Switzerland Unrest: Masked Protesters Set Street Fires As Riot Police Launch Water Cannon

Swiss police deployed water cannon, tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse masked protesters in Zurich after violent demonstrations broke out in the city centre overnight on October 31.

Protesters blocked streets using rubbish containers, bicycles and other debris before setting fires and setting off fireworks. Riot police advanced through the streets with water cannon as fires burned near a tram stop.

According to Zurich municipal police, several hundred people gathered following social media calls for demonstrations similar to protests in France and other countries. Emergency responders were targeted with fireworks, bottles and stones, while some shops and public transport stops were damaged.

The demonstrations come ahead of a November 20 general strike called by left-wing and student groups against austerity.

Cost-of-living protests that began in France have spread to Germany where demonstrations to coincide with Halloween took place on Saturday, with tens of thousands of people turning out across the country.

The new German youth-led movement dubbed “Gen Z has got this!” protested against the high cost of living, underfunded schools and universities, environmental concerns and a potential reintroduction of mandatory military service. Protests occurred in major cities including Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich.

While the protest in the German capital appeared peaceful, water cannons and riot police were deployed in Cologne and Hamburg.

Police in Cologne said water cannons were used after some protesters set off fireworks during a march in the city center. “Our measures are directed against troublemakers and violent individuals – not against peaceful participants,” the police said in a statement.

In Hamburg, riot police responded after barriers were set on fire and emergency service workers were attacked. “There has been an increase in incidents of emergency personnel being pelted with pyrotechnics and construction (materials) … our riot police are taking immediate action against this,” the police said.

In Frankfurt, police said Molotov cocktails were thrown at emergency personnel and shop windows were smashed, prompting the closure of part of the Zeil shopping street. Officers arrested a suspect and seized two weapons after windows were broken at a gun shop.

Organizers of ‘Gen Z regelt’ planned the large day of action to coincide with Halloween, to maximize turnout and visibility. According to the organization, 120,000 people attended the protests across Germany on Saturday.

“We are young people who no longer want to watch decisions being made about our future without us,” the movement states on its website. It adds that the intention is to protest peacefully and organizers instruct participants to keep their faces visible, even in Halloween costumes.

Extra German police officers have been deployed nationwide in preparation for the protest, and the luxury shops lining Berlin’s upmarket Kurfürstendamm shopping street have boarded up their windows as a precautionary measure.

Some of Chicago’s crimes are merely widespread immigration fraud

Story by Zachary Faria, Washington Examiner

Some of Chicago’s crimes are merely widespread immigration fraud

You may think that Chicago is a haven of violent crime. But wouldn’t you feel silly to learn that some of those documented crimes were merely fabricated for the purpose of immigration fraud?

A Chicago man by the name of Parth Nayi organized hundreds of fake robberies in Chicago to help noncitizens acquire immigration visas. The visas in question are “U visas,” which are granted to noncitizen victims of certain crimes if they assist law enforcement in investigations. The incentive, of course, is to allow people who are not in the country legally to come forward with knowledge of criminal acts without fearing deportation — the same logic Democratic politicians use when justifying the existence of sanctuary cities.

So, in a sanctuary city such as Chicago and in a country that incentivizes entrepreneurship, Nayi turned U visas into a business. Nayi charged people between $5,000 and $30,000 to be “robbed,” paying business owners a cut to use their businesses as public places for documentable “crimes.” He then organized fake robberies, making the noncitizens paying him appear to be crime victims and allowing them to be certified by police as eligible for a U visa.

It all seemingly went swimmingly until one of the actors shot a store employee during one such staged robbery. Gun safety was evidently not emphasized on the set of Nayi’s fake crimes.

Who could have guessed that the U visa would be exploited? Likely anyone who paid attention. Since the visa is designed for “victims of certain crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse and are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity,” there was a clear incentive to stage fake crimes.

Some Democratic politicians even abused the system, with the Democratic sheriff of Bexar County, Texas, distributing U visas to the illegal immigrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). You may recall that some liberal pundits accused DeSantis of “human trafficking” for that maneuver. Thus, amnesty for the illegal immigrants must be in order.

The U visa program was well-intentioned, but good intentions are often exploited by those with ill intentions. In this case, those ill-intentioned parties happened to be illegal immigrants hoping to defraud the system, several Chicagoans happy to waste police resources for money, and Democratic politicians looking for excuses for amnesty. Those are the people around whom immigration laws and visa exemptions must be crafted.

House ‘Squad’ poised to double in size — and turn America into a ‘socialist hellhole’: source

By  Geoff Earle and Gabrielle Fahmy

Published Oct. 31, 2026, 7:21 a.m. ET

The “Squad” won’t just be a fringe faction in the new House.

The far-left group that began with the 2018 election of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is set to be a substantial block whose members are itching to leverage their newfound power to try to turn their sprawling agenda — abolishing ICE, Medicare for All, expanding gender-affirming care, and government-run supermarkets — into action.

