Ganoune Diop: “I Never Said I Don’t Preach the Three Angels' Message—That Would Be Nonsense”

Advent Messenger

Jul 3, 2025

While walking down the hallway at the America’s Center Convention Complex—the site of the 62nd General Conference Session—I saw Ganoune Diop approaching. Knowing how busy church leaders are during these sessions, I asked if he had time to answer just one question. He stopped to look at me, and I asked him directly, “Why don’t you preach the Three Angels’ Messages? Why do you only preach Jesus?” As he began to respond, I asked if I could record his answer, and he consented. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to record my question in the video—only his response.

In the video, Diop begins with a public-relations-style answer about all the different approaches to sharing the Seventh-day Adventist. But when he got to the part where he was about to accuse others of fabricating things about him, I politely interrupted him by saying it was in a video from Africa where he said those things in his own words. That’s when he cut me off and declared, “Yes, but I never said I don’t preach the Three Angels’ Message—that would be nonsense.”

Ganoune Diop then stated that he does preach Jesus, insisting that Christ should be the “center of attraction,” as Ellen White affirms. He claims that this was the true intent behind his statements. But then he pivoted, expressing concern that some people reduce Adventism to simply pointing out that other religions are part of the beast power—something he openly opposes.

That’s a troubling stance because it isn’t some fringe group within Adventism pushing that message—it’s God Himself who, through the Three Angels’ Messages, commands the world to avoid the beast, the image, and the mark. To reject that part of our mission is to reject God’s divine warning.

So here’s the video from Africa. In his words, Ganoune Diop clearly states that he only preaches Jesus, not the Three Angels’ Message. Now, after I asked him for clarification on this, as we are told to hold our leaders accountable, he claims he never said such a thing and insists that believing otherwise is “nonsense.” You be the judge.

What’s truly “nonsense” is the idea that some are sidestepping the Three Angels’ Messages in their public witness. The problem isn’t with preaching Jesus. The problem is the omission of the full, distinct, urgent warning given in Revelation 14. You cannot preach the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ while dodging the call to come out of Babylon, the exposure of the beast, and the danger of receiving the mark.

“The present truth, the special message given to our world, even the third angel’s message, comprehends a vast field, containing heavenly treasures. No one can be excusable who says, I will no longer have anything to do with these special messages; I will preach Christ. No one can preach Christ, and present the truth as it is in Jesus, unless he presents the truths that are to come before the people at the present time, when such important developments are taking place” (Manuscript 33, 1897).

Sunday Law at the Gates: Jonathan Berry’s Nomination Heads to a Final Vote in the Full Senate

June 26, 2025 by Andy Roman

Jonathan Berry, known as “Mr. Sunday Law” for his public advocacy of bringing back Blue laws, has officially advanced one step closer to becoming the next Solicitor of the U.S. Department of Labor. On June 26, 2025, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted to move his nomination forward, clearing the way for a full hearing and vote in the Senate chamber. If confirmed, Berry would serve as the top legal officer in the Department of Labor, giving him significant influence over labor policy, workplace regulations, and religious accommodations. His nomination is raising eyebrows among those concerned about the growing entanglement of church and state, particularly in the context of labor reform and Sunday rest advocacy.

The US Senate Newsroom published the following on June 26, 2025:

• “Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee voted to advance eight of President Trump’s nominees at the Department of Education, the Department of Labor, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.” [1]

• “All nominations will now move to the Senate floor for a final vote at a later date. The approved nominations include:” [1]

• “Penny Schwinn to serve as Deputy Secretary of Education, Department of Education” [1]

• “Kimberly Richey to serve as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, Department of Education” [1]

• “Daniel Aronowitz to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration, Department of Labor” [1]

• “David Keeling to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Labor” [1]

• “Jonathan Berry to serve as Solicitor, Department of Labor” [1]

• “Andrew Rogers to serve as Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division, Department of Labor” [1]

• “Andrea Lucas to serve as a Member, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission” [1]

• “Jeremiah Workman to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Veterans’ Employment and Training, Department of Labor” [1]

We are witnessing a dangerous and deliberate shift as politicians and political appointees are no longer concealing their intent to use government as a tool to resurrect and restore Christianity in America. When civil power is hijacked to enforce religious doctrines, the line between church and state is not just crossed—it’s obliterated. This is not merely a misguided political movement; it is the fulfillment of Revelation’s warning about a false revival that will use state authority to enforce worship, leading to the formation of the image of the beast (Revelation 13:13–14).

