Thousands of migrants streamed into the tiny Spanish territory of Ceuta from Morocco on Thursday, prompting local officials to call on Spain to declare a national emergency and send the army to restore the frontier.

Spain’s interior ministry said it would guarantee the safety of citizens and the integrity of the nation’s border, but that the government could not declare a national emergency over migration concerns.

“The situation is absolute chaos,” said Rachid Sbihi, head of the association that represents Spain’s Civil Guard officers in Ceuta, who police the border. “It’s not possible to give precise numbers, but there are thousands of migrants crossing,” he said, adding that the border had “totally collapsed.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been taking people they detain in Minnesota to the Whipple Federal Building for processing. On Friday, members of Congress were there for an oversight visit.

Democratic U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Pramila Jayapal of Washington state made their way into the building midday, calling congressional oversight their duty.

"I was shocked to see that everyone in here has leg restraints. That is not common practice in holding facilities and detention centers. And apparently, that is the practice when you are picked up to when you are released," Jayapal said.

They did learn some information about detainees despite saying they had to sign paperwork, agreeing they wouldn't interact with them.

It’s turned into an efficient assembly line. Right before the checkpoint, a welcome center staffed by volunteers. They offer food, shelter, legal representation, and transportation. When ready, they’re taken to a point of entry. The checkpoint of course being completely swamped, prints off ticket #46,992,137 for their court date 37 years from today. They walk across the border, and into the very next building - another welcome center. Next stop: Nashville, San Diego, Richmond. Wherever they want. There’s (There ARE) offices like this in all 50 states, and you fund them. Not just through taxes, but also your Sunday offerings.

Because these aren’t government offices, they're churches.

The invasion at the southern border has developed into an untenable situation. Last year, the state of Texas became a minority White state for the first time in its history. By the end of this year, 10% of the population of the entire country will be illegal.

As tensions flare between state and federal governments with natives seeking to exert control over the situation, people are evidently starting to have enough. They see the impact free access to the country's wealth has on housing, competitive wages, and social cohesion. Someone is to blame for this, someone has to be held accountable and begin to mitigate for the damages.

This period of global migration is the largest in human history, so there is plenty of blame to dish out. Chief among the responsible is our governments, who are more than capable of turning any border into Passchendaele overnight, but refuse to do anything approaching this. Indeed, there are a number of secular NGOs and international institutions which have played a heavy hand. Interestingly, however, the single largest and most responsible operation has gone largely unblamed: simple, good-hearted, Christian charity.

In terms of individuals assisted in settling into the US, Christian churches make up the lion’s share with millions of migrants a year brought into the US through their networks on record. The Catholic Church alone is the largest (and possibly oldest) immigrant trafficking organization in history, and they claim this proudly. They have deep roots within the Western political system, including the International Catholic Migration Commission in Brussels, which has advocated for migrants directly to EU officials and European states since the end of WW2.

Driver in deadly Ohio crash spoke no English as Trump admin vows commercial truck license crackdown

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy details the Trump administration's crackdown on commercial driver's licenses issued to illegal immigrants. The effort follows a fatal Ohio crash involving an Uzbek national who authorities said spoke no English, as well as the death of a Pennsylvania state trooper struck by a Haitian national with a Massachusetts commercial driver's license. Duffy argues those licenses should be revoked to help keep America's roads safe.

A 21-year-old Indian national who federal authorities said was in the U.S. illegally was sentenced Tuesday to four years and eight months in prison for causing a fiery Southern California crash that killed three people last year.

Jashanpreet Singh pleaded guilty to three felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence stemming from the October 2025 crash, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Authorities said Singh was driving a semitruck that plowed into slow-moving traffic on Interstate 10 in San Bernardino County, killing three people and injuring several others.

Fox News Digital previously reported that Singh is an illegal immigrant from India who crossed the southern border in 2022 and was released into the United States by the Biden administration.

