Socialist Zohran Kwame Mamdani called for ‘abolition of private property,’ resurfaced video shows
Published July 17, 2025, 6:23 p.m. ET
New York City socialist Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is being ripped for advocating “the abolition of private property” — as a video resurfaced of him touting the radical position this week.
“If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing — whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it a statewide housing guarantee — it is preferable to what is going on right now,” Mamdani said in the video shared by RNC Research.
“People try to play gotcha games about these kinds of things. Look, I care more about whether somebody has a home.”
The RNC reposting of the old clip — first appearing on the “End Wokeness” group’s X site — is a strong indication that GOP officials will seek to tie Democratic opponents to Mamdani in the 2026 congressional midterm elections, especially if he wins the mayoralty.
Suggesting or supporting stripping owners of property rights without just compensation is controversial and in some instances, illegal.
Mamdani, in another resurfaced clip, talks up “seizing the means of production” — a policy long advanced by Marxists.
President Trump has called Mamdani a “communist.” He identifies as a Democratic socialist.
“Mamdani will be a gift to Republicans,” said New York State Republican Party chairman Ed Cox.

Pope blasts new arms race, lack of climate action
Vatican releases Leo XIV's message for Day of Migrants, Refugees
ROME, 25 July 2025, 14:14
ANSA English Desk

Pope Leo XIV blasted the new arms race and the failure to address the climate crisis and social inequality in his message for the Catholic Church's World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR).
"The current global context is sadly marked by wars, violence, injustice and extreme weather events, which force millions of people to leave their homelands in search of refuge elsewhere," Leo said in the message, which the Vatican released on Friday before this year's WDMR on October 4-5.
"The widespread tendency to look after the interests of limited communities poses a serious threat to the sharing of responsibility, multilateral cooperation, the pursuit of the common good and global solidarity for the benefit of our entire human family.
"The prospect of a renewed arms race and the development of new armaments, including nuclear weapons, the lack of consideration for the harmful effects of the ongoing climate crisis, and the impact of profound economic inequalities make the challenges of the present and the future increasingly demanding.
"Faced with frightening scenarios and the possibility of global devastation, it is important that there be a growing desire in people's hearts for a future of peace and of respect for the dignity of all".
The pope said that migrants and refugees "stand as messengers of hope" in a world darkened by war and injustice.
"Their courage and tenacity bear heroic testimony to a faith that sees beyond what our eyes can see and gives them the strength to defy death on the various contemporary migration routes," he said.

Christian family kicked out of their home for refusing to convert

A Christian family has been barred from their village in India after refusing to convert to Hinduism, an international Christian human rights organization has reported.
A man identified only as Vikram, his wife and their five children had lived in their Hindu-majority village in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh for years before villagers stormed their home and kicked them out on June 16, the International Christian Concern (ICC) said.
Christians are facing persecution in India, according to the ICC and other organizations, amid a push for India to become a Hindu nation.
Newsweek has contacted India's Ministry of Minority Affairs for comment via email.
The Context
This expulsion highlights intensifying religious pressures in India, where Hindu nationalist groups and politicians increasingly advocate for a Hindu-majority identity and stricter legal boundaries for religious minorities.
Forced conversions, social boycotts, and anti-conversion laws have contributed to a climate of fear among Christian communities—particularly in states such as Chhattisgarh, where such policies are most aggressively enforced.
There were 160 reports of violent attacks against Christians in India last year, the European Centre for Law and Justice reported in March, including attacks on church and prayer meetings and physical assaults.
The insights provided by the currency in circulation regarding the economy

