Sexual privacy under threat in a surveillance society

By Naomi Wolf, Special to CNN
updated 11:04 AM EST, Tue November 20, 2012

Gen. David Petraeus, 60, resigned Friday, November 9, as head of the CIA and admitted having an affair. His mistress was later identified as his biographer, Paula Broadwell. The retired four-star general formerly oversaw coalition forces in Iraq as well as U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan. He and his wife, Holly, have been married 38 years and have two grown children.

Naomi Wolf

(CNN) -- Once again we see the scenario unfold: A powerful man, with tremendous responsibilities, apparently "caught" in a compromising sexual situation with a woman who is not his wife.

There is the now-familiar ritual of the threats of embarrassing revelations of intimate conversations, the hunted-down "other woman" who either decides to tell more or not, the nationwide harrumphing and moralizing, and the schadenfreude-stoking musings over the humiliations of the loyal wife. And of course, there is the spectacle of another career -- in David Petraeus' case, one that distinguished him in his service to our country -- in tatters.

But while the media tell a familiar narrative of misjudgment and temptation, to me this story is about the terrifying power of the Patriot Act, married to the terrifying power of the resurrected Espionage Act -- and combined with a lethal admixture of our nation's Puritanism, prurience about and ignorance regarding sexuality.

What happened to Petraeus -- and the recent slew of other powerful men or men threatening to some power blocs, from Eliot Spitzer to Bill Clinton? They were surveilled by political elites in an increasingly intrusive surveillance society, and exposed.

We should understand that the surveillance that keeps tripping up these powerful men is not something about which only heads of state, whistle-blower publishers or generals have to worry. It also includes others in which the allegations of what initiated their downfall are more complex and serious, such as Nicolas Sarkozy and Julian Assange.

Because of the Patriot Act, any of us, if we annoy or threaten powerful interests, can have our e-mails read without our knowledge. Any of us can be subject to a search that could lead from one e-mail correspondent to another until the National Security Agency or the FBI, which have both confirmed that they have invested heavily in domestic surveillance of social networks, find something -- anything -- that could be seen as compromising.

At that point, any of us can be subjected to terrible pressure -- even legal threats -- if what is uncovered can be in any way described as "classified information."

When affairs ruin careers

Petraeus affair overshadows Benghazi

Media's Petraeus frenzy

We live at a time in which our government is vastly over-classifying subjects in the name of public interest or that might embarrass the state. Heaven forbid if anyone provides "material support" for the enemy, which is so vague a term that President Barack Obama's own lawyers confirmed to Judge Katherine Forrest, in my presence during the New York hearing on the National Defense Authorization Act this past spring, that it can be used to include basic journalism about, for instance, the Taliban, or other information the government simply does not wish exposed.

Any of us can be threatened with possessing classified information. This is why Bradley Manning has spent months in solitary confinement in prison.

We can be threatened with the Espionage Act. This is why Assange is hiding in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. If Assange were convicted of receiving classified information, and extradited under the Espionage Act, he could theoretically be shipped to Guantanamo -- for which some congressional voices have called. But that precedent casts a shadow over everyone who might have ever heard about or discussed classified information -- something that is routine in Washington.

There are still many unknowns to the Petraeus story. Maybe it really is just about the CIA and the FBI being very, very worried about Petraeus sleeping with his biographer. But we don't need to buy into this theater. If there is a national security breach -- which would be a real issue if one took place -- that can be investigated and addressed without spectacle or bullying.

Opinion: Blame affairs on evolution of sex roles

In working with these two appalling laws, we need to understand what loss of privacy means: Any of us can be brought down, intimidated, silenced, threatened, by exposure of our personal lives, for any reason.

We all have secrets we do not wish made public. Any of us can be threatened with exposure of infidelity, or sex addiction, or flirtatious communications, or addiction to embarrassing pornographic images, or alcoholism or bipolar disorder, or even our discussions with our doctors, psychiatrists or accountants -- about our most personal information.

It is hard to imagine fully what the loss of sexual privacy means to private life -- and to the human condition.

In the film "The Lives of Others," set in East Germany before the Berlin Wall came down, the state listened in on lovers doing what lovers do: quarrelling, engaging in highly intimate acts of desire and passion, and sometimes, yes, betraying their spouses. But what is clear from the depiction is that whatever private pain such betrayal as infidelity causes, the general pain and the deadening quality for everyone, of living in a society in which there is no privacy -- and no sexual privacy -- is far, far more destructive and more distorting of the human condition.

Sexual privacy is absolutely necessary for human beings to have basic dignity, and that includes the space to make mistakes or do things one may regret. A third of couples, husbands and wives, report that they have committed infidelity. What if all of those marriages were subject to surveillance and exposure?

What if the power regarding who tells you that your spouse has betrayed you, becomes not a private struggle in private life, but a matter for the state to decide? And how many people in marriages that might have survived an infidelity, might have their lives and relationships further shattered by the state, as it can do now, from knowing the details of every single e-mail or credit card record or gift?

Finally, add to this toxic mess American Puritanism and prurience. It is easy to look at what seems to be a man, a mistress and a furious wife, and to assume that one knows all about what has gone on.

But often such situations are complex. Women commit adultery as often as men do, though the media are full of stories asking: Why do men cheat? Indeed, women initiate divorce more often than men do. Female unhappiness in intimate relationships is rife in America, because of some basic misunderstandings of female desire that I have detailed in my new book.

It is not our place to judge and condemn, or to cast the first stone. A new understanding of the dangers of the Patriot and Espionage acts should show us why it is more important than ever for couples to be permitted to experience the pain and betrayal of a possible infidelity in private, without the power of the state breathing down the necks of all involved.

Of course, there is no way ever to justify an infidelity -- betrayal is always wrong. One cannot know from the outside what kind of sexual or emotional loneliness may have been part of any given marriage, what kinds of demons any one of us might struggle with.

Understanding the toxic sexual culture in which American marriages try to thrive should lead us, at least, to see such breakdowns without snap judgments. And understanding the role of a surveillance society in the state's choosing which adulterers to go after should give us pause about joining into to any theatrics of public condemnation.

