CANDACE OWENS, ISRAEL & ROME_09.29.2025 Chris Pinto

Today's Show: CANDACE OWENS, ISRAEL & ROME
Chris discusses the controversies involving Candace Owens and her conversion to Roman Catholicism. She has claimed that Charlie Kirk was planning to convert just before he was assassinated. Can this be correct? We also examine her claims about modern Israel, and also about Catholicism vs. Protestantism. One of her guests claimed that Oliver Cromwell and the Puritans were "Satanic" because they executed King Charles I during the English Civil War. But what does the Bible teach about the authority of kings? Can they be held accountable for their crimes? Finally, we examine her claim that history supports Roman Catholicism as the most ancient form of Christianity. Does true Church history support this argument ... or not?

But can ye not discern the signs of the times?
The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.
Matthew 16:1-4.

Seventh-day Adventist Conference Responds to the Murder of Charlie Kirk
September 26, 2025 NewsHound

NNEC—In the aftermath of the murder of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, the administrative committee of the Northern New England Conference wish to express our sympathy to Erika Kirk, their two children and extended family. We are committed to praying for them in this time of grief and loss.
We affirm Charlie’s courage and commitment to the Christian faith, Biblical marriage, strong families, sexual purity, and the seventh day Sabbath. Because of him, many people have been drawn to the truth of the Bible including the seventh-day Sabbath.
It is not our purpose to embrace or deny Mr. Kirk’s specific political views but rather focus on biblical unity and our mission to proclaim the Three Angels’ Messages.
Finally, we affirm all who love God and Country. God has worked for all people, and His footprints in the history of America, including its Constitution, are bulwarks supporting liberty of conscience. Revelation 12 shows that God raised up this nation as a refuge for His people and launching pad for the gospel. Revelation 13 warns of changes to come that shall deny the first Amendment rights of all Americans. Revelation 14 includes an urgent warning not to blend church and state.
We grieve the deaths of all who seek to stand for religious liberty and free speech, however imperfectly, and are determined to continue the legacy that defends truth and leads souls out of darkness and into the marvelous light of Jesus.
****
We are encouraged by this balanced response to the tragic slaying of Charlie Kirk. The authors of this statement exemplify the wisdom of considering a matter before responding (Proverbs 18:16; James 1:19), and demonstrate the Christlike virtue of mourning with those who mourn.

Ilhan Omar Introduces War Powers Resolution to End U.S. Military Hostilities Against Venezuela
Press Release: Rep. Ilhan Omar Introduces War Powers Resolution to End U.S. Military Hostilities Against Venezuela
By: Quiver CongressRadar

Rep. Ilhan Omar introduced a resolution to end unauthorized U.S. military actions against Venezuela and designated organizations.
Quiver AI Summary
Representative Ilhan Omar introduced a War Powers Resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military actions against Venezuela and designated transnational criminal organizations. The resolution follows strikes by the Trump administration, described as lacking congressional authorization or legal justification, and emphasizes Congress's exclusive power to declare war.
Omar, joined by other Congressional Progressive Caucus leaders, criticized the escalation of military force and highlighted the need for accountability in military engagement. The resolution also seeks to clarify that designations of foreign terrorist organizations do not authorize military action.
Supporters of the resolution, including advocacy groups, argue that recent military actions are unlawful and detrimental, emphasizing the importance of legislative oversight in matters of war. They advocate for a focus on diplomatic solutions rather than military interventions, citing widespread public opposition to unauthorized military conflict.

