What do Illinois and New York have in common?

  1. Both have had their Governors under investigation for corruption.

  2. Both had major Democrat Presidential Candidates running in the 2008 elections.

  3. Both have a Senate seat to fill since their occupants will now be Executives at the White House.

  4. Both have highly desired Senate seats that are up for grabs.

Differences

  1. Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is refusing to resign after he was recorded (by the FBI) trying to "sell" the Senate seat left empty by Barack Obama.

  2. New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has been linked to a high-end prostitution ring with ... He finally resigned. David A. Paterson was elected New York’s lieutenant governor on November 7, 2006 . ... Lt. Governor Paterson, who is legally blind; later Paterson admitted to having been unfaithful (cheated with other women) to his wife.........

  3. New York State's vacant Senate seat is rumored to soon be filled by Caroline Kennedy.

  4. Regarding Illinois's vacant Senate seat it's uncertain who will occupy it since the Governor got busted trying to sell it to the highest bidder.

Which reminds me that when President Nixon was caught red handed during

the Watergate Scandal, (among many things) he said:

"I played by the rules of politics as I found them",

"I am not a crook."

Is this the Status quo?.The Modus Operandi? The more things 'change'.............Arsenio
