Will The Next Pope Be The Last? - Prophecy News Watch
(Paperback Book)
By Thomas Horn & Chris Putnam
Pope Benedict has turned 85 and is increasingly showing signs of frailty and fatigue. These observations have prompted speculation over whether he will be the first pontiff in seven centuries to resign. He is the only pope in living memory to discuss publicly the possibility of resignation and has recently said he recognizes he is now in 'last stretch' of his life'. Benedict is now the oldest reigning pope since Leo XIII, who died aged 93 in 1903.
For more than 800 hundred years scholars have pointed to the dark augury having to do with "the last Pope." The prophecy, taken from St. Malachy's "Prophecy of the Popes," is among a list of verses predicting each of the Roman Catholic popes from Pope Celestine II to the final pope, "Peter the Roman," whose reign would end in the destruction of Rome. First published in 1595, the prophecies were attributed to St. Malachy by a Benedictine historian named Arnold de Wyon, who recorded them in his book, Lignum Vitæ.
Tradition holds that Malachy had been called to Rome by Pope Innocent II, and while there, he experienced the vision of the future popes, including the last one, which he wrote down in a series of cryptic phrases. According to the prophecy, the next pope (following Benedict XVI) is the final pontiff, Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman.
The idea by some Catholics that the next pope on St. Malachy's list heralds the beginning of "great apostasy" followed by "great tribulation" sets the stage for the imminent unfolding of apocalyptic events, something many non-Catholics agree with. This will give rise to the false prophet, who according to the book of Revelation leads the world's religious communities into embracing a political leader known as Antichrist.
Throughout history, many Catholic priests—some deceased now—have been surprisingly outspoken on what they have seen as this inevitable danger rising from within the ranks of Catholicism as a result of secret satanic "Illuminati-Masonic" influences. These priests claim secret knowledge of an multinational power elite and occult hierarchy operating behind supranatural and global political machinations. Among this secret society are sinister false Catholic infiltrators who understand that, as the Roman Catholic Church represents one-sixth of the world's population and over half of all Christians, it is indispensable for controlling future global elements in matters of church and state and the fulfillment of a diabolical plan called "Alta Vendita," which assumes control of the papacy and helps the False Prophet deceive the world's faithful (including Catholics) into worshipping Antichrist.
As stated by Dr. Michael Lake on the front cover of this unprecedented report, Catholic and evangelical scholars have dreaded this moment for centuries. Unfortunately - as you will discover in the next 90 days - time for avoiding Peter the Roman just ran out.

Note: When addressing issues that address extra Biblical subjects such as 2012 and the Prophecy of The Popes we believe it is important to proceed cautiously. We have a great deal of respect for Tom Horn and Chris Putnam and believe they have done an excellent job of addressing this subject in bringing a Biblical perspective to this very intriguing and controversial area of study that is sure to interest any student of Bible Prophecy.

Pakistani passenger jet with 127 on board crashes
By ZARAR KHAN, Associated Press – 5 minutes ago
ISLAMABAD (AP) — A Pakistani passenger jet with 127 people on board crashed into wheat fields Friday as it was trying to land in bad weather at an airport near the capital, Islamabad, officials said. Sobbing relatives of those on the flight flocked to the airport as a government minister expressed little hope of finding survivors.
Emergency workers and bystanders used flashlights to search among smoldering wreckage and body parts for any sign of life at the crash site, which was just a few kilometers (miles) away from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The aircraft was a Boeing 737-200 operated by Bhoja Air, a domestic carrier that has just four planes and only resumed operations last month after suspending them in 2001 due to financial difficulties. The flight was traveling from the country's largest city of Karachi to the Pakistani capital, officials said.
Relatives of those on the flight thronged Bhoja Air counters at Karachi and Islamabad airports, crying.
One man said on television that two of the passengers, Sajjad Rizvi and Sania Abbas, were newlyweds flying to Islamabad for their honeymoon.
Defense Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhar said civil aviation officials had reported it was unlikely anybody had survived.
It was unclear if any casualties occurred on the ground, but the crash happened in what appeared to be a relatively unpopulated rural area.
A violent rain and wind storm was lashing parts of the capital around the same time as the crash, which occurred about 6:40 p.m.
"The plane crashed a few hundred yards (meters) away," said Mohammad Zubair, who was threshing wheat. "The flames leapt up like they were touching the sky."
TV footage showed wreckage of the plane, including parts of what looked like its engine and wing, up against the wall of a small building. Rescue officials were working in the dark, with many using flashlights as they combed the area.
The last major plane crash in the country — and Pakistan's worst ever — occurred in July 2010 when an Airbus A321 aircraft operated by Airblue crashed in the hills overlooking Islamabad, killing all 152 people on board.
A government investigation blamed the pilot for veering off course amid stormy weather. The impact of the crash was devastating, scorching a wide swath of the hillside and scattering wreckage over a kilometer (half-mile) stretch. Most bodies were so badly damaged that identification will require DNA testing.
Bhoja Air started domestic operations in Pakistan in 1993 and eventually expanded to international flights to the United Arab Emirates in 1998. The company suspended operations in 2001 due to financial difficulties but resumed them in 2012.
A Character the World will Recognize
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world. Phil. 2:15.It is God's purpose to manifest through His people the principles of His kingdom. That in life and character they may reveal these principles, He desires to separate them from the customs, habits, and practices of the world. . . . By beholding the goodness, the mercy, the justice, and the love of God revealed in His church, the world is to have a representation of His character. And when the law of God is thus exemplified in the life, even the world will recognize the superiority of those who love and fear and serve God above every other people in the world.
Seventh-day Adventists, above all people, should be patterns of piety, holy in heart and in conversation. To them have been entrusted the most solemn truths ever committed to mortals. Every endowment of grace and power and efficiency has been liberally provided. They look for the near return of Christ in the clouds of heaven. For them to give to the world the impression that their faith is not a dominating power in their lives is greatly to dishonor God.
Because of the increasing power of Satan's temptations, the times in which we live are full of peril for the children of God, and we need to learn constantly of the Great Teacher, that we may take every step in surety and righteousness. Wonderful scenes are opening before us; and at this time a living testimony is to be borne in the lives of God's professed people, so that the world may see that in this age, when evil reigns on every side, there is yet a people who are laying aside their will and are seeking to do God's will--a people in whose hearts and lives God's law is written. . . .
Their thoughts are to be pure, their words noble and uplifting. The religion of Christ is to be interwoven with all that they do and say. They are to be a sanctified, purified, holy people, communicating light to all with whom they come in contact. It is His purpose that by exemplifying the truth in their lives, they shall be a praise in the earth. The grace of Christ is sufficient to bring this about.