Hegseth orders hundreds of senior military officers to Virginia for highly unusual meeting

Hundreds of US generals and admirals around the globe have been called to Virginia for a meeting with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth next Tuesday, several US officials told CNN, though the reason for the meeting is unclear.
The meeting is expected to be held at the military installation in Quantico, Virginia, multiple officials said, adding that no one seems to know what the meeting is about, including the general and flag officers themselves, or why it was suddenly added to the calendar.
One source familiar said they’d heard theories ranging from a group physical fitness test, to receiving a briefing on the state of the Defense Department, to a mass firing of officers, but regardless of the reason the sudden convening of so many senior military officers is highly unusual.
“It’s being referred to as the general squid games,” one official quipped.
Some officials also voiced security concerns about having so many high-ranking officers in one place at the same time. A congressional aide told CNN that unless Hegseth planned to announce “a major new military campaign or a complete overhaul of the military command structure, I can’t imagine a good reason for this.”
The Washington Post first reported news of the meeting early Thursday.
Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed that Hegseth will be “addressing his senior military leaders early next week.” The Pentagon did not answer specific questions about the purpose of the meeting or if the directive was for all general and flag officers in the military.
It’s unclear if the order was for all general and flag officers — those with the rank of one star or higher — or just those in certain command or leadership roles
The meeting comes as the Trump administration has fired a slew of high-profile general and flag officers since taking office in January, in many instances due to Hegseth’s campaign against diversity-related issues, but often also for unspecified reasons. Hegseth also ordered the Defense Department in May to cut the number of four-star generals and admirals by at least 20%.
The officers who have been fired thus far include former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. CQ Brown; Adm. Lisa Franchetti, former Chief of Naval Operations; Adm. Linda Fagan, former Commandant of the Coast Guard; Gen. James Slife, former vice chief of the Air Force; Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse, former head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency; Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, former chief of the Navy Reserve; and Rear Adm. Milton Sands, former head of Naval Special Warfare Command.
Before taking on the role of defense secretary, Hegseth repeatedly voiced disdain for much of the military’s currently serving general and flag officer corps. In a podcast appearance last summer, Hegseth said a third of the military’s senior officers are “actively complicit” in what he argued is a move towards politicization of the military. In a second podcast, he said senior officers are “playing by all the wrong rules” to cater to “idealogues in Washington, DC.”

Similar words used by Ilhan Omar and Neal C. Wilson.
"Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh-day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint...that attitude on the church's part was nothing more than a manifestation of widespread anti-popery among conservative Protestant denominations in the early part of this century and the latter part of the last, and which has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventist Church is concerned." (Neal C. Wilson, past president of the Seventh-day Adventist General Conference, Court Transcript of United States vs the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission vs the Pacific Press Publishing Association and the General Conference, Reply Brief for Defendants, p 4, Civil Case #74-2025 CBR, presided over by Judge Charles B. Renfrew, U.S. District Court, San Francisco, California, 1974-1975.)

Belief That the End of The World is Coming Spawns TikTok Frenzy Called 'RaptureTok': What to Know
Is the rapture happening on Sept. 23, 2025? We're on the case.
History repeats itself, and we have another prediction of the end times in 2025. Rumblings of the supposed Rapture are taking over the internet, ranging from fervent belief to healthy skepticism.
Is the rapture happening on Sept. 23, 2025? Let's dive a little deeper.
What is the Rapture?
No, we're not talking about the seminal New York rock band. The rapture, in this case, is the belief held by some Christians that in the end times, all Christians, both dead and alive, will rise to heaven.
Some may recall the belief that the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011, a date set by Christian radio host Harold Camping in 2005 after his initial prediction of Sept. 6, 1994 didn't pan out. As expected, nothing happened. The fear that the prediction instilled in some people was real, however, and in one case, a 14-year-old Russian teen died by suicide because of it.
Where did the new rapture date come from?
A South African pastor named Joshua Mhlakela said that he saw Jesus in a vision returning on Rosh Hashanah. “The rapture is upon us, whether you are ready or not,” Mhlakela said in an interview with CettwinzTV. “I saw Jesus sitting on his throne, and I could hear him very loud and clear saying, ‘I am coming soon.’”
According to Mhlakela, Jesus said he'd make his grand return "on the 23rd and 24th of September 2025."
How is the internet reacting to the news?
Believers of the prediction are quickly offering their excitement and, in some cases, even pointers on how to handle flying into the sky to meet their maker. It's called RaptureTok.
Some people have even appeared to quit their jobs, sell their cars and more in preparation for the rapture.
And others are parodying these videos, offering satirical advice for how to be "saved." If you're not Level 50 on Pokemon Go, better start now before the rapture.
My best advice? Stay calm, live your best life, and don't quit your job.

