De Blasio Pushes for Private Employers to Institute Vaccine Mandates

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is urging private employers to institute vaccine mandates in order to stem the rise in COVID-19 cases. This comes as the city announced earlier this week that, starting in August, workers at public hospitals and city-run health clinics will either have to get vaccinated or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing.

“I’m calling upon all New York City employers, including our private hospitals, to move immediately to some form of mandate whatever the maximum you feel you can do. Any form of mandate, including the type we’re doing, you know, the either/or approach, any type of mandate helps,” de Blasio said in an interview Friday with WNYC. “It will move the ball. It will get more people vaccinated.”

As the country has rolled back pandemic restrictions, there has been an ongoing debate about whether vaccinations should be mandatory for workers in different industries or a requirement to dine at a restaurant or attend an event.

Back in June, the city of San Francisco said that COVID-19 vaccination will be a requirement for all its city workers, about 35,000 people, once the vaccines receive full approval from the FDA. That approval may not come until fall at the earliest, however. Meanwhile in France, President Emmanuel Macron recently declared that a vaccine passport would be required to board a plane or train and even to go to a restaurant or shopping center, reportedly prompting a surge in vaccinations.

Mayor de Blasio did not rule out the possibility of following a similar path.

“I’m not always the biggest Macron fan, but in this case, I think that’s a direction we need to seriously consider — I think there’s a lot to be said for that,” de Blasio said, emphasizing that New York City is in a much better position than it was last year, which he credits to vaccinations.

“We’re in a good position because we laid down that heavy foundation of vaccination,” he added, “and we can make it through and we can continue to recover if we, you know, rapidly address this situation, and that’s where I want to see more aggressive and more creative approaches. And it’s all about vaccination. We can talk about anything else, I’m happy to, but the ball game is vaccination.”

Ćorić: Common Day of Rest is Needed More Than Ever

ZAGREB, 22 July 2021 - Economy Minister Tomislav Ćorić said on Thursday that the focus of amendments to the Commerce Act would-be workers and their families, noting that in the present time of growing alienation a common day of rest was needed more than ever.

Ćorić was speaking at a round table on non-working Sundays, held at the Croatian Catholic University. Participants agreed that a non-working Sunday was a "civilizational issue" that should be regulated by law, adding that it would not affect retail shops' sales, while some called for a further reduction of the 16 working Sundays annually as proposed by the government.

Ćorić said that the government would develop a new legal framework to regulate Sunday work in dialogue with the Church, universities, trade unions, and employers, making it a day for workers, their families, and friends.

Croatia is part of the western civilization, fostering the Christian tradition of keeping Sundays free of work, and these principles are embedded in European social values and constitute the social teaching of the Catholic Church, he said.

Ćorić said that people have the need and right to work, but they are increasingly becoming slaves to work. He cited the results of a survey showing that more than half of the respondents think that working on Sundays is a dysfunctional social phenomenon, while as many as two-thirds prefer jobs with non-working Sundays at the expense of lower pay.

This indicates that we are still a society that appreciates humane values, care for people and their families and that it has given the government the mandate to protect human dignity and social justice, the minister said.

MP Marijana Petir rejected claims by retail chains that their turnover is highest on Sundays and that they will make losses. Citing data from the Tax Authority, she said that the highest retail sales are generated on Fridays and that retail chains see the highest turnover on Saturdays.

Many studies have confirmed that Sunday work adversely affects workers' health, causing emotional exhaustion and continued stress, Petir said. As a minor exception, she said that farmers should be allowed to sell their products at markets and fairs on Sundays.

The chairman of the supervisory board of the KTC family-owned supermarket chain, Ivica Katavić, said that family shops should not be open on Sundays either, not even in the tourism sector. In 2018, his company decided not to work on holidays so that people can be with their families, and last year it decided to stay closed on Sundays. There were fears of what would happen with their revenues, but it turned out that their revenues were four percent higher in 2020 than in 2019.

The leader of the Croatian Independent Trade Unions, Krešimir Sever, noted that Switzerland, whose tourism revenue is three times as high as Croatia's, closes its shops at weekends.

Does America face a slowdown in economic growth

On Jul 22, 2021

July 24, 2021

IT WAS INEVITABLE that global economic growth would slow from the breakneck pace resulting from economies recovering from the pandemic. Lately, investors have been worried about something worse: that America’s economy, which spearheaded the rise of the rich world, could slow down sharply. In addition to delivery bottlenecks and the discontinuation of economic stimulus programs, the country is now, like many others, confronted with the ultra-infectious Delta variant. A painful slowdown remains unlikely. But re-spread of the virus is the greatest of these three threats.

