Unraveling Revelation

And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy” (Rev. 13:1).
Introduction
After introducing us to the war in heaven and its extension to war on earth, the Book of Revelation introduces us to the two main proxy powers that Satan works through. The beast from the sea, and the beast from the earth. These two powers conspire together against Christ and His people. They manage to deceive the world into trusting and worshipping the beast from the sea. And continuing the war against God’s people,.They eventually build a one-world government, exercising world-wide power over religion, politics and economics and finance. This one-world government is described in Revelation chapters 17 & 18.
Identifying the Sea Beast
Identifying the Sea Beast must begin with where the sea Beast first enters the prophetic picture, which is in Daniel’s Book.
The prophetic picture begins with a figure made of gold, silver, brass and iron, The metals correspond to a succession of empires; Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. There is a fifth empire composed of iron mingled with clay. -it is this fifth and last empire that the stone (representing the second coming of Christ strikes on the feet and destroys.
This kingdom of iron and clay represents the amalgamation of Rome with the people Of God. This amalgamation occurred when the Roman Emperor, Constantine the Great, merged Paganism with Christianity and in this manner created the Roman Catholic Church – Even the Catholics themselves acknowledge that their church is ’baptized paganism’ such as Cardinal Newman:
Confiding then in the power of Christianity to resist the infection of evil, and to transmute the very instruments and appendages of demon-worship to an evangelical use…The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees; incense, lamps, and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water; asylums; holydays and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields; sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the East… …are all of pagan origin, and sanctified by their adoption into the Church. Cardinal, john Henry Newman, Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine,1878, p. 372-374.
Biblical prophecy endorses what Newman has revealed. Revelationn17 is a repeat and enlargment of the Sea Beast. and chapter 17 reveals that there is a woman riding the beast. In other words, there is a woman in charge of the church. We are already introduced To this woman in Revelation chpter 2. “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols” (Rev: 2:20): Jezebel is intoduced into the prophetic picture, becuse she serves as the type, and the woman riding the beast serves —-as the anti-type. In other words, what the original Jzebel did would happen again. So what did the original Jezebel do? She married Ahab. king of Israel, and she virtually converted the whole nation Of israelto paganism -and she killed the prophets and people of God by using Jezebel as a type the the prophecies ate accusing the Cathoic Church of doing, the same things as Jezebel - and a cursory study of history, confirms that the prophetic picure has been fulfilled accurately.
The figure in Daniel two is repeated and enlarged in Daniel Seven. In Daniel seven Daniel has another vision and he sees four bests coming out of the sea.
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea: And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. . Da> 7: 1-3.
The First Beast was like a lion, the second was like a bear, the third was like a leopard, and the forth was so terrible, it had no equivalent existing in nature to compare it with. All of these beasts correspond with the first four metals of the figure in Dan. 2. Babylon Medo-Persis, Greece and Rome. But, there is more - In keeping with normal practice the repeat and enlargement principle adds more information – it tells us that something grows out of the Roman Empire: “I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things” (Dan.7:8).
Further information about the little horn is sontinued in the remainder of chapter seven and nore information is added in chapter 8. The data points provided identify conclusively that the little horn power is the church that grew out of the Roman empire, the Roman Catholic church.
Daniel is particularly intrigued with the Roman beast and the angel informs him that the ultimate fate of the beast that produces the little horn is its destruction in the lake of Fire. But then he is informed that the other four beasts would ‘live on’ for a ‘short time.’
They live on in the Sea Beast as taught by the repeat and enlargement in Revelation 13.
The composite beast
All the beasts in Daniel Seven come out of the sea. The same applies to the first beast in Revelation 13,. But that is not the only commonality. The Sea Beast in Revelation is an amalgamation of all the beasts in Daniel 7. The Sea Beast has the head of Babylon, the body of Greece the feet of Medo-Persia and the horns of Rome. In other words, as these empires rise and fall the one that rises inherits the legacy and influence of the lformer that fell before it. In other words, the paganism of the first empire, Babylon, is passed down and absorbed by Medo-Persis, and subsequentially to Greece, and finally to Rome. And from Rome to the little horn.- and ultimately it all resides in the Sea Beast of Revelation 13. and the heritge that is passed doen from empire to empire is paganism - It is in this manner that the first four beasts ‘live on’ in the sea beast.
