U.S. CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS SPRING GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Credential applications for media who wish to cover the spring meeting of the
U.S. bishops, June 12-14, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando,
Florida, are now being accepted.

The agenda will include a presentation on the recent Pew U.S. Religious
Landscape Survey and the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA)
research on "Sacraments Today: Belief and Practice Among U.S. Catholics."

Other agenda items include a proposed policy statement on embryonic stem cell
research, a progress update on the Causes and Context study of sexual abuse by
clerics by the John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of
New York, a recommended structure for dialogue between priests and bishops on
the church's handling of sexual abuse allegations, and the new translation of
the Proper of the Seasons of the Roman Missal.

Sessions are open to media on Thursday, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m.-
10:10 a.m. The rest of the meeting includes executive session, regional
meetings and an afternoon of prayer and reflection.