According to federal sources, Singh was first encountered by Border Patrol agents in California's El Centro Sector in March 2022 and released pending an immigration hearing.

The crash, which was captured on dashcam video, showed Singh never applying the brakes before slamming into traffic, according to investigators.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Monday ruled that a recently revamped version of a federal tool central to the Trump administration’s election integrity strategy is unlawful and can no longer be used.

U.S. District Court Judge Sparkle L. Sooknanan sided with advocacy groups that argued the recent upgrades to the program, called Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, aggregated Americans’ sensitive personal data in a way that could result in voters being wrongly purged from voter rolls.

“All in all, the federal government has knowingly trampled on the privacy rights of American citizens in a manner that threatens the sacred right to vote,” Sooknanan said in an order explaining the decision. “This Court cannot stand idly by while that happens.”

WASHINGTON – The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released the following statement announcing that the suspected ringleader of the failed terrorist plot against UFC Freedom 250 is a Mexican illegal alien who overstayed a B2 visitor visa.

According to local reporting, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a Mexican illegal alien, in Omaha, Nebraska on June 14, for his alleged involvement in the plot to carry out a mass-casualty attack against government officials and other attendees at Sunday’s event at the White House. Four other co-conspirators were arrested over the weekend in Ohio, Missouri, and California.

On June 16, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced federal charges for the five suspects, including Alvarez, who went by the alias “Shepherd.” The FBI assessed that Alvarez was responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack. Alvarez detailed the plot in an encrypted group chat, including the planned use of “counter sniper(s) and drones,” with the explicit intention of being “as deadly as we can get.”

Alvarez and his co-conspirators face federal charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Alvarez.

“This illegal alien from Mexico should never have been allowed in our country. He was the ringleader of a failed terror attack targeting UFC Freedom 250 at the White House,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “He and his co-conspirators now face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit violence on White House grounds. He will face justice and swiftly be removed from our country.”

Alvarez entered the United States on a B2 visitor visa and failed to depart before it expired in December 2001. The Obama Administration granted him Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in 2014.

Pope Leo XIV and I agree: Our country and world need healing

Challenges and responsibility were on my mind as I sat with the pope, a fellow son of Chicago whose moral leadership comes at a critical moment.

The same week I met Pope Leo XIV, I watched my eldest son graduate.

Like any parent, I felt immense pride seeing him step into adulthood. But I also found myself thinking about the wounded country and world he and his peers are inheriting.

Here in America, families are struggling with rising costs. Our immigrant neighbors, co-workers, classmates and friends are living with fear and uncertainty. Essential federal programs have been cut, while healthcare and food assistance are being stripped from the most vulnerable.

Overseas, wars continue to claim the lives of the innocent and devastate the remaining survivors.

As a father, those realities weigh on me. As a mayor, they remind me why I do this work.

Commentary

What I want for my family is what I want for every family in Chicago: a country and world that are safer, more just and full of opportunity.

These challenges and our collective responsibility were at the front of my mind as I sat down with Pope Leo XIV, a fellow son of Chicago, whose moral leadership comes at a critical moment.

The pope and I spoke about the suffering caused by war, the need for peace in Gaza and Iran and the responsibility we share to elevate the voices of those living through hardship, both in Chicago and across the globe.

When touching on the harsh realities of our country as it approaches its 250th birthday, we discussed the enduring consequences of slavery and the unfinished work confronting that history. He understands the harms of slavery didn’t end with emancipation and that these wounds continue to shape disparities in wealth, health, housing and economic mobility.

For more than a year, a network of community leaders has provided public witness, solidarity and mutual aid in support of detained immigrant neighbors and their families at Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey.

Delaney Hall opened in May 2025 and is operated by the private prison corporation GEO Group under a 15-year $1 billion government contract. It is the largest detention center on the East Coast. Five miles from my convent, it has been on my radar for over a year but has just recently entered the national consciousness due to a courageous hunger and labor strike by those held captive behind its walls.

