London, Nov. 8, 2007 (CWNews.com) - Former British prime minister Tony Blair may enter the Catholic Church within the next month, the London Daily Mail reports.
Citing an earlier story in the Catholic weekly The Tablet, the Daily Mail says that Blair planned to convert soon after leaving 10 Downing Street. A spokesman for the former prime minister said that report was "not without substance."
Blair's wife Cherie is Catholic, the couple's children have been raised in the Church, and for Tony Blair has regularly attended Mass with his family. Speculation about his possible conversion was intensified when he met with Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) shortly before stepping down as prime minister.