Within nine years of its launch, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has emerged as the leading digital payment platform, recently clocking 650 million transactions and surpassing Visa, which is one of the oldest and largest digital payment networks. Notably, Visa recorded a daily average of 640 million transactions in FY24. This trend might suggest—or even mislead people into thinking—that India is steadily becoming a less cash-dependent economy. However, an examination of the cash in circulation (CIC) in the economy between the demonetisation period, i.e., November 2016, and today shows that CIC has more than doubled from Rs 17 lakh-crore to Rs 37 lakh-crore. What explains these two seemingly divergent trends?
CIC is a key indicator for understanding the structure of any economy. The higher the CIC, the larger the informal sector tends to be. CIC also captures public preference for cash over digital transactions. A high level of cash usage can also frustrate the central bank’s initiatives towards financial inclusion. While the absolute amount of cash increases as the economy grows, CIC as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) offers valuable insights into payment habits of people and the effectiveness of monetary policy. Demographics also play a role in demand for cash: young India is more inclined towards digital transactions over cash, while cash usage typically spikes during general and state assembly elections. Households often overlook the opportunity cost of holding cash, resulting in a double whammy: loss of income and the erosion in the real value of money.
How the 'No Buy 2025' trend could help you get your budget on track this year
Ivana Pino · Senior Writer
Mon, July 21, 2025 at 11:44 AM EDT
Sometimes, getting your budget on track starts with a detox to wipe the slate clean and build new habits. Many consumers have taken on no-spend challenges to put themselves to the test and see if they can go a day, week, or month without spending money.
Others have taken it a step further and adopted a “no buy” year to cut out unnecessary spending and focus on what matters. Here’s what you need to know about No Buy 2025 and how to incorporate it into your life.
What is No Buy 2025?
No Buy 2025 is a personal finance trend in which individuals commit to avoiding non-essential (AKA discretionary) purchases for a set period this year, which could range from a few weeks to the full year.
One example of this trend in practice is “No Buy July,” where participants challenge themselves to avoid spending money for the full month.
“No Buy July is like a financial detox,” said Hanna Kaufman, CFP® at Betterment. “For one month, you hit pause on all non-essential spending — think: takeout, impulse Amazon buys, new clothes — and focus only on what you really need.” She explained that it’s a challenge that helps people reset their spending habits, get clarity on their financial priorities, and boost their savings without having to make huge sacrifices.

The Pandemic Aged Everyone’s Brain—Even in Healthy People
July 23, 2025
A study of nearly 1,000 people showed that brain aging was not linked to infection status
By Gemma Conroy & Nature magazine

COVID
The brains of healthy people aged faster during the COVID-19 pandemic than did the brains of people analysed before the pandemic began, a study of almost 1,000 people suggests. The accelerated ageing occurred even in people who didn’t become infected.
The accelerated ageing, recorded as structural changes seen in brain scans, was most noticeable in older people, male participants and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. But cognitive tests revealed that mental agility declined only in participants who picked up a case of COVID-19, suggesting that faster brain ageing doesn’t necessarily translate into impaired thinking and memory.
The study “really underlines how significant the pandemic environment was for mental and neurological health”, says Mahdi Moqri, a computational biologist who studies ageing at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. It’s unclear whether the pandemic-associated brain ageing is reversible, because the study analysed scans taken at only two time points, adds Moqri.
The findings were published today in Nature Communications.
Pandemic effect
Previous research has offered clues that SARS-CoV-2 infections can worsen neurodegeneration and cognitive decline in older people. But few studies have explored whether the pandemic period — a tumultuous time marked by social isolation, lifestyle disruptions and stress for many — also affected brain ageing, says study co-author Ali-Reza Mohammadi-Nejad, a neuroimaging researcher at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Marjorie Taylor Greene explains vote against GENIUS Act

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., explained Friday why she voted against a bill that would regulate some cryptocurrencies.
She wrote in a post on social media platform X that the bill, called the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins, or GENIUS, Act, regulates stablecoins and “provides for the backdoor Centralized Bank Digital Currency.” A central bank digital currency (CBDC) is a digital form of central bank money.
"The Federal Reserve has been planning a CBDC for years and this will open the door to move you to a cashless society and into digital currency that can be weaponized against you by an authoritarian government controlling your ability to buy and sell,” Rep. Greene claimed. “Do you actually trust your government to never do that to you? I don’t.”
The Federal Reserve says in a webpage of frequently asked questions about CBDCs that it would only proceed with issuing one if an authorizing law was enacted. The Fed issued a paper in 2022 on potential benefits and risks of a CBDC but notes in the webpage the essay is “not intended to advance any specific policy outcome."
The National News Desk asked Rep. Greene in an email Friday at 12:40 p.m. to explain how the GENIUS Act “provides for the backdoor” CBDC but did not receive a response by publication. President Donald Trump is scheduled to sign the bill, which passed the Senate and House of Representatives this week, into law at 2:30 p.m.
“Big signing at 2:30 in the White House. Congratulations to our GREAT REPUBLICANS for being able to accomplish so much, a record, in so short a period of time,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “All the Democrats do is complain and criticize, AND GET NOTHING DONE. They are a ‘Party of the Past!’”
Eighteen Democrats in the Senate and 102 in the House voted for the bill. New Jersey Democratic Sen. Cory Booker, who voted for the act, said in a statement Thursday it offers “robust guidelines” for consumers in the country.
“It offers an important starting point for protecting financial security and our broader economy, closing loopholes on foreign-issued stablecoins that pose risks to national security, strengthening federal oversight over stablecoin issuers, and expanding consumer protections in the event of a stablecoin collapse," the senator explained.
Other Democrats, like Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., claimed the bill presents conflict-of-interest risks and lacks critical provisions.

