NEW YORK (AP) — Pope Francis will discuss how to address the world’s pressing issues with former President Bill Clinton to open this year’s Clinton Global Initiative, organizers announced Thursday.

The pontiff will discuss broad issues — including climate change, the refugee crisis, the welfare of children — during an onstage videoconference with Clinton Monday morning, while also telling attendees about specific projects like the work of Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Italy. The two-day conference will take place in New York on Monday and Tuesday, as leaders in politics, business and philanthropy gather to work on potential solutions to global concerns.

A conversation between U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also added to the conference Thursday, along with panels featuring Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Alphabet and Google President Ruth Porat, and NBA Hall of Famer and philanthropist Dwyane Wade.

They join previously announced “leaders, innovators and dreamers” including World Bank President Ajay Banga, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky, World Central Kitchen founder Jose Andres and Ford Foundation CEO Darren Walker, as well as A-list actors and philanthropists Orlando Bloom, Matt Damon, and Ashley Judd. The annual conference, which returned last year after a six-year hiatus, is focused on securing commitments to address climate change, health care issues, gender-based violence, the war in Ukraine and other issues.

“Every day, billions of people around the world, even in the face of the most dire circumstances, make a profound decision to choose hope and keep going,” former President Bill Clinton told The Associated Press in an emailed statement last month. “At CGI, we’re focusing on how to move forward in the face of daunting challenges—to act now, find new partners, and stick with it to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Obama And Former Italian PM Renzi Are Holding Secret Meeting

Obama And Former Italian PM Renzi Are Holding Secret Meeting Today – Experts Including Papadopoulos Suspect Meeting Linked To Spygate Scandal

Posted on June 17, 2019

(Gateway Pundit) – Much has happened since our post May 25th – “Rumors Swirling that Fired Italian Spies Were Connected in Plot to Eliminate Trump”.

The Gateway Pundit reported on rumors swirling that the recent firings of top Italian spies were related to Obama and a plot to set up candidate and President Trump during the 2016 election.

As reported on May 25th==>>

Earlier this month Italian Prime Minister Conte asked for the resignations of four top intelligence officials after his call with President Donald Trump.

And now another Internet Sleuth has uncovered some shocking news related to the recent removal of these top Italian intelligence ministers from their positions as top spies in the government.

The story begins in January 2017 when Computer World wrote about alleged crimes committed by Italian Giulio Occhionero:

The Tuesday arrest of Giulio Occhionero and his sister, Francesca Maria, has brought to light what appears to be the biggest, and highest-profile, hacking of institutional and corporate accounts ever reported in Italy.

The siblings have been planting the Pyramid Eye remote access Trojan on computers using a spear-phishing technique over several years, according to the arrest order.

They attacked at least 18,000 high-profile targets, including former Prime Ministers Matteo Renzi and Mario Monti, President of European Central Bank Mario Draghi, as well as employees and heads of various ministries including Internal Affairs, Treasury, Finance and Education.

But Giulio Occhionero claimed that he and his sister, Francesca Maria, were set up. A piece reported by Frederico Punzi, writing in The Atlantico, notes their denials and more:

Occhionero complained to the Prosecutor of the Republic of Perugia and wrote to the U.S. Congress and the FBI. In fact, there are a number of contradictions and suspicious circumstances in the case.

Occhionero claims and it was reported that:

Members of Italian intelligence were approached by Hillary Clinton, the Obama Administration, and the Deep State in order to frame Trump by PLANTING EVIDENCE on American servers to force Trump to step down from office.

In other words, members of Italian intelligence found a target in Occhionero, a Republican-sympathizer who had two servers for his company, Westland Securities, located in America. One was in Washington State, and the other in West Virginia.

The plan was for Italian Intelligence to hack into these servers, plant classified emails from Hillary’s servers inside these servers on American soil, and then alert the FBI.

The FBI would then raid these locations, “discover” these e-mails, investigate, link these servers to Trump…

And then force Trump to resign.

Occhionero believes that Obama and the former leader of Italy, Matteo Renzi, worked together on this plan and he provides reports of their meetings in Italy before the 2016 election and in early 2017.