Unless there was a serious state security issue in relation to this infidelity, what happened between Petraeus and Paula Broadwell should be, personally speaking, the equivalent of classified information: in other words, absolutely none of our business.

The Church of England can no longer continue as an arm of the state

By voting against women bishops, it has shown itself to be a discriminatory organisation that seeks to be above the law

Up until now I cannot say I have been overly concerned with female vicars. That one in Dibley seems fun but mostly I am with Bill Hicks: "Women priests. Great, great. Now there's priests of both sexes I don't listen to." I don't believe or even pretend to believe in order to get my kids into the right schools.

Nor am I under illusion that the Church of England is some hippy-dippy hirsute cerebral force for good. Bits of it may well be. When I lived in London's King's Cross, the local vicar – "Trev the Rev", as he was known – let the prostitutes sleep in the church when they were under assault from vicious punters and the police. This seemed to me a fine Christian thing to do. But for every Trev the Rev there is some reactionary gittish vicar determined to keep up the fine traditions of homophobia and misogyny.

Unity in the church is a joke. When I asked my local vicar if I could use his church for a blessing ceremony using a female Baptist minister, he made clear his feelings about women vicars. But half a mile up the road the clergy were in the middle of a big gay picnic and had no problem with anyone using their building. For a donation. Which is fair enough.

One encounters these inner-city vicars who don't seem to mind what you believe – some will even say that the resurrection is but a metaphor – but don't be fooled. At the heart of the church is a steely core of evangelicals who have far more say than they should. The provisional wing of the CofE is as fundamentalist as they come: the one thing that all fundamentalisms share is the need to keep women in their place.

Thus we had the farce of the vote against women bishops when there have been women priests for 20 years, which the majority of the congregation accepts. To ban those women from promotion is discrimination that would not be acceptable in any other walk of life. The church, with its mystifying voting process, looks not only archaic but also impotent as the vast majority of the synod did not want this result. They are praying for resolution. Sometimes prayers are not enough.

As the conservative MP who speaks for the synod in parliament said: "I think the great danger for the church following the vote is that it will be seen increasingly as just like any other sect." Indeed, this is how many of us already regard it. The question then becomes how can the church continue to function as an arm of the state when it endorses such out-and-out prejudice?

Remember there are already 3,600 women priests in the church and 37 women Anglican bishops worldwide. Africa has just got its first woman bishop. So now we lag behind Swaziland.

The issue is not belief – people can believe in fairies as far as I am concerned – it is the relationship between church and state. In this crazy chess game, the head of the Church of England, the Queen, could not be a bishop. David Cameron has urged them to "get on with it" – ie, vote the right way for the church – but not conforming to equality legislation is untenable.

It is worth understanding what the objection to women as bishops is based on. Evangelicals believe that women cannot exercise authority over men. They use scripture (St Paul's letters) to justify this: "I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man." Thus a man could never swear a canonical oath to a woman bishop. Other objections rest on the fact that Jesus chose only male disciples. Was Jesus sexist? And that before The Fall, when it all went wrong, women existed to act only as helpers to men. I venture that the people, many of them women, who believe such things are unlikely to be swayed by new-fangled notions of equality. But why should they hold such sway in the church and why should the church hold such sway in our land?

Away from theological debate, other issues are at stake. Money, for instance. Reform, the group that represents the evangelicals, holds the rest of the church to ransom by constantly reminding the House of Bishops of its financial clout. In 2010 Reform wrote a letter mentioning the £38m that it had added to the CofE central coffers. The threat that these people withdraw completely from the CofE appears to paralyse the church – but surely the situation has become ridiculous.

The church, in seeking to be above the law, is now a discriminatory organisation, though it holds 26 seats in the House in Lords, from which women are barred. This effective debarring of women from the legislative process is more than an "embarrassment", it is profoundly undemocratic.

A secular country – and that is largely what we are – should have no truck with this. Why on earth should we respect this bizarre sect any longer? The separation of church and state is long overdue. An institution that allows the maintenance of a stained glass ceiling for its female clergy to bang their heads against should not only lose its moral authority. Let it also lose its unearned privileges.

Vatican Bible Heresy (Part 1) William Tyndale,The Real Bible Version Issue EXPOSED

(PART 2 of 9 AT THIS LINK) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtUfgtgB_Is

This Video contains a lot of VERY shocking information, and proves that the New "Bible" Versions produced since 1881 (RV, ASV, NRSV, NIV, etc.) are nothing more than Roman Catholic perversions.

The Catholic religion is composed of traditions which are NOT based upon the Word of God. Matthew 23:9 warns us not to reverence any man as "Father." Yet, this is exactly what the Catholic religion practices. 1st Timothy 4:1-3 warns us about the Catholic religion... "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." -1st Timothy 4:1-3

It is very simple to be saved. Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, deserving of Hell. Please forgive me of my sins and take me to Heaven when I die. I now believe upon You alone, apart from all self-righteous works and religion, as my personal Savior. Thank you. Amen.

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!

God's simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.

Christ died for your sins. You are a sinner by nature and by choice. Jesus took your sins and charged them to His own record. He went to the cross and paid the penalty for your sins. He says if you're willing to receive Him in faith; He will transfer His payment to your debt, and His righteousness to your sins. He will impute to you His goodness, and impute to His own record your sin; if you in faith will trust Him as your Savior.

Written in this book

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Tulsi Gabbard, First Hindu Elected To Congress, Will Swear In On Bhagavad Gita, 'Sacred' Hindu Text

Posted: 11/19/2012 3:02 pm EST Updated: 11/19/2012 3:02 pm EST

When Tulsi Gabbard, a Hawaii resident who made history this month at the first Hindu elected to Congress, attends her swearing in ceremony in January, she's poised to mark another first in American politics: Gabbard will take her oath over the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred Hindu text.

