The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth,..

1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Bringing the Foreign Policy Debate Home

Author: Richard N. Haass, President, Council on Foreign Relations
October 23, 2012
Bringing the Foreign Policy Debate Home - presidential-debate-foreign-policy

A good deal can and will be said about Monday night's foreign policy debate, but the bottom line may be that it was not so much about foreign policy and not so much a debate.
Both candidates had a lot to say about "domestic" concerns: education, deficits, infrastructure, energy, and economic competitiveness. To many watching the debate, it might have seemed to have gone off course. But the emphasis on these stateside concerns served to underscore an important point: the United States can only be as strong abroad as it is at home. American influence in the world depends on the ability to act with real capacity and set an example that others will want to follow. This all takes resources.
There was also a surprising degree of agreement between the two candidates: the wisdom of pushing Hosni Mubarak out of the president's office as the protesters gathered in Tahrir Square; the need to prevent Iran from gaining nuclear weapons; concern for Pakistan's future stability; the utility of drone strikes as a tool of counter-terrorism; the desirability of challenging China on areas of disagreement in a way that did not rule out selective cooperation; and the importance of helping the Syrian opposition by doing all that was possible to see that any weapons supplied did not end up in the "wrong," i.e. radical, hands.
There were as well some obvious omissions: the lack of debate over Libya and the neglect of Mexico, the eurozone, Africa, the Israeli-Palestinian impasse, and climate change. The only thing sure is that whoever wins the election in two weeks will not have the luxury of avoiding these issues or the hard choices associated with the others, domestic and foreign alike.

PBS NewsHour Omits Obama's Support for Blasphemy Law

Matt Vespa's picture
During the September 25 broadcast of the PBS Newshour, anchor Gwen Ifill invited Council on Foreign Relations President Richard Haass and former U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns to discuss President Barack Obama’s foreign policy and his recent address to the UN. Reporter Judy Woodruff also had a segment on the president speech. Yet none of the segments dealing with the address mentioned the fact that the Obama administration has expressed support for anti-blasphemy measures that are completely incongruous with the freedom of speech as protected by the U.S. Constitution.
Woodruff’s segment featured President Obama addressing the UN saying:
The attacks of last two weeks are not simply an assault on America. They're also an assault on the very ideals upon which the United Nations was founded.
If we are serious about these ideals, we must speak honestly about the deeper causes of the crisis, because we face a choice between the forces that would drive us apart and the hopes that we hold in common.
[…]
Given the power of faith in our lives and the passion that religious differences can inflame, the strongest weapon against hateful speech is not repression.
It is more speech, the voices of tolerance that rally against bigotry and blasphemy and lift up the values of understanding and mutual respect.
That doesn’t sound like a policy aimed at supporting “more speech” in our civil discourse.  You'll recall that the Los Angeles Times reported on September 13 that the Obama administration had flagged the trailer for “Innocence of Muslims” and reported it to YouTube to see if it violated the Terms of Service agreement on the site. As the Times noted, that complaint was filed on September 11, before it was known that Amb. Stevens and three other Americans had been murdered by violent extremists with ties to al Qaeda.
And as John Hayward of Human Events wrote on September 14:
This is not an entirely new development.  The Heritage Foundation recalls that 'As recently as December 19, 2011, the U.S. voted for and was instrumental in passing ‘U.N. Resolution 16/18’ against ‘religious intolerance,’ ‘condemning the stereotyping, negative profiling and stigmatization of people based on their religion.’ While this may sound innocuous, it was the latest incarnation of a highly controversial ‘anti-blasphemy’ resolution that has been pushed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the United Nations since 1999.”
Patrick Goodenough of our sister organization CNS News wrote back in December of 2011, that “the resolution, an initiative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is based on one passed by the U.N.’s Human Rights Council in Geneva last spring [of 2011]. The State Department last week hosted a meeting to discuss ways of ‘implementing’ it.”  After all, "U.N. Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18 was negotiated between the Obama Administration and Egypt, a prominent member of the Saudi-championed Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)."
Obama's critics on this front are not just conservatives. Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley wrote back in October of 2009 in USA Today that:
around the world, free speech is being sacrificed on the altar of religion. Whether defined as hate speech, discrimination or simple blasphemy, governments are declaring unlimited free speech as the enemy of freedom of religion. This growing movement has reached the United Nations, where religiously conservative countries received a boost in their campaign to pass an international blasphemy law. It came from the most unlikely of places: the United States.
Hans Bader of the Competitive Enterprise Institute also wrote on September 13 that
the...administration was earlier criticized by legal scholars for effectively endorsing anti-blasphemy legislation. UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh and George Mason University law professor Ilya Somin lamented the Administration’s support for proposals at the United Nations to restrict 'hate speech' against Islam and other religions.
At his inauguration, like all his predecessors, President Obama swore to "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution of the United States, including the First Amendment. Actions of his administration that undercut that protection deserve to be covered thoroughly by the media, especially taxpayer-subsidized media like PBS.