Blasphemy
The little horn power in Daniel, is accused of speaking ‘great things’- ‘waxing great’- magnifying itself’ (see Dan. 7: 8:10,11) In Revelation 13, the Sea Beast is accused three times of committing blasphemy. This is a repeat and enlargement of the ‘waxing great’ ‘speaking great rhings’ and ‘magnifying himself even to the prince of the host’ in Daniel.
What is the biblical definition of blasphemy?
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? Lu. 5:21.
The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jn. 10:33.
Thus, the biblical definition of blasphemy is to claim the authority to forgive sins and claiming to be God.
Does the Roman Catholic Church claim the authority to forgive sins? Yes, it does:
Pius III has written: ‘Indeed, it is not too much to say that in view of the sublimity of their offices the priests are so many gods.’ And God himself is obliged to abide by the judgment of his priest and either not to pardon or to pardon, according as they refuse to give absolution, provided the penitent is capable of it. St. Alphonsus De Liguori, Duties and Dignities of the Priest, p.27.
The priest does really and truly forgive sins in virtue of the power given to him by Christ. Joseph Devarbe’s Catechism, p. 279.
It is a power greater than that of monarchs and emperors: it is greater than that of saints and angels, greater than that of Seraphim and Cherubim. Indeed it is greater even than the power of the Virgin Mary. For, while the Blessed Virgin was the human agency by which Christ became incarnate a single time, the priest brings Christ down from heaven, and renders Him present on our altar as the eternal Victim for the sins of man - not once but a thousand times! The priest speaks and lo! Christ the Eternal and Omnipotent God, bows His head in humble obedience to the priest’s command. Paul prophesied that the time would come when the anti-Christ would claim to be God:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8.
The Seat of the Dragon
THe prophecy about the Sea Beast says that the Dragon would give it his seat So what is the seat of the Dragon?
When the Medes and the Persians conquered Babylon, the Babylonian priesthood did not like their new masters, so they moved to Pergamos: Jesus called Pergamos the place of Satan’s seat (see Rev. 2:12,13).
Pergamum was also the center of Oriental mystery religions transplanted from Mesopotamia (Babylon), and contained many pagan temples. Its designation as the place “where Satan’s seat is” was thus appropriate indeed. Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary,Vol. 7, p. 749.
At the time Pergamos was the most prestigious pagan city in the Greek world, because the temple of Zeus was built there. This is why Jesus called Pergamos ‘the seat of Satan’ When the Kingdom of Pergamum became part of the Roman Empire the Babylonian priesthood moved again – this time to the center of power, the city of Rome. Even Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church recognize the Babylonian impact upon Rome.
The penetration of the religion of Babylon became so general and well known that Rome was called the New Babylon. Cardinal Gibbons, Faith of our Fathers 1917 ed. p. 106.
The early Christians also called the city of Rome, Babylon. When Peter wrote his first epistle to the ‘elect’ he called Rome ‘Babylon’ (see 1 Pet. 5:13):
It is known that early Christians often used the cryptic title ‘Babylon’ when speaking of the Roman capital, to avoid political reprisals. There is general agreement among commentators that Peter uses the term Babylon for a veiled reference to Rome. Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 7, p. 589.
1260 Years
The 1260 years prophecy is mentioned seven times in the prophecies (see: Dan. 7:25; 12:7; Rev. 11:11; 12:6, 14; 13:5), in reference to the Little Horn and the Sea Beast. The 1260 years Refers to the length of time that the Roman Catholic Church dominated the nations of Europe and much of the rest of the world. The 1260 year period of supremacy began in 538AD when the third horn that was impeding the rise of the Little horn was torn up. This was accomplished when the Ostrogoths who occupied much of the Italian peninsula were defeated in battles by the Eastern Roman Empire. After which the Eastern Roman emperor declared that the Bishop of Rome was appointed as the head of all the Christian Churches. The 1260 years of supremacy ended in 1798 when the Catholic Church received a ‘deadly wound.’
