Modi Calls for Global Governance Reform as BRICS Adopts New Delhi Declaration
09/15/2026 // Edison Reed // 1K Views

Modi called for reforms in representation, responsiveness and rule-making, and for a greater role for the Global South in international decision-making, according to his remarks [1]. The declaration backs reform of the UN and global financial institutions and condemns unilateral coercive measures that are contrary to international law, according to the document cited in coverage [2].
The summit marks 20 years since the first BRIC foreign ministers' meeting in September 2006 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to RT [3]. India holds the rotating BRICS chairship this year and is hosting the leaders' summit, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said ahead of the event [4].
New Delhi Declaration Backs UN, Financial Institution Reforms
The New Delhi Declaration supports giving developing countries greater representation in global institutions and reaffirms the bloc's opposition to unilateral coercive measures that run counter to the UN Charter, according to the document cited in coverage [2]. Modi said "Reforms are essential in representation, responsiveness and rule-making," according to his remarks at the leaders' session [1]. Indian MP Sujeet Kumar told RT that BRICS seeks greater representation for developing nations and argues that the existing governance architecture no longer reflects economic and demographic realities [1].

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a pointed swipe at the existing global governance structure at the BRICS Summit, describing it as a “pyramid of privilege” and calling for it to be transformed into a “platform of partnership.” Modi said the Global South is at the forefront of global crises but remains at the back of decision-making, urging greater representation, responsiveness and participation in global rule-making.

Progressive leaders gathered in Uruguay denounce US interference and acknowledge their own mistakes
Saturday, August 22nd 2026 - 08:28 UTC

The opening session of the third Pan-American Congress, held on Friday at the Legislative Palace in Montevideo, combined criticism of United States policy towards Latin America with calls for self-criticism within progressive forces. More than 150 lawmakers, former presidents, ministers and political figures from fifteen countries are taking part, according to organisers.
Former Chilean president Gabriel Boric delivered the most widely noted speech, calling for consistency between political discourse and action. He criticised what he described as a “new imperialism” driven by Donald Trump and said the major powers “today do not speak of democracy, but directly of oil at the expense of a people.” He then turned a demand on his own allies: “We do not believe that violating international law is the way to intervene illegitimately in another people, but we also have to say very clearly that Maduro had stolen the elections and that his presidency at that time was also illegitimate.” He warned that if the left fails to acknowledge such distinctions, it will struggle to persuade its own electorates.
Nicolás Maduro was captured in Caracas on January 3 during a US military operation and remains in custody in the United States. Delcy Rodríguez has since served as Venezuela's acting president.
Participants questioned Washington's conduct in the region, citing that intervention, strikes on vessels in the Caribbean and sanctions on Cuba, and called for greater regional autonomy. Former Colombian president Ernesto Samper urged a revival of Latin American integration and closer ties with the Global South, arguing the region holds strategic water, food and mineral resources but lacks the political coordination to defend its interests.
US Representative Pramila Jayapal shifted the debate to her own country, saying opposition is growing to taxes being spent on military operations abroad rather than on health services and living standards. She defended a foreign policy based on dialogue and diplomacy as the only route to “a lasting peace.”
Uruguay's vice-president, Carolina Cosse, focused on disinformation and the contest for public attention. “Indifference to truth leads inexorably to totalitarianism,” she warned. Mexican Morena official Carolina Rangel proposed combining economic growth with social rights and called for an agenda covering care policies, energy transition, productive integration and digital sovereignty.
The forum, created in Bogotá in 2024 on the initiative of then Colombian president Gustavo Petro, is organised this year around four themes: peace, security and multilateralism; sustainable development and regional integration; digital sovereignty and artificial intelligence; and wellbeing and care. Sessions continue until Sunday and will conclude at the Parlasur headquarters.

'I'm the boss', Trump tells G7 counterparts
Evian (France) (AFP) – The G7 summit of world powers in France is being chaired by President Emmanuel Macron as host but on Wednesday his guest US President Donald Trump left no doubt over who he believed was in charge.
Issued on: 17/06/2026 - 12:27

"I'm the boss," Trump said as he strode in to the morning session of the last day of the three-day G7 summit, with the other leaders already in their seats.
Amid laughter, Macron appeared to take the comment with good humour. "How are you?" the French president asked.
"Good, thank you," replied Trump, a tycoon before becoming president who famously hosted the TV show "The Apprentice" with its catchphrase "You're fired!", as he finally took his seat.
Fresh from clinching an accord to end the war with Iran and celebrating his 80th birthday, Trump's presence has dominated the summit in the spa town of Evian on Lake Geneva.
French officials will be satisfied that the mercurial US president has stayed for the entire event and signed on to the G7 communique -- in contrast to the previous gathering in Canada, where he left early.
In an unusual gesture, Macron has invited Trump to dinner at the Palace of Versailles outside Paris after the summit winds down on Wednesday afternoon.
Macron, under pressure to show he is not fawning over Trump, has already said the evening at Versailles will not be a "gala" dinner.