As lawmakers desperately attempt to “save” society, we will see an increasing push for religious legislation: Ten Commandments displayed on government property, Bible reading and prayer mandated in public schools, and the revival of Sunday as the state-endorsed day of worship. While they may appear as acts of patriotism and morality, they actually mark the start of a prophetic crisis and religious tyranny.

“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near” (Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 451).

Catholic News Agency: “Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists Gathered to Pray Together for the Holy Father’s Speedy Recovery”

March 28, 2025 by Andy Roman

Pope Francis has emerged as the most celebrated and universally revered figure in the world, as people of all faiths—Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and others—unite in prayer for his swift recovery. His message on interfaith unity and cooperation contained in Fratelli Tutti has inspired millions to see the Vatican as a symbol of peace and moral leadership in these last days. In an unprecedented show of global support, people of all faiths, including political leaders, have offered prayers and well-wishes for the ailing pontiff. This is proof that Bible prophecy is on track to its ultimate completion as more and more faith traditions recognize the Pope of Rome not just as the leader of the Catholic Church, but as the guiding light for a world yearning for unity and hope.

On March 12, 2025, Catholic News Agency published the following news about how the religious world is worried about the Pope’s health:
• “The Chaldean patriarch of Baghdad, Cardinal Louis Raphael Sako, said with emotion that most of the Iraqi population has been distressed by Pope Francis’ extended hospitalization and that even Muslims are praying for his recovery.” [1]

• “The cardinal emphasized that Muslims, too, have wanted to show their closeness to him. ‘Many Muslims contact me every day to find out how he is,’ he continued, adding that they hold dear the memory of the Holy Father’s visit to this country four years ago.” [1]

• “Everywhere there were pictures of the Holy Father and the Vatican flag,’ he added.” [1]

• “In addition, young Indonesians of different faiths have also wanted to join the prayers arriving from around the world to the 10th floor of Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where the pontiff remains hospitalized with double pneumonia.” [1]

• “In a gesture of unity and hope, young people and leaders of different religions gathered at Hati Indonesia.” [1]

• “On this occasion, Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists gathered to pray together for the Holy Father’s speedy recovery.” [1]

The Pope Speaks, and the United States and Cuba Obey

January 15, 2025 by Andy Roman

“Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelation 13:4.

Revelation 13:4 reflects the awe and fear that people will feel towards the beast power of prophecy. It highlights the beast’s dominance in both the political and spiritual realms and emphasizes the perception that no one can stand against it, which inspires submission and worship from those under its influence. Instead of honoring God as stated in Exodus 15:11, “Who is like unto thee, O Lord,” the nations will misdirect their worship and allegiance to the beast by declaring, “Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:4).

Pope Francis wields remarkable political influence because the world sees him in a position of universal moral authority. In a historic demonstration of Rome’s global diplomatic influence, Pope Francis is single-handedly ending decades of hostility between the United States and Cuba. By appealing directly to the leaders of both nations, Pope Francis has called for reconciliation and a new way forward. And as soon as the Pope issued his decree, both the United States and Cuba embraced it.

Vatican News published the following on January 15, 2025:

• “Cuba has announced that it will release from prison 553 people convicted of various crimes. The decision was communicated to Pope Francis earlier this month in a letter from Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel.” [1]

• “A statement from Cuba’s foreign ministry notes that the prisoner release takes place in the context of the ‘close and fluid relations with the Vatican State.'” [1]

• “Cuba’s statement came after an announcement by the White House that President Joe Biden has notified Congress of his intent to lift the US designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism as part of a deal facilitated by the Church.” [1]

• “Cuba’s statement on Tuesday said the country maintains ‘a respectful, frank, and constructive relationship with the Vatican and the Supreme Pontiff, which facilitates decisions such as the one recently taken.'” [1]

Not only is Cuba releasing prisoners, something virtually unheard of, but the United States has lifted Cuba’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Pope’s petition led to these two significant shifts in government policy. In other words, when the Pope speaks, the world listens. This unprecedented diplomatic breakthrough reveals that the Pope has the unique ability to transcend political divisions, prompting even long-time adversaries to seek a reconciliatory course in alignment with his vision for the world.

