Mostof us feel like we need a break from our busy lives, and to press pause on what we do.
Our work may be hectic, our families always need something doing, and even our social media profiles need attention.
We can offer you the chance to switch off and reflect at no cost, and without travelling very far.
Do join us for Sunday Rest, a new event happening each month in our churches in Cosham and Wymering.
Each session will allow us to reconnect our mind, soul and spirit with nature and with Our Creator.
It is designed to be open and accessible to people of all faiths and none, and will include Celtic prayers, mindful contemplations and multi-sensory activities, all rooted in the natural world.
It happens on the second Sunday of each month at St Peter and St Paul, Wymering, and the fourth Sunday of the month at St Philip’s, Cosham.
It’s between 7pm and 8pm, with refreshments and the chance to chat afterwards.
The idea is to provide dedicated time and space – to think, to feel, to contemplate, to wonder, and simply to be.
Each month will have a different theme and include readings, prayers, questions to reflect upon, elements of nature to engage with, and simple crafts.
You can do as many or as few of them as you like, or even just light a candle and absorb the peaceful atmosphere.
The reason for the strong link with nature is that, when asked, people will often say they feel the most peaceful when they are outdoors – whether in the woods, at the beach, up a hill or even just in their own back garden.
The natural world reconnects us with something bigger than us – and Sunday Rest uses a Celtic Christian approach, which is rooted in the rhythms of the seasons, to reconnect the natural with the spiritual in a new way.
The first Sunday Rest at our Wymering church is on Sunday, September 9 and the first one at our Cosham church is on Sunday, September 23.
Join us and the chances are that you’ll come away feeling more peaceful and better able to cope with whatever life throws at you.
St Peter and St Paul Church is in Medina Road, Wymering.
St Philip’s Church is in Hawthorn Crescent, Cosham.
