AND THE THIRD ANGEL FOLLOWED THEM, SAYING WITH A LOUD VOICE, IF ANY MAN WORSHIP THE BEAST AND HIS IMAGE, AND RECEIVE HIS MARK IN HIS FOREHEAD, OR IN HIS HAND. *** REVELATION 14:9

The Angel of Revelation 18
July 29
And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. Revelation 18:1.
The prophecies in the eighteenth of Revelation will soon be fulfilled. During the proclamation of the third angel's message, “another angel” is to “come down from heaven, having great power,” and the earth is to be “lightened with his glory.” The Spirit of the Lord will so graciously bless consecrated human instrumentalities that men, women, and children will open their lips in praise and thanksgiving, filling the earth with the knowledge of God, and with His unsurpassed glory, as the waters cover the sea.
Those who have held the beginning of their confidence firm unto the end will be wide-awake during the time that the third angel's message is proclaimed with great power. During the loud cry, the church, aided by the providential interpositions of her exalted Lord, will diffuse the knowledge of salvation so abundantly that light will be communicated to every city and town. The earth will be filled with the knowledge of salvation. So abundantly will the renewing Spirit of God have crowned with success the intensely active agencies, that the light of present truth will be seen flashing everywhere.
There is to be, at this period, a series of events which will reveal that God is Master of the situation. The truth will be proclaimed in clear, unmistakable language. As a people, we must prepare the way of the Lord, under the overruling guidance of the Holy Spirit. The gospel is to be given in its purity. The stream of living water is to deepen and widen in its course. In all fields, nigh and afar off, men will be called from the plow and from the more common commercial business vocations that largely occupy the mind, and will be educated in connection with men of experience. As they learn to labor effectively, they will proclaim the truth with power. Through most wonderful workings of divine providence, mountains of difficulties will be removed, and cast into the sea. The message that means so much to the dwellers upon the earth will be heard and understood. Men will know what is truth. Onward, and still onward the work will advance, until the whole earth shall have been warned. And then shall the end come.

Let the Trumpet Give a Certain Sound
Chapter 132—Let the Trumpet Give a Certain Sound. - By Mrs. E. G. White.
We are pressing on to the final conflict, and this is no time to compromise. It is no time to hide your colors. When the battle wages sore, let no one turn traitor. It is no time to lay down or conceal our weapons, and give Satan the advantage in the warfare. But unless you watch, and keep your garments unspotted from the world, you will not stand true to your Captain. It is no time for watchmen to slumber on the walls of Zion. Let them be wide-awake. Call to your fellow-watchmen, crying, “The morning cometh, and also the night.” It is no time now to relax our efforts, to become tame and spiritless; no time to hide our light under a bushel, to speak smooth things, to prophesy deceit. Every power is to be employed for God. You are to maintain your allegiance, bearing testimony for God and for truth. Be not turned aside by any suggestion the world can make. We cannot afford to compromise. There is a living issue before us, of vital importance to the remnant people of God, to the very close of this earth’s history; for eternal interests are involved. On the very eve of the crisis, it is no time to be found with an evil heart of unbelief, departing from the living God.
The original apostasy began in disbelief and denial of the truth; but if we would triumph, we must fix the eye of faith steadfastly upon Jesus, the Captain of our salvation. We are to follow the example of Christ, and in all that Jesus did on earth, he had an eye single to the glory of God. He says, “As the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.” “This commandment have I received of my Father.” In all he did he was working out the will of his Father, so that his life on earth was a manifestation of the divine perfection. Divinity and humanity were united in Christ, that he might reveal to us God’s purpose, and bring man into close communion with himself. This union will enable us to overcome the enemy; for through faith in Christ we shall have divine power. The days will come (for the enemy is working to that end) in which the law of God will be made void. As those days approach, the loyal subjects of God must rise to the emergency, manifesting more fervent zeal, giving more positive and unflinching testimony.
But while we are to speak as having authority, we should do nothing in a defiant spirit. If our hearts are fully surrendered to God, we shall unite meekness and love with truth and decision. We are “to be ready to every good work, to speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness unto all men.”
