On the ocassion of the G8 Summit in L'Aquila, Italy tomorrow, also comes a new insight;
I've come to the conclusion that the numbers don't add up. There is a graft factor in the G8.
Let's enumerate the members of the G8;
- United Kingdom
- United States
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Japan
- Russia
I see a double representation just from glancing at this list. In other words there is a redundancy in that UK, France, and Italy are also part of the European Union, therefore constitute a conflict of interest when they individually try to negotiate global objectives; Or, when they do the same thing collectively as the EU. That is double jeopardy in a sense. They can't be individual nations when it comes to one thing, then a Superstate when it suits them. This constitutes an uneven disadvantage for the other indutrialized nations.
Here's another fact that adds to this uneven equation; The Vatican is not only the seat of the Roman Catholic religion, it's also a city-state within Italy (G8 member). It constantly meddles in the affairs of the world as a whole, the industrialized nations mentioned individually above; Also, the Vatican is a unifying force behind the European Union. Remember when Ratzinger recently stated that Europe should include the Christian (Catholic more specifically) tradition as fundamental in the European Union constitution. Today, the vatican (Ratzinger) has released another encyclical calling for a new world ethical global (catholic) order. Ethical?
The facts that I've demonstrated above shouldn't fall on deaf ears. It's rudimentary.
The numbers don't add up! How can 8 plus 2 (EU & Vatican) equal 8?
Arsenio.
