7.1 earthquake shakes Japan, triggers landslide

An earthquake off Japan's northeast coast on Feb. 13, rattled much of the country, including this orthopedic clinic in Sendai city, which shook for at least 30 seconds.
A 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred off the eastern coast of Tohoku, Japan, at 11:07 p.m., local time, shaking portions of northern and central Japan. At least 50 injuries have been reported following the earthquake.
The magnitude of the quake may be adjusted as officials continue to investigate the event.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 56 miles (90 km) east-northeast of Namie, Japan, located along the coast of the Fukushima prefecture. Heavy shaking was reported in Sendai with light shaking reported as far south as Tokyo.
No tsunami warnings have been issued for Japan and across the Pacific Ocean Basin.
Several earthquakes with magnitudes from 4.3 to 5.3 have followed the initial event.
The earthquake triggered a landslide which spilled onto the Joban Expressway near Soma City in the Fukushima Prefecture with no injuries reported as of Saturday night. No injuries have been reported due to the landslide.

As of Saturday night, local time, a small leak has been observed at the Fukushima Daini Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1, NHK reported. It is believed that the water overflowed from the cooling pool due to the shaking from the earthquake. There is currently no concern for exposure to workers, stated the Nuclear Regulatory Agency.
There are no abnormalities being reported at other nuclear power plants in Fukushima and Onagawa, announced Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato at a press conference.
According to a local news source, no abnormalities were found at the Tokai nuclear power.
Around 950,000 households are without power in the Tokyo Electric Power Company and Tohoku Electric Power service areas, according to a survey by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Train service has been suspended along the Yokosuka Line between the Zushi and Kurihama stations due to the impact of the earthquake. At the JR Fukushima Station, water was reportedly leaking from the ceiling.
Evacuation centers are opening across the Fukushima prefecture.
More reports of damage and additional injuries are expected in the coming hours as rescue and recovery efforts commence.
As recovery efforts continue through the weekend and into the beginning of next week, AccuWeather meteorologist warn that a robust storm system can create difficult conditions.
"A storm is forecast to track along the southern coast of Japan from late Sunday through Monday," stated AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys," which will bring areas of heavy rain to much of the country."
Widespread rainfall totals of 1-2 inches (25-50 mm) are expected across Japan with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 5 inches (125 mm) most likely in the higher elevations.
Following in the wake of the storm, cold air will rush into the region and can create bands of heavy sea-effect snow showers along the coast of the Sea of Japan into the second half of the week.

Due to the lockdowns, many people around the world are losing their jobs, businesses are going bankrupt and governments are indebting themselves to the hilt. Those who believe that the negative impact of the coronavirus measures are more damaging than the lives being saved have started asking themselves: Is there a hidden agenda behind it all?
Last week marked the 50th annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. For the first time, the forum was held in a virtual setting, with no heads of state, captains of industry and others physically attending. The theme of this year’s sessions: The Great Reset.
The Great Reset has become a buzzword in circles of conspiracy thinkers.
Some think that it refers to global financial elites and world leaders that planned the pandemic, deliberately letting loose a coronavirus to cause conditions that will allow a restructuring of the economy, the financial system, politics and society. They refer to the pandemic as a ‘plandemic’.
Others refrain from any opinion about the cause of the pandemic and merely think the elites are just taking advantage of the virus.
Many believe the main goal of the Great Reset is to take global control by instituting a totalitarian regime, and by extension, a so-called new world order.
Such a regime would abolish personal ownership and property rights, send the military into cities, impose mandatory vaccination, and create isolation camps for people who resist.
Or be thrown into “isolation camps for people who resist.”
[LD] This is already being done in Germany where “detention camps“—concentration camps in all but name—are being set up for Covid “criminals”.