The deadly Wound
The deadly wound was delivered by the French Revolution. General Berthier marched into Rome in 1978. He abolished the Papacy, declared Rome a republic and took the Pope captive to France, where he was imprisoned and eventually died. The whole of Europe was in shock. A Jesuit priest wrote:
Berthier entered Rome on the 10th of February 1798, and proclaimed a republic... No wonder that half of Europe thought... the papacy was dead. Joseph Rickaby (Jesuit) The Modern Papacy Lectures on the History of Religion, Lecture 24, (London Catholic Truth Society, 1910), p.1.
However, the Papacy recovered. The prophecy goes on to say that the deadly wound was healed. The healing began in 1929 when the Italian Government made a concordant with the Catholic Church which created the city state known today as the Vatican, - an independent sovereign state, and paid the Church financial compensation. The Catholic Church has continued to rise in power. Until thatpoint, stated in the prophecy. is reached» “And all the world wondered after the beast” (Rev. 13:3). Just as the world was shocked when the deadly wound was inflicted, conversely, the world is amazed when they see the wound healed and the catholic church restored to power:
Marvelous in her shrewdness and cunning is the Roman Catholic Church. She presents a fair front to the world, covering with apologies her record of horrible cruelties, and declaring that her spirit of persecution no longer exists. But she is the same as in the days of the Reformation, when men of God stood up at the peril of their lives to expose her iniquity; the same as when she assumed the power to control kings and princes, and claimed the prerogatives of God. She may clothe herself in Christlike garments, the better to carry forward her purposes; but she still retains the venom of the serpent, and her principles are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in churches, and in the hearts of men. Her spirit is no less cruel and despotic now than when it crushed out human liberty, and slew the saints of the Most High. Ellen White, Signs of the Times, Nov. 8, 1899.
Warring against God’s People
The prophecy goes on to inform us that the Papacy would use its 1260 years of supremacy to attack and attempt to destroy God’s people: “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations” (Rev. 13:7).
When Satan was cast out of heaven for the second time, it was stated that he was full of anger, “…and went to make war with the remnant of her seed…” (Rev. 12:17). Satan is at war with the woman and her seed - (the people of God), and his instrument in this war is the Sea Beast – “And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them” (Rev. 13:7). The chief instrument the enemy wields in this war against the saints, is the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has always claimed the right to persecute and kill those whom it claims are heretics:
When confronted with heresy, she (the Catholic Church) does not content herself with persuasion, arguments of an intellectual and moral order appear to her insufficient, and she has recourse to force, to corporal punishment, to torture. The Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that ever existed... It is impossible to form a complete conception of the multitudes of her victims. W.E.H. Lecky, History of the Rise of Rationalism in Europe 1910, vol. 2, p.32.
For teaching faith contrary to the teaching of the Church of Rome, history records the martyrdom of more than 100 million people. Brief Bible Readings, p. 16,
The Catholic Church has persecuted ... when she thinks it is good to use physical force she will use it... Will the Catholic Church give bond that she will not persecute?... The Catholic Church gives no bonds for her good behavior. Western Watchman, Dec. 24, 1908.
THe prophetic account of the Sta Beast/ Catholic Church concludes with these words”And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth” (Rev.18:24):
Worshipping the Beast
The Old Testament in large measure can be understood as a record of people turning away from the worship of the ONE TRUE GOD and seduced into the worship and adoration Of false gods. The New Testament warns us that the same phenomena will happen again. John wrote that an antichrist would appear (see 1 Jn. 4:1-3; 2 Jn. 7)- \’anti’can mean ‘againgst’ but it can also mean ‘in the place of’ in other words an antichrist power could claim to take the place of Jesus]. And Paul wrote that before Jesus retuned a ‘falling away would occur and that a ‘man of sin’ would emerge claiming to be God.

