Stop Blending Religious Liberty With Global Leftism, Please

March 8, 2019 ChurchMouse

`Ello me lads! Mouse here, fresh off a stroll around Turtle Bay in Manhattan. I highly recommend Patsy’s Pizzeria, satisfying my peckish impulses at a reasonable price—a mere 21 Pound sterling.

What I don’t recommend—indeed I recoil at the notion—is the grand Seventh-day Adventist Movement hitching itself to the United Nations through the dubious efforts of one Ganoune Diop. The blighter is singled-handedly demonstrating that timeless cosmological maxim: Any nation, organization, or individual will eventually and ultimately be liberalized, save for a conscious decision to resist it. But I digress.

The United Nations

The United Nations is not simply inept, like the League of Nations was.

It came together in 1945 as an artifact of another age, even as its delegates marched into the modern glass and steel building on Turtle Bay. The motivation in favor of its organization—persuasive at the time—concealed the fact that it was built to counter the wrong threat. The world’s problems no longer lay with rogue industrialized nations on a conquering spree, but rather with an international ideology determined to subjugate civilization with its own global agenda (think Agenda 21, the Earth Charter, and Agenda 2030).

The UN helped a little during the Korean War, but was of little use against communism, which essentially infiltrated and shaped the UN Agenda. Today, the UN busies itself by making sure its doors are thrown open to an army of Third World dictatorships—for sale to the highest bidder—and by implementing a progressive global agenda. Quite accordingly, the UN is three parts incompetent and one part corrupt (or is it the other way around?). I suppose it doesn’t matter.

Agenda 2030—Sustainable Development Goals

Their most recent agenda is a grab bag of leftist goodies with a few human rights fixations tossed in—known affectionately by misty-eyed liberals as the Sustainable Development Goals. Or Agenda 2030, for short.

On paper, the Sustainable Development Goals are: poverty, hunger, health, education, global warming, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment and social justice (I presume they want to end poverty and hunger—and increase gender equality and social justice).

I daresay, who isn’t against ending poverty and hunger? All Bill Clinton had to say, under duress for his moral transgressions in the 1998 impeachment hearings was “I just want to feed the hungry children.” Goodbye heel. Hello hero. Glitterati movie stars, celebrating their fourth award for yet another licentious cinema flick are wont to say “I’m working to end world poverty.” Goodbye smuttiness. Hello greatness.

But the real UN Agenda, on display in Agendas 21 and 2030, is implementing global leftism amidst the empty shriek of self-righteous human rights outrage. Weary of the transcendent Law of God, they seek to make us the multilateral shell of international organizations, assigning to themselves the task of fashioning a New Moral law for a New Global machine. In that New Law, human justice prevails over all. Social justice!

It's not that the multicultural society is an unheard of thing. Africans and Pakistanis have been changed by their exposure to jolly old England. And England (God save the Queen) has been changed by its exposure to them. But it is generally the worst qualities that have been passed to each side, especially recently as grinning Muslim rape hordes have invaded the British commonwealth.

While liberal elites parcel out the carbon atoms of the North Pole, their anorexic souls are being carved up into offerings placed upon the altar of multicultural new world order. And they are taking us with them.

Adventists Wonder After The UN

On January 29, 2019, the Seventh-day Adventist Church helped to organize a symposium at the United Nations (UN) Secretariat in New York City, New York. The theme of this meeting was how church organizations can assist the UN in achieving its 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Various speakers, including Ganoune Diop, urged faith-based organizations to join in promoting this agenda—creating a harmonious multicultural paradise, constructed on the sands of social justice.

But Diop can’t have it both ways. He can’t beat the drum for the United Nations Agenda 2030, and then declare that it’s part of the Three Angels Messages. You can virtue signal for the UN Agenda or be faithful to the Three Angel’s Messages. But you can’t do both at the same time. Here’s why.

First, Agenda 2030 is an undisguised roadmap to Global Socialism. Top globalists such as former NATO chief Javier Solana, a socialist, are celebrating the plan, which the summit unanimously “approved,” as the next “Great Leap Forward” — yes, the old campaign slogan of the Chinese Communist Party. Officially dubbed “Agenda 2030,” the UN plot, as its full title suggests, is aimed at “transforming” the world. It also dovetails nicely with the deeply controversial UN Agenda 21, including much of the same rhetoric and agenda. But the combined Agenda 2030 goals for achieving what is euphemistically called “sustainable development” represent previous UN plans on steroids — deeper, more radical, more draconian, and more expensive. It seeks to change the world apart from the Everlasting Gospel. And this is what Diop is pushing.

Sustainable Development Goals

The target of Goal 3, ensuring “healthy lives” and “well-being,” is: “Achieve universal health coverage,” including “vaccines for all.” Universal access to “mental health,” along with “sexual and reproductive health-care services” — code words for abortion— is also included. All governments are expected to integrate such services into their “national strategies and programmes,” the agreement demands.

Goal #5 is devoted to ensuring that all children, everywhere, are transformed into what the UN calls “agents of change,” ready to push forward the plan for the new global order,

“Children and young women and men are critical agents of change and will find in the new Goals a platform to channel their infinite capacities for activism into the creation of a better world,” the agreement explains.

Goal #4. “Sustainable” children for global citizenship in the new order will be accomplished via what the UN misleadingly refers to as “education.” In the UN document the word “education” alone is mentioned more than 20 times. And throughout the agreement, the UN openly advocates the use of schools to indoctrinate all of humanity into a new set of values, attitudes, and beliefs in preparation for the new “green” and “sustainable” world order (Green New Deal anyone?). The UN’s education agenda also puts sex “education” front and center. Considering what the UN means by “sustainable development” — population control, central planning, global governance, and more — the agenda for your children takes on an even more sinister tone. Inclusive is code for sexual identity non-discrimination. Population control is idolized as a carbon footprint reduction—less people to violate the natural order of the planet.

