Talarico('s) Pastor: ‘People in This Church’ Wish Would-Be Trump Assassin ‘Had Been More Successful’

Much has been made about Texas U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico’s version, or perversion, of “Christianity.”

The Democrat nominee has called St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Austin home since he was two years old, he says. It has been led for 35 years by Rev. Jim Rigby, whom Talarico calls a “mentor.” Rev. Babs Miller is “Minister to the Parish,” according to the progressive church’s website. So, one might conclude Miller knows a thing or two about St. Andrews’ congregants and their beliefs.

“We still have people in this church who wish that the young man had not just nicked his ear, but had been more successful,” Miller said, according to a video obtained by Townhall Media.

She, of course, seems to be referring to Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old man who attempted to assassinate President Donald Trump as he rallied supporters in a Butler, Pennsylvania, field in 2024. Miller didn’t get more specific about which church members feel that way, so it’s unclear if they include Talarico.

Sources tell Townhall Media a trove of other videos that feature Miller and Rigby are forthcoming and indicate the true nature of Talarico’s religious beliefs.

“If you polled our members, and asked them if they were Christian, agnostic, or atheist, the vast majority would say agnostic or atheist because they don’t buy the religion that we got from the Puritans,” Miller said, according to another video reviewed by Townhall.

The inside look at Talarico’s church’s beliefs gives an unvarnished version of the “Christianity” he is offering to Texas voters.

He has sought to tone down his bizarre values as Election Day approaches, including the idea that God is “non-binary” and that “faith traditions all over the world” are “all equal pathways to truth.”

Adventist Pastor Detained by ICE at Houston Airport

12August2026

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston-area Seventh-day Adventist pastor was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while traveling with his wife to New York for a few days of vacation, according to reporting by Aidari Riera for Telemundo Houston.

Pastor Luis Morales, a father of two daughters and pastor of four Adventist congregations in the Houston area, was detained at George Bush Intercontinental Airport on August 7, according to his wife, Karina Morales.

The couple had just entered the airport when, according to Karina, two ICE agents approached them and called Morales by name.

“We have taken maybe six steps; it was really a short distance when some people spoke to us… ‘Mr. Luis,’ when they referred to my husband by name, we stopped right there. Turns out, they were two ICE agents. First thing one of the officials did was show us his ICE badge,” Karina said (translated from Spanish).

The encounter happened quickly. Karina said she handed her husband’s blood pressure medication to one of the officers and has not seen him since.

“It was so fast that, when we arrived, I told my daughter, ‘My love, we’re here. We have arrived at the airport.’ And the second message I sent to my daughter was to tell her, ‘Daddy just got arrested,’” she said.

A pastor in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains was executed extrajudicially along with six other people after members of an armed faction arrested him at his church residence in the town of Heban.

The Rev. Adil Idris Jangoul, of the Sudanese Episcopal Church, was detained on July 23 inside the church compound in Heban’s Erie neighborhood, where he lived, the religious freedom advocacy group Christian Solidarity Worldwide reported this week.

Members of the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement-North, or SPLM/N, an armed group in the region, seized his money and arrested him without incident.

However, his body was later found on a road alongside those of six other people, all from the Otoro ethnic group. All seven had been killed in extrajudicial executions.

A related attack struck Heban the same day. Members of the Otoro ethnic group, the same community whose members had been killed alongside Jangoul, carried out the raid, killing at least 10 people and seizing more than 20 hostages, among them children, CSW said.

One hostage was the Rev. Yakoub Brahim Tia. He once served as general secretary of the Sudanese Church of Christ and belongs to the Shawaya ethnic group. Six of his relatives were also seized.

All the hostages were released unharmed on July 28, after ministers from several ethnic communities appealed for their freedom.

HIV-positive pastor shocks community, charged with abuse of 14-year-old boy: 'Jesus don't like that'

Polk County Florida Sheriff Grady Judd details the charges against Timothy Chaneyfield, a pastor accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy, during a press conference on Aug. 4, 2026. | YouTube/Polk Sheriff

An HIV-positive Florida pastor is accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy he met on a dating app
, after allegedly going online to target children. The case has left residents shocked and horrified.

Timothy Chaneyfield, 42, the pastor at St. James United American Free Will Baptist Church in Winter Haven
, is facing several charges and was transferred to the Polk County Jail, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said during a press conference Tuesday. He is being held on a bond of over $350,000.