Trump says he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Ben Carson
BY MEG KINNARD
Updated 10:13 PM EDT, September 20, 2025
President Donald Trump said Saturday that he will award Ben Carson the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, the third such award he’s announced this month.
“Congratulations, Ben. He didn’t know this,” Trump said in a speech during an event at Mount Vernon for American Cornerstone Institute, founded by Carson. “He didn’t know it. I hope he’s happy.”
A former neurosurgeon who ran against Trump for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Carson, 74, went on to serve as Housing and Urban Development secretary during Trump’s first administration.
The one-time rivals developed a strong bond, and Carson — seen at one point as among the top contenders for Trump’s running mate in the 2024 campaign — served as Trump’s national faith chairman during last year’s race.
A staunch social conservative who has opposed abortion rights and same-sex marriage, Carson has become a popular conservative speaker and author.
The Medal of Freedom, established in 1963, is awarded to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, or cultural or other significant public endeavors.
“Mysterious Doomsday Books”: The Great Controversy Mass Mailing Hits Baltimore
The sudden influx in Baltimore quickly became a talking point. Social media and discussion platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit showed many images of the paperbacks stacked in apartment lobbies, left in little libraries, or tossed out on recycling day. While some locals reacted with confusion or irritation, others found humor in the situation. At The Club Car—a drag bar and art venue—owners even hosted a “book club” happy hour, offering discounted drinks to patrons who brought in copies of the unsolicited book.
Remnant’s Mission and Methods
Remnant self-identifies as a nonprofit Christian ministry founded in 1985 in Coldwater, Michigan. Its stated purpose is “the sole purpose of leading people closer to Christ.” Over the past four decades, the publisher asserts that it has printed and distributed millions of books, including Bible study sets, audiobooks of White’s writings, and specialty editions like the Young Scholar Study Bible.
Currently, one of the company’s largest projects is the printing and distribution of 10 million complete versions of The Great Controversy through “zip code mailings, door-to-door contacts, and personal contacts,” according to their website. Remnant also sponsors the Bibles for Africa and Beyond program, which aims to provide scripture in different languages to people in indigent nations. In its own words, the ministry is “truly dedicated to the work of spreading the gospel message like the leaves of autumn.”
This sense of scale has drawn notice—and criticism. A Baltimore Instagram account, Sail Local, noted Remnant leaders’ ambition of distributing up to one billion copies worldwide. The environmental and financial costs have not gone unnoticed, with local commenters calculating that such a campaign would require tens of millions of trees and hundreds of millions of dollars in postage.
According to WYPR, the city’s NPR affiliate, Remnant associate Ron Goss explained the rationale behind the mailings: “The goal is to try to urge people to accept it. They can throw it away. It’s up to them, but we just want to try to help them understand about history.” He estimated the cost of printing and postage at about $1.40 per book—cheap, in his view, for eternal stakes.

Catholic leaders acknowledge tension between Trump immigration policy and religious liberty

By Kate Scanlon
WASHINGTON (OSV News) — The same week President Donald Trump spoke at a hearing of the Department of Justice’s Religious Liberty Commission in Washington, a key Catholic bishop said some of his immigration policies risk presenting the church with religious liberty challenges.
“It is interesting that since the administration has put a large amount of emphasis on all kinds of liberty right, including religious liberty, that we find ourselves in this conflict on some of these court cases recently,” Bishop Mark J. Seitz of El Paso, Texas, told reporters before a roundtable discussion on migration issues hosted by the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life at Georgetown University.
Trump in May signed an executive order creating a religious liberty commission, which includes Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York and Bishop Robert E. Barron of Winona-Rochester, Minn. Bishop Seitz noted their presence on the commission, saying, “a couple of our bishops belong to it; and there’s also an advisory committee, more bishops belong to it.”

