Mayor Mamdani Welcomes Mayors from Around the World to New York City for 2026 Urban 20 Summit

September 19, 2026

What you should know

New York City and Los Angeles co-chair three-day summit on housing, climate and migration, kicking off Climate Week NYC

NEW YORK – Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani today welcomed mayors from across the United States and around the world to New York City for the 2026 Urban 20 (U20) Mayors Summit, where city leaders will work together on practical solutions to rising housing costs, the climate crisis and migration.

New York City and Los Angeles, led by Mayor Mamdani and Mayor Karen Bass, are co-chairs of this year’s U20. Convened by C40 Cities and United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), the summit runs from September 19 through 21 and is expected to bring together 25 mayors, along with deputy mayors and senior city leaders representing 34 cities across the G20 countries.

Leaders from Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Miami, Phoenix, San Diego and Seattle will join counterparts from cities across Canada, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Over three days, mayors will share the steps their cities are taking to build more affordable housing, protect tenants, lower energy costs, support immigrants, create good jobs and protect residents from extreme heat, flooding and other climate change impacts.

“New York City was built by people who came here from every corner of the world, so there is no better place for the world’s mayors to meet,” said Mayor Mamdani. “This weekend, we are bringing over 25 mayors together to confront the challenges and opportunities before all of us. Working families across the globe are being squeezed by rents that rise faster than paychecks, energy bills that spike every summer and heat waves that can turn an uncomfortable apartment into a dangerous one. New York City is proud to co-chair the Urban 20 and stand with mayors who will not leave those families on their own, no matter where they were born. At a time of division and retreat, our cities are choosing cooperation.”

“From accelerating the building of affordable housing to bold climate action to standing strong with immigrant communities in the face of attacks from the federal government, cities are on the frontlines—and where solutions are put into action,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “Los Angeles is proud to co-chair the 2026 Urban 20 with New York City and bring mayors from around the world together to tackle the challenges our communities face every day. By sharing what works and learning from one another, we can move faster and deliver more for the people we serve. Together, Los Angeles and New York City are making sure the voices of cities are heard—not only in our communities, but at the global table where decisions that shape our collective future are made.”

India to Climate Cartel: Count Us Out

The narrative of a rapidly degrading Indian environment due to energy consumption is demonstrably false.

By Vijay Jayaraj

August 1, 2026

Sometimes a story gets buried not because editors conspire against it, but because the news cycle has room for only one crisis at a time. This year the big news has been the Iran war. But even accounting for competing headlines, the silence around a genuinely consequential development is telling.

And that is the story of India’s explicit rejection of the global net zero movement. India has walked away from its bid to host the COP33 UN climate conference, and the world’s climate press has treated it as a footnote rather than the signal it is.

India had spent years projecting a rising voice in the development of climate policy, and hosting a COP33 is the closest thing the bureaucracy has to a coronation. Then, quietly, without public explanation, India withdrew its offer. No press conference. No elaboration. Just a government stepping back from a role for which it auditioned for years.

The truth is India has run the numbers on the cost of a net-zero energy transition for a population of 1.4 billion climbing out of poverty, and it does not like what it sees. The notion that India should shackle its economy by adhering to restrictive climate policies, while its people still grapple with energy deficits, is illogical and morally indefensible.

The Stunning Collapse of the Climate Scam, Documented

The Corbett Report

July 19, 2026

For those who have been paying attention, the stunning collapse of the climate scam over the past year has been something to behold.

First there was the COP Flop.

Then the US withdrew from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

Then Judith Curry retired her blog, opining that “It’s time to declare victory against climate stupidity and move on.”

Then The Guardian published an article lamenting that less than 5% of UK media outlets have used the recent European heat wave as an excuse to promote Net Zero propaganda.

And now even The New York Times is waving the white flag on the climate Armageddon story...well, kind of.

So, what on earth is happening? How did we go from a world where the climate apocalypse was touted as an existential threat to life on earth and trumpeted on the news every single day to a world where climate change isn’t even on the radar anymore?

Let’s find out.

Un-Settled Science: The death of RCP 8.5

Students of the climate scam will know by now the laundry list of scientific frauds, fallacies and fudgery that have undergirded the supposedly “settled science” of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming.

Pope Leo Pushes Back Against Trump

The pontiff takes a quiet but firm stance against the former president's policies.