Secret Service Calls Nugent Over Anti-Obama Screed
Wednesday, 18 Apr 2012 04:45 PM
Rocker and gun rights champion Ted Nugent says he will meet with the Secret Service on Thursday to explain his raucous remarks about what he called Barack Obama's "evil, America-hating administration" — comments some critics interpreted as a threat against the president.
"The conclusion will be obvious that I threatened no one," Nugent told radio interviewer Glenn Beck on Wednesday. Nugent said he'd been contacted by the agency and would cooperate fully even though he found the complaints "silly."
The controversy erupted after the self-styled "Motor City Madman" made an impassioned plea for support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney during the National Rifle Association meeting in St. Louis last weekend. "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November," Nugent said of the Obama administration.
He also included a cryptic pronouncement: "If Barack Obama becomes the next president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."
Outraged Democrats circulated the remarks and suggested they were threatening. Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie confirmed that the agency was looking into the matter but declined to give details. "We are aware of the incident and we are taking appropriate follow-up," Ogilvie said.
Nugent said he was simply trying to galvanize voters. The hard rocker, best known for '70s hits like "Cat Scratch Fever," is a conservative activist and has a history of heated and sometimes vulgar criticism of Obama. Nugent endorsed Romney after speaking to him last month.
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz called on Romney to "condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric."
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul addressed the issue with a brief statement: "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from. Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil."

Pilgrimage to the crosses
7th April 2012 4:00 AM

Easter worshippers gather near the crosses at Coleyville after the Good Friday service.
ABOUT 700 adults and children from many different churches worshipped together at the traditional Crosses on the Hill service at Coleyville yesterday.
The Combined Churches Good Friday committee chairman Bill Catlow said the 15th annual Easter event had been "tremendous".
"This service is breaking down the barriers of denominations. It's a special day in the Christian calendar," Mr Catlow said.
"Every year we're increasing in people. Our family is growing.
"On the committee we've got the Lutheran church, the Church of Christ, Baptist, Seventh Day Adventist and I'm a Congregationalist.
"We had people at the service from the Roman Catholic church.
"The men's choir from the Brassall Congregational Church were tremendous."
Harrisville Adventist Church member Loretta Uprichard has attended the Coleyville service for the past three or four years.
"It's different from a lot of services," she said. "It's out in the country, and has a view.
"The day was beautiful with a breeze blowing through the tent."
Guest speaker at the Crosses on the Hill, Dr Gordon Moyes, will address the topic Finding a Central Reference Point at Harrisville School of Arts, Queen St, at an Easter Saturday breakfast today from 7am.
He will also speak on Easter Sunday at 6.30pm at the Congregational Church, Jellicoe St, Brassall.

Pope Benedict quietly celebrates 85th birthday
April 16, 2012
Pope Benedict XVI celebrated his 85th birthday quietly on April 16, with a Mass of thanksgiving and a reception for bishops and pilgrims from his native Bavaria.
"I am facing the final leg of my life's path and I don't know what's ahead," the Pontiff said during his homily. Before the Mass, which was concelebrated by many of the prelates at the Vatican, Cardinal Angelo Sodano had congratulated the Pope. Speaking on behalf of the College of Cardinals, of which he is the dean, Cardinal Sodano said: “Holy "Holy Father, may the Lord continue to remain at your side.” Msgr. Georg Ratzinger, the Pope’s older brother, was visiting during the weekend and joined in the birthday festivities. During the day the Pope met with a group from Bavaria, who entertained him with singing and dancing.
The landmark birthday, along with the fact that Pope Benedict is now among the oldest men to serve as Roman Pontiff in recorded history, has sparked a new round of speculative stories about the possibility that he might resign. But although his age often shows--in frequent fatigue and in an increasingly stiff gait, which requires him to use a cane occasionally--Pope Benedict has given no indication that he is having difficulty carrying out his duties, or that he is considering retirement. In fact, at a public audience on the day before his birthday he asked the faithful to "pray for me, that the Lord may give me the strength to carry out the mission with which He has entrusted me.”
The Pope’s birthday was observed as a holiday at the Vatican. Later this week, on April 19, the Vatican will celebrate another special holiday: the 7th anniversary of the Pope’s election.