In Britain, the situation rapidly spins out of control. Here totalitarianism begins to rear its ugly head ominously, with controversial plans being set in motion to fine Covid “cheats” £10,000 ($13,800) and sentence them to TEN YEARS in prison.
“The purpose behind the Government’s invoking of imprisonment,” columnist Stephen Glover notes in the Daily Mail, “is to instil fear. Rule by fear is often effective.” (See “A decade in prison for lying where you travelled? It’s laughable. Some have served less for murder.”) The former head of the British government’s legal department, Sir Jonathan Jones, tweeted scornfully: “If anyone is ever sentenced to ten years for lying on a form, I’ll eat my mask.” [LD]

There are no such mega-camps in Canada, she points out, adding: “This is a slimy, dishonest move. The man in Canada was placed into a decent HOTEL.” (See comment made by Wyandotte below).
Conspiracy thinking has become a derogatory term. And, in fact, there are many examples of conspiracy theories that are ludicrous. But at the same time, conspiracy theories have often turned out to be conspiracy facts.
And so what to make of The Big Reset Conspiracy Theory?
A hidden agenda
It is understandable that people have started asking themselves why governments have taken such draconian measures to stop the pandemic. The virus may be deadlier than the flu, but it’s not a killer virus like ebola or the Spanish Flu. To many, the cure seems worse than the disease.
Due to coronavirus lockdown measures, many are suffering from severe physical and psychological stress. They have lost jobs or have gone bankrupt. Their governments are indebting themselves to the hilt. The World Food Programme (WFP) executive director, David Beasley, has warned that the world faces “multiple famines of biblical proportions” that could result in 300,000 deaths per day — a “hunger pandemic”. Financial experts have warned we are bringing ourselves to the brink of a financial crisis, one that could be worse than the Great Depression of the 1930s.
To an increasing number of people it seems that the lives that are being destroyed by the coronavirus lockdown measures outweigh the work of saving lives, by far.
Many therefore have started to think there’s a hidden agenda behind it all.
This agenda, to conspiracy theorists, is called The Great Reset, and in their view, it is being masterminded by the global elites via the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Klaus Schwab, 82, who founded the forum 50 years ago and is still leading it, is sometimes depicted on social and alternative media as the character Blofeld from the James Bond films: a bald-headed villain, holding a white cat, who directs the international criminal organisation SPECTRE and aspires world dominance.
KLAUS SCHWAB, German engineer and economist, the alleged mastermind behind the Great Reset, often compared to a James Bond villain.
Schwab co-authored a book published in July 2020 entitled ‘Covid-19: The Great Reset’. I’ve read this book and—to be honest — I didn’t find anything in the book that substantiates the Great Reset Conspiracy Theory. There’s nothing new or particularly controversial here.
As editor Andrew Stuttaford of the National Review puts it: “COVID-19 is just the latest excuse for Schwab to renew his longstanding campaign to replace free market capitalism with stakeholder capitalism.”
Moreover, many of the ideals expressed by Schwab in his book, coauthored with his wife, are inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN) that were set in 2015 and are intended to be achieved in the year 2030.
The catch phrase “building back better” that was used in Joe Biden’s election campaign and in speeches of Boris Johnson, Justin Trudeau and other world leaders does not stem from the WEF’s Great Reset initiative as is often claimed by conspiracy thinkers. It’s been part of the of the UN’s vocabulary for at least 15 years.
And so: Move along, nothing to see here? No conspiracy going on at the WEF in Davos?
LD: Not so. It’s not as simple as that. The world has changed irreparably in the last year. And all the ideas implicit in the Great Reset have now come to the fore. There’s no going back to “the good old days”. It’s now a one-way street to a world dystopia. Unless, of course, remedial action is taken without delay. [LD]
Danger of totalitarianism looming
There isn’t a shred of evidence the coronavirus was brought into the world on purpose. But at the same time it’s a known fact that, with every crisis, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
“The 1,000 richest people on the planet recouped their COVID-19 losses within just nine months,” NGO Oxfam reported last week on the opening day of the WEF. “But it could take more than a decade for the world’s poorest to recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic.”
Did wealthy actors take advantage of the coronavirus by pushing governments into taking draconian measures that would cause a worldwide economic crisis? As far as I know, there’s no supporting evidence for this theory at all.
However, concerns about the development towards authoritarianism or totalitarianism need to be taken very seriously. Western governments have taken a set of freedom-restricting measures that are unprecedented in peacetime. As the Austrian-British economist Friedrich Hayek put it: “Emergencies have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.”
Governments are always eager to take more control over society—and once they’ve taken it, they will never easily let go of it.
Will governments send the military into the streets to crack down on demonstrations? Will they impose mandatory vaccination and create isolation camps for people who resist?
In some European countries, including the UK and The Netherlands, politicians have already suggested sending in the military to assist the police. In Germany, four federal states declared having plans to detain repeated quarantine breakers in facilities that historically have been either detention or refugee centres.

