Belief That the End of The World is Coming Spawns TikTok Frenzy Called 'RaptureTok': What to Know

Is the rapture happening on Sept. 23, 2025? We're on the case.

SEPTEMBER 22, 2025

History repeats itself, and we have another prediction of the end times in 2025. Rumblings of the supposed Rapture are taking over the internet, ranging from fervent belief to healthy skepticism.

Is the rapture happening on Sept. 23, 2025? Let's dive a little deeper.
What is the Rapture?

No, we're not talking about the seminal New York rock band. The rapture, in this case, is the belief held by some Christians that in the end times, all Christians, both dead and alive, will rise to heaven.

Some may recall the belief that the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011, a date set by Christian radio host Harold Camping in 2005 after his initial prediction of Sept. 6, 1994 didn't pan out. As expected, nothing happened. The fear that the prediction instilled in some people was real, however, and in one case, a 14-year-old Russian teen died by suicide because of it.

Where did the new rapture date come from?

A South African pastor named Joshua Mhlakela said that he saw Jesus in a vision returning on Rosh Hashanah. “The rapture is upon us, whether you are ready or not,” Mhlakela said in an interview with CettwinzTV. “I saw Jesus sitting on his throne, and I could hear him very loud and clear saying, ‘I am coming soon.’”

According to Mhlakela, Jesus said he'd make his grand return "on the 23rd and 24th of September 2025."

How is the internet reacting to the news?

Believers of the prediction are quickly offering their excitement and, in some cases, even pointers on how to handle flying into the sky to meet their maker. It's called RaptureTok.

Some people have even appeared to quit their jobs, sell their cars and more in preparation for the rapture.

And others are parodying these videos, offering satirical advice for how to be "saved." If you're not Level 50 on Pokemon Go, better start now before the rapture.

My best advice? Stay calm, live your best life, and don't quit your job.

Date Setting: A Dangerous Distraction

Date Setting: A Dangerous Distraction

Profit From Prophets
Sep 4, 2025 #sdachurch #endtimes #prediction

Date setting in Bible prophecy is a dangerous distraction that pulls believers away from the message God has called us to share. Predicting timelines for events like the Sunday law, latter rain, or close of probation leads to confusion, deception, and spiritual harm. Marko Kolic reveals from Revelation 10’s warning of “time no longer,” Mark 13:32 (KJV), Acts 1:7, and Ellen White’s writings why all prophetic time periods — including the 2300-day prophecy of Daniel 8:14 — have already been fulfilled. Drawing lessons from the Millerite movement and the Great Disappointment of 1844, he shows how setting dates always ends in failure and damages the witness of truth. Instead of focusing on failed predictions, discover how to stay grounded in Present Truth, proclaim the Three Angels’ Messages, and prepare your heart for Jesus’ soon return — no matter when the final events unfold.

Dr. Richard Ruhling Issues Warning Regarding Impending Calamity May 26, 2013

2013-05-23 16:18:16 - An earthquake of biblical size and timing may initiate the scenes of Revelation on May 26. Ruhling believes America's parallels with Egypt imply an impending calamity

"America has a dozen points in common with Egypt in Bible times and their history ended in calamity with the Exodus," warns Dr Richard Ruhling, author and speaker on current events and Bible prophecy,

Since historians and many people believe "history repeats," Dr. Ruhling offers a dozen similarities of then and now.

1. Egypt was the strongest nations then as America has been recently.

2. Egypt was the source of food in times of famine as America is for many countries now.

3. Egypt had many gods; we have American Idol and many movie stars, rock stars and sports stars while the things of the Creator God get little focus or press.

4. Israel went to Egypt in a time of famine. In medieval Europe there was a famine for the Bible which was proscribed by the church, and pioneers found relief and freedom in America.

5. Another king came to power who knew not Joseph nor did he recognize the rights and freedoms previously give to Israel. Some in America's leadership ignore its Constitution and principles of self-government where the citizen was sovereign with some powers given to the state which then delegated a smaller segment of power to Washington, and we didn't meddle with other nations.