The Eyes on ICE NJ coalition includes a diverse collection of organizations: Catholics like the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace and Pax Christi New Jersey, other faith groups, peace organizations, earnest people from local community and political organizations and immigration advocates. Then there are just ordinary folks who are looking for a way to make a real difference in the face of the cruelty that is happening in our name. We are committed to a common mission to oppose Delaney Hall and the unjust operations of ICE through nonviolence, mutual aid, radical hospitality and interfaith cooperation until the facility ceases operations. We are here for the long haul, and we center the concerns of our immigrant neighbors who are detained and the real needs of their families left behind. For the past year, volunteers have been present every visiting day to staff the "Radical Hospitality" tent or to peacefully stand vigil outside the facility on non-visiting days.

I have come to consider my fellow volunteers as my friends and could not help but think of them as I read these words from Pope Leo XIV in Magnifica Humanitas:

[B]uilding a world in which everyone can flourish requires shared responsibility and courage. No one can singlehandedly bear the weight of the challenges the world is facing, just as no one is so weak that they cannot play their part, for "power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Cor 12:9). … We should not be intimidated by tensions or differences because they can become creative forces when guided by shared responsibility.

I'll be honest: We don't always at first agree on details, but we agree on our values and that is what matters. We agree that the cruelty happening in our name is unacceptable. We believe that our friends in detention and their families come first. This isn't easy on the best of days, and it has become even more difficult with the recent attention and activity outside Delaney Hall this past week. The increased focus was sparked by a family-led press conference the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, highlighting the inhumane conditions their loved ones are facing. More than 300 people held at Delaney Hall then went on a hunger and labor strike to raise awareness and concern for the most vulnerable among them.

Federal agents in New Jersey beat back anti-ICE agitators in chaos outside Delaney Hall detention facility

Federal agents deployed pepper spray and beat back anti-ICE agitators outside the Delaney Hall detention center in New Jersey on Tuesday night, following days of chaos outside the privately run facility.

The confrontation, captured on video shared by FreedomNewsTV, shows the agitators trying to stop vehicles from leaving Delaney Hall in Newark. Authorities are seen attempting to stop agitators from obstructing vehicles and clearing them from the road.

The video shows the encounter turned physical as federal agents forcibly pushed back agitators who made contact with the hood of a vehicle trying to leave the facility. Some agents were also seen deploying pepper spray while others used batons against the agitators.

On Tuesday night, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin addressed the latest confrontation in a post on X.

"ICE law enforcement officers were assaulted by anti-ICE rioters who sprayed law enforcement with an unknown chemical substance," Mullin wrote, adding that two individuals were arrested for allegedly assaulting, resisting and impeding federal officers.

The clashes extended a weekend protest over conditions for detainees in the facility, prompted by a reported hunger strike undertaken by the detainees themselves.

Mullin on Monday denied the claims, writing, "There is NO hunger strike at Delaney Hall. There are no subprime conditions."

Pope Taps Former Illegal Alien And DEI Warrior As Leading US Bishopset

Pope Leo XIV announced the new heads of several dioceses across the U.S. on Friday, including a former illegal immigrant and staunch defender of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

The line-up includes Father Robert Boxie III, who was selected as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., and Bishop Evelio Menjivar, who was named bishop of Wheeling-Charleston, which includes all of West Virginia, according to a statement from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Menjivar, a 55-year-old native of El Salvador, previously attempted to illegally cross the U.S. border three times before he was successfully smuggled into the country in the trunk of a car in 1990, according to The Washington Post.

Menjivar then worked odd jobs before obtaining his citizenship, according to the U.S. Catholic. He was eventually chosen to be the first Salvadoran bishop in the U.S. in 2023 and an auxiliary bishop of Washington, The Washington Post reported.

NEW: Pope Leo XIV has named Salvadoran immigrant Evelio Menijar-Ayala to be West Virginia’s lone Catholic bishop.

As a teenager, he made three attempts to enter the United States illegally.
