Reject Ecumenism

September 9, 2026

Michael Cookenmaster

Jesus is coming soon, and the attacks on the Church are on the increase. The Christian faith stands or falls upon the authority of the Word of God. “Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth” (John 17:17). Faithful Christians should therefore never treat the Bible as merely another ancient document to be reconstructed according to changing theories of scholars. We are dealing with the foundation of faith, doctrine, worship, and salvation.

This is why the rise of higher criticism and the modern critical-text movement deserves serious scrutiny. In particular, Christians should examine the textual theories associated with Brooke Foss Westcott and Fenton John Anthony Hort, whose 1881 Greek New Testament helped establish a radically different approach to the textual basis underlying all modern English translations.

The concern is not simply that newer translations use different English wording. The deeper issue is the Greek text upon which they are based and the assumptions used to reconstruct it. Westcott and Hort rejected the traditional dominance of the Received Text and elevated a comparatively small group of manuscripts, particularly Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, while developing theories of textual criticism that profoundly influenced subsequent generations.

This raises an important spiritual question: What influences shaped the manuscripts, textual traditions, and interpretive assumptions that have increasingly displaced the traditional Received Text?

Some conservative Christian scholars have raised concerns about similarities between certain readings in the Alexandrian textual tradition and theological tendencies associated with Gnosticism. Gnosticism radically distorts biblical teaching concerning Christ, His incarnation, His humanity, His divinity, and salvation. Christians should therefore be cautious whenever disputed readings diminish, qualify, or omit passages that have historically testified to foundational doctrines concerning the deity, incarnation, blood, and saving work of Jesus Christ.

There is another concern that deserves attention. Codex Vaticanus and Codex Sinaiticus, two manuscripts that have exercised enormous influence upon modern textual criticism, disagree with one another in more than 3,000 places in the Gospels. The extent of their differences should cause Christians to consider carefully why these manuscripts have been given such extraordinary weight in reconstructing the New Testament text.

There is also a prophetic concern. Many modern translations contain readings in Revelation that differ from the traditional wording in ways that can affect how readers understand the prophetic identification of religious powers. The Protestant Reformers and Seventh-day Adventists have historically understood the beast power of Revelation 13 and related passages as pointing to the papacy and its opposition to God's law and truth. When modern translations weaken, alter, footnote, or omit wording traditionally used in studying these prophecies, Adventists should take notice.

Your Bible Version Matters

The Bible is God’s revealed Word to us, not our word to make applicable to the cultural moment.

07/9/26
John StonestreetandAndrew Carico

Two recent news stories point to the crisis of biblical literacy, not only of knowing the biblical text but in properly understanding it. An editorial published at the Washington Post by Princeton professor Gregory Conti (a self-professed “non-believer”) explained how common it is for college students to not know the basics of Christianity:

(They) seldom recognize the allusions to the Bible that appear in Shakespeare’s work or in Lincoln’s second inaugural address (or in Obama’s first, for that matter) . . . their ignorance of religious ideas means they struggle to understand a wide array of Western art, literature, and philosophy.

In short, the lack of Biblical knowledge means they are unable to understand American history and culture.

Another New York Times story profiled the pastor and the church of Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico. According to the article, Pastor Jim Rigby of St. Andrews’s Presbyterian Church in Austin, Texas, welcomes new members by:

…handing them a new copy of the Inclusive Bible, an unusual feminist translation St. Andrew’s has used since the 1990s. In Genesis, instead of saying that God created a man, Adam, the translation first refers to an “earth creature.” It often uses the term “kindom” of God in place of “kingdom,” which it deems classist.

The Inclusive Bible is promoted as “the first egalitarian translation.” In addition to replacing the male pronouns for God and humankind, it purports to “re-imagin(e) . . . the [S]criptures and our relationship to them.” The innovative version promotes progressive Christianity and includes a strong postmodern emphasis, rejecting absolute “truth” in favor of a newly created narrative.

Those who only read the Inclusive Bible will not really know the truth of Scripture, any more than those who never read any version. Nor can they understand a culture inspired by and built from, mostly, the King James Version. And yet, that is actually the point of the postmodern way of approaching reality: there is no truth to be known or revealed, only that which is constructed.

Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

U.K. men fined for 'abusive,' 'criminal' recitation of Bible

Sunday, March 12, 2017 |
Michael F. Haverluck (OneNewsNow.com)

Two Christian street preachers were fined what amounts to thousands of U.S. dollars for allegedly engaging in an “abusive” and “criminal” activity by quoting verses from the King James (KJV) Bible – an argument presented by a public prosecutor in the United Kingdom.