While no religious ceremony is legally required for those elected to Congress and the Senate, many choose to take oaths of office over Christian and Jewish texts, and Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, a Muslim, took his oath over a Quran. But Gabbard's use of a non-Abrahamic text will be unique and is symbolic of the growing religious diversity of Congress.

“For the Hindu Americans it is a historic moment ... It is a matter of pride that finally someone not only from our own faith, but someone who is a practicing Hindu, will be sworn in the Congress on one of our most sacred books," said Anju Bhargava, founder of Hindu American Seva Charities and a former member of the White House's Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

"It is my hope is that this swearing in will be another learning opportunity for our country about Hindus and Gita. Another step towards bringing the knowledge and values of Gita even more prominently to the American political landscape so that it becomes part of the everyday vocabulary in applying the moral principles in our political arena," said Bhargava, whose organization works to promote Hindu participation in civic life.

The Bhagavad Gita, which is often referred to as the Gita, is one of several Hindu texts, but Gabbard has said it's her primary sacred text. It is comprised of 700 verses and 18 chapters of the famed Mahabharata epic and is told in the form of a dialogue between Arjuna, a warrior-prince, and Krishna (God), in which they discuss his role and philosophical concepts in the Sanatana Dharma (Universal Order), which is popularly known as Hinduism.

In interviews, Gabbard has pointed to two verses of the Gita as being particularly important to her. Both are from chapter two, which is called "Sankhya yoga," and which discusses the soul. The chapter is often seen as a summary of the Gita's spiritual instruction. Gabbard's first favorite part, from verse 17, defines the soul as "that which pervades the entire body you should know to be indestructible. No one is able to destroy that imperishable soul." The other, from verse 23, expands on the idea: "The soul can never be cut into pieces by any weapon, nor can he be burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind."

Although there are other older Hindu scriptures, such as the Vedas, the Gita is seen as representing "essence of all Vedas," said Siva Subramanian, a Washington, D.C.-area resident and member of the Council on Hindu Temples of the USA.

"It is also important for the USA that it will eventually have the representation from all the religions, and Tulsi taking the oath on the Gita is another step in that direction," Subramanian said.

Gabbard, 31, was born in American Samoa and raised by a Catholic father and a Hindu mother. She moved to Hawaii when she was two years old and joined the Hawaii state legislature in 2002 at age 21. She served in the Hawaii National Guard the next year and, in 2004, went to Baghdad to be a medical operations specialist. In 2008, she was deployed to Kuwait to work with the nation's counterterrorism trainees.

Gabbard chose to embrace the Hindu faith after her mother started practicing it when Gabbard was a teen. The congresswoman-elect, whose first name refers to a tree that's sacred to Hindus, follows the Vaishnava branch of Hinduism, which focuses on the Supreme Lord Vishnu and his 10 main incarnations.

Largely made up of Indian-Americans, the Hindu population in the United States is between 600,000 and 2.3 million. Unlike most Hindus, Gabbard is not of Indian heritage. Her father is Samoan and her mother is a convert to Hinduism.

Gabbard could not be reached for comment by The Huffington Post prior to publication, but in a statement released after her victory, she expressed hope that her election would help encourage other Hindu-Americans to proudly embrace their religion.

"On my last trip to the mainland, I met a man who told me that his teenage daughter felt embarrassed about her faith, but after meeting me, she's no longer feeling that way," said Gabbard, who will represent Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District. "He was so happy that my being elected to Congress would give hope to hundreds and thousands of young Hindus in America, that they can be open about their faith."

Gabbard will be taking the House seat of Hawaii's Mazie Hirono, a Buddhist who beat former Gov. Linda Lingle (R) in the Senate race, making Hirono the first Buddhist in the U.S. Senate. When Hirono was sworn into office in January 2007, she did not take an oath, but made an affirmation. The option comes from Article 6 of the Constitution, which says that "Senators and Representatives ... shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required."

The affirmation option "was a religious liberty measure that was provided to Quakers and Mennonites, who were the two main religious minorities at the time of the Constitution's writing. They did not take oaths out of religious convictions," said Eric Rassbach, deputy general counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a legal advocacy group.

Hirono and Gabbard will join a mostly Christian but increasingly diverse Congress. A recent Pew Forum analysis showed that the 530 seats in the 113th Congress will include 299 Protestants, 161 Catholics, 32 Jews and 15 Mormons, among other faiths.

The first Muslim to join the House or Senate, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), was first elected in 2006 and reelected for a fourth term on Nov. 6. In 2008, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) became the second Muslim elected to Congress. In 2008, Rep. Hark Johnson (D-Ga.), another Buddhist, also joined Congress, making him and Hirono the first Buddhists to be elected to Congress. The only atheist in the current Congress, Rep. Pete Stark ( D-Calif.), lost his seat on Nov. 6. But Democrat Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, who has said she prefers a "secular approach," will join the new Congress.

More than a century and a half ago, smaller religious groups made headway into congressional seats for the first time. Lewis Charles Levin of the American Party was the first Jew elected to Congress in 1845, and represented Pennsylvania in the House. The first Mormon was John Milton Bernhisel, who joined Congress in 1851 to represent Utah. The only Sikh congressman, California Democrat Dalip Singh Saund, was elected to three terms beginning in 1957.

Mainstream Media Now Openly Admits The FBI And CIA Are Reading All Your Emails

CIA
Add caption

Sunday, November 18, 2012 by: J. D. Heyes

For years, those of us who have tried to warn the American public that Big Brother monitors all Internet users were demonized, vilified and ridiculed.

Now, the mainstream media has proven us correct.

“The U.S. government — and likely your own government, for that matter — is either watching your online activity every minute of the day through automated methods and non-human eavesdropping techniques, or has the ability to dip in as and when it deems necessary — sometimes with a warrant, sometimes without,” ZDNet reported earlier this month. “That tin-foil hat really isn’t going to help. Take it off, you look silly.”
The Petraeus case

Where’s the proof that the government has this capability?

You might recall a fellow by the name of (retired) Gen. David Petraeus. He’s been in the news lately.