6. Israel came into bondage and was forced to work for Pharaoh. Today nearly half of America gets government aid in some form while the other half are taxed to provide food stamps, medical care and income to many who have learned to type into Google, How do I qualify for...

7. Bondage includes mandatory healthcare but medical care is a leading cause of illness and death.

8. Egypt was guilty of infanticide; America is guilty of abortion.

9. When God got ready to deliver His people, He attacked the gods of Egypt. They worshiped the Nile and it turned to blood. America's main idol is money; we shouldn't be surprised to see it go.

10. Egypt worshiped cattle and they became diseased. Many in America are powerless over appetite and we see increasing evidence of Mad Cow and cattle with TB, super-bugs, flesh-eating bacteria as plagues.

11. Egypt was not the Promised Land and Israel had no future there. Many today see little future for America. George W Bush bought 100,000 acres in Paraguay; maybe he knows something that we don't? America is not the Promised Land of which Paul wrote, "If you are Christ's, you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise," Galatians 3:29.

12. Historically, Egypt was "the king of the south," but in the prophecy of Daniel 11:40 America fits the description as it is overflowed in the time of the end with immigrants whose primary loyalty is to the king of the north, shown to be Babylon in Ezekiel 26:7. In the time of the end, this isn't a city in Iraq--Babylon is redefined as a wealthy religious power involved in governments in Revelation 17 .

Pharaoh kept ignoring the signs of the times until Egypt was decimated by calamity. Ruhling reminds us that "when they shall say, 'Peace and safety,' sudden destruction comes," 1Thess 5:3. He says this is a government theme since 9-11 and even more now with promises for gun control.

Ruhling thinks May 26 could be huge, based on Christ's sayings, "as in the days of Noah" when the Flood came with Passover timing, but in the 2nd spring month, and "like a man traveling to a far country"--fitting a provision for travel and Passover observance in the 2nd spring month, Numbers 9:10,11.

Dr. Richard Ruhling Issues Statement Regarding Possible Megaquake And Martial Law On May 25, 2013

(Encore feature)

An earthquake of biblical size and timing may initiate the scenes of Revelation on May 25.
The end of freedom with military, "standing where it ought not," suggests the need for Christians to evacuate cities if they see martial law being set up

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - May 12, 2013 - WILMINGTON, N.C. -- "An apocalyptic earthquake may initiate martial law and the end of freedom as we've known it," says Dr. Richard Ruhling, author and speaker on current events and Bible prophecy, citing the following five sources of information in the order of their helpfulness.

1. Government agencies. The science of seismology is not well-developed. Predictability by the US Dept of Interior and their geoglogic offices is not significant.

FEMA is more helpful with www.Ready.gov --Be Informed; Have a Plan; Make a Calamity Kit. You haven't done it? Now's a good time. FEMA bought 140 million meals for their May, 2012 drill on the New Madrid Fault. It may be overdue for a big one, and maybe FEMA knows something we don't. There seems to be a connection between calamities and government drills

A. Oklahoma City Murrah Bldg had the records of the Branch Davidians who burned alive in Waco, TX. The evidence was blown up on the 2nd anniversary, 1995. The BATF had a drill the day before Timothy McVeigh activated a fertilizer bomb out front. Patriots examining the scene found explosives attached to supporting columns that failed to go off, or the whole building would have come down.

B. World Trade Center, NORAD drill on September 10, 2001

C. Haiti's Earthquake, SOUTHCOM drill then.

D. Sandy Hook Drill CT Dept of Emergency Services & Public Protection with FEMA

E. Boston Marathon

2. Patriot sources. Alex Jones urged his listeners on July 25, 2001 to call the White House to cancel plans for a "false flag" terrorist event. 9-11 and other events have given Jones credibility, but he doesn't seem to know the nature and timing of the next event.