First on CNN: Former DNC contractor denies working with Ukrainian officials on anti-Trump research

By Dan Merica, CNN

Updated 5:17 PM ET, Fri July 14, 2017

Story highlights
"I was not an opposition researcher for the DNC," Chalupa told CNN
Chalupa is a Ukrainian-American activist and Democratic consultant

Washington (CNN)The former Democratic National Committee contractor at the center of allegations that Democrats worked with Ukrainian officials to dig up dirt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump told CNN Friday that DNC officials never asked her to "go to the Ukrainian Embassy to collect information."

Alexandra Chalupa, a Ukrainian-American activist and Democratic consultant for over a decade, is the latest in a line of Democrats, including multiple DNC officials and former Clinton campaign officials, to deny the claim. It's a talking point the White House and other pro-Trump Republicans are using to deflect from Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a lawyer described to him in emails as a "Russian government lawyer."

DNC denies working with Ukrainian government, but contractor floated anti-Trump material

"During the 2016 US election, I was a part time consultant for the DNC running an ethnic engagement program," Chalupa said in a lengthy statement to CNN. "I was not an opposition researcher for the DNC, and the DNC never asked me to go to the Ukrainian Embassy to collect information."

Chalupa said Friday that because of her Ukrainian-American heritage she was aware of Paul Manafort's political consulting work for Victor Yanukovych, a former Ukrainian President with close ties to Moscow. Manafort, a longtime Republican operative, was hired by Trump in March 2016.

"When it was announced that the Trump campaign hired Manafort, many Ukrainian-Americans were alarmed and concerned it was an early signal that Putin was trying to influence the US election," Chalupa said. "At that time, I flagged for the DNC the significance of his hire based on information in the public domain."

Chalupa, who maintained other clients while working for the DNC, does say she had a "couple" meetings with "representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy," but that those meetings had to do with an "Immigrant Heritage Month women's networking event" she helped organize in June with Melanne Verveer, a Ukrainian-American and former US Ambassador for Global Women's Issues at the State Department under Hillary Clinton.

The White House has seized on Chalupa's work and a Politico story in January that said Ukrainian government officials worked with at least one staffer at the DNC during the 2016 campaign to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump. The story centers on Chalupa, who Politico reported has a network of people in Kiev and Washington -- including Ukrainian government officials -- who would pass her information that she would then float as potential research to DNC staffers.

Chalupa disagreed with the casting of the Politico story, posting on Facebook in January that it was "nonsense."

But the White House has jumped on the story, with multiple officials claiming it proves collusion.

"If you're looking for an example of a campaign coordinating with a foreign country or a foreign source, look no further than the DNC, who actually coordinated opposition research with the Ukrainian Embassy," White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on Monday.

"Let's compare that to the DNC sending its people to the Ukrainian embassy to coordinate oppo attacks against our candidate," Sebastian Gorka, a White House deputy assistant, said Tuesday on CNN. "If you want to see collusion, it's in the DNC. I mean, it is up to their necks."

According to two sources with knowledge of Chalupa's work with the DNC, though, there was one occasion where Chalupa's Ukrainian activism crossed into her work at the DNC.

Before current Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's visit to the United States in April 2016, Luis Miranda, then the communications director at the DNC, suggested Chalupa ask the Ukrainian embassy whether Poroshenko would be willing to take a question from an American journalist on Manafort's hire and work in Ukraine for Yanukovych, the sources said.

The visit came days after Trump's campaign hired Manafort to lead his campaign's delegate effort. Manafort would later go on to lead the campaign before being ousted in August as questions about his work in Ukraine for pro-Russia interests swirled.

Miranda told Chalupa, the sources said, that he would get a friendly outlet to ask the Poroshenko a question during a press briefing he was scheduled to hold. Chalupa asked the embassy, but officials there said no, the sources added.

Miranda and officials from the Ukrainian embassy did not respond to requests for comment on this charge.

