WATERBOARDING

IS TORTURE HUMANE?
THIS PAST WEEK, GOVERMENT OFFICIALS WERE DEBATING THAT WATERBOARDING (DROWNING BY DEGREES) WAS NOT CRUEL. WHEN IS INFLICTING PAIN AND CAUSING ASPHYXIATION CONSIDERED ACCEPTABLE?
NOW, OUR ADMINISTRATION IS TRYING TO IGNORE THE GENEVA CONVENTION, AND CHANGE THE DEFINITION OF TORTURE. WE NOW SEE OUR GOVERNMENT RETROGRESSING TO MEDIEVAL STANDARDS WHEN IT RELATES TO TREATMENT OF PRISONERS, WHICH NOW "THEY" ALTERNATE WITH, ENEMY COMBATANTS.
DOES THIS REMIND ANYONE OF THE INQUISTION? THAT TYRANNICAL SYSTEM UTILIZED BY THE EUROPEAN FEUDAL KINGDOMS. DOES THE LAND OF THE FREE NOW PROMOTE CRUEL TORTURE, AND PERSECUTION WITHOUT DUE PROCESS?
HAVE WE FORGOTTEN HOW WE BECAME THE HAVEN FOR THE OPRESSED?

HERE'S MY DILEMMA: PARENTS ARE FORBIDDEN FROM (CORPORAL) DISCIPLINING "THEIR" CHILDREN;
YET, THE GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES HAVE THE RIGHT TO PUNISH, TORTURE, AND (KILL)EXECUTE.
HAVE THE SERVANTS OF THE PEOPLE BECOME MORE EQUAL, THAN THE PEOPLE?
