Regional Conference Weighs in on Voter ID and Redistricting

On their Facebook page, the South Central (regional) conference posted a statement yesterday about voting rights. Here’s the statement:

Is the American Left finally waking up from its decadeslong climate catastrophism stupor? For years, climate alarmism has reigned as political catechism: The planet is burning, and only drastic action -- deindustrialization, draconian regulation, even ceasing childbearing -- could forestall certain apocalypse. Now, at least some signs are emerging that both the broader public and leading liberal voices may be recoiling from the doom and gloom.

First, recent polling shows that the intensity of climate dread is weakening. According to a July 2025 report from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, while a majority (69%) of Americans still say global warming is happening, only 60% say it's "mostly human-caused"; 28% attribute it mostly to natural environmental changes. A similar October 2025 study from the University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute found that "belief in human-driven climate change declined overall" since 2017. Interestingly, Democrats and political independents, not Republicans, were primarily responsible for the decline.

Moreover, public willingness to countenance personal sacrifice in the name of saving the planet seems to be plummeting: An earlier October 2024 poll from the Pew Research Center found that only 45% said human activity contributes "a great deal" to climate change. Another 29% said it contributes "some" -- while a quarter said human influence was minimal or nonexistent.

The moral panic is slowly evaporating. Millions of Americans may still believe warming exists, but far fewer view it as an imminent existential threat -- let alone embrace sweeping upheavals in energy policy and personal lifestyle.

On Aug. 5, 2025, Flagler County sheriff's detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Autum Bardisa on seven counts of practicing a health care profession without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. The sheriff's office fugitive unit located Bardisa at her Palm Coast residence and arrested her, Sheriff Rick Staley said.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says Autumn Bardisa, 29, used another nurse’s credentials to work for AdventHealth in Palm Coast for months before the hospital uncovered the scheme.

A Flagler County woman was arrested this week after investigators said she posed as a registered nurse and treated more than 4,400 patients at a hospital despite having no nursing license.

Autumn Bardisa, 29, of Palm Coast, was taken into custody Monday on seven counts of practicing a health care profession without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. She is being held on $70,000 bail.

Law Enforcement Responds to False Threat at Loma Linda University Medical Center

On the evening of March 12, 2025, at approximately 6:06 PM, an unidentified male placed a call to a non-911 dispatcher stating that he was hearing voices instructing him to harm the children at Loma Linda University (LLU) Children’s Hospital. During the call, he claimed to have entered the hospital armed with an AR-15 rifle and a bomb.

Within minutes, LLU called a code silver signifying an active threat. A university-wide alert was sent to all students, faculty, and staff, warning of a reported armed assailant in the pediatric emergency department. The message emphasized: “This is not a drill,” urging everyone to take immediate protective action.

Deputies stationed on campus were the first to respond, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department quickly requested additional SWAT resources due to the size and complexity of the medical campus. Upon arrival, law enforcement swiftly initiated security protocols, securing all hospital entrances and surrounding streets. Officers were stationed on every floor, systematically clearing the hospital room by room as part of their standard procedure.
