PIGS are in a financial bind

PIGS= Portugal, Ireland, Greece, and Spain.
The above mentioned countries (part of the European Union) are experiencing difficulties in their respective economies; Also, they are collectively dragging down the European Union.
So much for the Euro!

BY THE WAY -The United States Dollar gained value compared to the Euro.

On another note:

What do the PIGS have in common besides the EU?

Answer: They are mostly Roman Catholic nations, except for Greece which is Orthodox.
The Greek Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church are very similar;
The main differences are that the Catholics have the Pope and the Greek Orthodox have their Patriarch. Also, the Greek Orthodox use Icons (pictures of saints), and the Roman Catholics use Statues in their churches.

The word Catholic is derived from the Greek adjective καθολικός
(katholikos), meaning "universal". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic.

I wonder if there is any credence to the Protestant work ethic concept when you compare the Reformation nations with Catholic or Orthodox countries?
.
What do you think?
.
I think the facts speak for themselves!