According to Bible prophecy, the first beast of Revelation 13 represents Rome, and it will be a powerful entity that will exert immense authority over the world. It will also collaborate with the second beast, or the United States, to command loyalty and submission to its influence. The problem is that the world will be drawn, through coercion, into the worship of the beast, not realizing that it is aligning itself with a power that is in opposition to the truth of God.

God’s word warns believers to remain steadfast and discerning, recognizing that His truth will prevail, even if the beast seems invincible today. God will have a message proclaimed in these last days that will call people to remain loyal to Christ, His truth, and His mission, which says:

“And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.” Revelation 14:9, 10.

US Senate Committee Hearings on a 32-hour Work Week Argued that People Cannot Attend Church on Sundays if They Work 70 Hours

ADVENT MESSENGER

US Senate Committee Hearings on a 32-hour Work Week Argued that People Cannot Attend Church on Sundays if They Work 70 Hours

March 14, 2024 by Andy Roman

The U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions heard a speech by Connecticut Democrat Senator Chris Murphy on Thursday, March 14, 2024. [1] The committee hearings addressed the need for a 32-hour work week that would give Americans more time for leisure activities such as family socials and Sunday church services. Speaking to Mr. Shawn Fain, International President of the United Auto Workers Union, Senator Murphy said that the reason for the drop in religious attendance is that individuals are simply too exhausted after their week of work. In response, the head of the union reaffirmed that those who work too much don’t have time for worship on Sundays.

The following exchange occurred in our US Congress between Senator Murphy and Union President Fain:

Senator Chris Murphy: “There’s a pretty wild thing happening in America today: in 2000, 70 percent of Americans belonged to a religious institution, but today that number is 50 percent. There has been a pretty precipitous decline in the ability or willingness of Americans to go to church or to a religious institution on a regular basis. And I think that has lots of broad impacts in our society. There are a lot of reasons for that, but one of them is that Americans just have less free time. When you have to work 70 hours to get the same standard of living for your family that 40 hours would have gotten you a few decades ago, you don’t have time to go to Wednesday night Bible study; you might not have the ability to even attend church services on a Sunday. You can talk about church if you want or if you don’t want, but it is just true that some of the leisure time activities, some of the institutions that Americans found value and meaning in, are less accessible when you have to work these long hours. I’d love to just hear your thoughts on that.”

Shawn Fain, UAW President: “One of the biggest, one of the things we talked about was the 32-hour work week when we put that in our contract talks was the fact that we wanted to create work life balance … And as I say when you’re working multiple jobs to live paycheck to paycheck or you’re working seven days a week, 12 hours a day, something else is sacrificed in that, and that’s what ends up happening. You have to sacrifice, you know, the ability to go to church. If it’s something else to do on a Sunday, maybe you get a Sunday off and you haven’t slept all weekend, and you spend the whole day sleeping. I mean that that is a reality a lot of workers face on some of the schedules they work … I do believe Congress has an obligation here, spending priorities and regulations. And that may be an ugly word to some people that represent business.”

Senator Chris Murphy: “Well, listen, I agree with you. I think we should have an interest in leisure time. We should have an interest in making sure that people are able to find value outside of work. A lot of people find value in work, and I’m glad that they do, but a lot of people find more value by the institutions and the social clubs and the churches that they affiliate and spend time with outside of work. But that is just less accessible for people today and that should be a public policy interest of the United States Congress. I appreciate this hearing allowing us to talk about that. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.”