This four-star general-turned-CIA chief just resigned his post after news broke that he had engaged in an extra-marital affair with is biographer, herself a West Point graduate and former Army officer.

What led to this shocking discovery was Petraeus’ use, of all things, Google’s online email service, Gmail.

According to federal law, mind you, authorities are not legally permitted to electronically snoop around in your email box.

“The government can’t just wander through your emails just because they’d like to know what you’re thinking or doing,” Stewart Baker, a former assistant secretary at the Homeland Security Department who’s now in private law practice, told The Associated Press. “But if the government is investigating a crime, it has a lot of authority to review people’s emails.”

Or, in the case of the CIA, if the agency wants to track a suspect ostensibly for “national security” purposes. Ditto the NSA.

The wrangling of Petraeus’ email account has certainly landed him in a world of trouble, but his story has also, once again, ignited a new the debate over when, how and why governments and law enforcement agencies alike are able to access the email accounts of ordinary citizens – even if they head up the most powerful spy agency in the world.

Granted, experts say “the little people” needn’t worry much about having their online presence tracked. Agencies like the CIA generally tend to have bigger fish to fry, so to speak. But nevertheless, the technology to pilfer email accounts at will obviously exists.

“Forget ECHELON, or signals intelligence, or the interception of communications by black boxes installed covertly in data centers,” writes Zack Whittaker for ZDNet. “Intelligence agencies and law enforcement bodies can access – thanks to the shift towards Web-based email services in the cloud – but it’s not as exciting or as Jack Bauer-esque as one may think or hope for.”

(Editor’s Note: ECHELON, for those who are unfamiliar with it, is the name of “a global Communications Interception (COMINT) system created by the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to routinely and indiscriminately monitor and record all forms of electronic communications worldwide (both military and civilian) and overseen by the National Security Agency,” according to one published description of the program.)
How the top CIA official got busted

When he set up his private Gmail account, Petraeus used a pseudonym and composed email messages but never sent them. They were instead saved as drafts. His lover, Paula Broadwell, would then log in under the same account, read the drafts then reply to them in the same manner – as a draft, without actually sending the message.

The exchanges would not be sent across the networks through Google’s data centers, which would make it nearly impossible for the NSA or any other ELINT (electronic intelligence) agency (like Britain’s GCHQ or the Israeli Mossad) to “read” the messages while they are in transit between accounts.

Other sinister operators – terrorists, pedophiles and the like – have been known to use the same trick to avoid detection, ZDNet reported.

“But surely IP addresses are logged and noted? When emails are sent and received, yes. But the emails were saved in draft and therefore were not sent. However, Google may still have a record of the IP addresses of those who logged into the account,” the report said.

In the end, the FBI used a little-know law called the Stored Communications Act, which is part of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, as the basis for getting a warrant to view Petraeus’ private Gmail account. And that’s how agents found the stored messages that were never actually sent.

“Once it knew Ms. Broadwell was the sender of the threatening messages, the FBI got a warrant that gave it covert access to the anonymous email account,” the BBC’s Mark Ward reported.

Bank For International Settlements (BIS): How The Rothschilds Control And Dictate To The World

March 22, 2010

By William Dean A. Garner - BLN Contributing Writer

For decades, people have urged me, pushed me, prodded me, practically peeled off my skin, pulled out my eyes, and yanked out my brain to prove it, i.e. show them the data, the results, the books, manuals, pamphlets, journals, monographs, voice and video recordings, all the resources I have used to make the statements I do about the Brzezinski Cartel and the Rothschilds.

On the evening of St. Patrick’s Day 2010, I feel now is the time . . . but with a twist.

The list below shows 165 different ways how The First Sphere of Influence (Rothschilds and Brzezinski Cartel) controls the world. One hundred and sixty-five reasons to believe what I say to be 100% accurate and true.

Each entry is a separate and distinct central bank, located in a separate and distinct part of the world. These central banks cover the globe and know absolutely no boundaries, effectively erasing borders between even sworn enemies.

The BIS (pronounced BIZZ) is the Rothschild’s piggy bank, a veritable deep-pit mine, the equivalent of quadrillions of dollars.

quadrillion quad·ril’lion adj.

The cardinal number equal to 1015.
Chiefly British. Septillion.

What’s the significance of having a central bank within a country and why should you concern yourself, your family and colleagues?

Central banks are illegally created PRIVATE banks that are owned by the Rothschild banking family. The family has been around for more than 230 years and has slithered its way into each country on this planet, threatened every world leader and their governments and cabinets with physical and economic death and destruction, and then emplaced their own people in these central banks to control and manage each country’s pocketbook. Worse, the Rothschilds also control the machinations of each government at the macro level, not concerning themselves with the daily vicissitudes of our individual personal lives. Except when we get too far out of line.

The grand plan of The First Sphere of Influence is to create a global mononation. Please do not confuse this with the term globalization. Mononation and globalization couldn’t be more different in concept, scope and purpose. Mononation is one state. It has one government. One set of laws for all ordinary citizens, no laws for the elite. Globalization refers to communicating, trading, interacting, etc. among separate, different, independent, sovereign countries.

The grand plan of The First Sphere of Influence is to create a global mononation.
Our own Federal Reserve is an illegally emplaced private bank that is directly responsible for creating all the US’s depressions, recessions, and the inflation and deflation of our dollar. The Fed controls the printing of our own currency, and then charges the US government interest on those loans. The interest is growing each year, making it difficult if not impossible for our government to pay it. How do we pay this interest? By the US Personal Income Tax. This tax goes to the Rothschild family.

In the coming months, as I continue to gather intel and write a book about The First Sphere of Influence, I will share more and more. For now, I kindly ask that you read each of the 165 lines below. One hundred and sixty-five reasons to believe my intel. You can click on each bank and visit its website. I’ve seen each one. They’re real. And they’re one of the reasons why each country is in such deep debt to this insidious family, the Rothschilds.