Hillary Clinton Parties at Cuban-Themed Bar, Sparks Dumbest Scandal Ever
By Tim Elfrink Mon., Apr. 16 2012 at 9:03 AM

Forget about the Secret Service agents and their Colombian hookers. Ozzie Guillen praising Fidel Castro? Old news. The raging hot scandal this morning, according more than 100 articles on Google News at last count, is that Hillary Clinton spent last night in Cartagena dancing and drinking beer at a "Cuban-themed" bar named -- gasp! -- Club Havana!
OMG! What are the implications for U.S.-Cuba relations? Did Hillz send Fidel drunken, badass texts about her night dancing to his homeland's music?
In the long, tedious annals of cooked up Cuban-American scandals, can we all agree this is one of the dumbest?
Hillary Clinton didn't secretly jet to Cuba to party like James Bond. She didn't pen discreet love letters to Raul. She didn't even tell the world she "respected" Fidel for not getting killed, like a certain Miami baseball manager.
All she did was drink a couple Aguilas and dance to some salsa with her staff in a Colombian bar called "Club Havana." Like a lot of Cuban-themed bars, the place is more an ode to pre-revolutionary Havana's swinging heyday than a pro-Castro hangout for Che fans.
Her reward is headlines like this gem in the New York Post: "Hillary Havana Heck of Good Time." What does that even mean?
The Post even goes so far as to ask Hillary's spokesman about "the implications of America's top diplomat partying at a Cuban-themed hotspot;" the poor flak declined to answer, presumably while searching for a gun to blow his brains out.
We can't wait for the Vigilia Mambisa protest over this one.

The Testimony the World Needs

April 16
You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on your hearts, to be known and read by all men. 2 Corinthians 3:2, R.S.V.
Transformation of character is to be the testimony to the world of the indwelling love of Christ. The Lord expects His people to show that the redeeming power of grace can work upon the faulty character and cause it to develop in symmetry and abundant fruitfulness.
But in order for us to fulfill God’s purpose, there is a preparatory work to be done. The Lord bids us empty our hearts of the selfishness which is the root of alienation. He longs to pour upon us His Holy Spirit in rich measure, and He bids us clear the way by self-renunciation. When self is surrendered to God, our eyes will be opened to see the stumbling stones which our un-Christlikeness has placed in the way of others. All these God bids us remove. He says: “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.” James 5:16. Then we may have the assurance that David had when, after confession of his sin, he prayed: “Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.” Psalm 51:12, 13.
When the grace of God reigns within, the soul will be surrounded with an atmosphere of faith and courage and Christlike love, an atmosphere invigorating to the spiritual life of all who inhale it.... Everyone who is a partaker of Christ’s pardoning love, everyone who has been enlightened by the Spirit of God and converted to the truth, will feel that for these precious blessings he owes a debt to every soul with whom he comes in contact. Those who are humble in heart the Lord will use to reach souls whom the ordained ministers cannot approach. They will be moved to speak words which reveal the saving grace of Christ.
And in blessing others they will themselves be blessed. God gives us opportunity to impart grace, that He may refill us with increased grace. Hope and faith will strengthen as the agent for God works with the talents and facilities that God has provided. He will have a divine agency to work with him.

Titan and Titanic
Michael Patrao, April 13, 2012, DHNS
April 15 marks the 100th year of the sinking of the Titanic. Here’s an incredible story about two ships

