"By being faithful to our calling as husbands and fathers," Supreme Knight Anderson notes, "we are ultimately being faithful to ourselves."

QUEBEC CITY (Christian Newswire) - The Knights of Columbus - the world's largest Catholic men's organization - will launch a major new initiative called "Fathers for Good" at the opening session of its annual convention on Tuesday, August5th. The new program is a 21st Century evolution of the organization's long tradition of building better marriages and stronger families. A special website for the initiative, www.fathersforgood.org, will launch on the same day.

Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson will announce the fatherhood initiative during his annual report at the 126th annual Supreme Council convention, being held this year in Quebec City, Canada. The Supreme Knight's report, and other portions of the convention, will be carried live on Catholic television networks in the U.S. and Canada, including the Eternal Word Television Network, Salt & Light Television and Catholic TV.

"Fatherhood is a gift, a privilege and a responsibility," Anderson says in a special video message on the Fathers for Good website. "The way in which we accept this gift, acknowledge this privilege and act upon this responsibility will determine the ways in which we will build up the good of our families and our communities."

"By being faithful to our calling as husbands and fathers," Anderson notes, "we are ultimately being faithful to ourselves."

The Fathers for Good website features an array of resources, expert advice and information to help men embrace the vocation of fatherhood and build better relationships with their wives and children. The site includes videos, podcasts and opportunities for questions to be answered through e-mail exchanges, as well as a number of articles by experts writing on fatherhood, marriage, raising good and happy children, men's health and financial issues. The Fathers' Bookshelf section features dozens of top books that address the common interests, concerns and problems of fathers.

The theme for the launch of the website is "A Father's Identity," which offers men resources on how to build a strong, loving and confident identity in a culture that often does not value fatherhood or masculine virtues. The theme of the site will be updated regularly, based on the votes for the next topic which visitors to the site will be able to cast.

Among the highlighted podcasts is New York Giants Super Bowl champion Chris Godfrey explaining how to talk about sex to your children, and pediatrician Dr. Meg Meeker delivering a special message to fathers about theirrelationships with their children.

In keeping with the Catholic identity of the Knights of Columbus, the website also offers sections on male spirituality and building a better relationship with God, topics that are often overlooked on other sites for men.
