The Deputy Secretary General of the NRM, Rose Namayanja, has called on Seventh-day Adventists to remain committed to environmental cleanliness while faithfully observing the Sabbath. 

She says government and church leaders are consulting to agree on an alternative day for SDA members to participate in the National Cleaning Exercise.

Namayanja Rose Nsereko (born 18 August 1975) is a Ugandan lawyer, columnist, author, security sector manager and politician. She is the current Deputy Secretary General of Uganda's ruling party.[1]

Namayanja is a former National Treasurer of Uganda's ruling party, The National Resistance Movement (NRM). She is also the former Minister of Information and National Guidance in the Cabinet of Uganda, a position she held from 23 May 2013,[2] until 1 March 2015.[3] Prior to that, she served as Minister of State for Luwero Triangle in the Prime Minister's office, from 27 May 2011 until 24 May 2013. She replaced Thembo Nyombi, who was appointed State Minister for Information Technology.[4] Namayanja also served as the elected Member of Parliament for Nakaseke District Women Representative from 2006 to 2016.[5] She was a founder member of the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD), the youth wing of Uganda's Democratic Party (DP) that was known for its radicalism in the mid-1990s.[6][7]

Loma Linda University And Their LGBTQ+ Support Group

Loma Linda University is a faith-based institution historically rooted in Seventh-day Adventist Christian teachings. They traditionally affirmed a biblical view of sexuality (male-female marriage, with sexual relations reserved for that context). We still do. But look at them:



Observations

This LGBTQ+ program frames homosexual, bisexual, transgender, and related identities as something deserving a dedicated "safe space" for affirmation, "self-acceptance," coming-out discussions, and navigating "religion and spirituality" conflicts. It positions these identities as neutral or positive variations to be celebrated and supported with institutional resources, staff time, and a designated facilitator (Jana Boyd), while emphasizing confidentiality to shield discussions from outside scrutiny.

Critics (like Fulcrum7, for instance) would argue this represents institutional capture by contemporary gender and sexuality ideology rather than neutral support. And they are right.

Instead of offering compassionate pastoral care or counseling aimed at alignment with the university's professed Christian anthropology (human sexuality as defined by God in the Bible), it normalizes behaviors and identities that many religious traditions, including conservative Christianity / Adventism, view as disordered or sinful (Leviticus 18:22).

By providing an official platform for "sharing common experiences" and "increasing understanding" around these topics, the group risks functioning as an echo chamber that reinforces confusion, discourages repentance or desistance (especially concerning for students and those with gender dysphoria), and pressures the broader campus community to affirm contested claims about identity.

The "not a counseling or therapy group" disclaimer is telling — it avoids professional accountability while still addressing deep psychological and spiritual matters. In a religious university setting, resources might be better directed toward biblical counseling, addiction recovery, anxiety/depression support, or family strengthening in line with historic biblical truth, rather than subsidizing identity-based activism that conflicts with Adventism’s biblical teaching on human sexuality.

Much of our contemporary culture sees inclusion as the ultimate virtue and exclusion the ultimate vice. Equality is the new moral righteousness of ideologically-captured (former) SDA institutions. So how do we see this? We see this as another example of church institutions quietly shifting from their founding principles toward secular progressive orthodoxy under the banner of "inclusion."

To put it in street lingo, ‘They gone.’

The Love of God a Constraining Motive

There always have been, and always will be to the end of time, two classes on the earth,—the believers in Jesus and those who reject Him. The truth will be a savour of life unto life to those who believe. However wicked, abominable, and corrupt he may be, the sinner will be purified by faith in Him, made clean by the doing of His word. But the same truth will be to the unbeliever a savour of death unto death.

Argument will fail to convince the sinner of his responsibility to God. Learning and talent will fail to convince the soul. But the presentation of the love of God has a convincing power above that of argument, debate, or eloquence. The love of Christ, as expressed in self-denial, self-sacrifice, and death, as He bowed low under the sins of humanity, touches the sympathies and melts the stubborn heart. The fact that the Son of God, innocent and pure, suffered for sin; that the guiltless bore the punishment of the guilty, the just endured the penalty for the unjust, breaks the heart; and as Jesus is lifted up, conviction strikes to the soul, and the love that prompted the bestowal of the infinite gift of Christ, constrains the repenting one to surrender all to God. The seed of gospel truth has been dropped into his heart; and he beholds a love that is without a parallel, pledging a personal Saviour, and with Him every needed blessing. “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”