Mar. 21, 2026 at 12:54am

In a surprising move, Pope Leo has been quietly but firmly pushing back against the policies and rhetoric of former U.S. President Donald Trump. The pontiff has used his moral authority and global platform to criticize Trump's divisive approach to immigration, his skepticism of climate change, and his antagonistic relationship with traditional U.S. allies.

Why it matters

As a highly influential global leader, Pope Leo's stance against Trump's policies carries significant weight, especially among Catholics and other religious communities. This clash between the spiritual and political realms highlights the Pope's willingness to take a principled stand on issues he deems morally important, even when it means challenging a former U.S. president.

The details

Pope Leo has used various channels to voice his disagreement with Trump, including speeches, interviews, and direct communications with the White House. While avoiding direct personal attacks, the Pope has criticized Trump's hardline immigration policies, his dismissal of climate change, and his antagonistic approach to long-standing U.S. alliances. This quiet but firm pushback has created tension between the Vatican and the former administration.

  • Pope Leo was elected as the 267th Pope in 2020.
  • Trump served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021.

‘Project Hail Mary’ review: Ryan Gosling sci-fi epic celebrates sacrifice, friendship and the power of hope

Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace in "Project Hail Mary" | Amazon MGM Studios

In a cinematic landscape often dominated by dystopian futures, raunchy storylines and grim visions of the universe’s fate, “Project Hail Mary” offers something refreshingly different: hope, optimism and a belief in humanity’s willingness to sacrifice for one another.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and adapted by Drew Goddard from the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, the film, rated PG-13 for some thematic material and suggestive references, combines gorgeous celestial landscapes and sci-fi elements with a human, often funny, story about sacrifice, friendship and curiosity.

At the center of it all is Ryan Gosling, who both produced the film and delivers a heartfelt performance as Ryland Grace, a middle-school science teacher who wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of how he got there.

Gradually, Grace begins piecing together the truth: Earth’s sun is dying. Alien microbes known as astrophage are consuming its energy, threatening to plunge the planet into a new ice age. Humanity’s last hope is a desperate mission to a distant star system, the titular “Hail Mary.”

End of Climate Catastrophism Is Good for Prosperity

By Josh Hammer  December 05, 2025

Fré Sonneveld

Is the American Left finally waking up from its decadeslong climate catastrophism stupor? For years, climate alarmism has reigned as political catechism: The planet is burning, and only drastic action -- deindustrialization, draconian regulation, even ceasing childbearing -- could forestall certain apocalypse. Now, at least some signs are emerging that both the broader public and leading liberal voices may be recoiling from the doom and gloom.

First, recent polling shows that the intensity of climate dread is weakening. According to a July 2025 report from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, while a majority (69%) of Americans still say global warming is happening, only 60% say it's "mostly human-caused"; 28% attribute it mostly to natural environmental changes. A similar October 2025 study from the University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute found that "belief in human-driven climate change declined overall" since 2017. Interestingly, Democrats and political independents, not Republicans, were primarily responsible for the decline.

Moreover, public willingness to countenance personal sacrifice in the name of saving the planet seems to be plummeting: An earlier October 2024 poll from the Pew Research Center found that only 45% said human activity contributes "a great deal" to climate change. Another 29% said it contributes "some" -- while a quarter said human influence was minimal or nonexistent.

The moral panic is slowly evaporating. Millions of Americans may still believe warming exists, but far fewer view it as an imminent existential threat -- let alone embrace sweeping upheavals in energy policy and personal lifestyle.

Pope Leo Blessing Ice Sparks Anger: ‘Pagan Earth-Worship Ritual’

PUBLISHED

By Jordan King

US News Reporter

Multiple people have spoken out against Pope Leo blessing a block of ice during a global church summit on climate change, with one calling it part of a “weird pagan Earth-worshipping hippy ritual.”

Leo carried out the blessing while he presided over the 10th anniversary celebration of immediate predecessor Pope Francis's landmark ecological encyclical (a papal letter sent to all Roman Catholic bishops), Laudato Si, or Praised Be.

Pope Leo was presiding over the Raising Hope for Climate Justice’ International Conference at Castel Gandolfo, just south of Rome, in front of more than 1,000 people, according to the National Catholic Reporter.