It is time for God’s people to take up the duties that lie next them, to be faithful in little things; for on the right performance of little things hang great results. Do not leave the work which needs to be done, because to your judgment it appears small and unimportant. Make up every waste place, repair the breaches as fast as they occur. Let no difference or dissension exist among the workers. Let all go to work to help some one who needs help. There is a cause for the great weakness in our churches, and that cause is hard to remove; for it is self. Trouble does not arise because men have too much will, but because they have too much self-will. The will should be wholly sanctified to God. The professed followers of Christ need to fall on the Rock and be broken; for in every one who enters the gates of the city of God, self must be crucified. This fierce spirit which rises up in the hearts of some in the church when everything does not go to please them, must be subdued; for it is not the Spirit of Christ. It is fully time that we return to our first love, and be at peace among ourselves. We must make it manifest that we are not only Bible readers, but Bible believers. If we are united to Christ, we shall be united to one another. Jesus says, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written. The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.... Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: that ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Our numbers are increasing, our facilities are enlarging, and all this calls for union among the workers, for entire consecration and thorough devotion to the cause of God. There is no place in the work of God for half-hearted workers, for those who are neither cold nor hot. Jesus says, “I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” Among those who are half-hearted are the class who pride themselves on their great caution in receiving “new light,” as they term it. But their failure to receive the light is caused by their spiritual blindness; for they cannot discern the ways and works of God. Those who array themselves against the precious light of heaven, will accept messages that God has not sent, and will thus become dangerous to the cause of God; for they will set up false standards.
There are men in our cause who might be of great use if they would but learn of Christ, and go on from light to greater light; but because they will not, they are positive hindrances, forever questioning, wasting precious time in argument, and contributing nothing to the spiritual elevation of the church. They misdirect minds, and lead men to accept perilous suggestions. They cannot see afar off; they cannot discern the conclusion of the matter. Their moral force is squandered upon trifles; for they view an atom as a world, and a world as an atom.
Many have trusted and gloried in the wisdom of men far more than in Christ and in the precious sanctifying truth for this time. They need the heavenly anointing, that they may comprehend what is light and truth. They thank God that they are confined to no narrow groove, but they do not see the breadth and far-reaching extent of the principles of truth, and are not enlightened by the Spirit of God as to heaven’s large liberality. They admire man-made theories, and walk in the sparks of their own kindling, diverging farther and farther from the genuine principles of Christian action ordained to make men wise unto salvation. They strive to extend the gospel, but separate from it the very marrow and life. They say, “Let the light shine,” but cover it so that it shall not shine in clear rays on the very subjects that they need to understand. Some exhaust the fervor of their zeal on plans that cannot be carried out without peril to the church.
At this time the church should not be diverted from the main object of vital interest, to things that will not bring health and courage, faith and power. They must see, and by their actions testify, that the gospel is aggressive.
Watchmen on the walls of Zion are to be vigilant, and sleep not day nor night. But if they have not received the message from the lips of Christ, their trumpets will give an uncertain sound. Brethren, God calls upon you, both ministers and laymen, to listen to his voice speaking to you in his word. Let his truth be received into the heart, that you may be spiritualized by its living, sanctifying power. Then let the distinct message for this time be sent from watchman to watchman on the walls of Zion.
This is a time of general departure from truth and righteousness, a time when we must build the old waste places, and with interested effort labor to raise up the foundation of many generations.
“Thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable, and shall honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words, then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord, and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.”
“Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation. Awake, awake, put on strength. O arm of the Lord, awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old ...Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep: that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to passover! Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass, and forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth, and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor! The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fall. But I am the Lord thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared the Lord of hosts in his name. And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth and say unto Zion. Thou art my people.”
“For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory; and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate, but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah; for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.”
While you hold the banner of truth firmly, proclaiming the law of God, let every soul remember that the faith of Jesus is connected with the commandments of God. The third angel is represented as flying through the midst of heaven, crying with a loud voice. “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” The first, second, and third angels’ messages are all linked together. The evidences of the abiding, ever-living truth of these grand messages, that mean so much to us, that have awakened such intense opposition from the religious world, cannot be extinguished. Satan is constantly seeking to cast his hellish shadow about these messages, so that the remnant people of God shall not clearly discern their import, their time, and place; but they live, and are to exert their power upon our religious experience while time shall last.