By the way, if you’re curious what the US debt is to the BIS, please refer to the table at the end of this article, taken from the latest statistical results provided by the Joint External Debt Hub, which receives data from the BIS, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

IRS Sued For Not Enforcing Ban On Political Endorsements By Churches

Posted by JacobSloan on November 18, 2012

Religious institutions should have had their tax-exempt status, which is contingent on not telling congregants how to vote, stripped a long time ago. This court case is largely symbolic, but hopefully it awakens discussion on this issue. The Freedom From Religion Foundation announces its legal action against the IRS:

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is taking the Internal Revenue Service to court over its failure to enforce electioneering restrictions against churches and religious organizations, calling it a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and of FFRF’s equal protection rights. FFRF filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

A widely circulated Bloomberg news article quoted Russell Renwicks, with the IRS’ Tax-Exempt and Government Entities division, saying the IRS has suspended tax audits of churches. Other sources claim the IRS hasn’t been auditing churches since 2009.

As many as 1,500 clergy reportedly violated the electioneering restrictions on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, notes FFRF’s legal complaint. The complaint also references “blatantly political” full-page ads running in the three Sundays leading up to the presidential elections by the Billy Graham Evangelical Association.

FFRF is asking the the federal court to enjoin IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman from continuing “a policy of non-enforcement of the electioneering restrictions against churches and religious organizations.”

Pilgrim's Progress (Classic Version)

Uploaded by Spiritlessons on Aug 27, 2011

The Pilgrim's Progress is an allegory of a Christian's journey (here represented by a character called 'Christian') from the "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City". Along the way he visits such locations as the Slough of Despond, Vanity Fair, the Doubting Castle, and the Valley of the Shadow of Death. Bunyan, the author, had very little formal education and a humble background. Nonetheless Pilgrim's Progress is considered one of the masterpieces of English literature, and is required reading for Christians who are on the spiritual path in a world of temptations.

One month until they regulate the Internet

Better enjoy Facebook while you can.

A U.N.-sponsored conference next month in Dubai will propose new regulations and restrictions for the Internet, which critics say will censor free speech, levy tariffs on e-commerce, and even force companies to clean up their “e-waste” and make gadgets that are better for the environment.

Concerns about the closed-door event have sparked a Wikileaks-style info-leaking site, and led the State Department on Wednesday to file a series of new proposals or tranches seeking to ensure “competition and commercial agreements -- and not regulation” as the meeting's main message.

Terry Kramer, the chief U.S. envoy to the conference, says the United States is against sanctions and believes management of the Internet by one central organization goes against free speech.

“[Doing nothing] would not be a terrible outcome at all,” Kramer said recently. “We need to avoid suffocating the Internet space through well-meaning but overly prescriptive proposals that would seek to control content.”

The conference will be run by the International Telecommunications Union (ITC), a U.N. agency that has typically provided a welcome service by making sure that the Internet works across countries. Many of its guidelines were first instituted in 1988. Most haven’t changed since then.

'While the worst-case scenario isn’t likely, there’s a decent chance that some of these regulations will go into effect.'

- Josh King, an attorney with legal advice site Avvo.com

The World Conference on International Telecommunications (WCIT-12) is the first such meeting since those guidelines were created, and businesses are taking it seriously: U.S. delegates will include representatives from AT&T, Cisco, Facebook, GoDaddy, and dozens more.

To dispel concerns, the ITU played damage control in early October.

“There are no proposals submitted to create new international regulatory agencies, or mechanisms, and hence no proposals to put ITU in control of the Internet!” said Malcolm Johnson, ITU's telecommunication standardization bureau director, in a written statement.

Despite those reassurances, key experts remain concerned.

The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) is one of just five groups that assign numbers to Internet names, a key part of making the web tick. Cathy Handley, executive director of government affairs at ARIN and a conference attendee, said the meeting is meant to exert some sort of controls.

“Some of the proposals that could clearly have consequences address the high cost of mobile roaming, taxation of calls, issues associated with the routing of calls, cybersecurity and combating spam,” Handley told FoxNews.com. “A major concern is with any attempt to make the International Telecommunication Regulations prescriptive and force regulation.”

Indeed, the same statement in which Johnson urges calm mentions a possible vote for more regulation.

Josh King, an attorney with legal advice site Avvo.com, said the ITU will make stronger proposals at a 2015 conference in Dubai. For now, the goal is to restructure so the telecommunication companies in each country have more control over what is on the Internet.

“The open, multi-stakeholder approach that has led to the massive growth of the Internet over the last 15 years [would] be replaced with a system of top-down, international regulation,” he told FoxNews.com.

Michael Embrich, a spokesperson for Internet advocacy group TestPAC, defines that goal as a way to level the playing field on the Internet and give developing countries a fair shot. Smaller countries want more regulations to help them compete with the U.S, he said.

At the conference, the ITC will even propose regulations that go offline, further than the Web.

Emrich said one proposal, to be funded by $53B in U.S. dollars, is to connect North and South America using a massive telecom pipeline. Another rule would cover cell phone batteries.

“They would like to implement a law that would require all makers of rechargeable batteries to make them 30 percent smaller and more efficient. They claim to have a study that says they can do this though proper regulations and requirements,” Embrich said.

Handley told FoxNews.com that it is likely some of the proposals at WCIT will be enacted over the next five years. What were formerly considered rough guidelines will become more precise governances, she said.

“The impact will be determined by the proposals that are adopted,” Handley said. “[Previous regulations have been viewed as] high-level principles, which means that countries have been able to implement them as they have seen needed.”

“While the worst-case scenario isn’t likely, there’s a decent chance that some of these regulations will go into effect,” King agreed.

Even if the ITU adds new rules, it won’t be able to enforce Internet governance on a global stage, Emrich said. Iran now has a closed Internet, and the only recourse the ITU has is to impose sanctions, for example.

“India has also recently imposed harsh censorship on their Internet users that go against the recommendation of practices of the WCIT,” he told FoxNews.com. “The WCIT has shown no evidence that they will try to stop it.”

Vivek Mohan, a fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and a former Microsoft attorney, says the talks should be taken seriously, even if there might not be any short-term impact.

