MANILA, Philippines -- Fifty people were injured when the floor of a disco hall in a resort in Negros Occidental collapsed during a Christmas party Sunday, a police official said Monday.
Around 200 employees of GTY Trading were celebrating at the Laura Beach Resort and restaurant in Cadiz City when the left wing of the disco hall suddenly collapsed at around 4 p.m. Sunday, said Chief Inspector Rico Santotome, Negros Occidental police spokesman.
Fifty were injured, including one employee who suffered serious injuries because of the incident. All victims were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, Santotome said.
Police are now looking into the cause of the accident.
