, but because the division of possessions is not according to natural law, but rather arose from human agreement, which belongs to positive law... Hence the ownership of possessions is not contraryto natural law, but an addition thereto devised by human reason.

Summa Theologiae. ii-ii, 2nd artical.

Thomas wrote:

...Hence, whatever certain people have in superabundance is due, by natural law, to the purpose of succoring the poor.

Summa Theologiae. ii-ii, 7th artical.

NOTE: He is saying that yes you can have material possessions, but what ever you have in abundance must be given to the poor. Ok lets read on.

Because goods of some are due to others by the natural law, there is no sin if the poor take the goods of their neighbors. Thomas wrote: "In case of need, all things are common property, so that there would seem to be no sin in taking another's property, for need has made it common."

Summa Theologiae. ii-ii, 7th artical.

NOTE: Wait isn't this stealing

Not only is such taking of another's property not a sin, it is not even a crime, according to Thomas:

..........it is lawful for a man to succor his own need by means of another's property by taking it either openly or secretly; nor is this, properly speaking, theft and robbery....It is not theft, properly speaking, to take secretly and use another's property in case of extreme need: because that which he takes for the support of his life becomes his own property by reson of that need...In a case of a like need man may also take secretly another's property in order to succor his neighbor in need.

Summa Theologiae. ii-ii, 7th artical.

NOTE: Wow, so if your neighbor needs a tv or car and you have three he can come take one. Or if you have a 4 bedroom house and your not using one he can break in and live there and you can't kick him or her out. Why? Because the man had a need and the need made it common. InAfrica this a law, but it is not being implamented because the situation is not right. But what if you open the borders and allow millions of poor people who have a "need" to enter. We need to wake up America.

Need!

Quote: The Roman Catholic doctrine of private property is echoed in the nineteenth century Communist slogan, "From each according to his ability; to each according to his need."
The Universal Destination of Goods
John Paul II's expression of it in his 1987 encyclical On Social Conern:

It is nessessary to state once more the characteristic principle of Christian social doctrine: the goods of the world are originally meant for all. The right to private property is valid and necessary, but it does not nullify the value of this principle. Private property, in fact, is under a "social mortgage," which means that it has an intrinsically social function, based upon and justified precisely by the principle of universal destination of goods.

John Paul II, Sollicitudo Rei Socialis, On Social Concern, (1987), 42.

NOTE: Yes the Pope is saying that private property is valid, but it is void in the concern of need. So if you are growing fruit on your private property and some one with a need (hunger) come and steals your fruit you cant do anything about it.

Paul VI made the point quite clear in his 1967 encyclical On the Progress of People:

....each man has therefor a right to find in the world what is necessary for himself. The recent Council [Vatican II] reminded us of this: "God intended the earth and all that it contains for the use of every human being and people. Thus, as all men follow justice and unite in charity, created goods should abound for them on a resonable basis." All other rights whatsoever, including those of property and of free commerce are to be subordinated to this principle.

Paul VI, Populorum Progressio, On the Progress of People, (1967), p 22.

Gandium et Spes, the Vatican II Constitution that John Paul II quoted, explained at greater length:

....If one is in extreme necessity he has the right to procure for himself what he needs out of the riches of others. Since there are so many people prostrate with hunger in the world, this Sacred Council urges all, both individuals and governments, to remember the aphorism of the Fathers, "Feed the man dying of hunger, because if you have not fed him, you have killed him.

The second Vatican Council, Gaudium et Spes, Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World (1965), 69

Therefor because private property is immoral, all men - individuals and governments - have the moral obligation to redistribute goods held unjustly by property owners

p.40

Redistribution of Goods
Quote:

..."all goods" includes not just the goods found in nature but manufactured goods as well. John Paul II declared that all men must have "...access to those goods which are intended for common use: both the goods of nature and manufactured goods."

John Paul II, Laborem Exercens (1981), 46.

Who is pushing the Pope's agenda for redistribution?
