HOUSTON - Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston held her final town hall meeting on health care Saturday.

Some people who met at a northwest Houston Church simply had questions on how the plan would help them and their families. Most others voiced their opinions.

"I want to congratulate President Obama for trying to get this bill passed because we've been needing it for a long time," Atheal Hawthorne told Jackson Lee.

"It's really a mute point about what it's going to cost because we're already broke. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, their all broke. We don't have the money for it, Chuck Jenkins told Jackson Lee.

Others say they want to support a health care bill, but not the one that's currently proposed.

"Is there wisdom in waiting? Is there wisdom in sitting back and having a formalized public discourse so we can get all these issues on the table and make something that I can say lets do it," Carl Morris asked the Congresswoman.

Many here say government health care is the moral thing to do. Others say it could be morally wrong too.

"I don't like having to pay for other people's abortions whether here or over seas," said Linda Lutkus.

Congresswoman Lee supports having a government run health program, and now before she goes back to Washington to vote on the issue.