Footage of him blessing a block of ice has been shared widely online. Several figures have criticized the move, classing it as “paganism” and saying the “the leader of the Catholic Church shouldn’t be anywhere near this nonsense.”

Pope Leo XIV calls for more regulations to address climate change

Pope Leo XIV calls for more regulations to address climate change

By Callie Patteson

October 1, 2025 11:57 am

Pope Leo XIV called on governments worldwide to increase regulations aimed at mitigating climate change, continuing the teachings of the late Pope Francis.

The Chicago-born pope made the remarks at the Raising Hope conference just south of Rome. The conference is intended to mark the 10th anniversary of Francis's landmark encyclical on the environment.

Published in 2015, Laudato Si called on the Catholic Church to put the environment at the center of its social teachings. Francis wrote that the Earth was starting to look like "an immense pile of filth," adding that the church holds a moral obligation to support efforts aimed at combating climate change.

Leo praised his predecessor's words and his impact on Wednesday, saying the encyclical has greatly inspired the church in the years since it was published.

However, Leo warned that the challenges Francis wrote about are more relevant today, not only in a religious and spiritual nature, but also in a political one.

Leo pointed to an apostolic exhortation released by Francis in 2023, which illustrated how divisive the matter of climate change has become and criticized those who have "chosen to deride the increasingly evident signs of climate change."

Francis insisted that caring for the environment is intrinsically linked with the Catholic faith, later putting pressure on individuals to more strongly advocate mitigating actions.

"Pope Francis emphasized that the most effective solutions would not come from individual efforts alone, but above all from major political decisions on the national and international levels," Leo said.

"Everyone in society, through nongovernmental organizations and advocacy groups, must put pressure on governments to develop and implement more rigorous regulations, procedures, and controls," he continued. "Citizens need to take an active role in political decision-making at national, regional, and local levels. Only then will it be possible to mitigate the damage done to the environment."

Only five months into his tenure as pope, Leo has made it clear that tackling climate change and lowering the risks of global warming for poor and vulnerable individuals will be a priority during his papacy.

In July, Leo held a special mass urging Catholics to engage in efforts aimed at combating the effects of climate change, noting that the planet is experiencing an "ecological crisis."

Leo has also prioritized environmentally friendly changes in the Vatican, including using solar power to make Vatican City the first carbon-neutral state. Additionally, he launched a new ecological center and farm dedicated to sustainability.

The American pope's emphasis on addressing climate change is a break from the current political focus of the U.S. government. President Donald Trump has rolled back numerous climate-related policies and again pulled the United States from the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement.

In recent weeks, the Trump administration has escalated pressure on the European Union to do the same, targeting methane and other climate change-related regulations that fossil fuel companies say will hurt their ability to increase exports abroad.

While Energy Secretary Chris Wright, for example, has said climate change is a real phenomenon and a global challenge, the administration has insisted it is not an essential threat and is less important to address than getting ahead in the artificial intelligence race.

The Agenda: Their Vision | Your Future is a feature-length independent documentary produced by Mark Sharman; former UK broadcasting executive at ITV and Sky (formerly BSkyB).

In fiction and fact, there have always been people and organisations with ambitions to control the world. And now the oligarchs who pull the strings of finance and power finally have the tools to achieve their global objectives; omnipresent surveillance, artificial intelligence, digital currency and ultimately digital identities. The potential for social control of our lives and minds is alarmingly real.

The plan has been decades in the making and has seen infiltration of Governments, local councils, big business, civil society, the media and, crucially, education. A ceaseless push for a new reality, echoing Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, or George Orwell’s 1984.

The Agenda: Their Vision, Your Future examines the digital prison which awaits us if we do not push back right now. How your food, energy, money, travel and even your access to the internet could be limited and controlled; how financial power is strangling democracy and how global institutions like the World Health Organisation are commandeered to champion ideological and fiscal objectives.

The centrepiece is man-made climate change and with it, the race to Net Zero. Both are encapsulated in the United Nations and its Agenda 2030. A force for good? Or “a blank cheque for totalitarian global control”?

The Agenda presents expert views from the UK, the USA and Europe.

Pope Leo is becoming the climate champion we need

While the leader of 340 million Americans furiously works to derail climate action, the leader of 1.4 billion Catholics is embracing it.

