AOC speaks at pro-LGBT Catholic church on ‘our trans brothers and sisters’

By permitting AOC to speak from the pulpit, local Church leaders appear to be giving tacit approval to her far-left politics, even though they contradict Catholic teaching.

(LifeSiteNews) — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known as AOC, spoke from the pulpit at a Catholic church this week, co-opting the authority of the Church to accuse conservatives of making Catholics “turn against … our trans brothers and sisters and neighbors and siblings.”

By permitting AOC — the nation’s leading democratic socialist and 2028 presidential hopeful — to speak from the sanctuary at All Saints Catholic Church in Syracuse, New York, local Church leaders appear to be giving tacit approval to her politics — even though she directly contradicts Catholic teaching on transgenderism, homosexuality, and abortion.

The same parish held a “Pride Mass” in June 2025, where an LGBTQ “pride” flag with a cross superimposed over the rainbow colors hung over the altar. No crucifix is visible.

“If you try to list the sacrileges, you’ll lose count,” noted Daniel O’Connor, who posted a video of the offensive service on X.

“Those poor children. Lord, save your Church,” prayed O’Connor.

“I watched to the end and not only did he refer to the Holy Spirit as ‘she’ but allowed a layperson to preach the homily, made up his own Eucharistic prayer and pronounced the final blessing in the name God who is a ‘Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier,’” said Fr. Dwight Longenecker.

“So on Trinity Sunday an obvious Trinitatian heresy,” he added.

Gaza Catholic school reopens, welcoming 1,000 students

The building sheltered more than 450 people displaced by bombardment. Now, the parish hopes the school can give children a sense of safety and routine amid the destruction.

Holy Family School in Gaza City reopened Sept. 15 for about 1,000 students, serving families from Holy Family Catholic Parish and the wider community, according to Aid to the Church in Need (ACN).

Before the war, five Christian schools operated in Gaza — three Catholic, one Orthodox, and one Evangelical — and Christian pupils attended different schools across the territory.

George Akroush, director of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem’s Project Development Office, told ACN that around 130 Christian pupils, about 13% of the student body, would attend Holy Family School. Most of the school’s students are Muslim.

“For the first time, all Christian students in Gaza will be studying together in one Christian school,” Akroush told an ACN delegation visiting the region. “This creates a strong sense of community and shows that the Church remains close to them, accompanying them in the midst of all they are going through.”

Before reopening, the school sheltered more than 450 people displaced by Israeli bombardment, according to ACN. Holy Family parish priest Father Gabriel Romanelli said staff worked to make the school a place where children could feel safe amid the destruction in Gaza.

“For the students and the families, reopening the school will bring some sense of normality. We have worked hard to ensure that it is a safe environment,” Father Romanelli told ACN. “There is almost nowhere in Gaza that has not been destroyed; destruction is all around. But we have worked hard to make the school a clean environment, where the children, who have been through so much, can feel safe.”

Father Romanelli said “the needs in Gaza are enormous.” The parish hopes to offer families some sense of normality, he said, “even though nothing is normal in Gaza.” After Sunday Mass, he takes parishioners to a beach in Gaza City for recreation, despite the rubble there.

The school will also provide support for children and teachers affected by the war.

“Many of the teachers are so traumatized, and it is almost as if they are not the same people who we knew before the start of the war,” Father Romanelli told ACN.

He said the school has added special psychosocial support to its program and plans to offer activities after classes. Children have asked him to keep the school open because they have nowhere else to go, he said.

“Everyone in Gaza is carrying so much trauma,” the parish priest told ACN, adding, “For me, the school is a light in the darkness. It means a lot to people. When they see the 1,000 students coming in their uniforms to the school, it shows them that there is a future.”

Gov. Andy Beshear invokes faith to defend veto of 'anti-trans' bill, slams JD Vance's Christianity

Kentucky’s Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear has suggested that opposition to taxpayer funding of trans procedures for minors that cause irreversible harm, such as infertility and impaired sexual function, is un-Christian.

In a wide-ranging interview with USA Today’s Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page to promote his new book, Go and Do Likewise, Beshear addressed whether he plans to run for president in 2028, and listed Democratic candidates up for election in November who he says offer an alternative for Christian voters who can’t get on board with Republicans and the Trump administration's agenda.

Touting his record of governing an overwhelmingly Republican state, Beshear recalled how he vetoed what he described as “the nastiest anti-trans bill that my state had ever seen,” and falsely claimed it would have eliminated “all medical coverage whatsoever to children” and take away parents’ rights in making healthcare decisions.

“I remember explaining because it’s how I authentically think and believe that if I believe all children are children of God, I shouldn’t want people picking on these kids,” he added.

Beshear made similar comments on “The View” earlier this year as he invoked the parable of the Good Samaritan to justify his position of supporting body mutilation for teens struggling with gender confusion or same-sex attraction.

Rep. Chris Smith to chair hearing on imprisoned Catholic democracy advocate Jimmy Lai

The Sept. 16 hearing is timed just ahead of a planned Trump-Xi summit that Catholic advocates say offers another chance to press for the release of Lai, whose faith played a key role in his opposition to Beijing’s crackdown on democracy advocates.

Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., will chair a congressional hearing Sept. 16 examining the imprisonment of Hong Kong media entrepreneur Jimmy Lai, timed to occur just ahead of a planned Sept. 24 Trump-Xi summit that Catholic advocates have been urging the administration to use as another chance to press for Lai’s release.