To see how the rich world’s latest waves of coronavirus are likely to play out, consider that on July 20, America reported a seven-day moving average of 112 new cases per million people. About there was the UK with higher vaccination rates, more restrictions and more deadly outbreaks in the past in mid-June before Delta got going. The UK now has 699 cases per million, the fifth highest rate in the world. If all else is the same, Delta is spreading two or three times as fast as the original strain of the virus.

Fortunately, vaccines prevent almost all serious illnesses, and treatments have improved, saving more lives among those infected. That’s why England canceled almost all restrictions on July 19th. But vaccines still let many symptomatic infections through the net: 12-21% of them for the Pfizer vaccinations America has used the most. Delta is so contagious that, even after successful campaigns, countries will struggle to vaccinate to the herd immunity level that stops the disease from spreading. Given that 44% of Americans of all ages have not received a single dose, cases in the United States are likely to skyrocket. States like Mississippi and Louisiana, where about three in five people are completely unvaccinated, risk sudden and severe outbreaks.

The economic consequences will depend on how politicians and consumers react. So far, Los Angeles has brought back its mask mandate and New Orleans says it is investigating new restrictions. Even if vaccines allow policymakers to avoid a return to harsh measures, consumers may be too anxious to visit bars and restaurants. In the UK, mobility measures have only decreased slightly since June, but the experiment is still new. Exponential growth means that things can change quickly.

Delta’s risk is more unsettling than the other problems facing America’s recovery; This supply will have a hard time meeting demand and the incentives will have to be removed. As long as the economy stays open, it can ride these bumps.

Scarcity, especially of microchips and space on container ships, has pushed consumer price inflation to 5.4%. Real wages have fallen over the past year as rising prices have weakened workers’ purchasing power and there are signs that inflation is affecting consumers. But during the pandemic, households accumulated an additional $ 2.5 trillion in savings, 12% of that GDP in 2019. In June, a record number of Americans told polling firm Gallup that they themselves are thriving. It may be hard to get your hands on a car at a decent price, but as long as Americans venture out of their homes, the service sector can power the economy.

Withdrawal from some forms of stimulus can even help. There is a shortage of workers in the service industry. The end of the extended unemployment benefits, which will become generalized at the end of September, could bring some of them back into the labor market. Other political cliffs, such as Lifting of eviction moratoriums At the end of July cause uncertainty. But the pain is concentrated there rather than widespread, because the housing market is booming and there are many vacancies.

For economic recovery to continue, people must be willing to mingle with others. But that is exactly what threatens the Delta variant in America and around the world. ■

Why are vaccinated Olympic athletes testing positive for COVID-19?

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — As the opening ceremony for the Olympic Games approaches, we’re learning more about positive COVID-19 cases among athletes who say they’re fully vaccinated.

OhioHealth infectious disease expert Dr. Joseph Gastaldo said being in Tokyo for the Olympics is a high-risk situation, adding vaccination numbers play a key role in preventing positive tests anywhere for people who have received the shot.

It’s all about environments, which Gastaldo said could be the tipping point.

“In the setting of being around a lot of COVID activity, especially with more people not being vaccinated and the delta variant, it’s riskier for people who are fully vaccinated to actually get infected, whether it be asymptomatic infection or infection that results in mild symptoms,” he said.

That is what is happening in Tokyo with Olympic athletes testing positive for the virus despite being fully vaccinated.

Gastaldo said people have to remember the vaccine is a layer of protection and those who are vaccinated can still get sick with mild symptoms. They may not be contagious, however.

“Recent studies have supported that those who are fully vaccinated who have asymptomatic infection have infection with a very low viral load and they’re not considered to be of high risk of being contagious,” he said.
With COVID-19 numbers rising, Columbus Public Health pushes vaccinations

The Ohio Department of Health is only tracking breakthrough cases involving hospitalization or death. Breakthrough cases refer to those who have been vaccinated but still contract the disease.

An ODH spokesperson said as of July 14, Ohio is reporting 184 breakthrough hospitalizations and 29 breakthrough deaths — .003 percent and .0005 percent of all fully vaccinated Ohioans respectively.

“That’s really strong proof that the vaccines are performing well,” Gastaldo said. “We have vaccinated a significant amount of people in the state of Ohio. A few, a couple hundred breakthrough hospitalizations and deaths are to be expected. No vaccine is 100 percent. There are people out there who have weakened immune systems.”

Gastaldo said the best way to protect yourself from getting sick is to get the vaccine, and if you can’t for health reasons or the vaccine isn’t available due to age, continue wearing a mask.

