Ancient prophecies fulfilled
Not only is the prophetic record clear and concise; but it’s fulfillment is undeniable and is being played out before our eyes.

God’s prophets always get it right. Daniel had foretold the rise of the Roman Papacy and the role it would play when it ascended the world stage. Under the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit he penned, “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time” (Daniel 7:25).

In foretelling the rise and fall of world empires from his time in Babylonian captivity to the second coming of Jesus Christ, Daniel identified those imperial powers as Babylon, Media/Persia, Greece, and Rome; first in its Pagan form and then in its Papal form. Those powers were likened unto ferocious beasts contending for world dominion (Daniel 7:17).

John the Revelator picks up the story and expands upon the role the Papal power. He prophesied, “And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast” (Revelation 13:1-3).

As John chronicled the demise and resurgence of this massive religious/political behemoth, God’s servant introduced the emergence of a new nation outside of the Papal confederacy. He prophesied, “He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon”
(Revelation 13:10-11).

The Foundation

The Jewish Jubilee, known as the Yovel in Hebrew, is a concept from the Torah, specifically outlined in Leviticus 25. It is a sacred year that occurs every 50 years, following seven cycles of seven years (each of which culminates in a sabbatical year, or Shmita). The Jubilee has profound religious, social, and economic significance in Judaic thought.

While the Jubilee is not observed in its biblical form in contemporary Judaism, its principles inspire discussions about economic justice, environmental stewardship, and societal fairness.

The book of Leviticus informs us on the requirements and administration of this ancient Judaic practice: “And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession”
(Leviticus 25: 8-11.

The Jubilee was a Proclamation of Liberty. The Jubilee year begins on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) with the sounding of the shofar (ram's horn) throughout the land. This signals a time of liberation for individuals and the land.

Prophetic Waymarks

Recently, the nation celebrated Independence Day. This is a time when the citizens pause to commemorate the birth of the greatest experiment in human civilization. Here’s how the birth certificate of that experiment partially reads: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness ” (Declaration of Independence, July 4th, 1776).

But we are witnessing, just as the Bible predicted, the unravelling of the fabric of that experiment. As the foundation of western civilization, the Bible not only foretold the rise of the American Experiment; but also prophesied of it’s role in salvation history and its ultimate demise. The idea of America has attracted millions from around the world and has impacted more lives than any other system of government ever existed in the annals of human history. But, even as we celebrate that great idea, perhaps half of the population are advocating for its demise.

One obvious sign of the dissipation of the American Experiment is the recent ruling of the US Supreme Court making the president immune from prosecution for any criminal acts committed while in office. That ruling was in response to former president Donald Trump’s appeal to the highest court in the land claiming immunity from criminal prosecution for attempting to unlawfully and violently overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election which he knew he lost.

One of the dissenting justices concluded that the majority opinion has made the office of the presidency a seat of unbridled corruption. Justice Sotomayor, in her blazing dissent, declared: “The court effectively creates a law-free zone around the president, upsetting the status quo that has existed since the founding”. She concluded: “Today’s decision to grant former Presidents criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the Presidency…It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law.” The peaceful transfer of power after a presidential election and the idea that no man is above the law are foundational cornerstones of the American Experiment.

Highly respected Constitutional scholar and former federal judge, J. Michael Luttig, echoed Sotomayor’s cries: “This is indeed an historic day in constitutional history as well as for the nation and represents the unsouling of America…America’s democracy and rule of law are this country’s heart and soul”. He added: “Our democracy and the rule of law are what had made America the envy of the world and the beacon of freedom to the world for almost 250 years now. Today, the Supreme Court cut that heart and soul out of America…No longer can it be said that in America no man is above the law” (J. Michael Luttig, Huffington Post, July 2, 2024).

Quite interesting is that there is virtually no mention of the fact that the entirety of the justices making that preposterous ruling are Roman Catholics. Perhaps it’s not politically correct to report the obvious. The question to this writer’s mind is, was this ruling made for the advancement of Rome’s agenda which is antagonistic to the ideals of the American Republic?

Seeing with prophetic eyes
Paul Blanshard was one of the most outspoken, far-reaching critics of Catholic power in American society. He was an American author, public official, lawyer, and political activist. His uncompromising criticism, yea, exposure of the Catholic campaign to overtake America was met with ridicule and accusations of being anti-Catholic. He was assailed as a Catholic basher and trouble maker.

His book, American Freedom and Catholic Power, is perhaps his most comprehensive treatment of the impact, goals and objectives of Roman Catholicism in America. In it Blanshard not only delineates the focused determination of the church’s hierarchy to rule America, but he also sounded a clarion call for the nation to be more aware of the inroads of this most formidable foe of our civil and religious liberties. He writes: “There is no Catholic plan for America distinct from the Catholic plan for the world. The hierarchy’s techniques of promotion vary from country to country, but the masterplan is only one plan and the world-wide strategy is directed from Rome. In a catholic world every national government would establish the Roman Catholic Church in a unique position of privilege, and support its teachers and priests out of public revenues. This is what the Holy See has always demanded in every country where it has had the power to support the demand with reasonable strength” (Paul Blanshard, American Freedom and Catholic Power, pg.269-270).

Blanshard was certainly not the first to sound this alarm. Thomas Maley Harris, physician, politician, Army General and member of the military commission which tried the Lincoln Conspirators, emphasized the threats of the Roman Papacy to our blood-bought freedoms in his long-forgotten masterpiece, Rome’s Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Harris provided incontrovertible evidence that the Jesuit Order, the most cruel, unscrupulous, deceptive and powerful champions of popery, conspired to eliminate the one who engineered the end of the civil war and bequeathed to the nation tangible hopes of a more perfect union.

General Harris writes: “It [The Roman Papacy] is, in fact, only a compact, well-organized, and powerful political machine, wielded in the interest of the greatest despotism that has ever cursed the earth. "If any man have not the spirit of Christ he is none of His;" and if this organization has not the spirit of Christ, it is not a church of Christ. That it is not animated by the Christ spirit is clearly manifest”.

He continued: “It has never manifested the spirit of Christ in all of its past history, and so is not a Christian church at all; and as it has always been grasping after temporal power, and civil domination, and is now, as it always has been, laboring for civil supremacy all over the world, we are surely warranted in calling it a huge and dangerous political machine, that has stolen the livery of heaven to enable it the more effectually to serve the Devil; and the more easily to deceive and enslave mankind).

He concluded: “But are our institutions in danger from this foe? Have we any cause for alarm? Is it necessary that we should sound the trumpet throughout the length and breadth of our land, and muster the hosts of freedom for the conflict? Yes, my fellow countrymen; there is cause for alarm, there is real danger in the immediate situation” (Thomas M. Harris, Rome’s Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln, pg.). If there was a danger in Harris’ time, then today we are undoubtedly standing on the precipice of a catastrophe that neither mind can imagine nor pen portray.

The Biblical prophet Daniel foretold: “ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book” Daniel 12:1). It is not too difficult to conjecture that the world is on the brink of a stupendous crisis and the Roman power is involved in every aspect.

We are living in rather troublous times, aren’t we? There are wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes and tsunamis, pestilences, uncertain economic times, killings of innocent babies, moral declension, and a host of other atrocities too numerous to mention. The is exactly as our Savior predicted it would be just before He returns. But then He added: “All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:8).” In colloquial terms, “we ain’t seen nothing yet”. The worst is yet to come…but praise God, beyond that, the BEST is yet to come.