The influence of these messages has been deepening and widening, setting in motion the springs of action in thousands of hearts, bringing into existence institutions of learning, publishing houses, and health institutions; all these are the instrumentalities of God to co-operate in the grand work represented by the first, second, and third angels flying in the midst of heaven to warn the inhabitants of the world that Christ is coming again with power and great glory. The prophet says, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils.” This is the same message that was given by the second angel. Babylon is fallen, “because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” What is that wine?—Her false doctrines. She has given to the world a false Sabbath instead of the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and has repeated the falsehood that Satan first told to Eve in Eden.—the natural immortality of the soul. Many kindred errors she has spread far and wide, “teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
When Jesus began his public ministry, he cleansed the temple from its sacrilegious profanation. Among the last acts of his ministry was the second cleansing of the temple. So in the last work for the warning of the world, two distinct calls are made to the churches. The second angel’s message is, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” And in the loud cry of the third angel’s message a voice is heard from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

The Latter Rain and the Loud Cry
The work will be similar to that of the Day of Pentecost. The “former rain” was given at the opening of the gospel to cause the upspringing of the precious seed; so the “latter rain” will be given at its close for the ripening of the harvest. Hosea 6:3; Joel 2:23. The great work of the gospel is not to close with less manifestation of the power of God than marked its opening. The prophecies which were fulfilled in the outpouring of the former rain at the opening of the gospel are again to be fulfilled in the latter rain at its close. Here are “the times of refreshing” to which the apostle Peter looked forward. Acts 3:19, 20.
Servants of God, their faces shining with holy consecration, will hasten from place to place to proclaim the message from heaven. Miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed. Satan also works with lying wonders, even bringing down fire from heaven. Revelation 13:13. Thus the inhabitants of the earth will be brought to take their stand.
The message will be carried not so much by argument as by the deep conviction of the Spirit of God. The arguments have been presented, publications have exerted their influence, yet many have been prevented from fully comprehending the truth. Now the truth is seen in its clearness. Family connections, church relations are powerless to stay the honest children of God now. Notwithstanding the agencies combined against the truth, a large number take their stand upon the Lord’s side.

Could the exposure of Roman Catholicism as the antichrist power pave the way for Israel’s mass acceptance of Jesus as Messiah?

Laymen for Religious
Liberty Ministries
There’s a lot that I have to share with you today, but I’ve boiled it down into a quick, seven minute video that you can watch right here.
For the long story, read on.
--------------------------------
Two weeks ago we uploaded our newest clip: Charlie Hebdo And The Pope’s Visit To Congress. In it we began exploring not just the Vatican’s traditional opposition to free speech, but its shamefully (and not surprisingly) under-reported role in the Holocaust.
Years of research and weeks of diligent editing were compressed into this 19 minute presentation.
For those of you who watched it, I don’t need to tell you it’s a stick of dynamite! Should it start resonating with Jews, there’s no telling what might happen!
Having uploaded this clip at YouTube, we’re now being urged in our consciences to go much further. Further into Vatican pronouncements against free speech. Further into her role in the Holocaust.
Two videos are now in the pipeline.
TWO NEW VIDEOS
#1 has already been recorded and will soon be released as a five part series lasting almost two hours. It’s entitled: Defending God's Prophet. Much about the papacy and free speech is included in this sermon.
#2 hasn’t yet been recorded and will be our attempt at connecting several more dots in the Holocaust. In the Charlie Hebdo video we looked at two of these dots, or Vatican fingerprints, as I’d prefer to call them. God sparing our lives, in sermon #2 we’ll look at a few more.
Q.
Why?
A1
Because the mainstream media won’t!
A2
Because the exposure of the wickedness of the man of sin is a critical part of the loud cry!
What makes it so critical? I’ll tell you.
Years ago it began dawning on me that there’s a side to the loud cry that’s been totally ignored in Adventist literature. In the 42 years that I’ve been a Seventh-day Adventist, I’ve never heard or read a word about it. I’m talking about what the mass exposure of the Roman Catholic Church as the antichrist power could mean to the Jew.