Last summer, Michael Overd and Michael Stockwell were arrested while they were preaching in the U.K.’s Bristol city center, and they were later charged with a Public Order Offense for quoting and speaking about the Bible to pedestrians.

Ever since July of last year, the two men have been caught in in a legal battle over what they describe as merely preaching the Gospel and answering questions posed by a crowd about the difference between Islam and Christianity, according to The Christian Institute.

Baseless argument, baseless ruling…

Michael Phillips, the attorney representing Overd and Stockwell, proclaimed before the court that the prosecutor’s allegations are completely out-of-line.

“[The prosecution was a] modern-day heresy trial – dressed up under the Public Order Act,” Phillips told the Bristol Magistrates Court.

In defense of the Christian men, their counsel argued that the two were legally exercising their democratic right to preach and quote from the KJV Bible in a public venue – a matter of free speech.

The Sermon on the Mount from the Gospel According to Matthew (KJV)

Published on Feb 28, 2013

This is "The Sermon on the Mount", also known as "The Sermon in the Mount", from the holy book "The Gospel According to St Matthew", dramatized, from the King James Bible, set to some verse-by-verse KJV wallpapers I found online.

This is, in my opinion, the best and most beautiful recording of the King James Bible in existence.

Thanks, blessings, honor, glory, and power to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the almighty creator, God, and Saviour, and author of these books.

For those who doubt these claims, please carefully examine the evidence set forth in the following documentaries.

"Non-Christian Historical Evidence for the Existence of Jesus" by Chris White, "The Bible - The Word of God? - Extraordinary Claims Demand Extraordinary Evidence", "The Bible on Trial - Beyond A Reasonable Doubt", which is split into six ~10 minute parts, "Darwin's Dilemma - The Mystery of the Cambrian Fossil Record" (2009), "Secrets of the Bible Code Revealed", Parts 1 & 2 (1998), "The Case for a Creator" (2006), the sequel "The Case for Christ" (2007), and it's sequel "The Case for Faith" (2008), and this next one not from Lee Strobel, "The Case for Christ's Resurrection" (2007), "The Privileged Planet" (2004), "The Star of Bethlehem" (2007), "Unlocking the Mystery of Life" (2002), "Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution" (2000), it's sequel "Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution II" (2000), and it's sequel "Incredible Creatures That Defy Evolution III" (2004), "God of Wonders" (2008), "Finger of God" (2007), and the sequel "Furious Love" (2010), Chuck Missler's "What Is Truth - The Case for Biblical Integrity", Parts 1 & 2 (2006), "A Lamp in the Dark - The Untold History of the Bible" (2009), the sequel "Tares Among The Wheat" (2012), "Aquarius - The Age of Evil" (2010), "Age of Deceit - Fallen Angels and the New World Order", "Secret Mysteries of America's Beginnings - Volume 1 - The New Atlantis" (2006), it's sequel "Secret Mysteries of America's Beginnings - Volume 2 "- Riddles In Stone - The Secret Arcitecture of Washington D.C." The Catholic Bible Deception

amy2x .

Uploaded on Apr 4, 2011

(PART 2 of 9 AT THIS LINK) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtUfgt... The New "Bible" Versions produced since 1881 (RV, ASV, NRSV, NIV, etc.) are Roman Catholic perversions.

The Catholic religion is composed of traditions which are NOT based upon the Word of God. Matthew 23:9 warns us not to reverence any man as "Father." Yet, this is exactly what the Catholic religion practices. 1st Timothy 4:1-3 warns us about the Catholic religion... "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth." -1st Timothy 4:1-3

It is very simple to be saved. Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, deserving of Hell. Please forgive me of my sins and take me to Heaven when I die. I now believe upon You alone, apart from all self-righteous works and religion, as my personal Savior. Thank you. Amen.

Just take God at His word and claim His salvation by faith. Believe, and you will be saved. No church, no lodge, no good works can save you. Remember, God does the saving. All of it!

God's simple plan of salvation is: You are a sinner. Therefore, unless you believe on Jesus Who died in your place, you will spend eternity in Hell. If you believe on Him as your crucified, buried, and risen Savior, you receive forgiveness for all of your sins and His gift of eternal salvation by faith.

Christ died for your sins. You are a sinner by nature and by choice. Jesus took your sins and charged them to His own record. He went to the cross and paid the penalty for your sins. He says if you're willing to receive Him in faith; He will transfer His payment to your debt, and His righteousness to your sins. He will impute to you His goodness, and impute to His own record your sin; if you in faith will trust Him as your Savior.