Denmark Bans Burqa In Public, Asks Muslims To Adapt Local Culture Or Leave. Details Inside!
The Denmark government had previously implemented a nationwide ban on burqas and niqabs in public spaces back in 2018!
By Sakshi Singh

Denmark is once again in the spotlight for its tough stance on religious face coverings. For the unversed, the Denmark government had previously implemented a nationwide ban on burqas and niqabs in public spaces back in 2018. Now the Danish government is proposing to expand that ban to include schools and universities.
What Did The Denmark Prime Minister Say About Banning Burqa?
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen recently stated that the country’s democratic values must come first. “Democracy takes precedence,” she said, stressing that religious expressions that conflict with Danish norms shouldn’t be part of the education system. She also made it clear that immigrants who struggle to adapt to Danish cultural values should consider leaving the country.
This proposed extension has stirred a lot of international attention. Human rights organisations argue that the move is discriminatory, especially toward Muslim women who wear face coverings as part of their religious practice. Critics say the policy is not about integration or safety but about singling out a specific group and restricting their freedom of expression.
On the other hand, supporters of the proposal believe the government is taking necessary action to protect secular education and promote gender equality. They argue that face coverings can hinder communication and that schools should be places where openness and equal participation are encouraged. The debate is growing louder both inside and outside Denmark. Some view this as a firm step toward integrating newcomers and strengthening national identity. Others see it as an exclusionary move that could further alienate minority communities.

Latino Catholics are transforming the Church. It’s ‘about time.’
By Michelle Boorstein and
Rachel Hatzipanagos
DES PLAINES, Ill. — Latino Catholics are building more of their own institutions, including a major leadership-training group and the country’s first Latino owned-and-run Catholic retreat center. Spanish-speaking Catholics are reviving shrinking White parishes. And the percentage of Latino Catholics born in the United States — not abroad — is rising.
This is a time of change for Latino Catholics, who now make up nearly 40 percent of the U.S. church, and who some U.S. Catholicism experts predict are likely to become the majority in the coming decades.
Fourteen percent of Catholics born between 1928 and 1945 were Latino compared with 54 percent of Gen Z Catholics born between 1997 and 2005, according to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
“It’s been about time,” Vicente Del Real, 35, said of the prominent, self-built Latino Catholic institutions becoming more common in the United States. Del Real emigrated from Mexico as a teen to Illinois and founded Iskali, a group that supports young Latino Catholics, and Casa Iskali, a retreat center in Des Plaines, Illinois. “I could have said this 50 years ago and it would have been true. There should be another 200 or 300 organizations like ours around the country.”
But the U.S. Catholic Church is still facing significant challenges, including the disruptive impact of the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement policies. Also, Latinos are a bigger share of the U.S. Catholic population, but younger Latinos are fleeing Catholicism, mostly to become religiously unaffiliated.

Love Stronger than Death

Love Stronger than Death
Christ has shown that His love was stronger than death. He was accomplishing man's salvation; and although He had the most fearful conflict with the powers of darkness, yet, amid it all, His love grew stronger and stronger. He endured the hiding of His Father's countenance, until He was led to exclaim in the bitterness of His soul: “My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:46. His arm brought salvation. The price was paid to purchase the redemption of man, when, in the last soul struggle, the blessed words were uttered which seemed to resound through creation: “It is finished.”
Many who profess to be Christians become excited over worldly enterprises, and their interest is awakened for new and exciting amusements, while they are coldhearted, and appear as if frozen, in the cause of God. Here is a theme, poor formalist, which is of sufficient importance to excite you. Eternal interests are here involved. Upon this theme it is sin to be calm and unimpassioned. The scenes of Calvary call for the deepest emotion. Upon this subject you will be excusable if you manifest enthusiasm. That Christ, so excellent, so innocent, should suffer such a painful death, bearing the weight of the sins of the world, our thoughts and imaginations can never fully comprehend. The length, the breadth, the height, the depth, of such amazing love we cannot fathom. The contemplation of the matchless depths of a Saviour's love should fill the mind, touch and melt the soul, refine and elevate the affections, and completely transform the whole character. The language of the apostle is: “I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2. We also may look toward Calvary and exclaim: “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” Galatians 6:14.
Considering at what an immense cost our salvation has been purchased, what will be the fate of those who neglect so great salvation? What will be the punishment of those who profess to be followers of Christ, yet fail to bow in humble obedience to the claims of their Redeemer, and who do not take the cross as humble disciples of Christ and follow Him from the manger to Calvary? “He that gathereth not with Me,” says Christ, “scattereth abroad.” Matthew 12:30.