“This is a fight for life for the ITU. If they don't assert authority and jurisdiction, they will become irrelevant,” he told FoxNews.com.

This episode of BackStory with the American History Guys was originally broadcast in October 2011. This episode has been slightly edited and updated from that original version, which you can listen to here.

Halloween – despite its solemn Celtic roots – has become a safe way for Americans to transgress social norms and toy with the idea of ghosts in a family-friendly fashion. But for some, spirits from another plane have always been a very real part of life on thisplane.

On this Halloween special, the History Guys explore Americans’ relationship with ghosts, spirits, and witches throughout our nation’s history. Why were colonists so fearful of New England “witches”? How is it that progressive social reformers found a home in the Spiritualist movement of the 19th century? Why do new media technologies always conjure talk of the undead? Can social upheaval help explain our history with the ineffable?

A Generation Under Siege By The Forces Of Darkness!

"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?"

I Peter 4:16-18

"And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

Luke 18:7-8

"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call."

Joel 2:32

"And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Revelation 12:17

In this issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, we will examine the current events of our day and the many indicators that this world is under siege by the forces of darkness. We will also examine some of the dangers threatening the earth and look to the Holy Scriptures to gain insight into this present time.

In the book of II Thessalonians, chapter 2, the Apostle Paul warns us that there would be a "falling away" in the last days. I believe there is ample evidence that the falling away spoken of in the Holy Bible is now occurring. On October 10, 2012, an article written by a heretic known as Steve McSwain was published by the Huffington Post. In this article, Mr. McSwain makes the claim that "Christianity is dying." He then proclaims that Christianity is slowly being replaced by a new religion, which he deems to be far superior to the beliefs of those who follow the Bible. "For decades now, the church has sought to survive on a doctrine of salvation that depended on the shedding of innocent blood to appease an obsessively angry God so as to rescue humanity from what would otherwise result in their conscious and eternal torment in hell. It's crazy theology," McSwain wrote. (1) The article also states that followers of this new religion will not revere the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God. "They interpret the Bible for what it is: an inspired book, capable of providing inspiration, wisdom and spiritual direction, not a textbook on science or morality or answer-book preachers might use for 'Stump the Preacher' talk shows," the article declares. (2) Another portion of the article advocates embracing elements of other religions. "I see this new evolving Christianity being birthed in the hearts of sincere and devoted Christ-followers who are open to what other religions can teach us about spirituality, too." (3) Perhaps Mr. McSwain has never read I John 4:1, which tells us, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

The notion that Biblical Christianity is dying is being spurred by a recent study published by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. According to the results of the study, twenty percent of Americans have no religious affiliation, which represents a five percent increase over the last five years. (4) These people, which are commonly referred to as "the Nones," are known to be particularly offended by conservative values. "The survey finds that the unaffiliated are concentrated among younger adults, political liberals, and people who take liberal positions on same-sex marriage," stated the Pew researchers responsible for the report. (5) The study also revealed that seventy-two percent of the Nones expressed support for abortion, whilst seventy-three percent support same-sex marriage. (6)

Even as some men proclaim that Christianity is dying, a theoretical cosmologist at the California Institute of Technology by the name of Sean Carroll has expressed hope that the scientific community may someday be able to disprove the existence of God. "As we learn more about the universe, there's less and less need to look outside it for help," Carroll stated. (7) It is also interesting to note that a recent survey performed in the United Kingdom found that more respondents believe in the existence of space aliens than those who believe in God. Regarding the results of the survey, Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator at the U.K. Ministry of Defense stated, "In the case of religion, we have only faith - faith based on some ancient texts where, despite the claims, no divine origin can be proven. Even where people claim to have had a first-hand experience, why should we believe accounts of miracles and visions any more or less than UFO sightings or claims of alien abduction?" (8)

We know from the Scriptures that as we progress through time, and draw ever closer to the return of our Saviour, many people who once embraced Christianity will fall away from the faith. It was this realization that prompted Jesus to say in Luke 18:8, "… Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Thankfully, we know that there will always be a remnant in the Kingdom of God, and all of Satan's efforts to destroy us will come to naught. For as it tells us in Joel 2:32, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call." You have an opportunity to be a part of that remnant if you will dedicate your life to God and obey the commandments found in the Bible. If you have not yet given your heart to God, I urge you to do so now.

A Fierce And Violent Generation!

In II Timothy 3:1-5, the Apostle Paul writes, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." A brief examination of today's current events reveals that the conditions of our time match the description found in the Bible with pinpoint accuracy. One such trait which has intensified in recent days is a demonic fierceness which has engulfed a large segment of the young people in the United States, particularly in larger cities.

In Chicago, Illinois, the city that Barack Obama calls home when he is not occupying the White House, gang violence has become so widespread that a recent news headline asked, "Murders in Chicago: What Can Stop The Bloodbath?" (9) As of September 23, 2012, nearly 400 murders have been committed in Chicago, which represents a twenty-five percent increase over the entire year of 2011. (10) The shocking mentality of the city's gang members was revealed in recent interviews performed by a reporter of the local CBS affiliate in Chicago. When reporter Walter Jacobson asked one of the gang members what the solution to the violence would be, the gang member replied, "There's no solution to the violence. Killing, killing is the solution." (11) Responding to another query regarding how gang members obtain money, another young man answered, "Rob, steal, and kill. That's the only way." (12)

Much of the violence perpetrated in Chicago is sparked by posts on social media websites such as Facebook, according to a report by ABC News. "Social media has led to a lot of killings in Chicago," said Tio Hardiman, the director of a group known as CeaseFire Illinois Cure Violence. He further went on to say, "What happens with Facebook and Twitter, you can say the wrong thing and you don't know who's going to shoot you." (13)

