"Good Morning America" anchors Robin Roberts and Josh Elliott were live at the Vatican in Rome Wednesday morning to greet Pope Francis.
A huge crowd filled St. Peter's Square to see the Pope, who dedicated his weekly address to the importance of serving the poor. Roberts and Elliot marveled at the effect he had on visitors and the way he carried himself.
"I told him that I was from America and he said, 'Please pray for me,'" Roberts recounted. "The pope asking, 'Please pray for me,' was quite a moment."
"When he came near us and we had a chance to meet with him, we really were filled with a moment of reverence," Elliot also said. "There was a moment of calm and peace that surrounds him-- it was remarkable." "The way that he spends time with people and the expression on his face is something that will stay with us," Roberts added.