Another source familiar with Chalupa's work at the DNC said the contractor "informally" told committee staffers last year that Ukrainian officials had become concerned about Trump's campaign and his ties to Russia and suggested having the DNC work with the Ukrainian embassy to bring some damning information to light.

The source said she was told "unless there is something public, there is nothing we can do" and that the DNC "never got anything from her" or "met with the Ukrainians."

"We never got any actual information. It didn't go beyond running by someone in a hallway and hearing rumors," the source said. "It was hearsay in the hallway conversation, there was never any formal conversation or paper research."

In her statement to CNN, Chalupa denied that she ever suggested working with the Ukrainian embassy to dig up dirt.

Officials for the DNC and former officials from Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign have denied the charges leveled by the White House, as has the Ukrainian embassy.

"I ran the opposition press program for the Clinton campaign and I don't know what the hell they're talking about," said Zac Petkanas, a former Clinton staffer.

"These allegations are false. Period," said Adrienne Watson, spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee.

Lauren Dillon, research director at the DNC, also denied any contact with any foreign governments, including Ukraine.

"I've been director of research at the DNC for four years and had zero contact with foreign governments," she said.

And a representative from the Ukrainian Embassy denied cooperating with Chalupa to pass damaging information on Trump to the DNC.

"The Embassy of Ukraine has never coordinated with the DNC on opposition research. Embassy officials worked with Alexandra Chalupa and a Ukrainian-American advocacy group last year on cultural events, but they did not assist Alexandra in providing any information related to the US election," the Ukrainian embassy said in statement. "While some politicians who are not part of the Ukrainian government might have taken sides during last year's election, the government and the Embassy of Ukraine did not."

(UPDATED) Univision and Hillary Clinton: A Timeline of Corrupt Collusion

By Jorge Bonilla | October 25, 2016 | 1:46 PM EDT

UPDATED 10/25: As part of its ongoing "Podesta emails" campaign, Wikileaks released an email to Clinton Campaign Chair John Podesta from his Chief of Staff Sara Latham, which includes a full rundown of Univision programming for which Hillary Clinton appearances have been requested, and the following quote:

Haim Saban talked to HRC about us not doing enough with Univision and references this show (Sabado Gigante).

There can be no further doubt.

Our last dive into the WikiLeaks trove yielded the proverbial smoking gun that confirmed our suspicion of collusion between Univision and the Clinton campaign. Below is an evolving timeline that confirms, beyond reasonable doubt, that Univision is inextricably joined with the Clinton campaign in corrupt purpose and deed.

On April 12, 2015, Hillary Clinton published her presidential campaign announcement video. Five days later, Univision Executive Chairman and Clinton Foundation megadonor Haim Saban emails both Clinton campaign chair John Podesta and Univision's then-President of News and Fusion CEO Isaac Lee- a follow-up from prior phone conversations- and directs them to contact each other. Lee (set to deliver his infamous "Nazis" talk at UT-Austin the very next day) agrees to meet with Podesta "ASAP", and the two ultimately agree on a breakfast meeting.

The purpose of this breakfast meeting is revealed in a later email from Fusion Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer (now President) Boris Gartner, who joined Lee and Podesta for breakfast at the Four Seasons:

As we had discussed when we had breakfast with Isaac in NY, we’ve been thinking about ideas for Univision/Fusion and Hillary.

The first "idea for Univision/Fusion and Hillary, of course, was enacted in the wake of Donald Trump's incendiary announcement speech and Saban's directly indirect influence over both campaign and network- which we covered here.

The collusion paid immediate dividends less than a month later, when Clinton's private e-mail server became a public scandal. On August 8th, Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri determined that Univision would be the friendliest venue in which to deal with the email scandal- and that Maria Elena Salinas should handle the interview:

I have a new thought on potential interviewer - Maria Elena Salinas of Univision. I would bill it as an interview on college affordability and she would ask her a few questions on emails. As you all know, I had hoped that we could use the "server moment" as an opportunity for her to be viewed as having take a big step to deal with the email problem that would best position us for what is ahead. It is clear that she is not in same place (unless John has a convo with her and gets her in a different place). Accepting that, I think Univision is best chance for success. We have momentum coming out of Jeb's women's health comment and their bad debate. A Univision interview will be viewed as more offense and show that she is confident and not rattled.