In May, when Pope Leo XIV succeeded the late Pope Francis, I suggested he could be the kind of climate champion the world needs when President Donald Trump seems determined to turn the U.S. from one of the world’s leading protectors of the environment to one of its worst vandals. So far, Leo has given no reason to doubt he’ll be at least as green as Francis, who was arguably the greenest pope in modern history.

Italy’s government recently approved a 2024 proposal by Francis to build a solar array in a field north of Rome that will generate enough power to provide “the complete energy sustenance of Vatican City State,” as Francis put it. Leo championed the plan just weeks after succeeding Francis, calling it an example for the world. “We all know the effects of climate change, and it is necessary to truly care for the whole world, for all of creation,” Leo told Italian state TV at the site in June.

The solar array, which still needs Italian parliamentary approval, will put the Vatican among the handful of countries generating all their power from renewable energy. Of course, at 0.17 square miles, the Vatican will be the tiniest of that tiny group.

But a little symbolism in this case could go a long way. Trappings like solar panels on the Vatican roof and an all-electric Popemobile aren’t just green window dressing. They manifest a worldview expounded by Francis in his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’, which condemned humanity’s degradation of the environment for short-term financial gain.

2025 – Montréal Inclusive Solidarities: Reimagining Boundaries in Divided Times

Conference dates: 1-3 July 2025 (virtual); 9-12 July 2025 (in Montréal)

Inclusive Solidarities: Reimagining Boundaries in Divided Times

Solidarity is a central value practiced across social and labor movements and a key principle underpinning social democracies. It is also a term with many meanings, referring to the cohesion of groups, the development of social policy and welfare states, or the goals and tactics of labor and social movement organizations. Solidarity in all its forms involves an act of political and social imagination – to identify who one is willing to act in solidarity with, or who are the members of one’s ‘imagined community’ (Anderson 1983). How community is defined, and how the boundaries around that community are drawn or imagined, have implications for who is included and excluded in collective action to redistribute power and resources, to demand rights, and to fight oppression.

The theme of this year’s SASE meeting recognizes the importance of reimagining the boundaries that define commitments to and practices of inclusive solidarity, at a time when the most visible trends are toward intensified divisions. Tens of thousands of lives have been lost in wars, invasions, and violent conflicts over the past year alone. Climate change is fueling displacement and famine, while attempts to mitigate carbon emissions encourage organizing for and against policies to reform farming, manufacturing, and energy production. Far right political parties have experienced growing support, with recent major election wins in Europe and Latin America – and a rising share of the popular vote in many countries world-wide. And multinational companies and their investors continue to adapt to a post-COVID global economy through pursuing particularistic interests within and across national boundaries, from opposing proposed regulation of AI and platform work to challenging the right to strike as a critical dimension of the ILO’s fundamental right to freedom of association.

Pope Leo XIV is Going to Celebrate the First Climate Change Mass...

Pope Leo XIV is Going to Celebrate the First Climate Change Mass in Castel Gandolfo as the Satanists Celebrate their Black Mass Nearby!

Article by Leo Zagami

In Confessions of an Illuminati Volume 12, I explain how, “Pope Francis’ Laudato si’ the leftist encyclical, published in 2015,” is “mostly read for its political parts and not for its Catholic message,” and is still considered “a (sort of) mandatory reading” for leftist “politicians, diplomats, and economists, who have widely used excerpts of it in their speeches in the last few years,” especially in Europe, but also in the United States. Against any scientific certainty about so-called “climate change “the late Pope Francis, who loved dogmas, declared that the science of climate change” was indeed “clear,” and beyond criticism. The Catholic church, as I explained in my latest book, is now in hands of the Jesuits who have been pushing this agenda since the late 60s, must suddenly be forced to view “climate change as a moral issue that must be addressed to protect the earth and everyone on it.”

Now, with Pope Francis’ successor, the diabolical direction instigated by the Jesuits in favor of the lies and propaganda of so-called “climate change,” is moving forward, as Pope Leo XIV is going to celebrate for the first time a new votive Mass devised “for the care of creation” on July 9, 2025, in which the current pope will use, in a private mass for the “Borgo Laudato Si’” an educational group established by Pope Francis at Castel Gandolfo to promote “ecological conversion” by using the ”Pontifical Villas’ garden as an example,[1] a set of new prayers in favor of the Jesuit green agenda officially entitled “Missa pro custodia creationis” (“ Mass for the care of creation”). The term “Castel Gandalf” has been used by Alex Jones in the past in a combination of “Castel Gandolfo” (the Pope’s summer residence outside Rome) and “Gandalf” (a character from the Lord of the Rings series).