Various media reports indicate that Pope Leo is preparing his first apostolic exhortation and his first encyclical, to be published in the upcoming months.
According to Reuters, Pope Leo is writing an apostolic exhortation by the name of Dilexit te (He loved you), while other outlets have reported that he is also preparing an encyclical focused on AI and other social issues.
But what do we actually know about Pope Leo’s first published documents? The Pillar takes a look.
What will the subject of the pope’s first apostolic exhortation be?
According to several media reports, the pope will publish his first apostolic exhortation in early October.
Many reports indicate that Leo has picked up an apostolic exhortation on the needs of the poor, begun by Pope Francis in early 2025 by the name of Dilexit te, echoing the name of Francis’ last encyclical, Dilexit nos (He loved us).
That would mean that Leo is following in the footsteps of Francis.

Pope Leo says he is concerned by ‘some things’ happening in the US in first major interview since election
By CNN Newsource
Published September 18, 2025 6:19 am
By Christopher Lamb, CNN
(CNN) — Pope Leo XIV voiced concern over “some things” happening in the United States and revealed he turned down plans for an AI version of himself in his first major interview since his election.
The first American pope highlighted the significance of a letter his predecessor Pope Francis had sent to US bishops earlier this year rebuking the Trump administration’s immigration deportation plans.
“I was very happy to see how the American bishops picked that up, and some of them were courageous enough to go with that,” he said, referring to public comments made in the wake of the letter.
But Leo insisted he won’t engage in “partisan politics,” saying it’s up to church leaders in the United States to take the lead on engaging with the Trump administration.
Leo, who was elected in May this year, gave the interview to Elise Allen, senior correspondent at Catholic news site Crux, for her biography, “Leo XIV: Citizen of the World, Missionary of the XXI Century.”
Here are some highlights.
American pope on the American president
Leo said he is yet to have any direct contact with President Donald Trump, although he pointed out that his older brother, Louis Prevost, had met with Trump in the White House.
Leo said he is “very close” with his brothers “even though one is far on one end politically, we’re in different places.”
The pope said there are “some things going on in the (United) States that are of concern” and that “sometimes decisions are made more based on economics than on human dignity and human support.”
It is understood that some of Leo’s main concerns with the Trump administration regard immigration, and he brought up the subject when he met US Vice President JD Vance earlier this year.
Leo said he is not afraid to “raise issues,” to “continue to challenge” and to engage Trump directly if given the opportunity. He said that, unlike his Argentine predecessor, “the fact that I am American means, among other things, people can’t say, like they did about Francis, ‘he doesn’t understand the United States, he just doesn’t see what’s going on’.”
He stressed he would “want to support” Trump in his efforts “promoting peace in the world.”
But he said he’ll seek mainly to engage with the bishops of the US, won’t “get involved in partisan politics” and, when asked if whether being an American pope might give him more sway with Trump, replied: “Not necessarily.”
Leo is signaling he’s going to be less combative with Trump than his predecessor, but that he is not going to be afraid to speak out if needed. Before his election, Leo had reposted tweets critical of Trump and Vance.

Death and bombs have upper hand in Gaza-Catholic priest
Story by VRG
(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 19 - Father Gabriel Romanelli, the priest of the Catholic Holy Family parish in Gaza, spoke of the death and destruction taking place in the enclave on Friday in a video message transmitted in Naples Cathedral for the feast of the city's patron, Saint Januarius (San Gennaro). "The situation continues to be very serious throughout the Gaza Strip with the bombings," he said. "A war situation continues and the death that has already taken away tens of thousands of people continues: more than 18,000 children have been killed and the hostages still have not experienced the right to live in freedom, the wounded and the sick still have no possibility of treatment because the hospital lacks everything. The weapons have taken over." Romanelli said that he was staying put after Israel launched its offensive to take control of Gaza City on Tuesday, when the Vatican said Pope Leo XIV had telephoned him to express his "concern" and assure him of his "prayer and closeness". Romanelli was among several wounded in a strike by Israeli forces on the Holy Family Catholic Church that killed three people in July. Before his death in April, Pope Francis had spoken by phone nearly every day with Romanelli to check up on the Gaza parish following the start of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023. (ANSA).

