Obama attacks Trump over Omar probe but there’s a big twist

GREGG JARRETT: Obama attacks Trump over Omar probe but there’s a big twist

Obama's DHS and FBI found evidence of a sham marriage in 2016 but dropped the probe over statute of limitations concerns

Fox News chief congressional correspondent Chad Pergram reports on a past federal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar involving possible marriage fraud, as questions persist about her immigration history and eligibility to serve in Congress.

We have come to expect sanctimony mixed with hypocrisy from Barack Obama. But his latest endeavor turns out to be a doozy.

Preaching his usual moral superiority, the former president recently took to social media to inveigh against the current president for targeting Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota with a criminal investigation. He called it "appalling."

Obama should have sat this one out at his luxurious spread on Martha’s Vineyard.

Lo and behold, he did the same thing when he was president. And Omar was the target. But, of course, the probe was kept under wraps. Until now.

Reporting by The New York Times reveals that Obama’s Department of Homeland Security and the FBI did a deep dive in the summer of 2016 into whether Omar entered into a sham marriage with her alleged brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, to enable him to secure a green card.

Brace yourself for the result. That investigation "found some evidence that it was fraudulent," according to the Times.

Accusations of marriage fraud have long dogged Omar, who has consistently dismissed them as politically driven and a right-wing conspiracy. So much for that argument.

The latest investigation that culminated in a judicially ordered search of Omar’s home on October 12, 2026, reportedly encompasses not only the suspect marriage but troubling questions over whether she ran afoul of the law by using a fake name and false birth date to obtain citizenship. A separate investigation is examining her financial transactions.

3 clues Ilhan Omar had sham marriage to brother — from marriage certificate to living with ‘dirty dandy’

Ilhan Omar’s first husband was “embarrassed” when her effeminate “brother” — who she is accused of marrying — came to live with them in Minnesota, a family friend told The Post.

The congresswoman (D-Minn.) had two young children with Ahmed Hirsi, when she suddenly split from him in 2009. She then quickly married an “extremely feminine Somali guy from London,” Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, fond of wearing short shorts with cowboy boots.

She was able to do this as she had only been wed to Ahmed in a 2002 Islamic ceremony which was not recognized by the state.

One of Hirsi’s close friends claimed Omar and her first husband were actually still together, and Elmi suddenly moving in caused strain on their relationship. The legal marriage was reportedly so he could get “papers” to start a new life in the US, as The Post has previously reported.

“The whole community was gossiping about [Elmi] when he first arrived,” the source, who wished to remain anonymous, told The Post.

“He was walking around in tight female clothing, which is heavily frowned upon in the Somali community, so I went to ask Ahmed about it.

“He told me that it was his wife’s brother from London and that Ilhan had ‘embarrassed all of us by bringing him here’. Ahmed used very strong words and said it was ‘disgusting.’”

British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, brother of Rep. Ilhan Omar, has a flamboyant dress sense.

Hirsi is said to have been at the heart of Minnesota’s Somali community and was hugely popular after settling there with his family.

“He was very sociable and had his finger on the pulse of everything that was happening,” the source told The Post.

“Ahmed was known by his nickname, South Side. He is a good man and has friends all over town.”

13-year-old Christian girl fights in court to escape custody of Muslim abductor: 'Serious injustice'

By Jon Brown, Christian Post Reporter Tuesday, July 14, 2026

A 13-year-old Pakistani Christian girl is fighting in court to reunite with her family after a judge returned her to the custody of the 30-year-old Muslim man who abducted her last year.

Maria Shahbaz was kidnapped from her Christian home in July 2025 by Shehryar Ahmad, who married her against her will and forced her to convert to Islam. Shahbaz has since been "exposed to grave abuse and exploitation," according to a press release from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a nonprofit legal advocacy group.

An earlier investigation found that she was a minor and that her marriage documents were forged. Even so, Pakistan's Federal Constitutional Court reportedly did not confirm her age before ruling in February that she should remain in Ahmad's custody. The ruling contradicts Pakistani law, which does not allow minors to consent to marriage or religious conversion.

As Shahbaz awaits another court hearing, local lawyer Lazar Allah Rakha said the Pakistani judiciary has a chance to correct a grave error.