3. Nostradamus. The occult sources of information are forbidden in Scripture but one researcher cited Nostradamus: "A horrible destruction. Blood, thirst, famine, when the Comet shall run. [Two comets this year]...The great earthquake shall be in the month of May. Saturn, Capricorn, Jupiter, Mercury in Taurus, Venus, Also Cancer, Mars in Zero.” The astrology of planets led the researcher to May 8; not exactly.

4. Ellen White. Seventh-day Adventist founder and visionary saw church leaders in apostasy and risking judgments that would come in end-times. Visiting New York City, in vision she saw tall buildings "warranted to be fire-proof...These buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the blaze." Oddly, her description of 9/11 was published in Vol 9, pg 11-13 of Testimonies for the Church in 1909.

Earthquake. Visiting the medical school in Loma Linda, California that she founded, Ellen White had a vision of an earthquake: "Many lives were blotted out...It seemed that...Judgment day had come." She cited Zephaniah 1:8 for future punishment by God "in the day of the Lord's sacrifice" (Passover). ibid, pgs 92-95.

Reminiscent of her 9-11 vision published in Vol 9, pgs 11-13, the Seventh-day Adventist Sabbath Lesson for May 25 is titled "The Day of the Lord"  and it focuses on Zephaniah's "Day of Doom,"-- the same passages that Ellen White cited in her earthquake vision at Loma Linda. But the earthquake may affect much more than Loma Linda.

5. The Bible shines as a basis of integrating all the above information as follows:

Bible imagery supports May 25 for possible judgment, "as in the days of Noah" when the Flood had Passover timing, but in the 2nd spring month. This year it's May 25. Maybe it's a coincidence, but as Adventists celebrate their 150th anniversary on May 21, it will be the 10th day from the new moon day on May 11/12--the same day Noah entered the ark as some gathered outside to celebrate, Genesis 7:4,11.

The disciples were probably thinking of Passover for when God executes judgment when Christ said, "You don't know [understand], for the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country," Matthew 25:14. His clue on timing connects His last two last parables to second Passover, as follows:

Israelites traveled in the spring, but if they went to a far country and couldn't get back to Jerusalem for Passover, they were to keep it a month later, Numbers 9:10,11. Christ said the law was in effect "till heaven and earth pass." His return for a time of judgment could fit His sayings better than we've understood, due to translation of speech idioms.

2nd Passover (full moon) falls on Friday night/Saturday (May 24/25) and "watching" (being awake and praying that God will pass over us) is protective, says Ruhling, (Matt 24:43; Revelation 3:3)

Several recent geopolitical events have occurred on Jewish feast days, according to Ruhliing, including the U.S. Senate's approval for $760 billion in bank bailout on October 1, 2008. The new moon was in the sky that night--it was the Feast of Trumpets when anciently they blew trumpets for 10 days till the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur. Leviticus 23:24-27. In 2008, the stock market crashed for 10 days.

Ruhling believes that if the earthquake occurs with martial law being set up, Christians should evacuate according to the warning by Christ about military "standing where it ought not" in Mark 13:14.

Harold Camping Prediction: Christians to Ignore Oct. 21 Date (VIDEO)

Religion Professor Denounces End Times Prediction

By George J. Wienbarg Christian Post Reporter

Harold Camping’s end-of-the-world prediction date is around the corner and scheduled to occur Oct. 21. But after his failed May 21 Rapture prediction, many are expected to simply ignore Camping this time around.

Harold Camping Doomsday: Why Do People Listen to Him?
Harold Camping Doomsday: Why Do People Listen to Him?

http://video.christianpost.com/harold-camping-doomsday-why-do-people-listen-to-him-285

Glenn W. Shuck, an assistant professor of religion at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., told The Christian Post we are bound by our faith to ignore people like the eccentric Camping.

Camping, founder of Family Radio Network, predicted that Judgment Day and the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011. When spring passed without a Rapture, Camping stood by his prediction but tweaked it to say it was not a “physical” Rapture.

A stroke this summer that left Camping struggling to speak was not enough to silence the radio preacher. Through his slurred speech, sounding decidedly less certain, he still said that the Rapture would occur Oct. 21.