RMS Titanic was a passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15, 1912, after colliding with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City.
The sinking of Titanic caused the deaths of 1,517 people in one of the worst maritime disasters in history. She was the largest ship afloat at the time of her maiden voyage. Although it is a hundred years since the ship sank and all the people associated with it have long gone, it has remained in the collective memory of people. By a strange co-incidence the tragedy of Titanic was described in detail 17 years before it occurred. It was a work of pure fiction!
In 1898, retired merchant navy officer Morgan Robertson wrote a novel ‘The Wreck of the Titan’, which uncannily predicted the Titanic disaster 17 years later.
Apart from the similarity in the names of the two ships, Robertson’s ‘Titan’ was also a huge, supposedly unsinkable British liner making its maiden voyage from the Southampton to New York with 3,000 passengers on board. It too struck an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank, with many people losing their lives because of the shortage of lifeboats.
The Titan and its sinking have been noted to be very similar to the real-life passenger ship RMS Titanic. The first half of the novella introduces the hero, John Rowland. Rowland is a disgraced former Royal Navy lieutenant, who is now a drunkard and has fallen to the lowest levels of society. Dismissed from the Navy, he is working as a deckhand on the Titan. The ship hits the iceberg, capsizing and sinking, somewhat before the halfway point of the novel.
The second half follows Rowland, as he saves the young daughter of a former friend by jumping onto the iceberg with her. After a number of adventures, in which he fights a polar bear and finds a lifeboat washed up on the iceberg, he is eventually rescued by a passing ship and, over several years, works his way up to a lucrative Government job, restoring his former income and position in society.
In the closing lines of the story he receives a message from his former friend, inviting him to visit her and her daughter.
Although the novel was written before the Olympic-class Titanic had even been designed, there are some remarkable similarities between the fictional and real-life counterparts.
Like the Titanic, the fictional ship sank in April in the North Atlantic, and there were not enough lifeboats for the passengers. There are also similarities between the size: 800 ft long (Titan) versus 882 ft 9 inches (Titanic), speed (25 knots for Titan, 21 knots for Titanic) and lack of life-saving equipment aboard both the ships.
The Titanic struck an iceberg on the starboard side on the night of April in the North Atlantic 400 miles away from Newfoundland. On an April night, in the North Atlantic 400 miles from Newfoundland (Terranova), the Titan hit an iceberg while traveling at 25 knots, also on the starboard side!
The unsinkable Titanic sank, and more than half of her 2,200 passengers died. The indestructible Titan also sank, more than half of her 2,500 passengers drowning!
Reel drama
‘Titanic’, the 1997 movie directed by James Cameron, is the most popular movie on the Titanic tragedy. However, it is not the first movie on the subject.
- ‘Saved from the Titanic’ was a 1912 silent motion picture short starring Dorothy Gibson, an actual survivor of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. She co-wrote the script and played a fictionalised version of herself recounting the story of her rescue to her (fictional) parents. To add to the film’s authenticity she wore the same clothes in which she had left Titanic, aboard the first lifeboat launched from the ship. It was the first film to be made about the disaster and opened in the United States just 29 days after the ship sank.
- ‘Titanic’ (1953): An American drama film directed by Jean Negulesco, its plot centres around an estranged couple sailing on the maiden voyage of the RMS Titanic.
- ‘A Night to Remember’ is a 1958 docudrama film adaptation of Walter Lord’s book ‘A Night to Remember’ (1955), recounting the final night of the RMS Titanic. The Titanic disaster is depicted in straightforward fashion. A DVD of this black-and-white movie is available for borrowing from the British Library in Bangalore.
- ‘The Legend of the Titanic’ is a 1999 animation film, directed by Orlando Corradi and Kim J Ok.
- The 2010 film ‘Titanic II’ takes place in 2012. A hundred years since the sinking of the Titanic, a new luxury cruise liner, Titanic II, is soon to embark on her maiden voyage, on the same route the Titanic took 100 years before. During the voyage, an iceberg comes onto her path and her crew must prevent her from suffering the fate of her predecessor.

Catholics urged to resist unjust laws, join in ‘fortnight for freedom’
April 12, 2012 12:28 pm

Nancy Frazier O'Brien
American Catholics must resist unjust laws “as a duty of citizenship and an obligation of faith,” a committee of the U.S. bishops said in a new statement on religious liberty.
Titled “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” the 12-page statement by the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty also calls for “a fortnight for freedom” from June 21, the vigil of the feasts of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, to July 4, U.S. Independence Day.
“This special period of prayer, study, catechesis and public action would emphasize both our Christian and American heritage of liberty,” the committee said. “Dioceses and parishes around the country could choose a date in that period for special events that would constitute a great national campaign of teaching and witness for religious liberty.”
Made public April 12, the document was approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Administrative Committee during its March meeting for publication as a committee statement.
The ad hoc committee opened its statement with several “concrete examples” of recent threats to religious liberty, saying that “this is not a theological or legal dispute without real-world consequences.”
Cited first was the Department of Health and Human Services’ mandate that most health plans must include contraception, sterilization and some abortion-inducing drugs free of charge, even if the employer is morally opposed to such services.
“In an unprecedented way, the federal government will both force religious institutions to facilitate and fund a product contrary to their own moral teaching and purport to define which religious institutions are ‘religious enough’ to merit protection of their religious liberty,” the statement said. “These features of the ‘preventive services’ mandate amount to an unjust law.”
Among other examples of “religious liberty under attack” the bishops named:
– Immigration laws in Alabama and other states that “forbid what the government deems ‘harboring’ of undocumented immigrants — and what the church deems Christian charity and pastoral care to those immigrants.”
– An attempt by the Connecticut Legislature in 2009 to restructure Catholic parishes.
– Discrimination against Christian students on college campuses.
– Government actions in Boston, San Francisco, the District of Columbia and the state of Illinois that have “driven local Catholic Charities out of the business of providing adoption or foster care services” because the agencies would not place children with same-sex or unmarried heterosexual couples.
– A New York City rule that bars small church congregations from renting public schools on weekends for worship services, while allowing such rentals by nonreligious groups.
– Changes in federal contracts for human trafficking grants that require Catholic agencies “to refer for contraceptive and abortion services in violation of Catholic teaching.”
The statement quotes the Founding Fathers and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to bolster its arguments.
Rev. King, writing from jail in Birmingham, Ala., in 1963, described an unjust law as one “that is out of harmony with the moral law,” and said he agreed with St. Augustine that “an unjust law is no law at all.”
“An unjust law cannot be obeyed,” the bishops’ statement said. “In the face of an unjust law, an accommodation is not to be sought, especially by resorting to equivocal words and deceptive practices.
“If we face today the prospect of unjust laws, then Catholics in America, in solidarity with our fellow citizens, must have the courage not to obey them,” it added. “No American desires this. No Catholic welcomes it. But if it should fall upon us, we must discharge it as a duty of citizenship and an obligation of faith.”
The bishops also distinguished between conscientious objection and an unjust law.
“Conscientious objection permits some relief to those who object to a just law for reasons of conscience — conscription being the most well-known example,” the committee said. “An unjust law is ‘no law at all.’ It cannot be obeyed, and therefore one does not seek relief from it, but rather its repeal.”
The statement also raised the issue of religious freedom abroad and said “the age of martyrdom has not passed.”
“Assassinations, bombings of churches, torching of orphanages — these are only the most violent attacks Christians have suffered because of their faith in Jesus Christ,” the bishops said. “It is our task to strengthen religious liberty at home, … so that we might defend it more vigorously abroad.”
The statement called on “American foreign policy, as well as the vast international network of Catholic agencies” to make “the promotion of religious liberty an ongoing and urgent priority.”
The bishops assigned special responsibility for advancing religious freedom to several groups:
– Those who hold public office must “protect and defend those fundamental liberties guaranteed by the Bill of Rights,” regardless of their political party.
– Leaders of Catholic hospitals, universities and social service agencies “who may be forced to choose between the good works we do by faith, and fidelity to that faith itself” were encouraged to “hold firm, to stand fast and to insist upon what belongs to you by right as Catholics and Americans.”
– Priests must offer “a catechesis on religious liberty suited to the souls in your care,” a responsibility that is shared with “writers, producers, artists, publishers, filmmakers and bloggers employing all the means of communications.”
In addition to the “fortnight for freedom” June 21 to July 4, the bishops designated the feast of Christ the King — Nov. 25 this year — as “a day specifically employed by bishops and priests to preach about religious liberty, both here and abroad.”

