The Catholic Church on America's Culpability

In less than a year, the U.S. Border Patrol has apprehended more than 52,000 migrant children from Central America. While Congress debates immigration reform, one organization has been quietly working to get to the root of the problem: the Catholic Church, the dominant religious and social services organization in Central America. Bishop Mark Seitz has served immigrant communities for decades as a priest. His diocese in El Paso, Texas cares for many of the undocumented youths who have fled violence and poverty in their home countries, and he has been thrust into the middle of the national immigration debate.