Prepare to Meet thy God

The synod on synodality has been the greatest step forward of the second Vatican council which led to the unity of all the churches in this world despite the denomination, despite the faith, despite their belief. In this step forward, the movement towards sunday law has been greatly pushed forward, as the writings of Pope John Paul II has strongly suggested that a civil legislation take place to make Sunday holy in a universal scale. Take a listen to these truths, and let the words of God touch our hearts and move us to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ in this world. May God bless us all.

Jayapal Hosts Shadow Hearing on Trump’s Assault on Families and Communities
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, today hosted a Shadow Hearing titled Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump’s Assault Destroys U.S. Families and Communities. This hearing examined the human costs of deportation on U.S. families and communities. It is the third in her series, Kidnapped and Disappeared, that highlights the multifaceted impacts of Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
“Donald Trump lied to the American people. He lied when he said he would bring grocery prices down. He lied when he said he would release the Epstein Files. And he sure as hell lied when it came to immigration enforcement,” said Jayapal. “This indiscriminate immigration enforcement has led to an increased number of family separations. According to a report earlier this week, more than 400 children have been sent to Office of Refugee Settlement shelters from the interior of the United States. In some cases, parents are being told their children will be taken away unless they give up their right to a hearing and to their country of birth. In other cases, children who arrived as unaccompanied minors are being sent back to government shelters for months after they had already been released to vetted sponsors. Families belong together, today we heard absolutely heartbreaking stories about how so many have been ripped apart — and we will continue to shine a light on these horrifying cases.”

FCC chair threatens ABC and Disney over Jimmy Kimmel’s remarks about Charlie Kirk
The Federal Communications Commission’s Trump-aligned chairman on Wednesday threatened to “take action” against Disney and ABC over Jimmy Kimmel’s recent comments about Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer.
During his Monday evening monologue, Kimmel suggested Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, might have been a pro-Trump Republican. “The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”
The ABC late-night host’s remarks constituted “the sickest conduct possible,” FCC chair Brendan Carr told right-wing podcaster Benny Johnson on Wednesday. Carr suggested his FCC could move to revoke ABC affiliate licenses as a way to force Disney to punish Kimmel.
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”
Carr added that the broadcasters, including ABC, “have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Carr attacked Kimmel as “talentless” and suggested the late-night comedian’s comments displayed “some sort of desperate irrelevance.” Disney and ABC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This was not the first time Carr has gone after ABC in recent months. In July, the Trump appointee told Fox News that long-running daytime talk show “The View” is “now in the crosshairs of this administration” over co-host Joy Behar’s scathing criticism of President Trump.
Kimmel has also been a frequent target of President Trump’s ire. Shortly after CBS announced the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s late-night talk show — a move Carr publicly celebrated — Trump suggested that “Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel.”