Those who receive Christ are melted and subdued by the manifestation of His love in His humiliation, suffering, and death in their behalf. They behold Him as their substitute and surety, as pledging Himself to accomplish their full salvation through a plan that is consistent with the justice of God, and which vindicates the honour of His law. But there are some who are stirred with strong emotion as they view the humiliation of Jesus, who shrink from following in His footsteps when they understand that they must be sharers in His humiliation and suffering. When Jesus asks the surrender of self without reserve, when He asks compliance with His government, and that they shall walk in humble obedience and implicit trust, their nature rebels. “No,” says the proud heart; “we want to keep our independence.” But this is the very thing that Jesus wants you to have. It was that you might be freed from the slavery of sin that He died on Calvary’s cross. He died that through faith in Him, you might be free indeed, and stand fast in the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Romanism the Religion of Human Nature

There is great need that all who claim to be Bible Christians should take the Scriptures as they read. There is need of arriving at right conclusions as to what the Scriptures mean in their reference to the man of sin, who thought to change times and laws. He had no real power to change the time and the law of God, but he thought himself able to do this work; for he “opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” He is an imitator of the first great rebel, the originator of sin. In heaven Satan thought to change the laws of God, and for this purpose he changed his character and his position in the heavenly courts, and influenced others until they united with him in the work of rebellion against God; but he did not succeed in changing the law of God. God did not alter or change his form of government to suit Satan’s ideas, but made it manifest that the foundation of his government in heaven and earth is as unchangeable as is the throne itself.

When Satan could not induce all the angels to revolt against the law of God, he made the earth the scene of his rebellion, and through the man of sin seeks to carry out his diabolical purpose. Through the Papacy, the Roman power, the man of sin, the purpose of Satan is carried out among men; the law and the time of God are set aside. In this we see that Protestantism is giving encouragement to popery; and false systems of worship, against which our fathers manfully opposed themselves, imperiling even property and life, are fostered and cherished and encouraged to extend and gain wide influence. Protestants do not search their Bibles as they should, and do not heed the warning that has been given concerning the work of the man of sin. The Roman Church claims that the pope is invested with supreme authority over all bishops and pastors, and this claim of supremacy was once denied by Protestants. They took the position that the Bible, and the Bible alone, constituted the rule of faith and doctrine, that the word of God is the only unerring guide for human souls, and that it is unnecessary and harmful to take the words of priests and prelates instead of the word of God.

To the Romanist the Bible is a forbidden book, because it plainly reveals the errors of the Roman system; and whoever searches the Bible with an enlightened understanding, cannot long be in harmony with Romanism. He who searches the Bible to understand the truth, will find no authority in the word of God for the assumption of power on the part of popes and cardinals. There is no word of God that sanctions their assumed superiority or supremacy over their people, as there is no word to sanction the claim that Lucifer made in heaven of superiority over Christ. The claim of the Papacy to superiority is made under the influence of the first great usurper, who so persistently urged his right to supremacy over the host of God. Through the Dark Ages,—that long night of ignorance and superstition,—the claim of the Papacy to superiority and supremacy was conceded by emperors and kings, although God had sanctioned no such concession, and raised up men to dispute the claim, and to break the Romish yoke from the church of God. Through his appointed agencies God summoned the church to reassert her independence, and in the strength of God she stood forth in the liberty wherewith Christ had made her free. She broke away from the papal yoke, and with the word of God in her hand, met the giant evil of Romanism, even as David met Goliath in the name of heaven, using his sling and a few pebblestones. The defier of Israel was slain before the man of faith; and while men cling to the word of the Lord, they cannot affiliate with the great system of error.

The Lord has pronounced a curse upon those who take from or add to the Scriptures. The great I AM has decided what shall constitute the rule of faith and doctrine, and he has designed that the Bible shall be a household book. The church that holds to the word of God is irreconcilably separated from Rome. Protestants were once thus apart from this great church of apostasy, but they have approached more nearly to her, and are still in the path of reconciliation to the Church of Rome. Rome never changes. Her principles have not altered in the least. She has not lessened the breach between herself and Protestants; they have done all the advancing. But what does this argue for the Protestantism of this day? It is the rejection of Bible truth which makes men approach to infidelity. It is a backsliding church that lessens the distance between itself and the Papacy.

By the end of this article, one question should remain: how did General Conference leadership concede ground on Sunday laws years ago, without the church noticing?

In mid-November 2025, Fulcrum7 reported that nine faithful SDAs sent a letter to the General Conference (GC) administration requesting a meeting by mid-December 2025 to discuss ending the church’s consultative status with the United Nations (UN).

This request was urgent, reflecting the seriousness of the times. Over the past five years, religious liberty has been steadily eroded, bringing the world to the edge of the enforcement of the universal Sunday law.

