CHRISTIANS SHOULD BOYCOTT HALLOWEEN

Christians should Boycott Halloween's Evil

While there may be innocent intentions, celebrating witches, demons, occult symbols, possession, cruelty, haunted houses, goblins, ghosts is not becoming those who should emulate saints.

Dear Editor,

Christians should not patronize the evils of Halloween!

Think about it. It=s a pagan holiday celebrating the occult: witches, demons, ghosts, dementia, possession, horror, torture, killing. God=s people are to be a peculiar people, departing from the ways of the world -- especially these ways!

What? there is no policy against it in the church? What about not being a slothful servant that must be commanded in all things!

It seems pretty obvious to me.

It is individuals who take righteous initiative out of love of their Savior and his teachings who inherit the highest glories of heaven. The kingdom of God will be a nation of kings and priests, not peons. (Rev. 1:6.) Let=s get with it.

p.s. Yes, the costume thing may be lots of fun. But just as Christmas has become secularized and many observe it who do not believe in its true purpose -- though they are touched by it nonetheless -- so also is Halloween a secularized occult holiday, and those who observe it though non-adherents to occultism are touched by it nonetheless. Perhaps you should have your costume parties another time, and think carefully about what you are role playing. (11/3/98)