To force people into taking a vaccination, governments do not have to make them mandatory. They can simply exclude people that aren’t vaccinated from activities like travel. Such measures are already being prepared. The more people that have been vaccinated, the harder it will become for vaccination refusers to resist.

I came across this fascinating quotation on page 568 of this monumental tome running to 868 pages. It is Hitler addressing the three supreme military leaders of his armed forces, all anxious to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and advising restraint. This secret meeting occurred in the German Chancellery in November 1939, just as World War II in its early stages was gathering momentum. “In struggle I see the fate of all beings,” Hitler declared. “Nobody can avoid fighting if he does not want to go under.” America’s disillusioned political dissidents—I refer in particular to the patriotic militias—need to bear these compelling words in mind. Unless they fight for their country in its hour of looming doom, unless they make a stand before it is too late, they will go under. The choice is theirs: either to fight or perish. [LD]

(Natural News) After a year of denial, the mainstream media is finally coming to terms with the fact that Anthony Fauci is responsible for “hot-wiring” the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) with experimental gain-of-function technology, which ultimately turned it into a global “pandemic.”
Were it not for the artificial insertion of amino acids and other additives by Fauci and his team, the novel Chinese virus never would have gained the traction it did in terms of being a human-to-human contagion.
In its natural form, the unmodified bat coronavirus would have stayed within the animal kingdom. Instead, thanks to Fauci, it morphed into a tool that is now being used to destroy the global economy and herd the masses straight into the new world order.
“These gain-of-function experiments were an important part of the NIH’s approach to vaccine development, and Anthony Fauci was reluctant to stop funding them,” writes Nicholson Baker for the Intelligencer.
“He and Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health, along with Gary Nabel, NIAID (National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) director of vaccine research, published an opinion piece in the Washington Post in which they contend that the ferret flu experiments, and others like them, were ‘a risk worth taking.'”
Fauci and his team wrote at the time that “[i]mportant information and insights can come from generating a potentially dangerous virus in the laboratory.” Such research, they added, can further “help delineate the principles of virus transmission between species.”

Fauci told reporter that “nature is the worst bioterrorist”
In an interview with news reporters, Fauci once contended that “nature is the worst bioterrorist,” effectively shirking all responsibility for his involvement in weaponizing it against humanity.
Fauci was a key player in changing the way that NIH-funded research was conducted. Under his leadership, the focus shifted to the weaponization of nature, whether it involved anthrax, AIDS, or some other bioweapon developed by the deep state.
After the 9/11 attacks, Fauci dramatically increased his agency’s “anti-terror” budget from $53 million in 2001 to a whopping $1.7 billion in 2003. At that time, he set aside his efforts to develop an AIDS vaccine and shifted focus to perfecting the weaponization of brucellosis, anthrax, tularemia, and the plague.
“We are making this the highest priority,” Fauci said at the time. “We are really marshaling all available resources.”
Fauci was also concerned that it was taking far too long to develop new vaccines. His stated goal was to develop new “vaccine systems” and “vaccine platforms” that could be tailored to develop new vaccine drugs within a day.
“Our goal within the next 20 years is ‘bug to drug’ in 24 hours,” Fauci said. “This would specifically meet the challenge of genetically engineered bioagents.”
The first “Project Bioshield” contract, as it is called, was awarded by Fauci to VaxGen, a California pharmaceutical company. Fauci gave the company $878 million in taxpayer money to create new anthrax vaccines.
Interestingly, it has been almost exactly 20 years since Fauci made those statements, and here we are with President Donald Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed” program, which fast-tracked the release of Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines at speeds never before seen.
When challenged by some 750 scientists in a letter protesting the direction in which he was taking the NIH, Fauci doubled down and insisted that the money needed to be spent “on biodefense.”
“We disagree with the notion that biodefense concerns are of ‘low public-health significance,'” he added.