Chaneyfield faces the following charges: three counts of lewd battery of a minor, three counts of interfering with custody of a minor, one count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, three counts of traveling to meet a minor, four counts of an HIV-infected person having sex without informing a partner, one count of possession of cannabis, and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Judd said investigators spoke with members of the St. James church, who were “shocked” and said, “they had absolutely no idea their pastor was like that.” The investigation revealed that Chaneyfield had gone online searching for children and met the 14-year-old boy through a dating app.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO), the investigation began on July 28 after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tip came from Instagram, where Chaneyfield and the victim continued chatting after meeting on the dating app.

“And then Timothy Chaneyfield picked him up in front of his neighborhood on three different occasions,” Judd said. “And on those three different occasions, he wasn't preaching, but he was messing around.”

Investigators said Chaneyfield picked up the victim on three consecutive days at the entrance to his subdivision, drove him to his house in Winter Haven and sexually abused him.

The pastor allegedly told the victim during a phone call that he wanted to continue having sex with him. He also told the boy he had to travel to Baltimore; investigators later learned he was presiding over a funeral there.

'Our hearts are broken': Pastor mourns loss after deadly tent collapse at outdoor church event

Pastor Troy Keaton of EastLake Community Church in Moneta, Virginia, said his church family was grieving after one person died and more than 20 others were injured when a burst of wind lifted a tent during an outdoor 20th-anniversary service.

The collapse happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Friday during an outdoor service, and a severe storm cell had moved through the area with heavy rain, lightning and strong winds before the tent structure failed, according to a statement by Bedford County, Virginia.

Eleven people were taken by ambulance to local hospitals, and 11 others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. One person died at the scene.

Bedford 911 Emergency Communications received the initial report and classified the incident as a mass casualty event.

First responders from Moneta Volunteer Fire Department were already at the event and began rescue efforts immediately, while emergency personnel and resources from neighboring localities also responded, according to the county’s statement.

The tent had passed an inspection by the Bedford County Division of Building Inspections last Tuesday.

County officials extended condolences to the church community and thanked local and regional first responders for their work.

The release linked the failure to weather conditions, saying the storm cell brought heavy rain, lightning and strong winds before the tent failed.

'Providentially hindered': American pastor stranded in Jamaica amid 15-day water-only fast

An American pastor stranded in Jamaica by Hurricane Melissa is currently in the middle of a 15-day fast and is encouraging others to fast in prayer for those impacted by the storm that has left hundreds of thousands without power and dozens dead across the Caribbean.

Pastor Bill Devlin — a veteran of the Vietnam War and Purple Heart recipient who serves as the outreach pastor for Infinity Bible Church in Bronx, New York, and runs the ministries REDEEM! and Widows and Orphans — first arrived in Jamaica on Oct. 23 to deliver a speech at a pro-life Christian conference and officiated a wedding for "a brother in Jesus that has traveled the world" with him on Sunday.

After the wedding, Devlin learned that the airports were closed and flights were canceled in anticipation of Hurricane Melissa.

"I was providentially hindered here for a reason," Devlin insisted. "I'm just waiting on God to direct my steps at this point."

Melissa made landfall as a Category 5 storm in Jamaica on Tuesday and, as of Thursday morning, is now a Category 2 storm moving away from the Bahamas toward Bermuda. At least 30 people have been killed across Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic, with about two dozen killed by an overflowing river in Haiti. The storm caused widespread power outages, road blockages and communications issues.

Pastor Saša Gunjević First Adventist Pastor to Maintain Credentials After Coming Out

Pastor Saša Gunjević First Adventist Pastor to Maintain Credentials After Coming Out

NEWS HAMBURG-GRINDELBERG ADVENTIST CHURCH, HANSE CONFERENCE, NORTHERN GERMANY, SAŠA GUNJEVIĆ

24 March 2023 |

At the Hamburg-Grindelberg Adventist Church, in Northern Germany’s Hanse Conference, Pastor Saša Gunjević began his first sermon of the New Year on January 7, 2023. The title of his sermon paralleled the new motto chosen by Hanse Conference for 2023: “You Are a God Who Sees Me.” In his sermon (translated here into English), Gunjević tells the story of Hagar and her struggle as she is spurned from society and flees as a minority, only to have God stop her and ask her deep questions about her journey and her identity. God asks her to go back to an uncomfortable and untenable social environment, but promises her blessings and His support. She replies by saying “I have seen the One who sees me!”