Native Americans celebrate first Catholic sainthood

October 21, 2012 9:30 PM

ByAllen Pizzey

(CBS News) VATICAN CITY - At the Vatican Sunday, two women who lived in America were elevated to sainthood. One did her work in Hawaii, and the other was a Mohawk from upstate New York -- the first Native American canonized.
St Peter's Square has seen every kind of Catholic ceremony there is, but this one broke the mould. For the first time, Native Americans were here in force.
The draw was the first of their people ever to be proclaimed a saint.
Kateri Tekakwitha was born in 1656 in what is now upstate New York. Disfigured and partially blinded by smallpox, she was thrown out of her tribe when she converted to Christianity at age 20, and died four years later. She came to be known as the "Lily of the Mohawks".
For Gerald Tukwin, a Native American from Potawatomi, Kansas, it was the culmination of a dream.
"I thought a lot of our ancestors are probably really excited this day, although they've already passed on they got to be happy with us and what's taken place here in the Vatican," Tukwin said.
The church sees saints as way of rekindling faith.
Making the grade as a saint can take years, sometimes centuries. The most important criteria is miracles: One to be to be beatified; a second to reach sainthood.
Twelve year-old Jake Finkbonner from Washington State is Tekakwitha's second. Stricken with a flesh-eating disease at age five, he was inexplicably cured after his parents prayed to her.
The elevation of Mother Marianne Cope, who worked in the leper colony in Molokai, Hawaii, until her death in 1918, brings the total of American saints to twelve.
Benedict praised the new saints as "heroic and courageous examples".
Coincidentally or not, their canonization came as Catholic bishops are meeting here to find ways to revive Christianity in places where it is fading

WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK on 7 October 2012

unknown

The repercussions of the crisis are catastrophic for young people: Finding a job is becoming almost impossible... and finding a good job is a stroke of luck. The quality of the contracts offered to young people provides no guarantee of a secure and stable position in the labour market, which strongly influences their personal and family lives.

The European Sunday Alliance therefore calls on all members and supporters to focus especially on youth unemployment on the occasion of the

WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK on 7 October 2012

In 2008 the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) declared for the first time the 7thOctober as the World Day for Decent Work. This year the Word Day for Decent Work will focus especially on Youth Unemployment. Countering youth unemployment is one of the main challenges for the European Union in the coming years. There is the danger of a ‘lost generation’: More than 20% of job seekers under 25 in the EU are unable to find a job. Youth unemployment rate is twice that of the total work force in the EU. In some Member States, youth unemployment is even higher than 40%.

For the European Sunday Alliance, decent work is also of paramount importance. We welcome and fully support this Initiative. We believe that all citizens of the European Union are entitled to benefit in particular from decent working hours that, as a matter of principle and according to the specific profession and the circumstances, should exclude working late evenings, nights, public holidays and week-ends.