Mitch McConnell warns of lockdowns if COVID vaccine rates don’t increase

By David Marcus

July 21, 2021 | 10:55am

A fresh wave of pandemic lockdowns like the ones that crippled the country last year loom on the horizon if people don’t wise up and get vaccinated against COVID-19, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell warned.

“These shots need to get in everybody’s arms as rapidly as possible or we´re going to be back in a situation in the fall that we don’t yearn for — that we went through last year,” McConnell (R-Ky.) said at a news conference Tuesday, adding, “This is not complicated.”

Asked about comments from Utah Gov. Spencer Cox alleging that conservative pundits are killing people with their rhetoric, McConnell stated that he encourages everybody to “ignore all of these other voices that are giving demonstrably bad advice.”

McConnell’s call to seek trusted and verified information about the virus and vaccines mirrors White House efforts this past week to counter false information that they say is spreading on social media and cable news.

McConnell took to Twitter to promote his pro-vaccination remarks, tweeting a portion of them with the words “Get Vaccinated!” at the top of the tweet.

A new Axios Ipsos poll highlights the difficulties that government officials have had in convincing a significant segment of the American population to take the jab: Of the unvaccinated respondents to that poll, fully half said they are “not at all likely” to take it.

The minority leader’s statements come at a time when the Delta variant has led to a spike in COVID cases across the country, although without a corresponding increase in hospitalizations and deaths.

McConnell noted that among those who are currently hospitalized for COVID, 97 percent are unvaccinated.

“It never occurred to me that there would be difficulty getting Americans to get the shot,” he said.

Across the country, some businesses and schools are mulling making vaccination mandatory, but thus far the White House has balked at the notion of a federal mandate to take one of the three provisionally approved vaccines.

Bill Gates and George Soros Backed Consortium To Buy British Covid Test Maker For $41 Million

Joshua Reid

(Decentralized Media) Global Access Health (GAH) a Consortium formed by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with the George Soros "Economic Development Fund" have made the move to buy the British biotech firm Mologic. Mologic is best known today for the deep-nostril technology used to deliver rapid Covid-19 tests, the same technology can also be used to test for a wide range of other diseases.

The new initiative between the two foundations is aiming to strengthen the global rollout of the so-called life saving medical technology. The rapid lateral flow tests, which were originally developed by Mologic, offers an early-warning screening for Covid-19 and have been used around the world as the draconian doorway between shops, bars, sporting events and workplaces in the new trend of denying work or services due to "health" concerns.

The test works by giving an early warning result for people who may have no symptoms but are still infectious of "Covid-19" and can give the virus to others. If we did a quick analysis of 2020 cases and the rampant number of false positives reported, misdiagnosis of Covid per Flu and blatant test manipulation, this would show us that this test is more of a symbol for the globalist to control access to public and private places under the disguise of virus-based fear porn.

In this new initiative George Soros and Bill Gates are looking to direct their philanthropic efforts to the the southern hemisphere, focusing mainly on the regions of Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. These are the areas that the globalist fear will have massively low vaccination rates, due to the undeveloped technological infrastructure and lack of government accountability. This comes as the Western world accelerates its program of mass vaccinations, testing and the extension of its global surveillance-biosecurity bubbles in the years ahead.

With overtones of the Agenda 2030 and of Sustainable Development, Sean Hinton, the CEO of the Soros fund, said in a statement referring to the pandemic that it has "painfully demonstrated the fundamental inequities” as pertaining to the global public health, adding that this “unique transaction” has brought philanthropic funds and investors together to address the issue.

Equity as a reminder, is a part of the Sustainable Development Agenda operated by the United Nations and perpetuated by the World Economic Forum and certain global initiatives. The claim that Equity in this case, seeks to bring about equal outcomes among various people without regard to social status, race, gender or creed. In other words, it is a caste system socialism, where those that have no power, no ownership and no rights reside in a perpetual state of government dictated social status, while the elite operate outside the system.

As if it was not a surprise to us all here, Mologic has worked with Bill & Melinda Gates’ philanthropic arm in the past. In 2016, Mologic established the Center for Advanced Rapid Diagnostics (CARD), a project that sought to develop rapid-delivery testing in third world countries and other remote places that might not have the capacity to deal with a pandemic. By no coincidence, we see that the Gates Philanthropies have been rather prophetic in their past investment strategies. By doing some research we can begin to see why this investment in particular is the precursor to the rollout of globalist backed vaccine passports, which hinges on the next phase the globalist Covid rollout, which we are beginning to see happen right now.

This week, the London’s Financial Times reported that the "Delta variant" is supposedly running like a mad man in countries like South Africa, where the variant now accounts for around 95% of cases in a country that has less than 3% of people vaccinated. Unfortunately, the reporting of the London based Financial Times is mere propaganda, since a closer look at the actual numbers shows a more telling story.