The radical clique is set to double from the current core of seven to as many as 16 after a series of primary wins, election experts say – a number that swells to two dozen when counting left-wing progressives who share some views but are not closely connected to the Democratic Socialists of America.

Much depends on the size of any Democratic majority.

The size of the “Squad” is set to double in the new Congress, giving new political power to expected lawmakers like Darializa Avila Chevalier (D-NY), a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

If the Democrats win a slim advantage just north of a 218-vote majority on Tuesday, the expanded “Squad” plays an even bigger role — with the ability to tank House rules developed by the leadership and force votes on controversial amendments.

Republicans warn “lunatics” running the Democratic Party would set out on “woke wild goose chases,” dragging Democrats into ideological battles at the expense of more mainstream priorities, RNC spokeswoman Delanie Bomar told The Post.

“These communist wannabes would hold [likely Speaker] Hakeem Jeffries hostage until he helps them turn America into a socialist hellhole.”

Mainstream Dems are also worried.

“They’re going to cause problems. They’re going to try to dominate the narrative,” a former Democratic leadership aide told The Post, predicting socialists would jockey for powerful committee assignments and gain other levers of power within the system.

“Squad” size isn’t the only thing that matters, critics said.

“If they do take back control of the House on Tuesday, the Democratic leadership you’ve been promised will change too,” said former RNC national spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko. “This is not just about the Squad doubling in size, but the consequences of the Squad possibly doubling in influence.”

Republican Party faces imminent 'civil war', warns Steve Bannon

Steve Bannon, one of the primary architects of the "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement, warned that the Republican Party will erupt into an intense internal "civil war" immediately following the US midterm elections to determine its future direction.

He added that if President Donald Trump launches another major military operation against Iran, "people will be furious," declaring that he would personally raise his voice against such action.

Party Divisions and Future Leadership

Bannon, who served as chief strategist during Trump's first administration, noted that the Republican Party remains deeply divided over key foreign and domestic policy issues, including Israel, Iran, immigration, and the "deep state".

According to Bannon, a major battle will unfold over these ideological divides, from which the party's leadership for 2027 will begin to take shape. He emphasized that this conflict will not delay for months, but will begin immediately on the Wednesday following the vote.

Noting that no clear frontrunner has emerged for the 2028 presidential nomination, Bannon added, "We are going to have a civil war within our own party".

Is Roman Catholicism Apostolic?

Is Roman Catholicism Apostolic?

THE QUERY COLUMN: Is Roman Catholicism Apostolic?

The answer and reasons behind it

Associate Secretary, Religious Liberty Department

Is Roman Catholicism Apostolic?

Is the Roman Catholic Church correct in claiming to be the original apostolic church?"

NO. The Roman Catholic Church is a system of religion which developed gradually out of the original Christian church in Rome. This original Christian church of the old metropolis had apostolic foundations. It was perhaps started by Jews from Rome who, having been converted on the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem, returned to the city of Rome, and organized a Christian community there. Concerning this early beginning of the Roman Church, we do. not have the actual historical facts. Paul wrote to the church of Rome before he visited there, and was there in person probably as early as A.D. 62. Peter visited the church at Rome (Acts of the Apostles, p. 537), and doubtless made his apostolic contribution to its development. There is a later tradition that Peter visited Rome as early as A.D. 44, but there is no historical confirmation of this.

Out of this beginning the Christian church in Rome increased and prospered. It is impossible to date the beginning of its apostasy. About A.D. 150 Sunday keeping began in the Roman Church. At A.D. 200 the head of the church of Rome, a man by the name of Victor, tried to excommunicate other churchmen who refused to keep the new festival of Easter on Sunday. It was from Rome that Constantine issued his famous Sunday law of A.D. 321, which, although a civil law, was probably instigated in part by the leaders of the Roman Church. As the entire church developed false ritualistic and theological elements, Rome participated, and often led in the process.

The apostasy of the Roman Church became marked by A.D. 400, and objective historians speak of Christianity of that date, which was already looking to Rome for leadership, as having become a "mystery cult." The emperor Valentinian III, in A.D. 445 made Pope Leo the judge of other bishops. By the time of that pope's death the Papacy was already established as an institution. In 533 the emperor Justinian I recognized the pope of Rome as the arbiter of church dogma, and by 538 the power of the Arian Germanic kings of the west was so weakened or destroyed that the Papacy was able to develop its historic temporal and political power.

Therefore, sometime prior to A.D. 400 the church in Rome had already ceased to be the truly apostolic church, and had become the apostate cult of Rome that we now call the Roman Catholic Church. Seeming historic continuity should not be confused with genuine continuity, and the fact that there was an early Christian church in Rome does not mean that the present Roman Catholic Church is the true spiritual continuation of that early church.

It must be understood that the so-called Greek Orthodox Church is a product of a similar apostasy. This church also claims to be apostolic, but is not apostolic for reasons very similar to those applicable to the Roman Church.