Meanwhile, the crime rate in Detroit, Michigan, has increased to such an extent that the local police department has distributed a flyer warning visitors to "enter Detroit at your own risk." (14) Regarding the present state of affairs in the city, Detroit Police Officer Association attorney, Donato Iorio stated the following, "Detroit is America's most violent city, its homicide rate is the highest in the country and yet the Detroit Police Department is grossly understaffed." Despite the crime surge, the police force in Detroit has been shrinking rapidly in recent months. "These are the men and women who we look to protect us… and police officers can't protect you if they're not there. Officers are leaving simply because they can't afford to stay in Detroit and work twelve hour shifts for what they are getting paid. These police officers are beyond demoralized. These officers are leaving hand over fist because they can no longer afford to stay on the department and protect the public," declared Iorio. He further went on to say that the conditions of the city are "dangerous and war like." (15)

As an example of how dangerous the city of Detroit has become, a mob of forty gang members recently seized a convenience store and beat a clerk who tried to stop them. "They came into the gas station and said 'We own this. This is our hood. This is our gas station. We are going to take whatever we want.' It's a war zone," said the store owner. With the mob unwilling to leave and the Detroit Police Department unwilling to arrest them, police officers advised the store owner that he should hire a security guard. (16) Needless to say, the citizens of Detroit no longer feel safe, and consequently, the population continues to shrink. More than 200,000 citizens have left the city of Detroit since 2001. (17)

Shocking incidents of fierce violence have also occurred in smaller cities. For example, six teenage girls were recently arrested in Chester, Pennsylvania, after they brutally beat a mentally challenged woman who had been sitting on her porch. According to reports, the woman was punched, kicked, and struck with a chair by the young girls. There is no known motive for the attack. "It appears just for fun. There hasn't been a discernible explanation as to why," said Police Detective James Nolan. (18)

Another brutal incident took place in Racine, Wisconsin, when two men robbed and beat a man in a wheelchair. According to a report dated October 15, 2012, the two men beat the man, forcibly removed him from his wheelchair, and left him lying on the sidewalk before making off with his phone. "I think they were trying to kill me, I really strongly do," said the victim. (19)

Sadly, the numerous examples of senseless violence we now see in the news headlines are another indicator that masses of people are acting under the bondage and influence of evil spirits. As people continue to move farther away from God, they will only grow increasingly coldhearted and wicked. Jesus warned us that this would be the condition of mankind in the last days. For as it says in Matthew 24:12, "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."

The Dangers Of Genetically Modified Food!

In the book of Genesis, chapter 1, we find the creation narrative which explains how God created the universe, the earth, mankind, plants and animals. In Genesis 1:31 we read, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." However, in these last days, mankind has determined that God's creation is not good enough, and consequently has begun manipulating nature, particularly in regards to the genetic composition of plants and animals.

Today, much of the food produced in the United States contains genetically modified organisms, which are commonly referred to as GMOs. The genetic modifications found in the American food supply and other countries around the world is brought about by splicing genes from unrelated species into the seeds used to produce many of the most common crops. These crops include soy, corn, beets, cotton and alfalfa. (20) In some cases, the genes, which are spliced into the seeds, are not even derived from plants, but rather from animals.

Although the companies which produce genetically modified seeds, such as Monsanto, insist that their products are perfectly safe, some independent studies indicate that there may be long term health consequences when food which has been unnaturally manipulated is consumed by humans. One such study, which was performed by scientists at the University of Caen in France, found that rats that were fed a variety of genetically modified corn known as NK603 for a two-year period had a higher rate of breast cancer and organ damage. (21) The findings of the study prompted the nation of Russia to suspend all imports of NK603 corn until the study could be further evaluated by their experts. (22) Regarding the study, Mustafa Djamgoz, a cancer biology professor at Imperial College in London, England, said, "The results are significant. The experiments are, more or less, the best of their kind to date. We are not scaremongering here. More research, including a repetition of this particular study are warranted." (23) However, the nation of France has rejected the study saying that it did not adequately demonstrate the dangers of the NK603 corn product. (24)

Another study performed by Professor Jack Heinemann at the University of Canterbury in Australia has found a new variety of genetically modified wheat, which was developed by the Australian entity known as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation or CSIRO, could have a tremendously damaging impact if it is consumed by humans. "What we found is that the molecules created in this wheat, intended to silence wheat genes, can match human genes, and through ingestion, these molecules can enter human beings and potentially silence our genes. The findings are absolutely assured. There is no doubt that these matches exist," Professor Heinemann declared. (25) Meanwhile, Professor Judy Carman of Flinders University in Australia has also issued a dire warning regarding this new species of wheat. "If this silences the same gene in us that it silences in wheat - well, children who are born without this enzyme not working tend to die by the age of about five," Professor Carman stated. (26)

At this time, food companies in the United States are not required to provide labeling indicating that their products contain genetically modified organisms. However, this could soon change in the state of California if a new law is passed. On November 6, 2012, the people of California will vote on Proposition 37, which if passed would require all genetically modified food sold within the state to be clearly labeled. The biotech firm, Monsanto, has emphatically opposed the measure, and has spent at least seven million dollars in an effort to prevent the law from passing. (27) Here let it be noted that although government agencies in the United States insist that genetically modified organisms are safe for consumption, Barack and Michelle Obama avoid them, choosing rather to eat organically produced food. (28) Amazingly enough the cafeteria which provides food for the employees of Monsanto has also shunned genetically modified foods. A notice was posted at the locale stating a decision had been made "to remove, as far as practicable, GM soya and maize from all food products served in our restaurant. We have taken the above steps to ensure that you, the customer, can feel confident in the food we serve." (29)

New Warnings Of Potential Disasters!

In August 2012, Scottish Professor Iain Stewart issued a dire warning to the world. The scientist warned that it will only be a matter of time before a catastrophic earthquake strikes a major city and causes a death toll "unprecedented in human history." The reasoning behind his prediction stems from the fact that large cities tend to be built near earthquake faults, and have consequently put masses of people around the world in considerable danger. (30) This unsettling prediction is particularly intriguing when put into context with Bible prophecy. In Revelation 16:18-19 we read, "And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath."