Shuck said he is surprised, not by the Camping prediction of the end of the world, but that people believed the radio host at all, especially since the May flop was not the first one. Camping had already predicted the Second Coming of Christ in 1994.

"It seems to me that people have forgotten about his previous prophecies," Shuck told CP.

Professor Shuck's studies have looked at new religious movements in the United States. He is the author of Marks of the Beast: The Left Behind Novels and the Struggle for Evangelical Identity.

"It surprises me that he (Camping) was able to continue this for this long," Shuck said.

Shuck doubts that the Christian community – or anyone else for that matter – will pay much attention to Camping after the May media hype. Still, there are still devout Camping followers who expect to see the Lord on Oct. 21.

Yeshua didn't come on Tishri 15?

Oh, now he's coming on Sukkot?

You folks really show your lack of wisdom by setting yet, another date now that today you were proved to be wrong? What does the New Testament of the Holy Bible say that Jesus Christ said about such speculation?

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
-Mark 13:32

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many

1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
---
11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
---
19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25Behold, I have told you before.

26Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

28For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
---
36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

At Apocalypse Central, Preparing for What Happens, or Doesn’t

Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals outside the Family Radio headquarters in Oakland with plans for vegan Last Supper meals.

By JESSE McKINLEY

Published: May 20, 2011

OAKLAND, Calif. — If Harold Camping and his followers are correct, Gertrude Stein’s famous comment about Oakland — that there is no there there — may finally be true. If not, some local churchgoers say they will set up encampments outside the headquarters of Mr. Camping, the self-proclaimed biblical soothsayer who has prophesied the end of the world on Saturday, with an eye toward consoling the disappointed.

In a state where fringe leaders like the Rev. Jim Jones and fringe groups the Heaven’s Gate cult have often found followers, and whose beliefs ended in mass suicide, not everyone is laughing about the prediction.

“They are going to be reeling,” said Pastor Jacob Denys of Calvary Bible Church in nearby Milpitas, so he and about 20 volunteers planned to spend Saturday outside Mr. Camping’s compound to let “them to know that God still loves them.”

On Friday, the only concrete sign of anything out of the ordinary was in the window of Family Radio — Mr. Camping’s radio enterprise, which has helped pay for and promote the May 21 prediction — announcing that the offices were closed.

“Sorry we missed you!” the sign concluded.

Family Radio’s representatives did not return calls and e-mails seeking comment on Friday. But whether or not the shuttered offices indicate Mr. Camping’s own pre-apocalyptic plans, what is certain is that the prediction has gained a life of its own.

And not surprisingly, some of the reactions have been light-hearted, especially considering history’s long list of swing-and-a-miss prophets. A Facebook page devoted to “Post-Rapture Looting” had assembled more than 500,000 promised attendees by Friday afternoon. “When everyone is gone and God’s not looking,” the page reads, “we need to pick up some sweet stereo equipment.”

On Friday, there was little activity at the compound, which includes a two-story suite of offices and a large cinder-block warehouse near the Oakland airport. Between the two buildings is a parking lot surrounded by a chain-link fence, topped with razor wire, containing several vehicles the Family Radio group has used to promote the May 21 prediction.

Inside the offices, a reception desk was unstaffed and the door was locked. Several boxes filled with brochures were visible, showing slogans like “Gay Pride: Planned by God as a Sign of the End.” A calendar on the desk had a red circle around the 21st with a note reading: “Rejoice!”

During a visit on Monday, Mr. Camping told a group at the compound that after Saturday there would be no chance left for anyone else to repent and be saved once the event began. “When the Judgment Day begins, there will be no more salvation, no more possibility of becoming right with God,” he said.

A former civil engineer, Mr. Camping, 89, built a small nonprofit empire in radio, going from a single station in San Francisco to more than 200 radio stations and a pair of television stations, according to The Bay Citizen, which also reported the organization’s most recent I.R.S. financial disclosure filings, showing $34 million in investments, $56 million in assets and $29 million in mortgages.