Therefore, the Alliance calls on members, supporters and all citizens to make the WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK visible on 7 October 2012!

Demonstrations, flash-mob, conferences, panel discussions or any other innovative actions: help us make this European action day visible in your country in order to attract the attention of public opinion, decision-makers, employers and media! For more ideas on possible actions, please see for example the actions of the previous ESA campaign on a European Day for a work-free Sunday (http://www.europeansundayalliance.eu/site/4marchcampaign) or the WORLD DAY FOR DECENT WORK website http://2012.wddw.org/

Please let us know what you are planning and send us a photo or a video of your action. We will publish it on our website!

Adventists call actions to allow women’s ordinations “mistakes”

Adelle M. Banks | Oct 18, 2012

(RNS) Leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Tuesday (Oct. 16) said recent decisions by two regional bodies to allow ordained female pastors were "serious mistakes," and women who are ordained won't be recognized -- at least for now.

“They directly challenge two world Church decisions on the matter of ordination,” reads a statement, passed by a 264-25 vote during the Annual Council meeting in Silver Spring, Md. “They create doubts about the importance of collective decision-making as a basic feature of denominational life.”

The decisions by the Maryland-based Columbia Union Conference and the California-based Pacific Union Conference came as the worldwide church is in the midst of a broad study of the “theology of ordination” that is expected to be considered at the denomination’s 2015 General Conference Session.

Many Adventist women pastors hold a “commissioned” credential, which does not permit ordination, while most male pastors hold a “ministerial” credential, which does.

In 1990, the General Conference Session, the highest authority of the church, approved a recommendation that prevented authorizing ordination of women to ministry. That was followed by a 1995 rejection of a request by the North American Division to permit regional groups to authorize ordination regardless of gender.

In their new statement, Adventist leaders noted that they were dealing with church “structure and procedures,” and not specifically addressing ministerial ordination.

Gerry Chudleigh, spokesman for the Pacific Union Conference, said leaders and members in his region were “grateful that the world church leaders took no punitive action against the unions that recently voted to ordain both men and women.” Since its August decision, that regional group has approved 14 women pastors for ordination and most of them have already been ordained.

Columbia Union Conference spokeswoman Celeste Ryan Blyden said members of her region were encouraged that “this topic is back on the agenda of the worldwide church.” Since its July decision, one woman pastor has been ordained and 14 others have been approved for ordination.

Garrett Caldwell, a spokesman for the world church, said current women pastors will continue to serve “but declarations of ministerial ordination for them will not be recognized until such an action is in harmony with a decision by a General Conference Session.”

55 hurt after floor of Florida building collapses

October 21st, 2012
06:47 PM ET

The crowded second floor of a Tallahassee, Florida, apartment building collapsed early Sunday - sending scores of people plummeting and, ultimately, 55 to area hospitals - city authorities said.

None of the injuries suffered in the collapse at the Seminole Grand Apartments are considered life-threatening, according to a release on the Tallahassee city government's website.

Witnessed reported an "unusually large crowd" in the two-story, wood frame building before the city fire department got a call at 1:27 a.m. about the collapse.

Using a ladder truck, firefighters rescued seven people after they became stuck in a second-story bedroom and could not access the stairwell, the city said. No one was trapped under the collapsed floor, and the first floor did not contain any apartments.

The building opened for occupancy in December 1995, according to the city. The cause of the collapse - which early estimates suggest caused $250,000 in damage - is under investigation.

At least 6 shot at Wis. day spa

CBS/AP/ October 21, 2012, 3:59 PM

Last Updated 4:23 p.m. ET

BROOKFIELD , WIS.Deputies searched Sunday for a shooter after multiple people were wounded when someone opened fire at a spa near a suburban Milwaukee shopping mall.

At least six people were wounded, reports CBS Affiliate WDJT.