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. hat they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thess. 2:3-12.
Paul has warned us That the appearance oF The Man of Sin Would be accompanied by strong delusion. Most People will only worship that which they believe is divine. Therefore. is it possible that the Catholic Church will officially claim divinity for their popes? The prophecies about the Sea Beast concern themselves extensively with “a mouth speaking great things” – “I could still hear the little horn speaking arrogantly” – “and he shall speak great words against the most high” – “Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host” – “and he shall magnify himself in his heart” – “and upon his heads the name of blasphemy” – “and there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies” – “and he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven” (Dan. 7:8; 11, 25; 8:11, 25; Rev. 13:1, 5, 6).
These statements are about the claims the papacy makes for itself. Paul, in his second letter to the Thessalonians prophesied the fulfilment of these ‘great words’. Paul wrote that ‘the man of sin’ – ‘that Wicked’ - would sit in the church (the temple of God) “shewing himself that he is God.” This is why the world ‘wonders after the beast’ – this is why the world ‘worships the beast’ – it is because the Sea Beast makes claims for itself that only belong to God. For example, the papacy claims that its priests have the power to forgive sin – this claim is blasphemy (see above). Nevertheless, because it is claimed and because it is believed, it gives the papacy great power over the people of the earth. The people become dependent on the priests for their salvation; therefore, they must obey the priests in all things.
This agenda to replace God with Satan has a long history. Anciently it manifested itself as idol worship - The satanic system is not to put Satan up front for people to worship. He rules through proxy powers, and he has puppets up front receiving the adoration on his behalf. For example, This is why the prophecy about the Sea Beast says: “And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast” (Rev. 13: 4). the Popes proudly proclaim that they are the successors of the Ceasars – the Roman Emperors. In other words, they inherit all the powers, privileges and prestige of the former Emperors. The mouths speaking great things, did not begin with the Popes / the popes are just the modern manifestation of an ancient tradition. it began in aancient times with pagan kings and rulers and it was eventually imported into Rome. Remember: ‘the first four beasts ‘lived on.’- they lived on by passing on their pagan customs and religions:
Another new cult influenced by Oriental concepts was introduced in the imperial period – emperor worship. Two years after his death in 44BC Julius Caesar was deified. Augustus, though refusing to accept divine honors during his life in an official way, did not object to being called “god” in the eastern provinces, where various peoples for centuries had considered their kings to be gods. Tiberius likewise refused divine honors at home, but encouraged them in the provinces. Caligula demanded to be treated like a god, and Nero was the first emperor who actually wore the radiate crown, with spikes representing rays of the sun, probably to indicate that he wanted to be considered a protégé of the sun-god Apollo. Domitian had himself addressed as “lord and god.” Nothing made it more difficult to be a Christian than the demand of the state to worship the emperor as a god, and some of the later cruel persecutions were waged because Christians came into conflict with official Rome for their refusal to comply with this demand. The Catholic Church has trod the same path as the Caesars. the Popes have proudly proclaimed that they are the successors of the Ceasars – .to this day they still apply the ccaesar’s title ‘Pontifex Maximus’ (*\the bridge between heaven and earth\) to themselves. In other words, they inherit all the powers, privileges and prestige of the former Emperors. The mouths speaking great things, did not begin with the Popes but with pagan kings and rulers. and the Roman Caesars. were so enamoured of their power and prestige that they began to think of themselves as being divine – and their subjects began to think the same and began to worship them. And this was nothing new, it was the former beasts ‘living on’ – The attributes of divinity were encouraged because it made the emperors ‘gods’ and this gave the emperors additional power and prestige over their subjects. Likewise, the popes have always aspired to cloak themselves in claims of divinity, and historically they have had a long line of cheer leaders making divine claims for them:
The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, he is Jesus Christ himself, hidden under the veil of flesh. Catholic National July 1895.