Goal #16. There were numerous efforts by LGBT advocates (including Samantha Powers, Obama’s UN ambassador) and their allies, especially in the women’s health and reproductive rights community, to include specific references to sexual orientation and gender identity wherever marginalized and vulnerable groups were mentioned in the Document. However, several countries were opposed to language for LGBTQ rights, including Russia, most African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries. Thus, they broadened the language to “inclusive societies” and sexual and reproductive health and rights, so it can encompass LGBT issues (Goals #16, 4, 8, 9, 11). This allowed 193 countries to ratify Agenda 2030.

Goal #13. According to the UN, and every other leftist on the surface of the Earth, we must take urgent action to combat climate change by regulating emissions. They are pushing the Paris Climate Summit as a way to force all humans into sustainable development, and establishing Agenda 2030 as the only way to tackle climate change. This is radical environmentalism on steroids. Josef Stalin and Adolph Hitler are likely rolling over in their graves “WHY DIDN’T WE THINK OF THAT !!???”

Even the world’s leading religious figure, Pope Francis, addressed UN member governments with a plea to support the UN goals. “The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development ... is an important sign of hope,” he declared, before demanding a UN “climate” regime as well.

Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, a spokesman and author for the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation, touches on the anti-Christian element of the global “sustainability” agenda. He also points out how the agenda is completely incompatible with Christianity and a biblical worldview — a major reason why the attacks against Christians and the Bible are accelerating around the world.

Abortion

The United Nations has long been a supporter of abortion services through their Human Rights Council. By supporting Agenda 2030, Diop is carelessly supporting worldwide legalized abortion. In his presentation during the first session of the day, Diop laid out a rationale for why religious organizations can and should be involved in the issue of sustainable development funding. Notice the heavy irony of his statement at the January 29, 2019 United Nations Symposium,

“There is a clear and powerful theme woven throughout the Christian Scriptures, and through many other religious texts, focused on justice and the protection of human life and dignity,” he said.

The Sustainable Development Goals are aimed at producing a “flourishing of human life,” said Ganoune Diop, director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty for the Adventist Church, and one of the founding organizers of the symposium series.

This isn’t religious liberty at all. It isn’t even common sense. To support and call for funding of the UN Agenda (which has repeatedly demanded worldwide legalized abortion) on one side of your mouth, and call for the protection of human life on the other side, is hypocritical mass confusion.

ADRA (which is a miniature SDA version of the United Nations) is also in full support of the UN 2030 Agenda.

According to a 2012 report by the American Life League, ADRA is supportive of abortifacients. According to this report, ADRA received $2,903,159 from Catholic Relief Services, part of which is alleged to purchase contraception and abortifacients. Contraception is a nothing-burger (to quote the Yanks) but abortifacients raises ethical questions.

Questions for Ganoune Diop in Particular and Adventist PARL in General

Please provide evidence as to why you believe the United Nations’ version of “social” justice is right and biblical justice is wrong.

Please provide evidence why involving our Church in a leftist organization as corrupt and incompetent as the United Nations is right.

Please provide evidence where killing our youngest children is right and fighting to protect them from the “killing fields” of a political party hell bent on their execution is wrong.

Please provide evidence where the state defining marriage (a sacrament of the Church) is right and fighting to keep the state out of the church’s business is wrong.

Please provide evidence that it is God’s will that the SDA Church align itself with political liberalism (or any politics for that matter).

Please provide evidence where indoctrinating the world’s children in schools committed to moral nihilism is right and “training up our children in the way they should go..” is wrong.

Summary

Over the last 25-years, the Adventist Church’s Religious Liberty department has become increasingly hostile towards conservatism and increasingly intimate with political liberalism. This imbalance has led them to forge alliances like the one above, and feel completely justified in doing so.

Today as never before there is an Adventist cottage industry dedicated, not to educating people, but to making them feel enlightened. I call it manufactured intelligence (or inbred liberalism). From pillar-eroding sermons by liberal SDA thought leaders and paradigm-shifting clambakes (such as the One Project) that promise to transform your view of the world, manufactured intelligence has become its own culture in western Adventism. “We know what’s best for you and will continue to dazzle you with content from the Review and other publications that speak much and say little.“

We all know that Last Generation Theology is for morons, and Desmond Ford was a genius. We have been told this from the Seminary and theological lapdogs throughout Europe and the NAD, across the pond. We know that social justice is the pinnacle of righteousness, the epitome of genuine faith towering loftily over the Everlasting Gospel and LGT. We have been told this from the self-promoting mediocrity of Division presidents and regional social justice warriors.

Leftism is the new religion for these political technocrats. Righteousness has been redistributed. Anyone can get an A for showing up. Salvation is no longer predicated on conversion but has been democratized. Everyone gets a trophy in the new social justice Twitter paradigm.

The great sustainable Utopian project of the United Nations is a rotting stench that blows across the Earth. It is a formless dream that dies alone in a corner without the Law of God and the Lawgiver. It is a million conferences and a billion regulations. It is a world where unbeknownst to them, every man is weighed and found wanting (2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 2:6).

Manufactured enlightenment isn't smart. It's dumb. It's as dumb as building windmills for sustainable energy in places where the wind hardly blows, as dumb as calling inflated budgets "investments" and as ignorant as believing that a man is smart because he can reference poverty in the Third World. It is a future without a future.

Bottom line? Our PARL department leaders would be rather better off spending their time in Patsy’s Pizzeria, than the United Nations building.

Now, I shall scamper back to West Hougham.

Cheerio,

ChurchMouse