"The court that is due to hear this case has an opportunity to correct a serious injustice. Maria is a child. She was abducted, her documents were found to be forged, and the court handed her back to the man who took her — without even confirming her age. That cannot be allowed to stand," Rakha said.

"This is not just about Maria, though Maria's situation is urgent and she must be brought home. This ruling, if it stands, will further erode the confidence of the minority communities in the justice system. This review petition is an opportunity for the court to relook at their previous order and implement the law," he added.

Despite heated debate among lawmakers, Punjab, Pakistan's largest province, passed updated legislation this year to reinforce the minimum marriage age of 18 and require courts to prioritize the best interests of the child in such cases. The bill replaced provisions of Punjab's Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929, which allowed girls to marry at 16 and boys at 18.

The change came as international bodies — including United Nations experts, members of the European Parliament and U.K. lawmakers — have repeatedly raised concerns about forced marriages and conversions in Pakistan, where more than 1,000 underage girls are reportedly subjected to these practices each year.

A Quiet Coastal Revolution

“Why only two?”

The question, posed six years ago by J.T. Scott, a member of the city council of Somerville, Massachusetts, is at the heart of the debate concerning government recognition of polyamory.

Scott and his colleague on the city council were considering a domestic partnership ordinance. The original language of the draft specified a domestic partnership as being “between two people,” according to The Harvard Crimson.

Councilor Lance L. Davis paused, saying “something didn’t feel quite right,” reports The Crimson. Scott asked the question: “Why only two?”

Davis, in his words, executed a “few simple tweaks,” altering the ordinance to permit groups of more than two adults to register in domestic partnerships together. The city council voted 11-0 to pass the ordinance.

It was signed by then-Mayor Joe Curtatone on June 29, 2020, becoming the first “multiple-partner domestic partnership ordinance” in the United States, according to the Harvard Law Review.

Cambridge, Somerville’s neighbor, followed suit, amending their existing domestic partnership statute to cover two or more persons in 2021.

Ilhan Omar's former husband surfaces in South Africa amid Trump's attacks: Report

Ilhan Omar, the Minnesota congresswoman who has long been the target of politically charged rumours about her personal life, is once again in the spotlight following news about her former husband, Ahmed Elmi. According to a report by the New York Post, Elmi, whom Omar was legally married to from 2009 to 2017, has reappeared online after years of public absence.

The paper states that Elmi, 40, now presents himself on social media as a self-described "dirty dandy," posting flamboyant fashion photos, nightlife snapshots, and images alongside friends in upscale London cafes.

He has spent recent years studying in the United Kingdom, earning a doctorate at Bristol University before becoming a research assistant there, with academic interests reportedly including "critically queer studies," decolonisation, gender research, and Black humanities. More recent posts show him visiting Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Amy Coney Barrett says supreme court rulings are ‘not opinion polls’

Justice believes court should not ‘impose’ own values as it weighs request to overturn same-sex marriage decision

US supreme court rulings are “not just an opinion poll” of its nine judges’ beliefs, conservative Amy Coney Barrett says, as she and her colleagues weigh a request to overturn the legalization of same-sex marriage.

“The court should not be imposing its own values on the American people,” Barrett remarked in a preview of an interview airing on the latest episode of CBS News Sunday Morning. “That’s for the democratic process.”

Barrett delivered her comments in what was billed as her first television interview since she joined the supreme court in 2020 – a conversation with the Sunday Morning host Norah O’Donnell meant to promote her new book, Listening to the Law: Reflections on the Court and Constitution.

In the book, set for publication on 9 September, Barrett asserted her belief that the June 2022 ruling that struck down abortion rights nationally “respected the choice” of Americans. She wrote that she believed the 7-2 Roe v Wade ruling that established those federal abortion rights had “usurped the will of the American people”, as put by CNN, which ran an excerpt of the book a week before its release date.

Yet more than 60% of Americans believed abortion should be legal in all or most cases, a May 2024 poll found. That was only four points higher than in 2021, a year before Barrett joined four other ultraconservatives in removing national abortion access protections, clearing the way for numerous states to quickly ban or severely restrict the procedure.

"The sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives..."