Gunjević continued. “Hagar needed a safe place. Without this Advocate….without the God who sees her, she probably wouldn’t have returned. I also need a safe place and don’t know if I have one. ‘You are a God who sees me.’ I could always be open with Him. Now I want to entrust you with something very important to me. I’m bisexual. That means I can fall in love with both women and men. I have known this since I was 14 years old. I knew this when I was 16 years old and was baptized… It was clear to me from the start that if I wanted to become or remain a pastor, I couldn’t talk about it. That that would be impossible. So I studied theology without being able to talk about it with other Christians. I became a pastor and kept it to myself for 13 years.”

Throughout his sermon, Gunjević shares that he is grateful for the support of his friends and family, that he has understood that his “being is not a sin, because we cannot choose our sexual orientation and identity,” and that the Grindel church community will be afforded some time to study and discuss the issue together for those who have questions or theological concerns. He ends the sermon with an appeal:

I would like to continue working at Grindel to ensure that we too see people as God sees us. That we are a safe place for people with all kinds of challenges. For people who don’t share everything because they are afraid of being judged, rejected or sent into the desert. I believe in a God who is different from what we think He is. He can see differently than we do, love differently than we do, hope differently than we do, and also believe differently than we do. That is exactly why it is good if we learn from HIM. Get a new outlook from HIM, for each other, knowing that we belong together and don’t “have to” be against each other. Even if we see and believe things differently.

Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Harlem and Deception actress Meagan Good and (Seventh-day Adventist) minister/author DeVon Franklin are divorcing after nine years of marriage.

Good, 40, and Franklin, 43, met on the set of the 2011 film, Jumping the Broom, got engaged in May 2012 and tied the knot in June 2012.

Franklin filed for divorce Monday, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.

"After much prayer and consideration, we have decided to go into our futures separately but forever connected," the estranged couple said in a joint statement Tuesday.

"We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that is eternal. There's no one at fault, we believe this is the next best chapter in the evolution of our love," they added.

"We are incredibly grateful for the life-changing years we've spent together as husband and wife. We are also extremely thankful to God for the testimony being created inside us both and for blessing our lives with each other."

A pastor has reportedly been killed by a crocodile whilst carrying out a lakeside baptism in Ethiopia.

Docho Eshete was conducting a ceremony for 80 people when the reptile leapt up at him from the water on Sunday, according to African media.

The crocodile dragged the pastor into Lake Abaya - situated in the southern city of Arba Minch - as those with him watched on, the Ethiopian news site Borkena reported.

His body was later recovered from the water with bite marks on his back, legs and hands, according to local reports.

The crocodile was not captured.

Fishermen and those who attended the ceremony are said to have tried to save the pastor.

Residents and fishermen made a huge effort to save the pastor’s life but were unsuccessful.

Police officer Eiwnetu Kanko told local reporters that they used fishing nets to stop the crocodile from taking the pastor's body further into the water.

Shimelis Zenebe, director general of the Abaya National Park, told local radio station Sheger that crocodiles have started preying on animals on the edge of the lake.

He said this is because of decreasing fish populations.

Big guns from both sides defend pastor in bogus jury-tampering case

Michigan's claims against man who distributed brochures called threat to 1st Amendment Published: 1 day ago

He is also a photographer whose scenic work has been used commercially.

The libertarian Cato Institute advocates for liberty, free markets and limited government.

The American Civil Liberties Union is mostly on the opposite side in political disputes.

However, the two organizations are joining forces in a case that could set a precedent regarding free speech in Michigan.

It’s about the state’s prosecution of former pastor Keith Wood for handing out brochures about jury rights on a public sidewalk in front of the Mecosta County courthouse in November 2015 in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Officials charged him with a misdemeanor and a felony. While the felony count was dismissed, he was convicted on the misdemeanor for exercising his First Amendment rights, and his case is before the state Court of Appeals.

“It is difficult to overstate the extent to which the decision below, upholding the conviction of Keith Eric Wood, strikes at the core of the First Amendment,” Cato wrote.

“Mr. Wood was arrested and convicted for engaging in classic political advocacy (peacefully distributing pamphlets) in the quintessential public forum (the sidewalk in front of a courthouse) on a matter of public concern more ancient than Magna Carta, and at the heart of Anglo-Saxon law (the rights, duties, and independence of citizen jurors). One can well imagine why an English monarch might wish to suppress efforts to inform potential jurors of their power to resist tyranny by refusing to convict fellow citizens who had incurred the sovereign’s enmity; what is – or should be – more surprising is American courts American sovereigns to suppress such speech on American soil.”