Sony straps on Internet-linked wristwatch
SmartWatch will sell for $150 (AFP/File, Lluis Gene)
(AFP) – 46 minutes ago
SAN FRANCISCO — Sony on Thursday released an Internet-linked wristwatch powered by Google-backed Android software.
SmartWatch gets online by connecting wirelessly to a wearer's Android smartphone using Bluetooth technology, according to Sony.
The high-tech timepiece reminiscent of one worn by classic comic strip detective Dick Tracy was priced at $150, available online and at Sony stores.
"SmartWatch provides access to live content and entertainment on the go," said Sony Mobile Communications customer unit president Paul Hamnett, who billed it as the first in a series of gadgets to "expand the smartphone's reach."
SmartWatch can switch from displaying time to acting as a touchscreen interface for smartphone information.
Vibrations or alerts flashed on the 1.3-inch (3.3-centimeter) screen can signal incoming calls and wearers can glance at their wrists to peruse email or text messages as well as Facebook or Twitter updates by friends.
Mini-applications tailored to add features to SmartWatch devices were available at the Google Play online shop, according to Sony.

CIA Chief: We’ll Spy on You Through Your Dishwasher
By Spencer Ackerman Author March 15, 2012 5:35 pm
More and more personal and household devices are connecting to the internet, from your television to your car navigation systems to your light switches. CIA Director David Petraeus cannot wait to spy on you through them.
Earlier this month, Petraeus mused about the emergence of an “Internet of Things” — that is, wired devices — at a summit for In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s venture capital firm. “‘Transformational’ is an overused word, but I do believe it properly applies to these technologies,” Petraeus enthused, “particularly to their effect on clandestine tradecraft.”
All those new online devices are a treasure trove of data if you’re a “person of interest” to the spy community. Once upon a time, spies had to place a bug in your chandelier to hear your conversation. With the rise of the “smart home,” you’d be sending tagged, geolocated data that a spy agency can intercept in real time when you use the lighting app on your phone to adjust your living room’s ambiance.
“Items of interest will be located, identified, monitored, and remotely controlled through technologies such as radio-frequency identification, sensor networks, tiny embedded servers, and energy harvesters — all connected to the next-generation internet using abundant, low-cost, and high-power computing,” Petraeus said, “the latter now going to cloud computing, in many areas greater and greater supercomputing, and, ultimately, heading to quantum computing.”
Petraeus allowed that these household spy devices “change our notions of secrecy” and prompt a rethink of “our notions of identity and secrecy.” All of which is true — if convenient for a CIA director.
The CIA has a lot of legal restrictions against spying on American citizens.
But collecting ambient geolocation data from devices is a grayer area, especially after the 2008 carve-outs to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Hardware manufacturers, it turns out, store a trove of geolocation data; and some legislators have grown alarmed at how easy it is for the government to track you through your phone or PlayStation.
That’s not the only data exploit intriguing Petraeus. He’s interested in creating new online identities for his undercover spies — and sweeping away the “digital footprints” of agents who suddenly need to vanish.
“Proud parents document the arrival and growth of their future CIA officer in all forms of social media that the world can access for decades to come,” Petraeus observed. “Moreover, we have to figure out how to create the digital footprint for new identities for some officers.”
It’s hard to argue with that. Online cache is not a spy’s friend. But Petraeus has an inadvertent pal in Facebook.
Why? With the arrival of Timeline, Facebook made it super-easy to backdate your online history. Barack Obama, for instance, hasn’t been on Facebook since his birth in 1961.
Creating new identities for CIA non-official cover operatives has arguably never been easier. Thank Zuck, spies. Thank Zuck.

