“We have become to the earth, the HUMANPOX. As the Humanpox has metastasized from a simple, uncomfortable, localized skin rash to a systemic life-threat, Gaia has reached into the disease itself for antibodies. Humans who love the wild will fight like antibodies and phagocytes for the wild, for the precious native diversity of our planet. (Dave Froman, Confessions of An Eco-Warrior, 57, 58.)
This crisis will be resolved only if individuals take some responsibility for it. By educating ourselves and others, by doing our part to minimize our use and waste of resources, by becoming more active politically and demanding change, each one of us can make a difference. Perhaps more important, we each need to assess our own relationship to the natural world and renew a connection to it. (Al Gore, Earth in the Balance, page 366)
Renew a connection to the natural world. Go green? Think green? Be concerned for Mother Earth and support “Gaia” (the new-age definition for Mother Planet)? Be one with the Universe? Such sentiments permeate every day life: these concepts saturate advertising: schools teach eco-sensitive curriculum: merchants, politicians, corporations and those who are eco-friendly and show kindness towards “our planet” are to be supported. We have been hijacked by eco-madness which has become the politically correct way to think. Do we comprehend to what depths we have embraced a pagan worldview?
Growing up in India for the first twenty years of my life I witnessed the spiritual concessions given to “Mother India”. She and nature are believed to be goddess personified having power to births seasons and punish by sickness and death. When angered she dictates violence through earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes and disease. She is the force of the power of the air, a universe to be respected, a god-consciousness that is part of mankind too. All is a component of divinity, cruelty and favor to be elevated and appeased. While I understood this belief to be part of Indian culture and Hinduism I never suspected it would be embraced by the west, or America based on Biblical foundations. Adulation of creation over The Creator is unbiblical and respect for animals and environment over human life is morally absurd.
The Greening of the West has leapt from being ridiculous to chilling as legal repercussions impose those who violate green code and laws now in place. This new religion has been sugar coated with high minded ideals about environmental protection but behind the movement is a deceiving agenda.
THE GREEN HISTORY
The Greens began in Europe. The Nazis were enthusiastic Greens and Hitler was a vegetarian (part and parcel of nature spirituality). Nazi Germany was the first country to establish nature reserves and the only country in the 1930's to preserve forests. (The Guardian, March 17, 1989). The Green Party was birthed in the 1960's when four overlapping anti - establishment groups joined to form the party in Germany: Marxists (the new Left,) Radical Feminists, Peace-niks (the anti-war movement), and Hippies seeking spiritual enlightenment.
The Earth Charter opens with this declaration: We stand at a critical moment in Earth's history, a time when humanity must choose its future. The Militant U.S. Greens have an agenda: radical population control (science is now developing a pill to stop a woman's cycle), a global welfare system (replacing capitalism with socialism), planet government and earth-centered spirituality.
But Who created this earth? Who is the preserver of the Work of His Own Hands? Who is the Sustainer of His World Order? Hijackers may attempt to usurp the earth, its inhabitants and its spiritual boundaries but Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heavens of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that art therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worship thee. (Nehemiah 9:6)