Donald Trump: Imposing the World’s Last Superpower

Donald Trump: Imposing the World’s Last Superpower

Dear Friends,
Welcome to Keep the Faith Ministry once again. Today, we’re going to look at the rise of the second beast of Revelation 13, which, as you know represents the United States. There is no other power in the world capable of doing what America can do. There is no other power that can shake the nations and make them worry about things that the old-world order kept out of the conversation. There is no other power that will force its will on the rest of the world. So, let’s begin with prayer.
Our Father in heaven, we sense that Revelation 13 is being fulfilled right before our eyes. Please join us today as we study this important chapter in the Bible and help us understand the effect of American geopolitical reach on your people, and the outcome. Please help us to understand how this prophecy gives us certainty of the future. So, lead us today as we study, in Jesus name, amen.
Turn with me in your Bibles to Revelation 13:11-17.
“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
The second beast of Revelation 13 exercises all the power of the first beast. This means that America is going to rise to greater power than ever before. And she will do incredible geopolitical things that have not been seen in history before. In the dark ages, Rome controlled the world, and she persecuted and slaughtered those who did not agree with her narrative. Many Sabbatarians and others were slain as martyrs. But Rome eventually was throttled by Napoleon’s general and sustained a deadly wound. One of the reasons was that God was going to shift geopolitical power to a land that was then unknown or nearly unknown. Some people wanted to be free of persecution and worship restrictions in England and wanted to worship God according to their consciences, so they came to the shores of America. Miraculously, the American colonies survived and formed the nation and built a powerhouse that cannot be stopped, unless God intervenes. Let’s read from Great Controversy, page 292.

Will U.S. stop it? Russian tanker with desperately needed oil closes in on Cuba
March 25, 2026 Updated Wed., March 25, 2026 at 2:46 p.m.
Antonio María Delgado
A Russian oil tanker carrying hundreds of thousands of barrels of crude is steadily approaching Cuba, setting up a high-stakes test of Washington’s willingness to enforce its tightening energy embargo on the island as it grapples with a deepening fuel crisis.
Jorge Piñón, an energy expert at the University of Texas at Austin, said the vessel — the Anatoly Kolodkin — appears to be maintaining a steady course toward Cuba.
“This morning — when I checked it; I haven’t checked it just now — it was en route to Cuba. It is maintaining a speed of roughly 12 knots,” Piñón said. “I imagine it should arrive sometime within the next six days. However, for the moment, it hasn’t changed either its direction or its speed.”
Ferrying an estimated 700,000 to 730,000 barrels of Russian crude across the Atlantic, the tanker is widely believed by analysts to be heading for the Cuban port of Matanzas, despite broadcasting a misleading destination.
Its approach comes at a moment of heightened geopolitical tension, as the United States seeks to tighten pressure on Havana while managing global energy disruptions triggered by conflict in Iran and ongoing confrontations with Russia.LL

Mob destroys homes of Christian families who wouldn't renounce their faith: report
By Anugrah Kumar, Christian Post Contributor Monday, January 26, 2026
- Mob destroys homes of four Christian families in Maharashtra, India, after they refuse to renounce their faith.
- Attack follows repeated threats pressuring them to abandon Christianity.
- Displaced families remain without shelter in harsh winter conditions.
A mob of Hindu nationalists demolished the homes of four Christian families in a village in India’s Maharashtra state after they refused to abandon their faith, amid a broader surge in violence against Christians across the country. The attack came after repeated threats warning the families to renounce Christianity or face consequences.
A group of about 20 people in Midapalli village, located in the Gadchiroli District, confronted six Christian families, totaling around 25 individuals, and issued an ultimatum, according to the United Kingdom-based advocacy group Christian Solidarity Worldwide.
The mob returned the next day, on Jan. 12, and destroyed the homes of four families after they again refused to convert.
Two days later, the victims approached the Kavande Police Station to file a complaint. Police officers there reportedly threatened them instead of offering help, questioning their conversion as members of a tribal community.