According to the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, NLM and the "True Crime Community" have been linked to at least nine school shooting plots.[6]
History
On 21 August 2024, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness released a threat assessment. According to the report, NLM is "[...] looking for more soldiers to join our ranks, true misanthropic individuals" and they "only accept people that do irl [in real life] action". One precondition for acceptance into NLM is the practice of self harm in the form of "[...] deep bloody cuts that represent us [NLM]".[1]
The FBI arrested a man from Virginia on 17 December 2024 and confiscated 150 explosive devices, most of which were pipe bombs. They were stored in a backpack with a "#NoLivesMatter" patch attached to it. There was no evidence that he was associated with the No Lives Matter organization.[7][8]
The Left belittles prayer. Are they right?
By Jerry Newcombe, CP Op-Ed Contributor Sunday, September 07, 2025
Last week, the shooter in Minneapolis of little children in a Catholic church-school during mass was discovered to have written on one of his weapons, “Where is your god [sic].” He used a picture of Jesus on his target in practice before the big day of shooting last Wednesday.
And now the left says to us in effect: “Don’t pray, just prey.” The last part refers to allowing unfettered evil to flourish — to continue to prey on the weak and vulnerable.
As Gary Bauer noted last Thursday: “Satan wrote the script for the atrocities that transpired yesterday at a Minneapolis Catholic church and school. The transgender shooter’s message, ‘Where’s your God now,’ wasn’t referring to Allah. It was referring to the God of the Bible, the God Catholics, Jews, and Protestants worship. The only God, by the way. ‘Where’s your God now’ was Satan mocking God.”
It’s amazing to see how swift the condemnation from the Left was against even the idea of prayers — as if prayers alone were the solution offered to try and stop these things. They do hint at the solution: to get back to the knowledge of God, the one who is there and who will hold us all accountable one day.

New US ambassador to Holy See presents credentials to Pope Leo
The Catholic Herald
Pope Leo XIV has received Brian Burch, the new US ambassador to the Holy See, in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace.
During the audience on Saturday morning, 13 September, Burch formally presented his letters of credence to the Pope, reports the Catholic News Agency (CNA).
Burch, 50, was confirmed in the position by the US Senate on 2 August in a 49-44 vote. He was nominated by President Donald Trump in December 2024 and succeeds former ambassador Joe Donnelly, who served under the Joe Biden administration.
In a statement following his confirmation, Burch said he was “profoundly grateful” to the president and Senate for the opportunity to serve, and asked for the prayers of Catholics across the United States “that I may serve honourably and faithfully in the noble adventure ahead".
He also noted that "[i]n a remarkable coincidence, or what I prefer to attribute to providence, Pope Leo XIV is from Chicago, which is also my hometown".
Now a native of Phoenix, Arizona, Burch is married and the father of nine children. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas in 1997 and began his career in business before moving into Catholic nonprofit leadership.
From 2005 until his confirmation this year, he was president of CatholicVote Civic Action and the CatholicVote Education Fund, organisations dedicated to promoting Catholic engagement in public life, CNA reports.
It adds that during his time with CatholicVote, Burch became a nationally recognised figure in Catholic-related political advocacy, which included his encouraging US Catholics to participate in the democratic process, especially defending religious liberty and the sanctity of life.
Burch has emphasised the enduring importance of the US-Holy See relationship, describing it as “one of the most unique in the world”. He has also highlighted the Catholic Church’s “global reach and moral witness” as a vital part of the US diplomatic mission to promote peace, human dignity and prosperity around the world, CNA reports.

Trump will 'go easy' on teetering Starmer over free speech during State Visit with PM 'on the ropes' - as Sadiq Khan stokes feud...

Donald Trump could go easy on Sir Keir Starmer during his state visit to Britain with the Prime Minister 'on the ropes' after a series of domestic hits to his leadership, allies of the president have claimed.
Labour had feared that the president could use the visit, which starts tonight, to lambast the PM over freedom of speech in the UK, amid claims from conservatives that the Online Safety Bill impinges on the rights of Americans.
But sources today told The Telegraph that the president could go easy on Sir Keir due to the significant domestic pressure he is under.
One said: 'This trip will be about the splendour of Windsor Castle, inspecting the troops, the big banquet. This is a big deal for him. And the plan is to keep it about that.'
The American leader is being feted with a stay in Windsor Castle where he will be hosted by the King and treated to a ceremonial welcome on Wednesday and a lavish state banquet.
Security will be paramount, with Mr Trump confined to the private Windsor estate on the first full day, before heading to the Prime Minister's country residence Chequers on Thursday.
They arrive in the midst of a furious row over freedom of speech fuelled by the president and his allies which could cause a flashpoint adding to the pressure on Prime Minister
Just hours ahead of the president's arrival, Sir Sadiq Khan has reignited his feud with the Republican, claiming record numbers of Americans are moving to London to escape him.