Mr. Camping has used those resources to buy billboard space across the country and print millions of pamphlets warning of doomsday and explaining his mathematical calculation for picking May 21, 2011: a complex formula involving the biblical flood survived by Noah; a 7,000-year clock ticking from that moment; and the subtraction of a year due to a difference between Old Testament and New Testament calendars.

Mr. Camping’s math has proved to be flawed before. He also predicted the end of the world in 1994. But this time around, Mr. Camping said he was supremely confident. “We’re just a few days away,” he said Monday.

Pastor Dave Nederhood, of Christian Reformed Church in Alameda, said he had met Mr. Camping on several occasions and had followed his radio broadcasts about the apocalypse closely.

“My concern is for the people that have bought into his lie and have sold their belongings, quit their jobs, left their churches and their families and now they are sitting at home listening to Family Radio and waiting for the end,” Mr. Nederhood said. “I’m terribly concerned.”

Although the Family Radio headquarters were mostly abandoned on Friday, the company’s flagship station — KEAR, 610 AM — continued to broadcast religious music, interspersed with sermons and biblically flavored life lessons.

There were also a few curiosity seekers who had made the pilgrimage, including one woman who refused to give her name but peered into the darkened building.

“Is this where,” she asked, “the world is going to end?”

Scott James and Malia Wollan contributed reporting.

Amazing Facts President and Nationally Recognized Prophecy Speaker Challenges Harold Camping's May 21st Judgment Day

Published: Monday, 16 May 2011 7:35 PM

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 16, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Family Radio speaker Harold Camping has boldly predicted that the world will end on Saturday, May 21, 2011, at precisely 6:00pm. Promoting it nationally through his extensive radio network, as well as on billboards and websites such as http://www.wecanknow.com, Camping's assertive claims have created a media frenzy around this predicted terrifying Armageddon event that will soon end the world as we know it.

But is Camping's prediction true? And worse, is it dangerous? Those are the questions posed by international speaker Doug Batchelor, a pastor and the president of Amazing Facts, a Christian ministry known globally for its comprehensive Bible prophecy presentations.

In fact, Pastor Batchelor has directly challenged Camping, offering him $100,000 to hand over the deed and rights to the Family Radio network following the May 21 deadline. He explains, "The Bible clearly teaches in Matthew 24:36 that 'No man knows the day and hour' of Jesus' return. Christ also warned that in the last days, there would be many false teachers. It is worth asking then, does Camping's prediction match what the Bible really tells us about Christ's return? I don't believe it does. But if Camping is right, he deserves the money to spread the message; if he's wrong, he should not own a radio network." Batchelor also warns, "Reckless predictions of the second coming of Christ create an artificial excitement among believers followed by a corresponding depression. In addition, it hardens skeptics in their unbelief and provides new fodder for cynics to mock the Christian faith." Across the country, hundreds of Family Radio listeners are quitting their jobs and selling their possessions.

Pastor Batchelor hopes to set the record straight and save millions of believers the devastation, harm, and the embarrassment that will come to them having put their faith in the wild opinions of men and potentially losing everything they have. He says, "Based on Bible prophecy, we'll all still be here May 22. So what can we do to save those caught up in this deception?" Amazing Facts is a Christian media ministry sharing the Bible through radio and television on more than 650 stations around the world. It also operates AFTV, a 24/7-satellite network (http://www.amazingfacts.tv). Each year, more than 300,000 people contact Amazing Facts to receive information about Bible prophecy and other topics. Its many websites also receive more than 4.9 million hits per year.

Pastor Batchelor has frequently taught on the book of Revelation on the Discovery Channel and appeared with Tim LaHaye in the National Geographic documentary The Riddle of Revelation. He is also the author of numerous articles and books on prophecy and hosts the weekly radio program Bible Answers Live.

The End is Near? The False Teaching of Harold Camping

The church is not to be arrogantly setting dates, but instead to be eagerly waiting for him. Of that we can be truly certain.