If, as we’ve been told in The Great Controversy, page 606, “the sins of Babylon will be laid open” during the loud cry, and if Catholicism’s responsibility for the Holocaust is one of those sins, then what might this mean to the Jew?
Put another way: if the main stumbling block to the acceptance of Jesus as Messiah by the Jews could be removed, then what might this do to the Jewish psyche – in particular, the Jewish attitude toward Christ and Christians?
Q.
To what stumbling block do I refer?
A.
The barbarity with which Jews for over 1500 years have been treated by so-called Christians. Has not this barbarity, and the Holocaust in which it culminated, been aptly termed: “the central tragedy of Western Civilization”?
Many moons ago, in an old newsletter, I felt led to write:
“The biggest impediment to the Jews accepting their Messiah is not theology, but the false concept they have of Christianity. Tragically, as permanently as the brand of a hot iron is burned into a cow’s flesh, so permanently have the memories of the Inquisition and the ghettoes and the Holocaust been burned into the Jewish psyche … as the fruit of Christianity.
“For better or for worse, I take this personally. That my Saviour, Jesus Christ, should be associated in the Jewish mind with the likes of Hitler, Goebbels and Barbie – this is a master-stroke of the devil himself and must be undone. This horrible caricature must be removed before the Jews, en masse, will give Christianity a 2nd look.”
I hadn’t arrived at this conclusion by accident. Quotations like the one below ripped open my heart and helped fuel this perspective.
“When I look in the sky, any vision of God I might have is clouded over by the smoke spewed out of Nazi ovens. Any time I think that maybe God exists, that possibility is consumed by the same flames that consumed the tender flesh of trainloads of Jewish children. Where was God when those crying children were torn from their mothers’ arms? Where was this Jesus as they were hurled into pits of fire? Where was the Messiah when Jewish babies’ bones were crushed under black SS boots? If the Messiah were ever going to come, He should have showed up at Auschwitz. He didn’t come then, so who needs him now? For me, God, even the idea of God, is the final victim of the Holocaust.”
The Clifford Goldstein Story, page 59
How sad! Yet if Jews could once wrap their minds around the thought that what happened to them in the Inquisition and Holocaust was not Christianity at work; if they could wrap their minds around the fact that neither the indignities, nor ghettos, nor mass deportations, nor forced baptisms, nor tattoos, nor burned synagogues, nor death camps, nor ovens, nor anything connected to the sadism of the Holocaust was the work of Christianity, but rather that all this was the work of the antichrist; if they could see this tragic history in its true light, then might it not remove their wariness of Christians and pave the way for their wholesale acceptance of Jesus as Messiah?
Of course it’s not so simple, is it? Notwithstanding the heroism of Corrie ten Boom and other Christians (and non-Christians too, we should add) who risked their lives during World War II to save Jews from extermination by the Nazis, and who earned the honorific, ‘Righteous Among the Nations,’ by the State of Israel, surely the Protestant churches by their widespread silence must bear some responsibility for the Holocaust too.
Can we not see ourselves in the following story?
SING A LITTLE LOUDER"
by Penny Lea
“I lived in Germany during the Nazi holocaust. I considered myself a Christian. I attended Church since I was a small boy. We had heard the stories of what was happening to the Jews, but like most people today in this country, we tried to distance ourselves from the reality of what was really taking place. What could anyone do to stop it?
"A railroad track ran behind our small church, and each Sunday morning we would hear the whistle from the distance and then the clacking of the wheels moving over the track. We became disturbed when one Sunday we noticed cries coming from the train as it passed by. We grimly realized that the train was carrying Jews. They were like cattle in those cars!
"Week after week that train whistle would blow. We would dread to hear the sound of those old wheels because we knew that the Jews would begin to cry to us as they passed our church. It was so terribly disturbing! We could do nothing to help these poor miserable people, yet their screams tormented us. We knew exactly at what time that whistle would blow, and we decided the only way to keep from being so disturbed by the cries was to start singing our hymns. By the time the train came rumbling past the church yard, we were singing at the top of our voices. If some of the screams reached our ears, we'd just sing a little louder until we could hear them no more.