Smith, co-chair of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, will lead the Sept. 16 hearing titled, “A Son and Daughter's Appeal to Xi Jinping to Release Their Dad, Jimmy Lai,” scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building and livestreamed publicly. Planned witnesses include Lai's son, Sebastien Lai, who leads the #FreeJimmyLai campaign; Mark Clifford, president of the Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong Foundation and author of a Lai biography; and a senior China researcher from the Heritage Foundation.

The hearing follows a year of escalating diplomatic appeals. After a May summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing, President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he had personally raised Lai’s case, but that Xi’s response “was not positive.”

"He told me that would be a tough one," Trump said, contrasting it with China's apparent openness to releasing detained pastor Ezra Jin.

A bipartisan group of more than 100 lawmakers had urged Trump before the trip to press Xi on Lai’s behalf, warning his continued imprisonment risked becoming “an irreversible tragedy.” China ultimately released Jin in July, a move human rights advocate Nina Shea argued in the National Review showed Xi retains full power to free Lai as well, dismissing suggestions that Hong Kong's legal system ties his hands as “laughable.” Shea noted Trump and Xi were due to meet again in September in Washington, giving the President “another shot at freeing Lai.”

Gooden EXPOSES SPLC: "Burn a Catholic Church — NOT Hate. Hold a Christian Rally — HATE GROUP?"

Inside Congress

Jun 13, 2026
Rep. Gooden left the SPLC president speechless after exposing a shocking double standard — conservative Christian groups like Alliance Defending Freedom and Turning Point USA are on the SPLC hate map, but Antifa and Jane's Revenge — the group that burned down Catholic churches and pregnancy resource centers — are not.
Then came the bombshell — the FBI used SPLC material to classify Catholics as violent extremists during the Biden administration.
Gooden's response? "Add me to your hate map. I'd be honored." What do you think? Is the SPLC still credible? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.

Who is Zbigniew Brzezinski? What is the Technetronic Age? A Reading and Analysis of Between Two Ages

The Logical Shaman Feb 14, 2025

A Book Club reading and analysis of Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era by Zbigniew Brzezinski.

Zbigniew Brzezinski was advisor to multiple Presidents and creator of organizations such as The Trilateral Commission and predecessor to modern day globalists like Klaus Schwab and their Great Reset. A foundation to any modern day understanding of global politics and the direction and manipulation of society at large. Zbigniew predicted the rise of the internet, social media and modern day influencers and acted as a Nostradamus of modern day propaganda. Unlike Nostradamus, though, Zbigniew was a mover and a shaper, and in this book he lays out his vision for America and the globe in the 21st century.

Pope Leo: ‘The good of the beloved Venezuelan people must prevail over every other consideration.’

In his first public comments since the U.S. military operation that captured Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro on Jan. 3, Pope Leo XIV called for “safeguarding the country’s sovereignty” and “ensuring the rule of law enshrined in the [Venezuelan] Constitution.”

Speaking at his Sunday Angelus on Jan. 4, the American-born pope said he was following developments in Venezuela “with deep concern,” adding, “The good of the beloved Venezuelan people must prevail over every other consideration.”

“This must lead to the overcoming of violence, and to the pursuit of paths of justice and peace, guaranteeing the sovereignty of the country, ensuring the rule of law enshrined in its Constitution, respecting the human and civil rights of each and every person, and working together to build a peaceful future of cooperation, stability and harmony, with special attention to the poorest who are suffering because of the difficult economic situation,” the pope said.

Mr. Maduro and his wife were captured by U.S. special forces in a nighttime raid on Venezuela’s capital city of Caracas on Jan. 3. They have been taken to the United States, where they are expected to be charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine-importation conspiracy and weapons charges in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The attack followed weeks of escalating tensions between the two nations, as the United States accused Maduro of being a “narco-terrorist” and sought to interdict shipping coming to and from the South American nation. Venezuelan officials said at least 40 Venezuelans were killed in the American attack.

Between the Tigris River and Hope: A Father's Vision for Iraq's Future

We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

—Romans 8:28

The nightmare of my brother's assassination (in a car) in Baghdad, Iraq has never left me.

Like an interminable shadow, it hovers over me, pressing against my chest until I can hardly breathe. At times, I feel as though I am inside that crushed car with him, unable to escape.

When the news of his death reached us, I was at my family's home (in Baghdad).

The weight of it sank into the walls, into the silence that followed. A few days later, I felt obliged to go to the scene to see where his life had ended, to try to understand what had happened.

I've learned that the combination of grief and faith asks us to believe in something we cannot yet see — to quote St. Paul, "all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose," Romans 8:28.

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 19 - Father Gabriel Romanelli, the priest of the Catholic Holy Family parish in Gaza, spoke of the death and destruction taking place in the enclave on Friday in a video message transmitted in Naples Cathedral for the feast of the city's patron, Saint Januarius (San Gennaro). "The situation continues to be very serious throughout the Gaza Strip with the bombings," he said. "A war situation continues and the death that has already taken away tens of thousands of people continues: more than 18,000 children have been killed and the hostages still have not experienced the right to live in freedom, the wounded and the sick still have no possibility of treatment because the hospital lacks everything. The weapons have taken over." Romanelli said that he was staying put after Israel launched its offensive to take control of Gaza City on Tuesday, when the Vatican said Pope Leo XIV had telephoned him to express his "concern" and assure him of his "prayer and closeness". Romanelli was among several wounded in a strike by Israeli forces on the Holy Family Catholic Church that killed three people in July. Before his death in April, Pope Francis had spoken by phone nearly every day with Romanelli to check up on the Gaza parish following the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023. (ANSA).