Recently, some people have been talking about hybrids that existed before the Great Flood. According to their interpretation of Genesis, chapter 6, these creatures were the offspring of humans and extraterrestrial beings. They call these supposed creatures NEPHILIM. The strangest part of all is that even some atheists "believe" this...

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Genesis 6: 1-4.

Finally, when tempted by the Sadducees about marriage after the Resurrection in Matthew 22: 28-30, Jesus refutes this unfounded Nephelim hypothesis when He answered:

Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

President Joe Biden awarded gay marriage and abortion activists with Presidential Citizens Medals Thursday.

Mary Bonauto, an attorney and gay marriage activist who argued before the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges, which created a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, and Evan Wolfson, a leading gay marriage activist, are among 20 recipients of the prestigious award presented at the White House Thursday. Eleanor Smeal, who led national pro-abortion campaigns and routinely criticized the Catholic Church’s position on abortion and sexuality, was also awarded.

“The Presidential Citizens Medal is awarded to citizens of the United States of America who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens,” the White House announcement stated. “President Biden believes these Americans are bonded by their common decency and commitment to serving others. The country is better because of their dedication and sacrifice.”

The medal is one of the highest awards a civilian can receive.

Creating barriers to the Eucharist

Sean Hall
United Kingdom

June 10, 2021

It was announced on May 29 that on the previous day the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, had married his fiancée in a Catholic marriage service in Westminster Cathedral.

Johnson, who has been divorced twice, was baptized a Catholic but as a student at Eton College had been confirmed in the Church of England and has not professed any allegiance to the Catholic Church since.

The news of his new marriage has caused uproar in Catholic circles in Britain, not least because of how many have been hurt by the way they have been treated by Church officials when, as divorcees or intending to marry a divorcee, they have asked for a blessing or even admittance to holy communion.

This all came to mind at the Church's recent celebration of Corpus Christi -- the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Gospel account Jesus sits down to the most solemn festive meal in the Jewish calendar, the Passover. And while at table he will give his companions the gift of the Eucharist, his own Body and Blood in a new ritual meal.

Jesus is surrounded by a motley crew of twelve friends .

Only a few hours later one of them, Judas, will betray him to the Jewish authorities.

Another, Peter, who is looked upon as the leader of this group, will deny three times that he even knew Jesus. Along nine other apostles, Peter will desert Jesus at his hour of greatest need.

Only one of the friends , the one called John, will be there with Jesus at the foot of the cross.

Even so, Jesus welcomes all twelve to join him at table during this solemn occasion.

Given this paradigm example it might seem surprising that the Church community that would emerge from that group, would spend time working out, eventually in the minutest detail, who may and who may not be welcomed at the table of the Eucharist; indeed who is welcome at the other sacraments as well.

First, the new community had to come to realize that not only Jews, but Gentiles were also welcome.

Later, however, they will begin to exclude others: public sinners, for example, which at the time included apostates (those who renounced their faith during a persecution); adulterers and murderers.

This became ever more refined over the centuries, and so we still have many people who, according to their state in life are excluded from the sacraments, including, for example, technically, the divorced and remarried, and those who belong to another Christian Church not in communion with Rome.

So, it came as a surprise to all -- consternation to some, while anger and outrage to others -- to learn that Britain's twice-divorced Prime Minister and his fiancée were married recently in a Catholic marriage service at Westminster Cathedral.

A Jesuit-run prep school in Indianapolis is defying a demand by the local archbishop that it fire a veteran teacher who is in a same-sex marriage, prompting the archdiocese to revoke recognition for the school as a Catholic institution.

In a letter to parents, the leaders of the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School said Archbishop Charles Thompson’s “direct insertion into an employment matter of a school governed by a religious order is unprecedented.”

“
After long and prayerful consideration, we determined that following the Archdiocese’s directive would not only violate our informed conscience on this particular matter, but also set a concerning precedent for future interference in the school’s operations,” school officials said.

The letter was signed by the school president, the Rev. William Verbryke, and the heads of the board of trustees, W. Patrick Bruen and Daniel M. Lechleiter.

They wrote that for 57 years, school leaders have decided who gets hired.

“Brebeuf Jesuit has respectfully declined the Archdiocese’s insistence and directive that we dismiss a highly capable and qualified teacher due to the teacher being a spouse within a civilly-recognized same-sex marriage,” they said in the letter.