Years passed and no one talks about it much anymore, but I still hear that train whistle in my sleep. I can still hear them crying out for help. God forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians, yet did nothing to intervene."
Friend, God knows I never intended to go quite so long in this newsletter, but please humor me. If you’ve stayed with me this far, then let’s carry this one step further.
Consider this too, please.
Is it possible that God has given to the Seventh-day Adventist Church the very message intended to awaken the Jews? In short, are Revelation 18 and the loud cry as much for the sons and daughters of Jacob as they are for the inhabitants of Babylon?
What will it do to the Jews when that cry emanating from millions of Christian lips – i.e., the cry that Roman Catholicism is no part whatsoever of the bride of Christ – begins to sound across the globe?
“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.” Romans 11: 25.
What Paul is plainly stating in this verse is that Israel’s blindness is only for a season. In short, the day is coming when there will yet be a revival among the Jews, and they will turn to their Messiah.
“Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?” v. 12.
“And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.” V.26.Pull back the curtain a bit more and the inevitable question follows: could the burden on my heart to expose before the world the Roman Catholic Church’s responsibility for theHolocaust be but a prelude to the mass awakening of the Jews?
Did God take me to Argentina in 1993 … for such a time as this?
These are questions only God can answer. One thing I do know: as I said in our Charlie Hebdo video, connecting these dots, these Vatican fingerprints, in such a public forum as YouTube, is risky business, but it’s got to be done.
NEED
- All right, so what are our needs as far as these two sermons are concerned? Our biggest need right now is for the protection of Almighty God – protection which you can’t give us, but to which you can contribute by your prayers.
- Our second need is for funds sufficient to complete these sermons. With that in mind, let’s recap. Below are the editing expenses incurred for our most recent videos.
- Adventist Crime Scenes: $12,725.00.
- This Isn’t Your Grandmother’s Great Controversy: $3,785.00.
- Charlie Hebdo And The Pope’s Visit To Congress: Not yet invoiced.
- Defending God's Prophet: Not yet invoiced.
Of this total, we’ve paid out $11,725.00. Our zeal is a bit in advance of our pocketbook, but we’ve been encouraged by recent e-mail (and a small but steady stream of fresh, new, internet offerings) to continue going forward by faith.
As I type these lines, I can think of only one scene in the first video that poses a problem. It’s a scene that I’d really, really like to amplify. I’d like to do for this scene what we did in Argentina – i.e., I’d like to take cameras and crew to a location that will bring this entire section alive.
If you’ve watched our Charlie Hebdo clip, then I’m sure you’ll agree – those 19 minutes wouldn’t have been nearly as powerful without our having first gone to Argentina and filmed some of those formerly top secret World War II files for ourselves. That trip brought this video alive! That’s precisely what I’d like to do for the sermon being produced even now: Defending God's Prophet.
What’s really providential about the location to which I’d like to go is that it’s in a country slated to be visited by our team as we secure new photographs for the revised edition of The (New, illustrated) Great Controversy. In short, going there now eliminates the need to go later.
Three of us – our video producer, an assistant, and I – could fly, film, and return to the U.S. within a week. In fact, I’m pretty sure we could have this entire video edited and uploaded by mid April.
For those of you who know of our determination to return to Israel to shoot God’s challenge to Islam, let me hasten to add that the shoot we’re contemplating now will NOT be in Israel. That will come later. Filming God’s challenge to Islam with Jerusalem’sDome of the Rock as a backdrop will involve jib, teleprompter, and at least three cameras. It promises to be a much more complicated and expensive undertaking than this one, which, because it involves a drone, won't be a piece of cake either. Our budget is $10,000.
Please prayerfully consider what you can do to get the three of us on that aircraft and over to that as yet unnamed country. I desperately want to go. The scenes filmed there will open a multitude of eyes, especially Catholic ones.
Guaranteed!
“Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation.” Romans 15:20.

The Beginning of the Loud Cry
Let every one who claims to believe that the Lord is soon coming, search the Scriptures as never before; for Satan is determined to try every device possible to keep souls in darkness, and blind the mind to the perils of the times in which we are living. Let every believer take up his Bible with earnest prayer, that he may be enlightened by the Holy Spirit as to what is truth, that he may know more of God and of Jesus Christ whom He has sent. Search for the truth as for hidden treasures, and disappoint the enemy.