A sitting US senator is urging policymakers to get involved in ensuring that people have more time for church and recreation. According to Senator Murphy, the desire for more leisure ought to be considered a “public policy interest of the United States Congress.” This is a call being made in a Senate committee to reduce the work week, and one of the justifications is so that people can get back to church on Sundays. It’s not simply a call, though. A bill to cut the workweek down to only 32 hours has already been introduced. [2]

“The dignitaries of church and State will unite to bribe, persuade, or compel all classes to honor the Sunday. The lack of divine authority will be supplied by oppressive enactments. Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance. Liberty of conscience, which has cost so great a sacrifice, will no longer be respected. In the soon-coming conflict we shall see exemplified the prophet’s words: ‘The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ’.” (Great Controversy, p. 592).

Adventism’s Prophetic Bulwarks Under Continuing Assault from the New Theology

December 26, 2021 by The Remnant Herald

“The great waymarks of truth, showing us our bearings in prophetic history, are to be carefully guarded, lest they be torn down, and replaced with theories that would bring confusion rather than genuine light.” Selected Messages, volume 2, p. 101 (Manuscript 31, 1896)

If ever there was an expression of INDELIBLE, UNQUESTIONABLE, ABSOLUTE TRUTH that ought to be accepted uncritically, this quote fits that category —

“Satan is constantly endeavouring to attract attention to man in the place of God. He leads the people to look to bishops, to pastors, to professors of theology as their guides, instead of searching the Scriptures to learn their duty for themselves. Then, by controlling the minds of these leaders, he can influence the multitudes according to his will.” (The Great Controversy, pp. 413, 414. 1884 edition; Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 413)

The peril of placing one’s understanding of truth in the hands of a minister or theologian was vividly portrayed by the enemy himself, who declared:

“The people accept their ministers’ explanations of Scripture, and do not investigate for themselves. Therefore, by working through the ministers, I can control the people according to my will.” (Ibid, p. 340. 1884 edition; Spirit of Prophecy, Vol. 4, p. 338).

One of the most startling acknowledgments made in recent decades with regards to doubts and uncertainties that engulf many a theological mind came from none other than Dr. Desmond Ford himself. Whatever the context and intent of his remarks, they highlight how destructive it is, in the name of scholastic freedom, to quibble and speculate over God’s Word:

“No sensible person looks for infallibility in the doctrinal structure of any church. That would be impossible. At the close of a series of more than 100 hours of instruction in one debatable field, I once told my students: ‘Half of what I have told you is wrong, but I don’t know which half.’ Teachers and church leaders at best are only one-eyed leaders of the blind.” Spectrum, November 1988, p. 61. Auburn, California.

It was such lectures by Dr. Ford at Avondale College that alarmed “The Concerned Brethren” — a group of lay people, retired ministers, evangelists, and administrators in Australia who warned our people from the 1970s until their deaths regarding the doctrinal apostasy of the New Theology. In December 1975, they wrote to the leadership of the Australasian Division, declaring:

“We, the undersigned, retired ministers and laymen of the Church, wish to humbly express to you our very deep concern regarding the downward trend of the teaching being given to our trainee ministers at Avondale College — our future leaders.

“At a meeting of some of the responsible and representative older men held recently, many disturbing proofs were cited, concerning the distortions of truth that are being taught these young people. Brethren, we are deeply concerned for the safety of the church of God. There is an attempted shift in the foundations, and we fear that ere long, a tremendous split might well take place in the Church. This must be avoided at any cost, while avoiding a compromise of truth. Subjects such as: righteousness by faith; the age of the earth; the inspiration of the Scriptures; the seventieth week of Daniel; the two-apartment sanctuary in heaven; the Spirit of Prophecy, and a number of other subjects including the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, as believed and taught by the pioneers of this Church, are being undermined by those who lean towards modernist teachings and worldly scholarship in the Theology Department at Avondale.

“As retired workers and church officers, we feel that the established Seventh-day Adventist Church is being white-anted and if not checked immediately, disastrous results will accrue…Our earnest prayer is that God will give you great wisdom and direction, as you consider what should be done to avoid the greatest crisis in the history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Australasian Division.” The Remnant Herald, February 2001, p. 957

America’s Current Moral Decline is Just a Divine Setup for a Spiritual C...

