A one-time $600 stimulus payment isn’t going to cut it, according to Black Lives Matter — which is demanding the government issue monthly checks instead.
“Black business ownership: 40% decline. Eviction risks: 40 mil. people Black families are struggling to keep roofs over their heads, food in their bellies, and healthcare covered,” BLM wrote on its Twitter on New Year’s Eve. “This isn’t about a stimulus. This is about survival. And $600 aint it. We demand monthly checks.”
Lawmakers have been warring over sending $2,000 stimulus checks to Americans, a move passed by the Democrat-led House but so far stymied by the GOP-controlled Senate.
The group didn’t respond to Fox News on whether it has approached the incoming Biden administration with its proposal.