Mainline Protestantism’s Fall?
Published on
September 11, 2025
By\Mark Tooley

Mainline Protestant denominations have been declining for sixty years and some of these denominations will not meaningfully much longer exist. But will all their congregations recede or die with them?
Perhaps not. The collapse of denominational loyalties in America may be good news for many Mainline congregations.
In the old days, many congregants were deeply committed to the denominations, reading their publications, attending their conferences, heeding their pronouncements, financially supporting them generously and appreciating the wider identity they offered, often across generations. Many congregants across decades left their Mainline denominations with sadness as those denominations further liberalized and failed to offer a compelling spiritual message. Many did not leave, but their children and grandchildren were not interested in the Mainline denominations, leaving institutional religion altogether, or joining more evangelical churches that often were nondenominational.
The membership of Mainline Protestant denominations has declined by millions, and thousands of churches have closed. Many more thousands of churches, some barely surviving with a dwindling number of elderly members, will close soon. But thousands of Mainline congregations endure. Some are vital. A few are growing. And nearly universally they have very few members who care about their denominations. These members simply like their congregations.
I attend a United Methodist congregation. Several years ago, in the wake of the schism, I had anticipated joining the new Global Methodist Church. But the GMC is not present in my area and, so far, seems uninterested in planting in new areas. Of course, I do not like United Methodism’s newly liberalized standards and much else about the denomination. But these changes seem not to affect my church. Nobody there talks about the denomination. Last year I asked our since retired pastor if anybody in the church under the age of sixty cared about the denomination. He quickly replied no. I should have asked how many over the age of sixty cared. Likely not many.
We now have a new pastor. His opening sermon series was on the Nicene Creed. Our hymns and liturgy are traditional. As a traditionalist, there’s nothing to which I can object and much to enjoy. The next pastor could be very different. But likely many even very institutionalist clergy must adapt to the new reality of denominational indifference. No more are congregations kept through automatic loyalty. They must be retained through ongoing ministry that feeds their spiritual desires.
Season of Creation opens with call for “peaceful habitation” amid climate crisis
Season of Creation opens with call for “peaceful habitation” amid climate crisis
The World Council of Churches (WCC) and ecumenical partners opened the 2025 Season of Creation with an ecumenical prayer service on 1 September. Faith leaders from across denominations worldwide called for "peaceful habitation" and healing of creation.

Speaking at the service were Rev. Dr Hyunju Bae, from the Presbyterian Church of Korea, and vice moderator of the WCC Commission on Climate Justice and Sustainable Development; Rev. Atahualpa Hernandez Miranda from Colombia, and Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu from the Democratic Republic of Congo. They called for immediate ecological transformation and climate justice.
Ecumenical partners work throughout the Season of Creation to engage Christians worldwide in prayer and action for creation care. Hundreds of participants globally joined the online service, which opened with the biblical promise from Isaiah chapter 32: “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”
Speakers acknowledged the gap between this vision and current climate realities affecting vulnerable communities.
“Fear and anxiety have become daily visitors for many people. A growing number of children and young people suffer from anxiety. Climate inaction plunges them into silent despair about their own future on this planet,” said Bae during her reflection on peace. She called for urgent action: “People from all walks of life should develop climate solutions together and act upon them through radical collaboration for a just transition.”
She emphasized the role of faith communities: “Peace with creation is waiting for committed Christians who are motivated by God's peace, rise above eco-anxiety and focus on action and advocacy, in contemplation and resilience.”
During the prayer, a collective confession acknowledged ecological misbehaviours and intercessions were offered for environmental refugees and communities affected by climate change.
The Season of Creation runs from 1 September until 4 October, with the theme “Peace with Creation,” engaging 2.2 billion Christians worldwide in creation care. A St Francis Day service led by the Season Of Creation youth committee will conclude the season on 4 October, gathering Christian voices worldwide via Zoom and YouTube.