Many SDAs have been lulled into a false sense of security and do not see the importance or the urgent need to depart from the consultative relationship between the church and the UN. Many have been lulled into thinking that Sunday laws are off in the distance, and when that happens, then they will respond to the crises.

The reality is that in 1921 the League of Nations, through the International Labor Office (ILO), introduced a universal weekly rest convention (No. 14), which many member nations ratified. This weekly rest was to be observed according to the customs and traditions of each nation.[1] For a large percentage of countries, this resulted in Sunday becoming the mandated day of rest.[2] These conventions were later adopted by the United Nations when it was formed and it absorbed the ILO into its structure.

In 1957, the UN expanded this framework by passing another weekly rest convention (No. 106), extending the mandated rest to a wider range of occupations. This further strengthened the principle of a universal weekly rest across member states.[3]

Questionnaires sent to member nations in the 1920s and again in the 1950s revealed that many had already mandated Sunday rest. Enforcement often included fines or penalties for Sunday trade, such as requiring employers to pay higher wages or provide compensatory time off. In many countries, the rest period began on Saturday afternoon and continued through Sunday, with additional compensation required for any work performed during that time.[4],[5]

As recently as 2013, the ILO was advising member states on how to make Sunday rest more explicit in national legislation. It is clear that the international legal framework is already in place to implement a Sunday worship law.[6]

Laws alone are not enough; society must also be conditioned to accept not just Sunday rest laws, but Sunday worship laws. The past five years have shown that political powers, media, and social engineers can shape public opinion to the point where the majority will demand such laws if they believe it will bring peace, health, or moral improvement. As recent history shows (2020-2022), many were willing to comply with mandated experimental therapies to preserve social acceptance, personal security, and the appearance of loving their neighbour, even when they weren’t convinced of the health benefits.

The reader may ask, what about religious liberty? Won’t the Seventh-day Adventist Church administration manage to defend religious liberty?

The Hanson Place SDA church in Brooklyn, NYC held a ‘Public Affairs & Religious Liberty’ convocation yesterday on the Sabbath. Ivor Myers was one of the panelists. Several politicians were invited to attend church, including New York Democratic Socialist nominee for governor Zohran Mamdani, Hakeem Jefferies, and Leticia James.

Mamdani, who is a Shia Muslim and a Socialist, was allowed to address the congregation on Sabbath. Reuters confirms that he was campaigning at the Hanson SDA church.

Timothy Nixon, pastor of the Ephesus SDA Church in Harlem allowed Zohran Mamdani to speak from their pulpit two Sabbaths ago.

A member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, Mamdani is the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City in the 2025 election. He is also a Muslim.

Mamdani’s talk was essentially a campaign speech.

Sickness in the City of God

The Countdown to the End summer evangelistic meetings in Brooklyn, New York, provided a very peculiar event, even for a peculiar people. The meetings, hosted by the Brooklyn Faith Seventh-day Adventist Church in partnership with the Northeastern Conference, ran nightly from July 19 through August 16th. The topics were what you would expect of an Adventist evangelistic series. There were teachings on health, marriage, and financial wellness. There was singing and baptisms. The primary speaker Dr. Shion O’Conner, shared messages on Adventist doctrine, with an emphasis on the end-time prophecies of Daniel and Revelation and the gospel of Jesus Christ, died and resurrected.

However, on the last day of the meetings, during one of the Sabbath services, something took place which I wager has never happened in an Adventist evangelistic series before. Zohran Mamdani, running for New York City mayor, stood at the pulpit and gave a campaign speech, while New York Attorney General Letitia James watched from the audience.

Mamdani praised the Adventist health message. He said he had observed a “sickness across our city,” marked by inequality and cruelty, a sickness felt when the price of bread rises faster than wages, when hospital patients get denied equal treatment, when prices rise but amenities suffer, and when “the president and his Republican Congress in Washington pass legislation that makes it even harder than it was to afford groceries.”

Mamdani quoted Lamentations 4 about Israel’s heartlessness towards the destitute, whom they leave thirsting like an infant whose mother withholds nursing, and called for the spirit of the city to become “the spirit of our politics,” so that city hall may “quench the parched lips of the thirsty.” He promised that if elected as mayor he would lead from the front and set the example, while praising Letitia James for setting the example from her position. He promised fast and free buses, and affordable childcare and groceries, standing up for those who had Medicaid and SNAP (food stamps) benefits cut, and to stand up against “Trump’s authoritarianism.”

After Mamdani finished his promises of what he would do “as your mayor,” the clergy in the room laid hands on him in a dedicatory prayer. Their words affirmed they understood it was a campaign speech: they thanked God for the blessings of hearing scriptures quoted by “our new mayor to be,” and that God would give Mamdani and James divine power to keep “the promises that they have made” when elected.