The time of test is just upon us, for the loud cry of the third angel has already begun in the revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin-pardoning Redeemer. This is the beginning of the light of the angel whose glory shall fill the whole earth. For it is the work of every one to whom the message of warning has come, to lift up Jesus, to present Him to the world as revealed in types, as shadowed in symbols, as manifested in the revelations of the prophets, as unveiled in the lessons given to His disciples and in the wonderful miracles wrought for the sons of men. Search the Scriptures; for they are they that testify of Him.
If you would stand through the time of trouble, you must know Christ, and appropriate the gift of His righteousness, which He imputes to the repentant sinner.—The Review and Herald, November 22, 1892.

The Loud Cry
Angels were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, "Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities." This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel's message in 1844. The glory of God rested upon the patient, waiting saints, and they fearlessly gave the last solemn warning, proclaiming the fall of Babylon and calling upon God's people to come out of her that they might escape her fearful doom.
The light that was shed upon the waiting ones penetrated everywhere, and those in the churches who had any light, who had not heard and rejected the three messages, obeyed the call and left the fallen churches. Many had come to years of accountability since these messages had been given, and the light shone upon them, and they were privileged to choose life or death. Some chose life and took their stand with those who were looking for their Lord and keeping all His commandments. The third message was to do its work; all were to be tested upon it, and the precious ones were to be called out from the religious bodies. A compelling power moved the honest, while the manifestation of the power of God brought a fear and restraint upon their unbelieving relatives and friends so that they dared not, neither had they the power to, hinder those who felt the work of the Spirit of God upon them. The last call was carried even to the poor slaves, and the pious among them poured forth their songs of rapturous joy at the prospect of their happy deliverance. Their masters could not check them; fear and astonishment kept them silent. Mighty miracles were wrought, the sick were healed, and signs and wonders followed the believers. God was in the work, and every saint, fearless of consequences, followed the convictions of his own conscience and united with those who were keeping all the commandments of God; and with power they sounded abroad the third message. I saw that this message will close with power and strength far exceeding the midnight cry.
Servants of God, endowed with power from on high with their faces lighted up, and shining with holy consecration, went forth to proclaim the message from heaven. Souls that were scattered all through the religious bodies answered to the call, and the precious were hurried out of the doomed churches, as Lot was hurried out of Sodom before her destruction. God's people were strengthened by the excellent glory which rested upon them in rich abundance and prepared them to endure the hour of temptation. I heard everywhere a multitude of voices saying, "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

The Work Not Circumscribed by the Counsel of God

Oh, that the Lord might guide you! You should never in a single instance allow hearsay to move you to action, and yet you have sometimes done this. Never take action to narrow and circumscribe the work unless you know that you are moved to do so by the Spirit of the Lord. Our people are doing work for foreign missions, but there are home missions that need their help just as much as these foreign missions. We should make efforts to show our people the wants of the cause of God, and to open before them the need of using means that God has entrusted to them to advance the work of the Master both at home and abroad. Unless those who can help in-----are aroused to a sense of their duty, they will not recognize the work of God when the loud cry of the third angel shall be heard. When light goes forth to lighten the earth, instead of coming up to the help of the Lord, they will want to bind about His work to meet their narrow ideas. Let me tell you that the Lord will work in this last work in a manner very much out of the common order of things, and in a way that will be contrary to any human planning. There will be those among us who will always want to control the work of God, to dictate even what movements shall be made when the work goes forward under the direction of the angel who joins the third angel in the message to be given to the world. God will use ways and means by which it will be seen that He is taking the reins in His own hands. The workers will be surprised by the simple means that He will use to bring about and perfect His work of righteousness. Those who are accounted good workers will need to draw nigh to God, they will need the divine touch. They will need to drink more deeply and continuously at the fountain of living water, in order that they may discern God’s work at every point. Workers may make mistakes, but you should give them a chance to correct their errors, give them an opportunity to learn caution, by leaving the work in their hands.