America’s Current Moral Decline is Just a Divine Setup for a Spiritual Comeback

The conservative political radio host and television producer Glenn Beck conducted an interview with the Evangelical Christian actor and evangelist Kirk Cameron on February 19, 2024. During a conversation that was aired on 400 radio stations across the nation and on the Blaze TV streaming service, Kirk Cameron said that a spiritual revival is imminent and that the current pervasive moral and political corruption in society is merely a “divine set-up” where God will intervene to restore our world. In response, Glenn Beck stated, "It has to be. It has to be,” indicating his approval.

Evangelical Christians across the country are working to reshape America and bring our nation back to God through revival. There is no doubt that a movement to radically change our nation is underway, but the coming “religious” revival will not align our nation with the will of God but with the will of Rome. We have been warned that Satan will introduce into the popular churches a counterfeit revival, one that will support Sunday rest by law. Every church will be affected by the coming counterfeit revival, of which the Sunday law movement will be a key component.

“They declared that they had the truth; that miracles were among them; that great power and signs and wonders were performed among them; and that was the temporal millennium that they had been expecting so long. The whole world was converted and in harmony with the Sunday law” (Letter 6, 1884).

There are actually two revivals described in the book of Revelation, not one. The true revival that comes from God is found in Revelation 18:1–5. Under the power of the Latter Rain, the entire earth will be enlightened with the glory of God through the proclamation of the Three Angels’ Messages. But there is also a false revival in which three unclean spirits will come from the dragon (Satan), the beast (Rome), and the false prophets (apostate Protestantism) and will deceive the world through false miracles (Revelation 16:13, 14) during the mark of the beast crisis. The book, Great Controversy, also describes the two revivals in great detail:

“Before the final visitation of God’s judgments upon the earth, there will be, among the people of the Lord, such a revival of primitive godliness as has not been witnessed since apostolic times. The Spirit and power of God will be poured out upon his children. At that time many will separate themselves from those churches in which the love of this world has supplanted love for God and his Word. Many, both of ministers and people, will gladly accept those great truths which God has caused to be proclaimed at this time, to prepare a people for the Lord’s second coming. The enemy of souls desires to hinder this work; and before the time for such a movement shall come, he will endeavor to prevent it, by introducing a counterfeit. In those churches which he can bring under his deceptive power, he will make it appear that God’s special blessing is poured out; there will be manifest what is thought to be great religious interest. Multitudes will exult that God is working marvelously for them, when the work is that of another spirit. Under a religious guise, Satan will seek to extend his influence over the Christian world” (Great Controversy, p. 464).

“Yet none need be deceived. In the light of God’s Word it is not difficult to determine the nature of these movements. Wherever men neglect the testimony of the Bible, turning away from those plain, soul-testing truths which require self-denial and renunciation of the world, there we may be sure that God’s blessing is not bestowed” (Great Controversy, p. 464).

“In the truths of his Word, God has given to men a revelation of himself; and to all who accept them they are a shield against the deceptions of Satan. It is a neglect of these truths that has opened the door to the evils which are now becoming so widespread in the religious world” (Great Controversy, p. 465).

“The sanctification now gaining prominence in the religious world, carries with it a spirit of self-exaltation, and a disregard for the law of God, that mark it as foreign to the religion of the Bible. Its advocates teach that sanctification is an instantaneous work, by which, through faith alone, they attain to perfect holiness. ‘Only believe,’ say they, ‘and the blessing is yours.’ No further effort on the part of the receiver is supposed to be required” (Great Controversy, p. 471).

“The desire for an easy religion, that requires no striving, no self-denial, no divorce from the follies of the world, has made the doctrine of faith, and faith only, a popular doctrine” (Great Controversy, p. 472).

“If men feel no weight of the moral law, if they belittle and make light of God’s precepts, if they break one of the least of these commandments, and teach men so, they shall be of no esteem in the sight of Heaven, and we may know that their claims are without foundation” (Great Controversy, p. 472).