Of course, Clinton was able to appear "confident and not rattled" and emerged from her Univision interview scot-free, chiefly because Salinas dutifully avoided any serious probing into the budding scandal and allowed Clinton to deflect on to Judicial Watch. (Read the full MRC Latino writeup of that interview here.)

Fast forward to Super Tuesday. As Team Clinton celebrates, look at Huma Abedin's gushing over Hillary's victory speech, and its targeting of Univision viewers:

It was the most amazing night!

and the crowd just loved her

all those Univision viewers......

Why was Abedin so exultant about Univision viewers? It was because of this portion of Clinton's victory speech, which Team Clinton knew would get heavy run on the network:

Now it might be unusual, as I’ve said before, for a presidential candidate to say this, but I’m going to keep saying it, “I believe what we need in America today is more love and kindness.”

Because you know what? It works. Instead of building walls we’re going to break down barriers and build ladders of opportunity and empowerment so every American can live up to his or her potential, because then and only then can America live up to its full potential too.

The campaign knew what it had to do in order to get the most favorable coverage. Univision's coverage of Clinton's victory speech predictably focused around the spotlighted quote. This a pretty obvious example of the campaign acting in accordance with Saban's admonition from July of 2015, and giving the network something to cover in a friendly and favorable manner.

These WikiLeaks publications reveal the extent to which Univision and its News Division have been willfully corrupted by the Clinton campaign. Readers of this byline knew that to be the case all along, based on our coverage of the network's pillow-soft coverage of anything having to do with Hillary Clinton. But now there is incontrovertible corroborating evidence to support our longstanding claim- of Univision as a liberal special interest group with a news division, dependent on the election of Democrats to the White House and Congress for their long-term survival.

Exit question: What are the "...basically 2" reasons for which Saban loves Univision viewers?

Hillary Clinton attemps to justify Popery at the Al Smith Dinner 2016 (Updated with Trancript of the Segment)

Go directly to the diatribe "patronizing" Roman Catholicism part of the speech:
https://youtu.be/zMqox-OlcOY?t=15m40s

@ 15:40 mins. - Hillary Clinton said:
When I think about what Al Smith went through, it is important to just reflect how groundbreaking it was for him, a Catholic, to be my party's nominee for president.
Don't forget, school boards sent home letters with children saying that if Al Smith is elected president, you will not be allowed to have or read a Bible. Voters were told that he would annul Protestant marriages.  And I saw a story recently that said people even claimed the Holland Tunnel was a secret passageway to connect Rome and America to help the pope to rule our country.
Those appeals, appeals to fear and division can cause us to treat each other as the other. Rhetoric like that makes it harder for us to see each other to respect each other, to listen to each other, and certainly a lot harder to love our neighbor as ourselves. I believe the way we treat others is the highest expression of faith and of service. I am not Catholic, I'm a Methodist, but one of the things we share is a belief that in order to achieve salvation, we need both faith and good works.
You certainly don't need to be Catholic to be inspired by the humility and heart of the holy father Pope Francis, or to embrace his message. His message about rejecting a mindset of hostility. His call to reduce inequality. His warnings about climate change. His appeal that we build bridges, not walls. Now as you know, my running mate, Tim, is Catholic, d he went to Jesuit schools, and one of the ideas that I have talked about is this idea from the JESUITS, of the MAGIS, the more, the better.
We need to get better at finding ways to disagree on matters of policy while agreeing on questions of decency and civility. How we talk to each other, treat each other, respect each other. So I have taken this concept to of the MAGIS to heart in this campaign, as best as one can in the daily heat and back and forth of a presidential campaign, to ask how we can do more for each other and better for each other. Because I think for each of us, our greatest monument on this Earth won't be what we build, but the lives we touch. And that is ultimately what this dinner is all about. And it is why it has been such a great honor to join you all again. Thank you.