Devon Franklin's Candid One-Man Show
Producer, Pastor, Filmmaker, Actor, Author, and now star of his own one-man show, Devon Franklin tells Efrem Graham about his newest project. It's a vulnerable look at his real life story, from a never-before-scene perspective. It's an uplifting, inspiring, candid faithbased story of trials and triumph.
"The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives..."
Recently, some people have been talking about hybrids that existed before the Great Flood. According to their interpretation of Genesis, chapter 6, these creatures were the offspring of humans and extraterrestrial beings. They call these supposed creatures NEPHILIM. The strangest part of all is that even some atheists "believe" this...
And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6: 1-4.
Finally, when tempted by the Sadducees about marriage after the Resurrection in Matthew 22: 28-30, Jesus refutes this unfounded Nephelim hypothesis when He answered:
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Georgetown University's influence on American geopolitics and diplomacy
Georgetown University, particularly its Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), holds a significant role in shaping American foreign policy and diplomacy through several avenues:
- Educating Future Leaders: SFS is consistently ranked among the world's best international relations programs. It serves as a training ground for future American diplomats and policymakers, influencing U.S. foreign affairs through the expertise and perspectives of its graduates. The curriculum emphasizes an integrated course of study combining the technical aspects of international affairs with a liberal education and moral values, according to Georgetown University.
- A Network of Influence: Georgetown boasts a deep and influential alumni network in international affairs and public policy, according to the School of Foreign Service - Georgetown University. This network includes high-ranking figures in the U.S. government, such as:
- Seven current U.S. Senators.
- Seventeen current U.S. House of Representatives members.
- Over 75 former U.S. ambassadors.
- Two-term U.S. President Bill Clinton. This extensive network facilitates connections and allows for the exchange of ideas and perspectives between the university, its alumni, and policymakers in the U.S. government and foreign service corps.
- Convening Power of Washington, DC: Situated in Washington, D.C., Georgetown benefits from its proximity to the centers of American power. This location enables faculty to engage with both the theoretical and practical aspects of foreign policy, while students gain valuable experience through internships and interactions with leading practitioners.
- Research and Think Tanks: Georgetown's Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) conducts significant research on international affairs, providing analysis that informs policy discussions. Additionally, many think tanks that play a vital role in shaping U.S. foreign policy have strong ties to Georgetown, such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which was originally founded as part of the university. These institutions generate new ideas, assess existing policies, and provide expert analysis to policymakers.
While Georgetown's influence is evident, it's important to recognize that it does not solely dictate American foreign policy. Numerous factors contribute to the formulation of U.S. foreign policy, including other universities, think tanks, government agencies, and societal pressures. Think tanks, for example, play a vital role in shaping U.S. foreign policy by providing research, analysis, and expert opinion to policymakers, according to Number Analytics. The extent to which these institutions shape official policy is debatable, but their ideas and research often influence government decisions and priorities.

"8647 Comey"

Here's a breakdown:
The Incident: Comey posted a picture on Instagram of seashells forming the numbers "8647" on a beach, captioning it, "Cool shell formation on my beach walk". He later deleted the post.
"8647" Meaning: The number "86" is a slang term with several meanings, most commonly "to get rid of" or "throw out". Some also associate it with violence, meaning "to kill". The "47" refers to Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States. The phrase "8647" has also been used as a way to silently protest Trump.
The Controversy: Republicans and Trump allies interpreted Comey's post as a veiled threat against Trump, even suggesting it was a call for assassination. Donald Trump Jr. specifically accused Comey of "calling for my dad to be murdered".
Comey's Explanation: Comey stated he was unaware of the violent interpretation of "86," saying he believed it was a political message and that he opposes violence of any kind. He told MSNBC he thought the formation was "clever" and created by "somebody with artistic flair" and no "dark intention".
Investigation and Consequences: The U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security began investigating the post. Comey was interviewed by the Secret Service for about an hour. There were also calls from some Republicans for Comey to face legal consequences. It is unclear if the investigation has concluded or what any next steps would entail.
Reactions and investigation:
The post generated strong reactions from Republicans and led to an investigation by the Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security.
Comey voluntarily participated in the questioning for about an hour.
The investigation and the meaning of the post remain subjects of ongoing discussion.