Police have identified the primary suspect as Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer. They said he was still at-large and the public's help was needed in tracking him down.

The shooting occurred about 11 a.m. Sunday at the Azana Day Spa, a two-story, 9,000-square-foot building across the street from the Brookfield Square Mall in a middle- to upper-class community west of Milwaukee.

Haughton's father, Radcliffe Haughton Sr., who lives in Florida, told CBS News that the alleged shooter's wife is Zina Haughton, and she works at Azana.

Haughton Sr. said he knew they were having problems and that Zina had taken a restraining order out against him last week in court.

Froedtert Hospital has told CBS News that four on-critical patients have already arrived, and they are expecting another three patients to arrive.

The mall and a county club adjacent to the spa were locked down, local media reported, and the bomb squad is on the scene.

CBS Affiliate WDJT is reporting that Froedtert Hospital is also on lockdown.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department said they are looking for the shooter. Police describe the suspect as a male, 6'2" tall, with dark skin. Law enforcement officials told WDJT that contrary to previous reports, the suspect is not African American.

He may be wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans, carrying a white and black backpack, and driving a black 2003 Mazda.

Milwaukee FBI spokesman Leonard Peace said its SWAT team, hostage negotiators and others were helping with the response. But he declined to say how many FBI personnel were involved in all or provide details on what had happened.

Robert Schmidt, spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said it had 10 agents participating.

Beth Strohbusch, a spokeswoman for Froedtert Memorial Hospital, said four shooting victims were taken there, and three more were expected. She said none of the four already received were in critical condition.

Tactical teams were on the scene, along with at least 20 fire, ambulance and police vehicles. A medical helicopter was on the ground.

It was the second mass shooting in Wisconsin this year. Wade Michael Page, a 40-year-old Army veteran and white supremacist, killed six people and injured three others before fatally shooting himself Aug. 5 at a Sikh temple south of Milwaukee.

The shooting at the mall took place less than a mile from where seven people were killed and four wounded on March 12, 2005, when a gunman opened fire at a Living Church of God service held at a hotel.

Floods force pilgrims to flee Lourdes

French rescue services have helped hundreds of Catholic pilgrims escape the sanctuary of Lourdes as the region was flooded by days of non-stop rain.

More than 450 visitors to the Catholic shrine were ferried from hotels in the lower town to higher ground.

Officials said the famed sites visited by millions of religious pilgrims each year would remain closed for several days.

"The space in front of the grotto is entirely covered with water, the altar is under water," Thierry Castillo, the custodian of the sanctuaries, told the AFP news agency.

Catholics believe the Virgin Mary appeared to a peasant girl named Bernadette Soubirous in the grotto in Lourdes in 1858.

Waters rise

The water was around one meter (three feet) high in front of the grotto 80 centimeters high in the avenue du Paradis, where most of the hotels are located.

Officials have said this is the worst flooding in 25 years. The river Gave de Pau was three meters above its usual level on Saturday and rising. Weather forecasts predicted that the rain would continue until Sunday, following a continuous downpour overnight on Saturday.

Last year, more than six million visitors descended upon shrine. The Catholic church has recognized 68 miracles linked to Lourdes.

Lourdes has special meaning for the suffering, many of whom believe its water can heal and even work miracles. Many disabled or sick people go there to pray for a cure.

The sanctuaries are not expected to reopen before Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Influence of Perception

A Law in Intellectual and Spiritual Worlds—It is a law both of the intellectual and the spiritual nature that by beholding we become changed. The mind gradually adapts itself to the subjects upon which it is allowed to dwell. It becomes assimilated to that which it is accustomed to love and reverence.—The Great Controversy, 555 (1888).

Evil Corrupted Antediluvians—By beholding evil, men became changed into its image, until God could bear with their wickedness no longer, and they were swept away by the flood.—Special Testimonies On Education, 43, 44 , May 11, 1896. (Fundamentals of Christian Education, 421, 422.)