Titanic 3D 2012 100th Anniversary
Uploaded by KohlerSAStudios on Nov 7, 2011
RMS Titanic was a passenger liner that struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, and sank on 15 April 1912, resulting in the deaths of 1,517 people in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.
The largest passenger steamship in the world at the time, the Olympic-class RMS Titanic was owned by the White Star Line and constructed at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, UK. After setting sail for New York City on 10 April 1912 with 2,223 people on board, she hit an iceberg four days into the crossing, at 11:40 pm on 14 April 1912, and sank at 2:20 am on the morning of 15 April. The high casualty rate resulting from the sinking was due in part to the fact that, although complying with the regulations of the time, the ship carried lifeboats for only 1,178 people. A disproportionate number of men died due to the "women and children first" protocol that was enforced by the ship's crew.
Titanic was designed by experienced engineers, using some of the most advanced technologies and extensive safety features of the time. The sinking of a passenger liner on her maiden voyage, the high loss of life and media frenzy over Titanic's famous victims, the legends about the sinking, the resulting changes in maritime law, and the discovery of the wreck have all contributed to the enduring interest in Titanic.

A Church Divided: Ruling Ends Va.'s Episcopal Battle

Tale Of Two Churches: The St. Stephen's Church in Heathsville, Va., has been at the center of an ugly custody battle between the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church and the newly affiliated St. Stephen's Anglican Church
April 10, 2012
On a bright Sunday morning in the tiny town of Heathsville, Va., Jeffrey Cerar surveys the church he's preached in for the past 15 years — its 130-year-old wooden pews, its stained glass windows, its paschal candles, its cross.
"Virtually everything you see here is going to stay; the high altar, the credence table, the hymnals and books of common prayer will all stay," he says. "The Bibles will go with us.
"Cerar, rector of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, is leaving, along with his congregation. They're handing the keys over to their theological rivals, the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Earlier this year, a judge ruled that seven conservative Virginia congregations that had split with the Episcopal Church must hand over almost everything they own. It's like the end of a marriage, with people moving out and splitting up assets — even its own long, ugly battle.

To Some Hindus, Modern Yoga Has Lost Its Way
April 11, 2012
About 20 million people in the United States practice some form of yoga, from the formal Iyengar and Ashtanga schools to the more irreverent "Yoga Butt."
But some Hindus say yoga is about far more than exercise and breathing techniques. They want recognition that it comes from a deeper philosophy — one, in their view, with Hindu roots.
Many forms of yoga go back centuries. Even in the U.S., the transcendentalists were doing yoga in the 1800s.
William Broad, a reporter for The New York Times and author of The Science of Yoga, has been practicing since 1970. He says people pursue yoga for all kinds of reasons, from achieving health and fitness to seeking spirituality, energy and creativity.
Yoga, Broad says, is an antidote for a chaotic world.
"You see a wild correlation between yoga studios and the most stressful places on the planet," like lower Manhattan or road-rage prone Los Angeles, Broad says.
That's because, he says, "yoga works — to unplug, to relax, to help tense urbanites deal with that tension," he says.
Reconciling Modern Views With An Ancient Practice
But some Hindus are taken aback by how so much of the yoga practiced in the United States emphasizes only the physical.
The holistic practice of yoga goes beyond just a couple of asanas on a mat.
- Sheetal Shah, senior director, Hindu American Foundation
One group, the Hindu American Foundation, has launched a "Take Back Yoga" campaign to address what they see as a fundamental disconnect between yoga and Hinduism.
Sheetal Shah, senior director at the foundation, says the group started the campaign when it noticed that while "Vedic," "tantric" and many other words appeared regularly in yoga magazines, the word "Hindu" was never mentioned.
So, the foundation called up one of the country's most popular magazines to ask why.
"They said the word 'Hinduism' has a lot of baggage," Shah says. "And we were like, 'Excuse me?' "
Shah says she understands why some people have a problem with linking yoga and Hinduism. Many American practitioners associate the practice with something pure and serene, she says. But when they think of Hinduism, she says, they think of "multiple gods, with multiple heads and multiple arms. Colorful [and] ritualistic."
It may be difficult for people to see how these things fit together, Shah says.
With the Take Back Yoga campaign, the Hindu American Foundation is hoping for broader acknowledgment that yoga has Hindu philosophical roots — while also emphasizing that it is universal and appropriate for everyone.
"What we're trying to say is that the holistic practice of yoga goes beyond just a couple of asanas [postures] on a mat. It is a lifestyle, and it's a philosophy," Shah says.
"How do you lead your life in terms of truthfulness? And nonviolence? And purity? The lifestyle aspect of yoga," Shah says, "has been lost."
Staying 'Accessible To All'
There's a huge scholarly debate about yoga's origins, but experts agree the practice dates back to a time before the term "Hindu" was even used to describe a spiritual tradition based on the Vedas, sacred texts that form the underpinnings of Hinduism — although Shah would argue that "Vedic" and "Hindu" are one and the same.
But author William Broad says Yoga was reinvented — and somewhat sanitized — in the 1920s and '30s. Some of the tantric and sexual aspects were removed, he says, and more health and exercise put in.
"There is no 'yoga,' " says Broad. "There are hundreds and thousands of things that are labeled yoga." Like laughter yoga, which Broad remembers practicing in Mumbai. He had a great time, he says, "but in truth, there is nothing yogic about laughter yoga."
Alison West has been teaching yoga since the 1980s. She says it's important that yoga be accessible to Jews, Christians, atheists and others who feel no affinity with Hindu spiritual traditions. All people, she says, should feel free to use yoga for personal satisfaction or emotional and mental awakening.
"The genius of yoga," she says, is that it's "accessible to all. It's very important to not overstress the Hindu origins of yoga. And at the same time, nobody should dismiss the vast importance that Hinduism has played in the evolution of yoga over the centuries," West says.
But Genny Kapuler, who teaches Iyengar yoga, says her understanding of yoga is indeed Hindu in origin. In her practice, she says, "every thought, every action has a ramification ... there is this moral responsibility to own what you do."
The Hindu American Foundation's Shah says these discussions alone show the Take Back Yoga campaign is working.
Indeed, many practitioners would argue their practice goes far beyond a few poses and breaths. Kapuler says she's amazed at how, for her, yoga has led to greater emotional stability, happiness and a deepening of human kindness.
"I practice it over and over," she says. "And I think it and I teach it, and I change."