Cato pointed out it was solely because the subject of the pamphlets was jury work that he was convicted.

Why did YouTube yank pastor's ISIS message?

By Todd Starnes

UPDATE: YouTube has reversed its ban on Pastor Ausbun’s channel. YouTube sent the pastor a message telling him his account is once again active and operational. “After a review of your account, we have confirmed that your YouTube account is not in violation of our Terms of Service.” Click here to watch the sermon Pastor Ausburn preached on ISIS.

The pastor of a small-town Baptist church in Georgia says he got banned from YouTube after he posted video of a Sunday sermon he gave about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

“Apparently, they didn’t like me preaching on radical Islam, so I got booted and banned,” said Daniel Ausbun, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Moreland, Ga. “This is sermon censorship.”
Ausbun concedes that YouTube can censor whatever videos it wishes. But he does wonder – what else is it banning?

On Aug. 24, Ausbun delivered a sermon about the Islamic State, terrorism, radical Islam and Christian persecution in the Middle East.

“So many people in the church had been asking about it,” the pastor told me. “This was almost more of an educational sermon.”

Based on a copy of his sermon notes, the pastor based his message on several New Testament verses – including Matthew 24:9. That verse reads: “Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name.”

Ausbun told his congregation that Middle Eastern Christians were given a choice to convert to Islam, pay a tax, leave immediately or face death. He also warned that ISIS is recruiting Westerners. He encouraged the church to pray for the Gospel message to advance despite terrorism and war.

About three-and-a-half years ago, Ausbun started a YouTube channel for church members who missed the Sunday service. Over the years, he posted dozens of sermon videos without a single problem – until Aug. 27.

“I received an email from YouTube telling me that my account had been terminated for violation of the terms of service and their community guidelines,” he said. “They actually terminated my entire account.”

Ausbun said he decided to read YouTube’s community guidelines, and that’s when he put two and two together. They thought his sermon amounted to hate speech.

YouTube clearly states that it doesn’t permit “hate speech” – and that includes “speech which attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion” and so on and so forth.

“They didn’t tell me exactly why they terminated my account, but by default there was nothing else wrong,” Ausbun said. “It had to be hate speech.”

For the past week he’s been trying to reach someone at YouTube to explain what happened. So far, his calls have gone unreturned. I sent them a message, too. So far, no response.

“They didn’t like what I preached on,” Ausbun said. “I shared about radical Islam from a Christian perspective, and they consider that to be hate speech.”

I wish I could direct you to a link of the pastor’s message but YouTube deleted it. So, I can’t tell you verbatim what the pastor said. However, according to his sermon notes, there was nothing hateful about what he preached.

Ausbun concedes that YouTube can censor whatever videos it wishes. But he does wonder – what else is it banning?

YouTube came under a firestorm of criticism after ISIS was allowed to post a video showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

“What the hell is the matter with YouTube?” Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly said on “America’s Newsroom.” “Posting that. The beheading. What the hell is the matter with YouTube? Nobody should post that.”

YouTube removed the video and explained its policy in a statement to the website Mediaite.
“YouTube has clear policies that prohibit content like gratuitous violence, hate speech and incitement to commit violent acts, and we remove videos violating these policies when flagged by our users,” the statement read. “We also terminate any account registered by a member of a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization and used in an official capacity to further its interests.”

To the best of anyone’s knowledge, the First Baptist Church in Moreland is not a foreign terrorist organization. The pastor says he simply wanted to inform his church about the threat posed by Islamic terrorists and pray for the victims of their Islamic slaughter. Is that hate speech?

“I’m literally terminated – like I’m the terrorist,” the pastor said.

Ausbun said what happened to him could happen to other American pastors under the guise of banning “hate speech.”

“Anything a pastor preaches on – whether it be radical Islam, homosexuality, the teachings of Jesus – YouTube can label that hate speech and censor their sermons,” he said.

The Georgia preacher said he decided to contact me because people need to be aware of YouTube’s censorship.

“ISIS is recruiting Americans to get trained over there, and we know what they are going to do,” he said. “They are not going to stay in Iraq and Syria. They’re coming back to our country.

Pastors should be speaking out on this. This is a grave concern to our Christian brothers and sisters who are literally dying for their faith, and it could affect our lives here.”

In the meantime, Pastor Ausbun has launched a new video channel – on Vimeo.