It will be fascinating to watch how a strongly liberal Jewish-Catholic administration operates.
US President Joe Biden has appointed a strong, experienced team for his new administration. Among them are a minyan and a half of Jews. Indeed, I wonder if there has ever been a more Jewish US administration – and as well, a full minyan of strongly liberal Catholics, including Biden himself. Here are the 15 Jews who comprise Biden’s Jewish A-Team. I strongly believe that a vigorous American presence in world affairs, spearheaded by the Jewish A-Team, is in Israel’s long-term interest, more than an “America first” administration that made the US largely irrelevant in global affairs.
• Antony Blinken, Secretary of State. Blinken is a veteran career diplomat. His stepfather, Samuel Pisar, was the only Holocaust survivor of some 900 children in his Polish school; he was rescued after fleeing from a Nazi death march and finding refuge in a US armed corps tank – an episode Blinken recounted movingly when Biden introduced him.
• David Cohen, Deputy CIA Director. Cohen returns to this role after filling it from 2015 to 2017. Cohen is the son of a prominent Boston Jewish physician.
• Janet Yellen, Secretary of the Treasury. She is the first woman to fill this role; previously, she headed the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. A 2016 Trump attack ad featured three Jews, including Yellen, and reflected anti-Semitic tropes. She is a renowned labor economist.
• Merrick Garland, Attorney-General. Garland was blocked from becoming a Supreme Court Justice by then-Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, in the last year of the Obama presidency. After being nominated Garland spoke of his grandparents, who fled antisemitism in Europe and moved to the US.
• Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence. She was deputy director of the CIA under Obama, the first woman to hold this job. Her mother was a well-known Jewish painter, Adrian Rappin (Rappaport) and Haines identifies with Israel; she visited Israel with her non-Jewish father.
• Ron Klain, Chief of Staff. He was Biden’s chief of staff in his vice presidential days. Klain speaks of his childhood synagogue in Indianapolis, where he learned multiple Torah portions for his bar mitzvah, and of his commitment to raising Jewish children.
• Eric Lander, Director, Office of Science & Technology Policy. Lander is a leading geneticist. His position has been elevated to Cabinet level. Lander has spoken of being the subject of antisemitic criticism by James Watson, discoverer of the DNA double helix.
• Rachel Levine, Deputy Secretary, Health and Human Services. Levine grew up in a Conservative Jewish home in Massachusetts. She is the first open transgender person to be nominated for a position requiring Senate confirmation.
• Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security. Mayorkas, 60, was the Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security under Obama. He was born in Cuba, to a Cuban Jewish father and Romanian Jewish mother who survived the Shoah. He has worked closely with Jewish groups in the past.
• Anne Neuberger, Director of Cybersecurity, National Security Agency. She is an Orthodox Jew, from Brooklyn, educated through college in Orthodox schools. She helped establish the US Cyber Command and led security efforts in the 2018 midterm elections. Her grandparents are Holocaust survivors and her parents were among the passengers on the Air France flight in 1976, kidnapped to Uganda and rescued in Israel’s Entebbe operation. She founded Sister to Sister, an NGO that serves single mothers across the US.
• Wendy Sherman, Deputy Secretary of State. She was born in Maryland to a Jewish family. Her father served in the Marines. She will be the first woman to be appointed Deputy Secretary of State. A career diplomat, she was the lead negotiator for the controversial Iran nuclear deal.
• Jeff Zients, COVID-19 Coordinator. He was born in Washington, DC, and was raised in Kensington, Maryland. His family is Jewish. From 2014 through 2017 he was the director of the National Economic Council. He will fill the crucial role of directing and coordinating efforts to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Rochelle Walensky, Director, Center for Disease Control. She and her husband are members of Temple Emanuel, in Newton, Massachusetts, a prominent Conservative synagogue. She is an expert on AIDS and HIV and served as Chief of Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital, and professor at Harvard Medical School.
• Jared Bernstein, member, Council of Economic Advisors. Under Obama, Bernstein was the chief economist and economic adviser to Biden.
• Douglas Emhoff, second gentleman, husband of US Vice President Kamala Harris. He is the first-ever husband of a US Vice President. He was born in Brooklyn, son of Jewish parents Barbara and Michael Emhoff. He grew up in New Jersey. He is an entertainment lawyer and teaches at Georgetown University Law Center.
This completes the 15 Jews in senior positions in the Biden administration. And, just for interest, here are the ten Catholics among Biden’s appointees, also a possible all-time high.
Foremost, Biden himself, a church-going liberal Catholic; Gen. Lloyd Austin, already been confirmed as secretary of defense; Deb Haaland, Interior; Tom Vilsack, Agriculture; Gina Raimondo, Commerce; Marty Walsh, Labor; Denis McDonough, Veterans Affairs; Jennifer Granholm, Energy; Xavier Becerra, Health and Human Services; and John Kerry, presidential envoy for climate.
To be fair, the Trump administration, too, had many Jews in senior positions. Violent BLM protest in NYC leaves two NYPD cops injured, 11 arrested

