War Signs

"Iran Lighting Many Fires" - Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel

War signs esclated yesterday when the Israeli government began preparations to prepare their people for all-out war!

NEWS BRIEF: "Israel to ready public for 'all-out war' ", By YAAKOV KATZ, The Jerusalem Post, May 31, 2007

"With Iran racing toward nuclear power and IDF preparations for the possibility of a conflict with Syria and Hizbullah in high gear, the Home Front Command plans to launch a publicity campaign to prepare the public for war. Within a few weeks it intends to inform the public about what people need to do in the event of attack."

An Israeli official then detailed exactly how seriously the government took this rapidly deteriorating situation.

" 'Our job is to prepare for an all-out war', Col. Hilik Sofer, head of the Home Front Command Population Division, told The Jerusalem Post Wednesday."

We must watch this situation carefully, for the 40th anniversary of the Six Day War commences on June 5. On this day in 1967, Israel launched a pre-emptive strike which resulted in complete victory over threatening Arab forces and which caused control over Old Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to pass back into Jewish hands for the first time in nearly 2,000 years!

If the Arabs plan to attack Israel on this 40th Anniversary, they just might do so on June 5. If their all-out assault on Israel occurs on that day, I find it interesting to note that the current Hamas Kassam rocket barrage against Israeli targets began on May 14, the 59th anniversary of Israel's re-birth as a nation. The interval between May 14 and June 5, this year, is exactly 22 days.

Furthermore, I pullled my copy of "Number In Scripture", by E.W. Bullinger, to refresh my memory as to the full Biblical significance to the number 40. As I recalled, God used "40" in Scripture -- both Old Testament and New Testament -- as a symbol of preparation, or of getting ready. For over two decades, I have been silently pondering whether God was going to cause Israel to be attacked on the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Six Day War. Now that this moment is upon us, the Arabs have begun what appears to be a classic run-up to all-out war.

But, I need to finish the dissertation about Bullinger's explanation of the full use of the number "40". Not only does this number mean "preparing", but it carries much more meaning.

"FORTY has long been universally recognized as an important number, both on account of the frequency of its occurrence and the uniformity of its association with a period of probation, trial, and chastisement (not judgment, like the number 9) ... but the chastisement of sons and of a covenant people." (E.W. Bullinger, "Number In Scripture", page 266.

In other words, when God brings Israel through a period of "40", He is dealing with them as His "covenant people"! This number is a symbol of God dealing with Israel as His Chosen People. However, as exciting as this understanding is, the next part of Bullinger's expose' is positively riveting.

The number, forty, also "relates to enlarged dominion, or to renewed or extended rule..." (Ibid.)

Wow! What does the Bible prophesy as to what faces Israel as she goes through this End of the Age warfare? It clearly says that Israel will enlarge her borders by re-occupying all the lands which God promised to Abraham! This Biblical promise is called "Greater Israel". We invite you to read an analysis of these "Greater Israel" prophecies by reading our NEWS1698, "ARAB NATIONS CONCEIVE NEW PLAN TO COUNTER A U.S. ATTACK ON IRAQ THAT MAY BACKFIRE, SENDING ENTIRE MID-EAST INTO PROPHESIED CONFLAGRATION!"

This archived article also reminds you that Iran's original plan to counter an American attack on Iraq was to "provoke a massive attack on Israel". While we are not predicting a June all-out war, the war signs "on the ground" are certainly there, plus the 40th Anniversary of the Six Day War is coming up quickly. We can only wait to see how matters work out.