Monday, May 16, 2011

Harold Camping is now warning the world that the Day of Judgment will begin at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011. The 89-year-old founder of Family Radio has made such pronouncements before, most recently in 1994. He now says that he simply miscalculated then, but he is absolutely certain that he has the right calculation now. You have been warned.

Actually, millions of people in America have been warned through Camping’s radio program and by means of the more than 1,200 billboards his ministry has put up across the nation. According to press reports, Family Radio has put up 2,000 billboards in other nations, as well.

Camping is no stranger to controversy, but this one has caught national and international attention. He was wrong before, but this time he is absolutely certain that he is right. As he told New York magazine:

“God has given sooo much information in the Bible about this, and so many proofs, and so many signs, that we know it is absolutely going to happen without any question at all. There’s nothing in the Bible that God has ever prophesied — there’s many things that he prophesied would happen and they always have happened — but there’s nothing in the Bible that holds a candle to the amount of information to this tremendous truth of the end of the world. I would be absolutely in rebellion against God if I thought anything other than it is absolutely going to happen without any question.”

If you know the Bible and this statement confuses you, you are in good company. Harold Camping believes that God has revealed to him the exact dates of biblical events and the timeline of the judgment. He says that God revealed some “exquisite proof” that enabled him to determine a “finished product” timeline that ends on May 21, this coming Saturday.

As Michael S. Rosenwald of The Washington Post explains, Camping “says he came up with the very precise date of May 21 through a mathematical calculation that would probably crash Google’s computers.” Further, Camping’s mathematical formula “involves, among other things, the dates of floods, the signals of numbers in the Bible, multiplication, addition and subtraction thereof.” As many have noted, the math seems to make sense only to Harold Camping.

Yet, in a strange way, this just serves to affirm Camping in his teaching. On his website he states:

However, it was not until a very few years ago that the accurate knowledge of the entire timeline of history was revealed to true believers by God from the Bible. This timeline extends all the way to the end of time. During these past several years God has been revealing a great many truths, which have been completely hidden in the Bible until this time when we are so near the end of the world.

These “true believers” turn out to be Harold Camping and his disciples. Others, even professing Christians, will be in big trouble when Saturday comes, he believes.

The Christian church has seen this kind of false teaching before. William Miller and his Adventist followers (known, surely enough, as Millerites) believed that Christ would return on March 21, 1844. In the 1970s, popular Christian preachers and writers predicted that Christ would return on various dates now long in the past. All this is embarrassing enough, but now we have the teachings of Harold Camping to deal with. Given the public controversy, many people are wondering how Christians should think about his claims.

First, Christ specifically admonished his disciples not to claim such knowledge. In Acts 1:7, Jesus said, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.” In Matthew 24:36, Christ taught similarly: “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”

To state the case plainly, these two verses explicitly forbid Christians to claim the knowledge of such dates and times. Jesus clearly taught that the Father has not revealed such dates and timing, but has reserved that knowledge for himself. It is an act of incredible presumptuousness to claim that a human knows such a date, or has determined God’s timing by any means.

Second, the Bible does not contain hidden codes that we are to find and decipher. The Bible has been given to us in order that we might know the truth, and the truth is clearly revealed in its pages. We are not to look for hidden patterns of words, numbers, dates, or anything else. The Bible’s message is plain and requires no mathematical computation for its understanding. The claim that one has found a hidden code or system in the Bible is an insult to the Bible as the Word of God.

Third, Christians are indeed to be looking for Christ to return and seeking to be found faithful when Christ comes. We are not to draw a line in history and set a date, but we are to be about the Father’s business, sharing the Gospel and living faithful Christian lives. We are not to sit on rooftops like the Millerites, waiting for Christ’s return. We are to be busy doing what Christ has commanded us to do.

In Hebrews 9:28, we are taught that Christ will come a second time “to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” That is the faithful Christian response to the New Testament teachings about Christ’s coming. The church is not to be arrogantly setting dates, but instead to be eagerly waiting for him. Of that we can be truly certain.