Roman Catholic Canon Law stipulates through Pope Innocent III that the Roman pontiff is “the vicegerent upon earth, not a mere man, but of a very God;” and in a gloss on the passage it is explained that this is because he is the vicegerent of Christ, who is “very God and very man.” Decretales Domini Gregorii translatione Episcoporum, (on the transference of Bishops), title 7, chapter 3; Corpus Juris Canonice (2nd Leipzig ed., 1881), col. 99; (Paris, 1612), tom. 2, Devretales, col. 205.
The title “Lord God the Pope“ is found within a gloss of Extravagantes of Pope John XXII, title 14, chapter 4.

THe impacy of Catholic Tradition
For Hundreds of years, the Catholic Church taught that Mary, the mother of Jesus had been bodily taken up into heaven and held an exalted status there- Such as being a mediatrix between man and God. However this was not official catholic doctrine until 1950, when Pope Puis Xii published ‘Munificentissimus Deus’ which proclaimed thet Mary was taken up into heaven bodily without seeing death. Pius makes it very clear in the publication that this new addition to Catholic dogma did not depend on the Bible for its authentication, but on catholic tradition.
People worship what they believe is divine, therefore is it possible that the popes will declare themselves God? Will the same appeal to catholic tradition be made to claim the popes are God? if this is ever attempted, there is certainly enough tradition to support such claims. If it happns it will explain why people are wondering after and worshipping the Beast.There are traditions that are thousands of years old.to draw upon, plus many statemnts from deluded Catholic teologians and priests
War against the Saints

Currenyly it is not posibble for the Sea BeastT to openly persecute, torture and kill god’a people, but the prophecy sats, “the deadly wound was healed.In other words, the Catholic CHurch is working to have the supremacy it enjoyed during the 1260 years restored. She achieves this by ‘committing fornication,with the kings of the earth’ (see Rev. 17:2).
Strong Delusion
Paul ends his prophecy about the popes claiming to be God by stating: “And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie” (2 Thess. 2:11).
When the disciples came to Jesus, and asked him to tell them about the signs preceding the end of the world and his second coming. the first thing Jesus said was, “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matt. 24:4). He then went on to warn them about anti -Christs and false prophets deceiving many. later Paul explained how this great delusion would happen, ”For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. (Acts 20:29-31).In other words the great delusion would originate from within the church. and so it has proven to be the case.
Conclusion
Revelation Chapter 12 has informed us that God\s people are in an existential war. Christians can justly praise God for the victory won at the cross. but Satan\s defeat at the cross has infuriated him -he is still ‘the Prince of this world’ He tried using the power of the world to destroy Jesus but he failed. Nevertheless, he is using the same tactic, using church and state in a second attempt To destroy God’s people “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ”(Rev. 12:17).
To achieve his goals the enmy has created an enormous propaganda campaign, that has enveloped the whole world in a gigantic delusion.The delusion includes the church that masquerades as ‘the light of the world’ being the chief weapon that he uses againgst Gods people. But, Jesus has told us how to discern friend fom foe, He said, “ye will know them by their fruits” (Matt. 7:16): Fortunately, we have two witnesses who testify that the Roman Catholic Church. has not produced good fruit, one witness is the records of history, the other witness is the Word of God. The history of the Catholic church provides us with a litany of horribe crimes and atrocities inflicted upon god’s people and the world at large. God’s Word (especiially the prophecies), tell us that the Catholic church is simply a continuation of what has been before albeit in a different form.This is why she is depicted in Revelation 17, again as the beast, but with the addition of a woman riding her. in other words, the woman is in charge of the church.
in addition the Sea BeastT has a ‘helper’ - the Beast from the Land. during the Sea Beasts ‘glory days’ of 1260 years, the Beast used the power of the states to implement and accomplish its objectives. the prophecies tell uS that this will happn again. ‘the Land Beast’ will rise to do in Modern times what Civil powers did for the church in the past.