8.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes North Sumatra
Analysis by Christina Reed
Wed Apr 11, 2012 07:42 AM ET

UPDATE (7:33 a.m. ET): An aftershock of magnitude 8.2 has struck at 16.4 km (10 miles) deep - at 617 km (383 miles) south southwest of the coast of Banda Aceh. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Follow sea level changes here.
A magnitude 8.6 earthquake struck North Sumatra, Indonesia, at 2:38 p.m. local time today. First estimated as a magnitude 8.7 by the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake originated 22.9 km (14.2 miles) below the Earth's crust and struck 434 kilometers (270 miles) southwest of the coast of Banda Aceh, the capital of Indonesia's Aceh province.
NEWS: Hidden Fault Amplified 2004 Tsunami
A tsunami watch and warning was put into effect for the Indian Ocean, immediately after the event. The power is out in Banda Aceh, where residents have moved to high ground, reported Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, a spokesman for the Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency.
The island of Simeulue, Prih Harjadi, and other coastal areas of Aceh are also on alert.
India has taken caution on Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where authorities have ordered people to move out of low-lying areas, CNN reported.
However the geophysics of today's quake do not indicate a repeat of Indonesia's 2004 earthquake is in progress. The magnitude 9.1 earthquake that struck in 2004 and triggered a tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people in 14 countries was a subduction megathrust earthquake closer to shore (250 kilometers south-southeast of Banda Aceh).
Today's temblor appears to have ripped along a transform fault, tearing the seafloor as opposed to popping it apart. Though local tsunami waves are a considerable risk, with calculations showing Simeulue could receive waves as high as 6 meters (20 feet) the widespread tsunami damage seen in 2004 is not anticipated.

The Titanic's Maiden voyage: April 10, 1912
On the the 100th anniversary of the maiden voyage of The Titanic and its subsequent sinking; I thought it would be appropriate to review the events surrounding this catastrophic 'accident'.
I looked on the Internet and found this informative article which I re-post here, which sheds so much light on this subject:

I looked on the Internet and found this informative article which I re-post here, which sheds so much light on this subject:
THE JESUITS SANK THE TITANIC
03 Feb, 2011
When we think of events that have transpired in history over the last one hundred to two hundred years, there are certain events that stand out as ones of great horror, great surprise and great sadness. Of the many that come to mind the most devastating have been the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City and the sinking of the Titanic.
The greatest tragedies in the last two hundred years can be traced to the Jesuits. (I say 400 years)! We see how the Jesuits planned and executed the sinking of the Titanic, and we’ll show you how they did it.
Since the early 1830’s, the United States didn’t have a central bank. The Jesuits desperately wanted another central bank in the country so that they would have a bottomless reservoir from which to draw money for their many wars and other hideous schemes around the world.
In 1910, seven men met on Jekyll Island just off the coast of Georgia, to establish a central bank, which they called the Federal Reserve Bank. These men were Nelson Aldrich and Frank Vanderlip, both representing the Rockefeller financial empire; Henry Davison, Charles Norton and Benjamin Strong, representing J.P. Morgan; and Paul Warburg, representing the Rothschild banking dynasty in Europe. Through some research, we found that the Rothschilds were the banking agents for the papacy's Jesuits, holding "the key" to the wealth of the Roman Catholic Church. They were specifically chosen by Adam Weishaupt ; because Mayer Rothschils was such a vessel of charisma (like Obama) AND a financial genius. Course, the story is told opposite of this truth; presented the total opposite! (my 2 cents)
The Morgans were friendly competitors with the Rothschilds and became socially close to them. Morgan’s London-based firm was saved from financial ruin in 1857 by the Bank of England, over which the Rothschilds held great influence. Thereafter, Morgan appears to have served as a Rothschild financial agent and went to great lengths to make a name for themselves.
These three financial families, the Rothschilds, Morgans and Rockefellers, all do the bidding of the Jesuit Order because of Jesuit infiltration in their organizations.("Project Vatican") They do whatever is necessary to destroy constitutional liberty in the United States and to bring the pope to world domination. As we look back over the 20th century, we see how successful the Jesuits have been. They have continuously misused America’s wealth and attacked the constitution and civil liberties. (IN my: "A Time Such As This"… I prove the CONstitution, Bill Of Rights, and the Declaration Of Independence are all 3 Roman catholic Doctrines for Roman Catholic liberties "AGAINST" the PROTESTants!) again my 2 cents!
The building of the Titanic began in 1909 at a shipyard in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. World War I began just a few years later.
The Titanic was one of a fleet of ships owned by the White Star Line, an international shipping company.
Banking wasn’t the only business in which Morgan had a strong financial interest. Using his control over the nation’s railroads as financial leverage, he created an international shipping trust which included Germany’s two largest lines plus one of the two in England, the White Star Lines.
There were a number of very rich and powerful men who made it clear that they weren’t in favor of the Federal Reserve System. J.P. Morgan was ordered by the Jesuits to build the Titanic. This "unsinkable" ship would serve as the death ship for those who opposed the Jesuits’ plan for a Federal Reserve System.
These rich and powerful men would have been able to block the creation of the Federal Reserve. They had to be destroyed by a means so ridiculous that no one would suspect that they were murdered and nobody would suspect the Jesuits. The Titanic was the vehicle of destruction. In order to further protect the papacy and the Jesuits, many Irish, French and Italian Catholics who immigrated to the New World were aboard. Some Protestants from Belfast who wanted to immigrate to the United States were also invited on board.
Edward Smith was the captain of the Titanic. He had been traveling the North Atlantic waters for twenty-six years and was the world's most experienced master in the North Atlantic routes. He had worked for Jesuit, J.P. Morgan, for many years.
Edward Smith was a "temporary Jesuit". This means he was not a priest, but he was a Jesuit of the short robe. Jesuits aren’t necessarily priests. Those who aren’t priests, serve the others through their profession. Anyone could be a Jesuit and their identity wouldn’t be known. Edward Smith served the Jesuit Order in his profession as a sea captain.
Many interesting points about the Titanic were discussed in a videotape made by the National Geographic in 1986. The video is titled: "The Secrets of the Titanic" (Google). When the Titanic departed from southern England on April 10, 1912, Francis Browne, the Jesuit master of Edward Smith, boarded the ship. This man was the most powerful Jesuit in all of Ireland and answered directly to the General of the Jesuit Order in Rome.
By the command "god", (the Jesuit General) it’s lawful to murder the innocent, to rob, to commit all lewdness, because he (the Pope) is Lord of life and death, and of all things; and thus to fulfill his mandate is our duty. – W.C. Brownlee, Secret Instructions of the Jesuits, American and Foreign Christian Union.
There is no record in history of an association whose organization has stood for three hundred years unchanged and unaltered by all the assaults of men and time, and which has exercised such an immense influence over the destinies of mankind… 'The ends justify the means,’ is his favorite maxim; and as his only end, as we have shown, is the order, at its bidding the Jesuit is ready to commit any crime whatsoever. – G.B. Nicolini, The History of the Jesuits, Henry G. Bohn.
Let us remember the oath that every person takes to become a part of the Jesuit Order:
I should regard myself as a dead body, without will or intelligence, as a little crucifix which is turned about unresistingly at the will of him who holds it as a staff in the hands of an old man, who uses it as he requires it, and as it suits him best. – R.W. Thompson, The Footprints of the Jesuits, Hunt and Eaton.
When a person takes the Jesuit Oath, he is bound to his master until the day he dies. Edward Smith became a man without will or intelligence. He would commit any crime the Order wanted him to commit. Edward Smith had been required for martyrdom. Aboard the Titanic that night, Edward Smith knew his duty. He was under oath. The ship had been built for the enemies of the Jesuits. After three days at sea, the Titanic was propelled full speed ahead, twenty-two knots, on a moonless dark night through a gigantic ice field nearly eighty square miles in area. Edward Smith did this despite at least eight telegrams warning him to be more cautious because he was going too fast.
Question? What is the number of Skull and Bones? 322 Reread the last paragraph.
Did Edward Smith need more caution? No, he had traveled those waters for twenty-six years. He knew there were icebergs in that area. But eight warnings didn’t stop this man who was under the Jesuit oath, and under orders to destroy the Titanic.
One of the greatest tragedies of the twentieth century, the sinking of the Titanic, lies at the door of the Jesuit Order. The unsinkable ship, the floating palace, was created to be the tomb for the wealthy who opposed the Federal Reserve System. By April 1912, all opposition to the Federal Reserve was eliminated. In December 1913, the Federal Reserve System emerged in the United States. Eight months later, the Jesuits had sufficient funding through the Federal Reserve Bank to begin World War I.
The sinking of the Titanic as a Saturn ritual is valid because the event had a traumatic effect on the world view of the infallibility of the industrial revolution.
It defeated mankind’s vision of developing technologies that could "outsmart" the elements and protect humanity from the whims of nature.
Bishop Macedo.

And here, the lucky Father Browne disembarked….Father Browne caught Captain Smith peering down from Titanic’s bridge, poised on the brink of destiny." —
