The Light of Health Reform, September 18

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2.

The light God has given on health reform is for our salvation and the salvation of the world. Men and women should be informed in regard to the human habitation, fitted up by our Creator as His dwelling place, and over which He desires us to be faithful stewards.... Our bodies are wonderfully made, and the Lord requires us to keep them in order. All are under obligation to Him to keep the human structure in a healthful, wholesome condition, that every muscle, every organ, may be used in the service of God.... God, who formed the wonderful structure of the body, will take special care to keep it in order, if men cooperate, instead of working at cross-purposes, with Him.

These grand truths must be given to the world. We must reach the people where they are, and by example and precept lead them to see the beauties of the better way. The world is in sad need of instruction along these lines. The time has come when each soul must be staunch and true to every ray of light God has given, and begin in earnest to give this gospel of health to the people. We shall have strength and power to do this if we practice these truths in our own lives....

Those who are enjoying the precious blessings which come to them through obeying this message of mercy will do all in their power that others may share the same blessings. But we may rest assured that Satan will do all in his power to prevent anything like a message of reform from being given to the world at this time. Shall God’s people be found on the enemy’s side, either by failing to heed it themselves, or by neglecting to give it to others? “He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.” Matthew 12:30. If we would be safe, we must not fail to know on whose side we stand.33The Review and Herald, November 12, 1901.

God desires His light bearers ever to keep a high standard before them. By precept and example they must hold this perfect standard high above Satan’s false standard.34The Review and Herald, November 12, 1901.

Ellen White’s 1863 Vision That Changed Adventist History Forever

Beyond the Pages

 Aug 22, 2026

🌿 What happened in June 1863 changed Adventist health history forever.

During a small gathering in Michigan, Ellen G. White received a vision that emphasized the connection between physical health, the mind, daily habits, temperance, and spiritual life. What seemed simple — nutrition, rest, exercise, water, fresh air, and self-control — would influence generations and help shape the Adventist medical missionary work. 🥗💧🌤️

In this video, you will discover the story of the 1863 Health Reform Vision, understand why it became so important to early Adventists, and see how its principles still raise powerful questions today:

✨ How are we caring for the life God has given us?

😴 Are we respecting our need for proper rest?

🥦 Are our habits strengthening or weakening our bodies?

🧠 How are physical health and mental clarity connected?

🙏 What do temperance and self-control have to do with the Christian life?

More than a list of rules, Ellen White’s health reform message points toward a life of balance, responsibility, temperance, and service to God and others.

📖 A story about practical faith, daily choices, and small decisions that can transform an entire life.

Loma Linda University Health Study Links Egg Consumption to Better Brain Health

A new study from Loma Linda University Health suggests that regular egg consumption may help lower the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease among older adults, according to an article in the Loma Linda University Health news, by Ansel Oliver.

Researchers found that adults aged 65 and older who ate at least five eggs per week had up to a 27% lower risk of Alzheimer’s compared to those who never ate eggs. Even moderate intake showed benefits, with participants consuming eggs one to three times per month showing a 17% lower risk and those eating eggs two to four times weekly experiencing a 20% reduction.

The findings were published in the Journal of Nutrition in a study analyzing data from approximately 40,000 participants in the Adventist Health Study-2 cohort over an average follow-up period of 15.3 years.

“Compared to never eating eggs, eating at least five eggs per week can decrease risk of Alzheimer’s,” said Joan Sabaté, the study’s principal investigator.

Researchers said eggs contain nutrients linked to brain health, including choline, lutein, zeaxanthin, omega-3 fatty acids, and phospholipids that support memory and cognitive function. The study examined both direct egg consumption and eggs consumed through baked and packaged foods.

“Research supports eggs as part of a healthy diet,” said Jisoo Oh, the study’s lead author.

“Seventh-day Adventists do eat a healthier diet than the general public, and we want people to focus on overall health along with this knowledge about the benefit of eggs.”

The study received partial funding from the American Egg Board, while the original cohort data was funded by the National Institutes of Health.

It’s also important to note that Seventh-day Adventist church founder, Ellen White,
discouraged the consumption of eggs.

These Common Food Preservatives May Be Linked To Cancer, According To A New Study

  • A large study followed more than 100,000 people for nearly 15 years and found links between higher intake of certain preservatives and a modestly higher cancer risk.
  • The researchers flagged a handful of additives, but experts stress the results show association, not causation, and may reflect overall ultra-processed diets.
  • If you’re concerned, focus on limiting ultra-processed foods, reading labels, and building meals around whole foods rather than panicking and purging your kitchen.

A recent study called into question the long-term health effects of common food preservatives. The study, published by BMJ Group, tracked more than 100,000 people for nearly 15 years and found that a handful of common food preservatives may be linked to a higher risk of cancer. While previous research has suggested certain preservatives can damage cells and DNA, scientists wanted to see whether these additives were associated with increased cancer risk in real-world diets.

The study examined 17 preservatives and found that only some were linked to a higher cancer risk. In particular, potassium sorbate, potassium nitrate, sodium nitrite, and sulfites were associated with an increased risk of overall cancer, as well as specific types like breast and prostate cancer. However, just because people who consumed more preservatives had a higher risk of developing cancer doesn't mean the preservatives themselves caused it—other factors could also be at play.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has made significant strides in images and video during the past couple of years, and the Sanitarium Health Food Company in Australia and New Zealand is tapping into some of those new possibilities, according to the company executive general manager Todd Saunders. In a presentation during the 2026 Adventist Health Food Association (AHFA) Conference in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Saunders and Rachel Glasbergen, who leads The Alternative Dairy Company for Sanitarium, shared how the company is leveraging AI use to streamline the company ads across platforms and what they have learned along the way.

In their February 10 presentation, Saunders and Glasbergen highlighted the opportunities, challenges, and possibilities of AI in the area of marketing and advertising. They did it by sharing some case studies based on their experience of The Alternative Dairy Company, a brand under Sanitarium that produces specialized, barista-grade plant-based milks, including oat, almond, soy, and coconut. Designed for cafés, their products are crafted for superior frothing and latte art, and in many cases use locally sourced ingredients.

Unripe, plantains are savory and starchy, then, as they transition from green to yellow, speckled with dots, they soften into their sweetest and silkiest form. This healthy fruit is as dynamic as it is delicious.