Highlights of Clinton and Trump at Al Smith Dinner

Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trumpappeared together Thursday night for a ritzy gathering, delivering remarks at the white-tie Al Smith charity dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan.

In most presidential campaigns, the dinner, which benefits Roman Catholic charities, functions as a welcome respite, a forum for levity and self-deprecation in the throes of a heated election.

This year, it just so happens that two New Yorkers can also be found at the top of the ballot.

Here are the highlights:

• And so they came, in tails and fuchsia. The introduction of Melania Trump (sans pussybow), then Mrs. Clinton (to cheers and applause), then Mr. Trump (to slightly less effusive cheers, and scattered boos).

But the silver lining, at least to start: Mr. Trump was greeted far more warmly than Mayor Bill de Blasio, who was booed like Santa at an Eagles game.

• Just like in the last two debates, Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Trump did not shake hands. Instead they beamed and ignored one another, until the evening’s M.C., Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, the archbishop of New York, performed a veritable act of God — inserting himself between the two rivals, with no physical altercation.

• Alfred E. Smith IV, the chairman of the dinner, seemed to offer a preview of what may await Mr. Trump as he tries to return to New York society life should he not win the White House in November.

“Before the dinner started, Trump went to Hillary and asked how are you,” Mr. Smith said, setting up the punch line. “She said, ‘I’m fine — now get out of the ladies’ dressing room.’”

• After the king crab and tournedos had been served, Mr. Smith returned to his favorite comedic villains — The Trump team.

On former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who is now a senior adviser on Mr. Trump’s campaign: “We have the lights just right to make sure you’ll be in Donald Trump’s shadow all night.”

And on Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who is running Mr. Trump’s transition effort: “Governor Christie was supposed to be here but he got stuck in bridge traffic.”

Finally, he turned the podium over to Mr. Trump. “No matter how the coin toss ended, our next speaker was going to say it was rigged,” Mr. Smith said, to laughter. “Donald, the microphone is yours and it’s working.”

• Mr. Trump seemed to miss the self-deprecation memo, at one point ending a sort-of-joke, comparing his Fifth Avenue tower to that of Cardinal Dolan’s — “I built mine with my own beautifully formed hands, whereas his was built with the hands of God” — by turning to the archbishop and asking, almost in earnest, “Nobody can compete with God, is that correct?”

But he hit his stride when he turned his attention to his Democratic rival. He joked that this intimate dinner with friends was, “as Hillary calls it, her largest crowd of the season.” And teased that Thursday evening marked, “The first time Hillary is sitting down and speaking to major corporate leaders and not getting paid for it.”

• At least one of Mr. Trump’s usual rivals got a reprieve — Rosie O’Donnell — if only by comparison.

“Last night I called Hillary ‘a nasty woman’” Mr. Trump said, reprising a line from Wednesday’s debate that many found sexist and offensive. “But this stuff is all relative. After listening to Hillary rattle on and on and on, I don’t think so badly of Rosie O’Donnell anymore. In fact, I’m actually starting to like Rosie a lot.”

•After delivering a joke about his wife’s speech at the Republican National Convention that lifted lines from Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech that was widely praised — “My wife Melania gives the exact same speech and people get on her case, and I don’t get it!” — Mr. Trump descended into a series of dark jokes.

“Here she is in public, pretending not to hate Catholics,” Mr. Trump said, one of several quips that, near the end of his speech, led to him getting booed and jeered.

Who is more Catholic than whom?

To hear the many howls of protest from conservatives, you’d think that a handful of emails released by WikiLeaks demonstrates that Hillary Clinton’s campaign is a nest of anti-Catholics. Fortunately for her, the emails, which are four to five years old, tell a far more interesting tale about the struggles inside the Catholic Church in the period before the ascendancy of Pope Francis.

All journalism relying on WikiLeaks should note our government has accused Russia of trying to influence the American election (and that the Clinton campaign has not authenticated the emails). Voters need to be wary of Vladimir Putin’s apparent preference for Donald Trump.

But given the storm the Catholic emails have provoked, readers might want to make up their own minds by consulting the full texts.
