BANGUI, Central African Republic —Pope Francis landed Sunday morning in this war-torn capital, launching his bid to end a conflict that has killed more than 6,000 people in two years, mostly along religious lines.
Calling himself “an apostle of hope,” the pontiff steps into a conflict zone that has been brutally segregated between Christians and Muslims.