FBI Director James Comey's "Hard Truths: Law Enforcement and Race" speech at Georgetown University
Comey's speech was prompted by the national conversation surrounding race and law enforcement following incidents like the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. He emphasized that racial bias is not unique to law enforcement but exists in all segments of society. Comey urged law enforcement to confront their own biases and work towards building trust with all communities, according to the FBI. He also advocated for improved data collection on police interactions with minority communities to better understand and address systemic issues.
The speech was seen as a significant moment, marking the first time a top FBI official had publicly addressed racial bias in law enforcement with such candor. It sparked a national conversation about race and policing.
Subsequent Events:
Comey also spoke at Georgetown's International Conference on Cyber Engagement in 2016, according to Georgetown University.

Trump announces novel plan to send weapons to Ukraine and gives Russia new deadline to make peace
By Kevin Liptak, CNN
Updated 1:06 PM EDT, Mon July 14, 2025

US President Donald Trump walks on the South Lawn of the White House after arriving on Marine One in Washington, DC, US, on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
CNN —
President Donald Trump on Monday laid out a pair of steps intended to pressure Russia to end its war in Ukraine, including funneling new weapons to Kyiv and threatening economic punishment on Moscow if peace isn’t reached in 50 days, as he grows increasingly disenchanted with his Russian counterpart.
Taken together, the moves amount to a markedly new approach to the conflict, which Trump has worked to distance himself from since taking office in January. Even as he delivered the announcement from the Oval Office, the president argued he wasn’t to blame for the prolonged war.
Still, he appeared entirely fed up with Russian President Vladimir Putin. And he acknowledged American weaponry – however it is delivered – would be necessary if Kyiv is to stave off a full-bore invasion.
“I felt we had a deal about four times,” Trump said, referring to a prospective peace agreement with Russia. “But it just kept going on and on.”
The plan the president unveiled Monday – which would see European nations purchase American weapons, then transfer them to Ukraine – has been under discussion for months, ever since Trump won last year’s election and European officials quickly began deliberating on ways to sustain US weapons shipments to Ukraine under a leader who had vowed to pull back American support.

2025 – Montréal Inclusive Solidarities: Reimagining Boundaries in Divided Times
Inclusive Solidarities: Reimagining Boundaries in Divided Times
Solidarity is a central value practiced across social and labor movements and a key principle underpinning social democracies. It is also a term with many meanings, referring to the cohesion of groups, the development of social policy and welfare states, or the goals and tactics of labor and social movement organizations. Solidarity in all its forms involves an act of political and social imagination – to identify who one is willing to act in solidarity with, or who are the members of one’s ‘imagined community’ (Anderson 1983). How community is defined, and how the boundaries around that community are drawn or imagined, have implications for who is included and excluded in collective action to redistribute power and resources, to demand rights, and to fight oppression.
The theme of this year’s SASE meeting recognizes the importance of reimagining the boundaries that define commitments to and practices of inclusive solidarity, at a time when the most visible trends are toward intensified divisions. Tens of thousands of lives have been lost in wars, invasions, and violent conflicts over the past year alone. Climate change is fueling displacement and famine, while attempts to mitigate carbon emissions encourage organizing for and against policies to reform farming, manufacturing, and energy production. Far right political parties have experienced growing support, with recent major election wins in Europe and Latin America – and a rising share of the popular vote in many countries world-wide. And multinational companies and their investors continue to adapt to a post-COVID global economy through pursuing particularistic interests within and across national boundaries, from opposing proposed regulation of AI and platform work to challenging the right to strike as a critical dimension of the ILO’s fundamental right to freedom of association.