Pentagon considering mandatory COVID vaccines for military members

FORT HOOD, Texas (KWTX) - With thousands of families still reluctant to get their COVID vaccine, the Pentagon is planning to make vaccines mandatory for the military by September 1, if the FDA fully approves it.

Texas A&M Central Texas Nursing Director Amy Mersiovsky wasn’t surprised to hear the news.

“I know that they’re trying to protect their service members and their families,” she said.

“We need our soldiers ready to go in and help wherever problems or disasters arise. So, if they go to a place where COVID’s on the rise, we would want them protected from it.”

Currently, soldiers are mandated to get 17 different vaccines including the flu, measles, smallpox and others. If approved, the COVID vaccine would simply fall into this category.

Mersiovsky adds that a full approval of the vaccine by the FDA would be the ultimate convincing factor.

“It’s a new vaccine and a lot of families and military members have said that they would feel more comfortable when the FDA gives their full approval of the vaccine,” she said.

“With it being new, you can understand why people would be reluctant.”

According to the Pentagon, more than 930,000 service members have been fully vaccinated, on a voluntary basis.

Even if the vaccine were fully approved by the FDA, Mersiovsky says she wouldn’t be surprised if some remained reluctant because of the fast approval. However, with the new COVID variant reaching Central Texas, she argues to be safer than sorry.

“If we’re gonna stop having these infections and stopping these variants, you’re definitely decreasing your risk by getting the vaccine,” she said.

If the Pentagon were to make the vaccine mandatory, it’s likely that this will also include federal employees working at the VA or in other government facilities.

Facebook, White House Colluding on Censorship: Lawsuit

Facebook is censoring Americans at the behest of President Joe Biden’s administration in violation of the First Amendment, a new lawsuit alleges.

As evidence of the collusion, the class-action complaint quotes White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s recent admission that the administration is “flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation.”

“When she said that they were working with Big Tech then it changes everything because then it’s the government censoring, so that obviously can’t stand,” Richard Rogalinski, the plaintiff, told The Epoch Times.

Rogalinski made several posts about COVID-19 this year, including on April 6 remarking how he has seen data showing masks do not prevent the spread of the virus that causes the disease.

He has seen those posts appended with statements directing people to articles by so-called fact-checkers.

In one instance last month, Rogalinski posted an image of a tweet by Dr. David Samadi positing that “hydroxychloroquine worked this whole time.”

Hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug that has been around for decades, has shown some success against COVID-19 as both a treatment and prophylactic.

But Facebook hid the post from public view and deemed it “false information,” citing a USA Today article from July 2020 that claimed hydroxychloroquine is not effective in treating COVID-19.

“They’re fact checking me with articles that are a year before that aren’t even relevant,” Rogalinski said.

The USA Today article included studies that indicated hydroxychloroquine isn’t effective and others that suggest it does help in some scenarios, but focused on how the latter ones attracted criticism and downplayed them. Experts have told The Epoch Times that many of the studies were flawed.

More recent studies have also indicated that hydroxychloroquine can be effective, but only in some instances.

Facebook, under pressure last year, “formed a dogmatic narrative about COVID-19,” even as it became “the last bastions of public forum” amid widespread lockdowns, the suit charges.

The company in 2020 ramped up labeling posts and removing users for violations of its policies, including posts that supported the theory that the virus that causes COVID-19 was created in a laboratory. The company abruptly changed course on that matter in May.

The complaint argues that censorship of Rogalinski and others came at the direction of the White House, making it a First Amendment issue.

“At the direction of the President of the United States, his highest levels of staff members, and other Federal Government agencies and officials, the Defendant has engaged in a course of conduct to censor, limit and otherwise chill the Plaintiffs rights to free speech as they pertain to COVID-19,” it stated.

That relationship means Facebook can be sued as a state actor, it added.

“We see this as a slippery slope that the government is now involved in telling Facebook who to censor. I think Facebook and social media has traditionally said, ‘well, we’re a private company and so we can control what’s on our platform,'” Andrew Tapp, who is representing Rogalinski, told The Epoch Times.

“But what you’ve seen from the Biden administration is a material change to that position, because now you have the federal government engaged with these platforms, identifying not only content but specific people to censor, and I think you run down that authoritarian or that Chinese Communist Party approach to governance that, frankly, we are not set up for and most of the people that live here don’t approve of,” he added.

Facebook did not respond to a request for comment.

The suit was filed in federal court in Tampa, Florida. It was assigned to U.S. District Judge Steven Douglas Merryday, a George H.W. Bush nominee.