The scientific community has taken new measures to help the people prepare for a major earthquake. On October 18, 2012, over thirteen million Americans participated in a drill as radio stations simulated announcements of a 7.8 magnitude quake. "The natural tendency of people who live in risk areas is to downplay the danger or ignore it. The goal of this is not to frighten people but to give them positive things they can do to prepare and survive," said Lance Webster, one of the drill's organizers. (31) The nation of Israel also performed an earthquake drill on October 21, 2012. The exercise involved the use of television and radio broadcasts to warn Israeli citizens to flee outdoors if possible. Israel had never held an earthquake drill before, and it stood in stark contrast to the usual exercises which simulate missile attacks against the country. "We want people to run into homes during a missile attack, and we want people to run out of homes during an earthquake," said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. (32)

Amidst the attention given to the threat of earthquakes in recent days, it is worthwhile to note that Portuguese researchers recently performed a study indicating that those who experience quakes often suffer from heart complications shortly thereafter. In fact, the research found that the risk of suffering from heart problems increases by sixty percent in the days following an earthquake. (33) When I ponder this new information, I cannot help but think of the words of Jesus in Luke 21:25-26, which tells us, "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." Although it may not always be obvious, our planet is now shaking and quaking on a constant basis. Even as I write this newsletter in late October 2012, The United States Geological Survey is reporting that there have been 7,443 earthquakes in the last thirty days. (34)

Experts have also expressed grave concern over the possibility that the Mount Fuji volcano in Japan could soon erupt. A September 2012 report indicates that the pressure levels in Mount Fuji's magma chamber now exceed the levels present at the mountain's last eruption, which occurred in 1707. (35) Professor Toshituga Fujii of Japan's volcanic eruption prediction panel has warned that the consequences of such an eruption could be severe. "Volcanic rocks will fall near the mountain. Tokyo will be covered in a few centimeters of ash. Yokohama will be under 10 centimeters. Trains will stop, planes won't fly and crops will fail. Millions will be affected," said Professor Fujii. (36)

Remarkably, scientists have also expressed worry over the possibility that the earth's magnetic field is weakening, and threatens the very existence of the human race. "Magnetic north has migrated more than 1,500 kilometers over the past century. In the past 150 years, the strength of the magnetic field has lessened by 10 percent, which could indicate a reversal is on the cards," claimed Conall Mac Niocaill, a scientist from Oxford University. According to a report from Reuters, scientists fear the magnetic field of the earth may all but disappear in about five hundred years. (37)

What we now see happening to our planet is no surprise to the Christian people. We were warned thousands of years ago through the Bible that these calamities would befall the world in the last days. In Isaiah 51:6 we read, "Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished." The earth is truly waxing old like a garment even at this present time. There is no solution for mankind other than to put our hope and trust in God. Let us continue to watch and pray as we watch the signs unfold all around us indicating that our Saviour is coming soon.

More Threats Of Cyber Warfare!

In recent days, United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta has reiterated his concerns that the United States may soon face a "Cyber Pearl Harbor." In a warning issued in October 2012, Panetta stated that attacks on American infrastructure through computer networks could destabilize the country and even prove to be deadly. "An aggressor nation or extremist group could gain control of critical switches and derail passenger trains, or trains loaded with lethal chemicals. They could contaminate the water supply in major cities or shut down power grids across large parts of the country," Panetta declared. (38) There have been suggestions that threats of cyber attacks against the country might be used as an excuse to spy on the American people, although Panetta was quick to deny such intentions. "We're not interested in looking at email, we're not interested in looking at information in computers, I'm not interested in violating rights or liberties of people. But if there is a code, if there's a worm that's being inserted, we need to know when that's happening," Panetta said. (39) In another report, Panetta made the claim that the United States is already facing cyber attacks from Iran. "As I speak, there are attacks going on in this country, cyber attacks, on financial institutions, on banks. Now they're developing the capability to be able to go after our grid, our power grid, our financial systems, our government systems, and virtually paralyze the country," Panetta fretted. (40) William Robertson, an assistant professor at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, agreed with Panetta. "I don't think it's hyperbole. These kinds of attacks that he's talking about have actually been going on for quite some time. And they've been increasing in intensity lately," Robertson said. (41)

Barack Obama's Strange Endorsements!

As I write this newsletter, we are less than two weeks away from knowing whether or not Barack Obama will be given four more years in the White House. It is truly remarkable how much damage the man has been able to cause since January 2009, and I find it difficult to fathom what the next four years may hold. For those who wonder what Obama's true agenda may be, we are able to glean some insight from those who endorse him. One of Obama's earliest endorsements for 2012 came last year from the Communist Party USA. While the chairman of the party, Sam Webb, admitted that there had been some disappointments with Obama, he asserted that Obama is still the best man for the job. "Neither party is anti-capitalist, but they aren't identical either. Differences exist at the levels of policy and social composition. And despite the many frustrations of the past two years, the election of Barack Obama was historic and gave space to struggle for a people's agenda," Webb stated. (42)

Barack Obama has also received an endorsement from Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. In a television appearance, Chavez stated, "Obama is a good guy." He also told his audience that he would vote for Obama if he could and that he believes Obama would return the favor and vote for him if it were possible. (43) The daughter of the communist dictator, Raul Castro of Cuba, also communicated her support for Obama. "I believe that Obama needs another opportunity and he needs greater support to move forward with his projects and with his ideas, which I believe come from his heart," Mariela Castro said. (44) It is my opinion that when communists and dictators are lining up to endorse a man, it sends up an enormous red flag. (No pun intended.) However, we need to remember that whether Obama is given four more years or not, ultimately God is in control. He will only allow the forces of darkness to progress so far before he fully stops them in their tracks.

In closing, I wish to express my gratitude to those who so graciously support this ministry. Thank you for your financial support, kind letters, articles and newspaper clippings. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and strive always to follow the will of God as we watch and pray in this tremendously important period of time. I know there is much wrong in the world, but we know our God will be with us every step of the way as we endure until that great and notable day when our Saviour returns. If you have any prayer requests, please do not hesitate to send them our way. We always give each prayer request individual attention, and we have seen countless prayers answered over the last thirty-one years of this newsletter's publication. Grace and peace be unto you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