President Trump Credits the ‘Hand of God’ for His Miraculous Survival
Abby Trivett 11:13AM July 11, 2025
President Trump is giving all glory to God for protecting him after last year’s assassination attempt.
Journalist Salena Zito told Fox News about what she witnessed at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally last year, and how the president credited the Lord for his survival afterward.
“I see him grab his ear. I see the blood streak across his face,” Zito said during the Brian Kilmeade Show.
Zito, who was supposed to interview Trump following the rally, said he called her the following day to see how she and her family were doing. In total, Zito says he called her “seven times that day.”
When asked about why he took certain actions while in survival mode, Zito says that he: “[Trump] comes to the conclusion, several times, that it was the hand of God.”
Our history of Sunday celebration and spiritual renewal

Our history of Sunday celebration and spiritual renewal
The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States (LDA) was founded in 1888. That year representatives of six major Protestant denominations met in Washington, D.C. to organize the American Sabbath Union; this name was later changed to The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States. We have been the one national organization whose sole purpose it is to maintain and cultivate the first day of the week as a time for rest, worship, Christian education and spiritual renewal.
Today, we’re now known as Rising Day Ministries of the Lord’s Day Alliance and we seek to create space in people’s lives to be transformed by God through reconnecting, renewing and reinvigorating them in the fullness of Sabbath delight and God’s Shalom.

Sustainability and Economy of Life
“The world today is grappling with a convergence of unprecedented economic, political, social, and environmental crises,” reads the message from the World Council of Churches, World Communion of Reformed Churches, Lutheran World Federation, World Methodist Council, Council for World Mission, and United Society Partners in the Gospel.
The message notes that, while the wealth of multi-millionaires and billionaires continues to soar, the vast majority of people struggle with rising costs for basic necessities, such as food and housing, and declining living standards.
“This deepening inequality has eroded trust in public institutions, weakened democratic systems, enabled corporate influence over state policy, and hindered progress on urgent climate action, reinforcing a vicious cycle of disparity and disempowerment,” reads the message. “We are amid an escalating crisis of biodiversity loss and climate change that threatens livelihoods and poses an existential risk to all life on Earth.”
Climate change also worsens sovereign debt burdens, the message notes.
Our Distinctive Sign
Our Distinctive Sign
The banner of the third angel has inscribed upon it, “The commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Our institutions have taken a name which sets forth the character of our faith, and of this name we are never to be ashamed. I have been shown that this name means much, and in adopting it we have followed the light given us from heaven.... The Sabbath is God's memorial of His creative work, and it is a sign that is to be kept before the world.
There is to be no compromise with those who are worshiping an idol sabbath. We are not to spend our time in controversy with those who know the truth, and upon whom the light of truth has been shining, when they turn away their ear from the truth to turn to fables. I was told that men will employ every policy to make less prominent the difference between the faith of Seventh-day Adventists and those who observe the first day of the week. In this controversy the whole world will be engaged, and the time is short. This is no time to haul down our colors.
A company was presented before me under the name of Seventh-day Adventists, who were advising that the banner or sign which makes us a distinctive people should not be held out so strikingly; for they claimed it was not the best policy in securing success to our institutions. This distinctive banner is to be borne through the world to the close of probation. In describing the remnant people of God, John says, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). This is the law and the gospel. The world and the churches are uniting in harmony in transgressing the law of God, in tearing away God's memorial, and in exalting a sabbath that bears the signature of the man of sin. But the Sabbath of the Lord thy God is to be a sign to show the difference between the obedient and the disobedient. I saw some reaching out their hands to remove the banner, and to obscure its significance....
When the people accept and exalt a spurious sabbath, and turn souls away from obedience and loyalty to God, they will reach the point that was reached by the people in the days of Christ.... Shall anyone then choose to hide his banner, to relax his devotion? Shall the people whom God has honored and blessed and prospered, refuse to bear testimony in behalf of God's memorial at the very time when such a testimony should be borne? Shall not the commandments of God be more highly esteemed when men pour contempt upon the law of God?—Manuscript 15, 1896.

Atlantic Union Seeks to Ban Conrad Vine, Oversteps Authority
July 4, 2025 Fulcrum7 Staff

Back in November, the Atlantic Union executive committee voted to ban Conrad Vine from every pulpit in their union.
The Northern New England Conference believes that the AU acted outside their authority as outlined in the Church Manual. This ban would give higher entities in our organization the authority to circumvent local church business meetings and to impact the standing of members even outside of their Union. They chose to not be a party to this decision, as it undermines the sound, Bible-based practices and procedures outlined in the Church Manual and erodes proper church order.