The new Mass prayers were presented a couple of days ago in the Vatican with a press conference by the influential Jesuit Cardinal Michael Czerny, prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, and the Franciscan Archbishop Vittorio Francesco Viola, secretary of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.[2]

Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, participated in the collaborative effort to create the prayers, alongside other Vatican departments mostly controlled by the Jesuits.

Cardinal Michael Czerny, SJ, made the following speech that gives us a full understanding of how the Jesuits are further high-jacking the Catholic Mass in line with the other monstrosities of the Second Vatican Council:

In the Roman Missal, there are 49 Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Occasions. Twenty are for the Church, 17 for civil needs, and 12 for various occasions. Among the formularies “for civil needs,” today we are happy to introduce a “Mass for the care of creation” (Missa pro custodia creationis), in response to requests suggested by Laudato si’.

Jesuit Missions' Bonn climate conference report: some progress, but much more needs to be done

Concerns continue to be raised about the lack of support offered to countries in the Global South to help them tackle climate change, following two weeks of climate negotiations in Bonn.

This year's preparatory meeting (SB62) for the 30th United Nations' Climate Change Conference (COP30) left a series of questions unanswered, including around financial packages for poorer countries impacted by extreme weather patterns.

However, there was some progress made on plans for a socially just transition towards greener energy, with the hope that this momentum can be maintained at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, in November.

Richard Solly, Campaigns and Advocacy Officer at Jesuit Missions who attended the conference in Germany, said it is clear much more needs to be done to secure genuine climate justice for poorer countries, accusing richer nations of "blocking" this process.

But he welcomed the work of campaigners in moving the conversation around a just energy transition and praised the number of faith groups working together on climate issues.

Jesuit Missions has consistently raised awareness of the devastating impact climate change can have on several of its Jesuit partner organisations in the Global South.

It continues to engage in the annual COPs (Conference of the Parties), including financially supporting one of its partner organisations, the Centre Arrupe Madagascar, at last year's summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

This year, it is once again involved in the Jesuits for Climate Justice campaign, working with other Jesuit organisations across the world, including the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat in Rome, Jesuit European Social Centre in Brussels, and Jesuítas Brasil, calling on global leaders to take quick and decisive action on the environment.

Vermont’s Governor Delays Electric Car Mandates, Part of State’s Climate Plan

In an executive order, Gov. Phil Scott paused enforcement of EV supply mandates. The stated reasons defy the administration’s prior messaging about zero-emission vehicle goals.

Vermont, in a surprising shift, will not enforce electric car and truck supply mandates through the end of calendar year 2026.

Gov. Phil Scott signed an executive order on May 13 to allow a 19-month delay in part because of pressure from vehicle manufacturers as well as uncertainties stemming from the Trump administration’s tariffs and broad federal budget freezes and cuts. Lawmakers in Washington this week pursued a more radical course: the U.S. Senate voted to block the California plan for EVs that Vermont and other states have followed.

The Scott administration has previously touted its regulations-–patterned after California’s zero-emission vehicle rule that aims to end gasoline-powered car and light truck sales by 2035–as an effective climate strategy that required manufacturers to increase the percentage of EVs offered for sale in the state. State agencies had linked the strategy to a rapid uptick in EV ownership.

Scott’s executive order, signed May 13, will affect two model years and was cast as a temporary response by administration officials who faced some tough questioning during a hastily called Senate hearing to review the order.

“This is a modest step to create a little bit of space while some of the dust settles at the federal level in particular, while maintaining our commitment to an overall transition to electric vehicles,” Julie Moore, the state’s natural resources secretary, said during a contentious joint hearing of two Senate committees.

Democrats and climate advocates cried foul and demanded, as federal environmental safeguards fall, that Vermont “hold the line” against industry demands. Scott also cited a lack of charging stations and a freeze of millions of dollars in federal funding for chargers in Vermont as part of his rationale. Critics disputed that Vermont lacked a robust charging network.
