A Romp through the Fauci Diaries: Fame Turns to Shame

A Romp through the Fauci Diaries: Fame Turns to Shame What's in Them?
By Jeffrey A. Tucker August 3, 2026
Brownstone Journal
On the fifth anniversary of Brownstone Institute’s founding, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) released the diaries of Anthony Fauci during the Covid years until his retirement. They were written on government computers with the assistance of aides, so in no way are they private. They belong to the public, though it’s my judgment that it was intended to be notes toward an autobiography.
Reading them carefully (1,100 pages but in book form it would be twice that long) took me almost a full week. It is a look inside the state/corporatist system possibly without precedent. It doesn’t provide the entire picture of events but it is remarkably candid, especially if you read and know the context outside of the diarist’s head.
The first spin on this book is partially correct: it’s an exercise in vanity. True. Vast amounts of the text consist of hagiographic tributes without a hint of the grave damage done to people’s lives by the lockdowns, closures, and censorship.
But there is much more here. It’s the story not only of the wreckage imposed on a nation and generation of kids; it’s also the story of the descent of a soul at every stage of decline: social climbing, fame, egomania, political machinations, megalomania, duplicity, self-deception, intensifying levels of malice, exhaustion using courtiers as salve, and ending in total defeat realized only inchoately.
Reading it is a remarkable experience. It’s obviously not well written but that is a strength, a bit like how the Blair Witch Project is scarier due to its low budget. It’s raw and painful, alarming and shocking, and ultimately speaks to much more than the life of the author. It’s really a window into systemic corruption of nearly all the commanding heights of society itself, and offers a devastating indictment of the ruling class in government, media, science, and industry.
Does Fauci catch on that the media was using him as much as he was using them; that is, that he inhabited a world of fakery? Maybe but he decides early on that it is his only choice. He has to keep it up, otherwise his whole world crumbles. He just kept going for one year, two years, then three.
This Icarus just kept flapping his wings without realizing that they were melting.

Panama Papers: 10 years on, the promises and the failures
The Panama Papers exposed the systems and mechanisms that enable corruption worldwide. A decade later, Transparency International assesses what has changed and what hasn't
- The Panama Papers exposed how hidden company ownership and corporate service providers helped move and conceal wealth linked to corruption and crime.
- A decade on, some progress has been made: more countries now require beneficial ownership registers, anti-money laundering rules have tightened, and Mossack Fonseca shut down.
- Major loopholes still remain and the core system has survived: corruption still thrives through a parallel financial world built to keep dirty money safe.
- Transparency International is pushing for accessible ownership data, tougher enforcement, stronger regulation and supervision of gatekeeper professions, better asset recovery and real cross-border cooperation.
In 2016, the Panama Papers pulled back the curtain on a financial system designed to operate in secrecy. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, working with Süddeutsche Zeitung and more than 100 media partners, analysed a cache of 11.5 million leaked documents from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. The investigation revealed how anonymous shell companies and offshore accounts were used to conceal wealth, obscure ownership and, in many cases, facilitate corruption and crime.
The level of global exposure, the vast sums moved through the system and its sheer geographic reach were unprecedented – and the first consequences followed swiftly.
Icelandic prime minister Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson resigned within days of being linked to an offshore company. Pakistan’s prime minister Nawaz Sharif was later disqualified from office following investigations triggered by the leak. Vast hidden financial networks were uncovered, reportedly connected to associates of Russian president Vladimir Putin, while figures close to power in China, Ukraine and across Latin America were also named.
What shocked the world was not only who was named and involved, but how routine it all appeared. Anonymous shell companies, nominee directors and complex offshore structures were not fringe tools – they were standard practice in a parallel financial system operating with minimal scrutiny.

Vatican Espionage:The Holy Alliance of Spies
By SPYSCAPE
Even today, the CIA is referred to as the ‘Catholic Intelligence Agency’ while the Vatican’s ties to espionage date back more than five centuries.
With the inauguration of President Ronald Reagan in 1981, Washington and Vatican City quietly made strategic contact - so too did CIA Director William Casey and special envoy Monsignor Luigi Poggi, otherwise known as the ‘Pope’s Spy’.
By the time Reagan and Pope John Paul II met face-to-face in the Vatican Library in 1982, they were ready to discuss a joint, clandestine campaign centered on Poland and designed to thwart communism and the Soviet Union. "This was one of the great secret alliances of all time," Richard Allen, Reagan's first National Security Adviser, later recalled.
Meanwhile, in the same wing of the papal apartments that day, US Secretary of State Alexander Haig and Reagan’s National Security Adviser focused on Israel’s invasion of Lebanon with their counterparts Agostino Cardinal Casaroli and Archbishop Achille Silvestrini. Unsurprisingly, many of the US players were Catholics - Haig, Casey, and US National Security Adviser William P. Clark Jr. among them.
“They regarded the US-Vatican relationship as a holy alliance: the moral force of the Pope and the teachings of their church combined with their fierce anti-communism and their notion of American democracy,” Carl Bernstein wrote in an article for Time magazine.
The religious approach to intelligence initiated by OSS pioneers Edward Lansdale and spymaster ‘Wild Bill’ Donovan in the 1940s established CIA methods and understanding of the world in the early days of the spy agencies, author Michael Graziano argues. The CIA is still referred to as ‘Catholics In Action’ and the ‘Catholic Intelligence Agency’.

A Social Conservative: Pope Francis Led Effort Against Liberation Theology and Same-Sex Marriage
During the military dictatorship in Argentina, the new pope openly criticized liberation theology’s combination of religious teachings and calls for social justice. His social conservative streak continued when he was elevated to cardinal in Argentina. In 2010, he called the Argentine government’s legalization of gay marriage “an attempt to destroy God’s plan” and opposed adoption by gay couples. We discuss Pope Francis’ social conservatism with Ernesto Semán, a historian at New York University and former reporter for two Argentine newspapers, and with Argentine journalist Horacio Verbitsky.