Changed for the Better—Looking unto Jesus we obtain brighter and more distinct views of God, and by beholding we become changed. Goodness, love for our fellowmen, becomes our natural instinct. We develop a character which is the counterpart of the divine character. Growing into His likeness, we enlarge our capacity for knowing God. More and more we enter into fellowship with the heavenly world, and we have continually increasing power to receive the riches of the knowledge and wisdom of eternity.—Christ’s Object Lessons, 355 (1900).

"We are not saved as a sect; no denominational name has any virtue to bring us into favor with God. We are saved individually as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ." -RH 02/10/1891

The same work that has been in the past will be carried forward under the guise of the General Conference Association. The sacred character of this association is fast disappearing. What will then be respected as pure, holy, and undefiled? Will there be any voice that God's people can regard as a voice they can respect? There certainly is nothing now that bears the divine credentials. Sacred things are mixed and mingled with earthly business that has no connection with God." —The Paulson Collection of Ellen G. White Letters, p. 352.

"It is working upon wrong principles that has brought the cause of God into its present embarrassment. The people have lost confidence in those who have the management of the work.
"Yet we hear that the voice of the conference is the voice of God. Every time I have heard this, I have thought that it was almost blasphemy. The voice of the conference ought to be the voice of God, but it is not, because some in connection with it are not men of faith and prayer; they are not men of elevated principle. There is not a seeking of God with the whole heart; there is not a realization of the terrible responsibility that rests upon those in this institution to mold and fashion minds after the divine similitude.— E.G.W., Sermons and Talks Volume Two, pp. 159-160.

Who can now feel sure that they are safe in respecting the voice of the General Conference Association? If the people in our churches understood the management of the men who walk in the light of the sparks of their own kindling, would they respect their decisions? I answer, No, not for a moment. I have been shown that the people at large do not know that the heart of the work is being diseased and corrupted at Battle Creek. —The Paulson Collection of Ellen G. White Letters, p. 353.

Obama's Libyagate

The question is not whether president Obama called the attack on the Consulate in Benghazi - Libya a Terrorist act? Where an Ambassador and 3 other Americans were killed; But, rather, why did the Obama White House blame the killings on a bogus video “The Innocence of Muslims”,  that demeans Muhammad and Muslims?  The administration categorized the fatal aggression an unfortunate, violent reaction to a hate crime against Muslims?
That is the real issue.

PANDERING and APOLOGIZING TO THE KILLERS?

Why did Obama, Hillary, and Susan Rice use the media and the U.N. to blame the bizarre video clip for the assassination of an American diplomat and 3 others in a supposed non-enemy state? When it was actually a organized guerilla assault?  It was not civil unrest or a riot?  It was an attack!

During the second Presidential Debate on October 16, 2012, Mitt Romney failed to point out the ruse that really makes this fiasco stand out. The fact is that 4 people were killed in an American consulate and the White House blamed it on a video.  That is the point that candidate Romney was not able to verbalize.

Romney was on to something (about the Benghazi killings) last Wednesday night when president Obama and Candy Crowley were successful in stifling his speech;  However, with the latest findings this developing story is going to spiral and go viral. Watch out when the floodgates are opened; I see a flood the size of Watergate coming upon the scene.

Why does the news media lie so much to support and protect the Democrats?

Many wonder today why the Republican party does nothing to defeat the treasonous schemes of the Democrats. It is because the pope’s Jesuits have thoroughly infiltrated the Republican party as well as the Democratic party. Many wonder why the news media lie so much to support and protect the Democrats. It is because the pope’s Jesuits have thoroughly infiltrated the news media. The news media and schools and colleges, with their lies and propaganda, have so conditioned the people of the country that they are unable to recognize what has been done to them. Victory for the Jesuits seems very near. The Jesuits are like a cancer that has pervaded nearly every fiber of the society of the United States. We are being defeated by the enemy within.
