FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Police were called to a church-organized Thanksgiving turkey giveaway Wednesday after the church ran out of turkeys and a shoving match ensued.
More than 125 people waited in line to get a free turkey at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
When church organizers realized there were not enough turkeys to go around, someone apparently cut in line and started a small fracas.
Reatha Smith, one of the church organizers, said with so many people out of work this year, they had a lot more people show up than expected.
"So we did the best we could and, what somebody (said) happened -- I didn't see it -- (was) somebody pushed somebody," Smith said.
Organizers threatened to shut it down if things didn't change.
No one was hurt and no arrests were made.