A Black Lives Matter march through Midtown Manhattan turned violent Friday night, with 11 protesters arrested.
The NYPD reported that two officers suffered minor injuries during the protest, which was attended by about 100 marchers; officials could not immediately say how the cops were hurt.
At least some of those arrested were accused of attacking Daily News photographer Sam Costanza at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 54th Street in the mistaken belief that he was a cop, sources said.

The NYPD reported that two officers suffered minor injuries during the protest, which was attended by about 100 marchers; officials could not immediately say how the cops were hurt.
At least some of those arrested were accused of attacking Daily News photographer Sam Costanza at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 54th Street in the mistaken belief that he was a cop, sources said.

Stratospheric aerosol injection
The ability of stratospheric aerosols to create a global dimming effect has made them a possible candidate for use in solar radiation management climate engineering projects[1] to limit the effect and impact of climate change due to rising levels of greenhouse gases.[2] Delivery of precursor sulfide gases such as sulfuric acid,[3] hydrogen sulfide (H
2S) or sulfur dioxide (SO
2) by artillery, aircraft[4] and balloons has been proposed.[5] Non-sulfide substances such as calcite have also been proposed given their benefits to the ozone layer.[6] It appears that this could counter most changes to temperature and precipitation, take effect rapidly, have low direct implementation costs, and be reversible in its direct climatic effects.[7] However, it would do so imperfectly and other effects are possible.[8]

One study calculated the impact of injecting sulfate particles, or aerosols, every one to four years into the stratosphere in amounts equal to those lofted by the volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991,[9] but did not address the many technical and political challenges involved in potential solar radiation management (SRM) efforts.[10] If found to be economically, environmentally and technologically viable, such injections could provide a "grace period" of up to 20 years by which time atmospheric greenhouse gas pollution would need to be reduced to safe levels.
It has been suggested that the direct delivery of precursors could be achieved using sulfide gases such as dimethyl sulfide, sulfur dioxide (SO
2), carbonyl sulfide, or hydrogen sulfide (H
2S).[5] These compounds would be delivered using artillery, aircraft (such as the high-flying F-15C)[4] or balloons, and result in the formation of compounds with the sulfate anion SO42−.[5]
According to estimates, "one kilogram of well placed sulfur in the stratosphere would roughly offset the warming effect of several hundred thousand kilograms of carbon dioxide."[11
